First Week of School

So, I have moved back into UMBC and I have been BUSY!!! School started on Monday, and I have to be up at 7:15 everyday. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, I have an 8 am class, and Tuesday and Thursday I have to be at work by 8:30. This semester, I work at the health center and at the front desk of my dorm. I am taking Organic Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, and two honors classes.

I have been very busy with all of this, but this weekend I took a little break and went to Pensylvannia with some friends to 1. buy beads 2. visit the UTZ factory store and 3. go to Sonic. I enjoyed the trip. It was a nice break from UMBC.

Right now I am doing laundry, and then I am going to do homework. Tomorrow starts another crazy week!!

14 days

There are fourteen days until school starts again... and I have them filled with plenty of excitement. I am running medic duty, going to visit my Grams for 3 days, going to the Poconos for an annual family get-together, and visiting some friends from college.

I am excited for the new semester to start. I will be starting a new job as a student medical assistant, continuing with an old job as desk staff, and taking lots of exciting classes. It's going to be busy, but with some proper scheduling, it should not be a problem.

Harry Potter

So... I'm still on break... and I will be until January 23rd!!! No big plans...

I've been reading the Harry Potter series. When it came out when I was in the 5th grade, I didn't read it. And I figured that having a month off was as good a time as any to start. So far, I've made it through the first 4 books, and they are very good. I am really enjoying them!

Today I am going to lunch with some friends from high school, and then going to one of their houses to relax and chill afterward.

No plans for Thursday right now, but hopefully I will be able to visit with one of my friends from college on Friday! That will also be exciting.

So... I can't wait for the Spring semester to start. I want to kick some serious school butt!!!

Bargain Shopping

Christmas was great! I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with my family. My dad made awesome stromboli Christmas eve, and then we went to church. Christmas morning, I participated in present opening with my family, and then traveled to my aunt's house for brunch. In the evening, I went to my Grandma's house for dinner, and then home.

Today, I went out to do some shopping. I stopped by the library for some books. Alas, they did not have the next Harry Potter book available. I am trying to read the whole series over break as I have never read the books before. Then, I went to Lexington Park to Old Navy where, with a combination of sales and coupons, I got a really cute sweater for FREE!!!

Tonight I am going to Panera and then to see Yes Man with some friends. I hope it's good!

Two days!

Where has the time gone? I cannot believe that Christmas is in two days. And, I am proud to announce that I wrapped all of my christmas gifts except one before Christmas day!!!

The past couple of days have been filled with with shopping and other christmas craziness. To be honest, the christmas hustle and bustle turns me into the grinch.

BUT, I wil enjoy seeing family and friends over the holidays.

Winter Break

Wednesday marked the start of winter break. I took my last final that morning, and was home by lunch.

Yesterday, I went to lunch at my mom's school, and then I went shopping with some friends in the afternoon. We went to Target, Bath and Body Works, and Michael's. We stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner.

Today I had a dentist appointment in the morning, and I am going to a Christmas Party tonight with the people my family goes camping with. This afternoon, I made two batches of sugar cookies. I managed to burn the first, so I redid them. The second batch turned out much better.

This weekend I am going to a memorial service for my great grandmother, and then I have no other plans for the rest of the weekend.

It's raining right now, but hopefully the weather improves soon.

Three Days Left

This weekend was good. I spent some time with a friend Friday night. Saturday I ran errands with my family and then went to see Four Christmases, which I enjoyed. Today I studied all day. I have several exams this weeks, and I go home Wednesday afternoon. I cannot wait for Winter Break!

Weekend Home

Kristen and I came home this weekend. Friday night, we celebrated my mom's birthday. We got her a cord to connect her iPod to her auxiliary jack in her car. My mom and I also played some Rummikub and Skipbo. I won at Rummikub, but she proceeded to trounce me at Skipbo. Saturday I had a doctors appointment, and in the afternoon, I ran some errands with my sisters. Saturday night I went to a friends house and we played Wii and watched a movie. I slept over, and this morning after breakfast and viewing of Jeff Dunham's Very Christmas Special, I came home and I have been working on Organic Chemistry ever since. Tomorrow and Tuesday are the last two days of classes, and after that I have finals until next Wednesday. Then I'm home for break!!!!! I cannot wait!

I move out in 12 days!!!!!! So I've been busy with school and school and more school. Work has been good. I enjoyed Thanksgiving at home. I even played a game of Skip-Bo against my dad!!!!

Weekend Insanity

So, this weekend I spent my time working.

Friday afternoon, I escaped from hell (aka UMBC) and traveled around with some friends to Staples and Rite Aid. It was nice to get some time away from UMBC. That night, I ordered Chinese... YUMMY, and then worked.

Saturday I woke up, ate brunch, and then went back to bed because I was exhausted from work the night before. I got up, and then went to work at the Navy stadium for a football game. It was FREEZING!

Today, I have been working on a group project. We have to create a website for my genetics lab based on the Newcomb experiment. The title of this post is a hyperlink to the group website. It's not due until Wednesday, so when you click on it, it probably won't be done. You can check back so see how it goes.

This evening, I plan to do mega amounts of laundry, and then work on homework.

There are only three days of class this week, and then it's THANKSGIVING!!!!

So, in between work, school, and general craziness, I haven't had time to post.

So, I haven't been up to anything new. This past weekend, I went home, took a refresher course to help renew my EMT card, and then chilled with my parents.

During the day on Sunday, I went all over helping my dad buy stuff to hook an antenna up to the roof, and then in the evening, I went to church with him and my mom and helped out with Awana. After we got home, I watched his dive trip videos, and then went to bed.

Kristen and I got up bright and early Monday morning to come back to school.

My latest big news is that my Chia pet is getting big!! He is nice and "furry." Kristen calls him disgusting, but I think that he is cute.

Tonight, Kristen and I are going to Grams' house for dinner. It should be a nice change of pace from UMBC's buffet of death.

So, I worked a butt load of hours this weekend, made bank, and also got almost no sleep.

Yesterday, I went to lunch with crazy grams.

Today, I am working, and I have EHS 360.

I cannot wait until this weekend! I am going home!!

Blood work, Lunch with Moma, & Fireworks

Today has been a really good day. I woke up at 6:30am to drive home to Calvert County to get blood work and a sonogram done. I got there at 8am, got blood work done, and went into my sonogram. It was fast, but painful. The technician had to push on me pretty hard to get good pictures. Then, I went home to get some pants for work on Saturday. After stopping by home, I went to my mom's work and had lunch with her. It was really great to stop by and see her.

I went back to school, and then went to Genetics Lab. It took about 20 minutes to prepare my E. coli for DNA PCR, and then I was free to go. So then I came back, took a nap, and then went to dinner. After dinner, some friends and I went to see the homecoming bonfire and to watch the fireworks.

So now I'm in for the night. I'm probably going to read a little!

So tonight was a pretty awesome possum day!!

This morning, I went to work at 10, read tons of Orgo, got off at 4, and then went to EHS 360. Well, the teacher wasn't there, so we didn't have class.

So, after I came back, I chilled at the front desk for a while, got a package from UPS (winter clothes), and then went to dinner. I had an awesome egg salad sandwich!!

After dinner, I went to Target with my suitemates to be the fashion police. Believe me, I stopped quite a few disasters.

When we came back, it was time for Kindergarden Play Night, a program in the dorm. We fingerpainted, had juice boxes, and watched Finding Nemo! It was generally the best program ever!

After that, I took a shower, and then completed my Orgo Lab prep for tomorrow. I have to say that I am very proud of myself 1. Because it is the best prep I have ever done, and 2. because I actually did it the night before instead of 5 minutes before class!!

Wow! So, yeah, today was great! Plus, awesome Fall weather rocked!!

Monday

Today I started the day by taking an Organic Chemistry exam. I don't think it went too bad. Afterwards, I went to the lab to see if any cells grew on my TBAB + Strep plates, and some did! I had three cells, so then i patched them onto 2 other plates. The cells that grew on the TBAB+Strep are mutant. So, I take some cells off that plate and place them on 2 clean plates: one TBAB and one TBAB+Strep. Whether or not they grow on these plates will help me determine what kind of mutant they are.

After that, I spent the afternoon getting lunch and then reading. Then I went to lab lecture for Genetics, and we learned about the second step of the experiment that we will continue on Thursday.

We just got back from dinner, and I'm working on "thank you" notes. After this, I am going to do some homework, and hopefully get to bed at a decent hour.

So, I'm sitting in my bed at home, with the Orgo book open, watching Toy Story, and writing this blog entry... I'm supposed to be studying.

It's cold in my room; I have three blankets on as I type this. And it's fall, and I like the fall because of the crunchy leaves, and because I like the awesome sweaters. Plus, there is candy corn and pie. I cannot wait until thanksgiving... I love the delicious bread filling that comes with it...

Yeah, so I have an Orgo exam on Monday... and I really, really need to study.

I haven't been up to much. I worked this week, and did stuff that involves school. Ummm.... Friday night I saw Stepbrothers at school with Kristen. That movie is hilarious, and if you haven't seen it, you really should.

Recently, I dropped my Great Books seminar. I'm taking a lot of classes, and it was just too much. I'll retake it next fall.

Next weekend is UMBC Homecoming. It should be good. I work, but when I'm not manning the front desk of Susquehanna, there are sure to be plenty of sports games and stuff to go to.

So, I'm going to get back to studying... oh joy.

All I Did This Weekend...

Was WORK!! I did 21 hours over the weekend, at really awkward times (aka 6pm-3am). Basically, my weekend was: go to work, get exactly 8 hours until having to be back at work to sleep, work, sleep, go back to work...

AND then I finally got some time off. We went to Maureen's house for her birthday. Her mom made amazing food, and then we went to her cleftomaniacs concert. She had a solo, and it was super awesome!

This Weekend

I went home this weekend, and I had a LOT of fun!

Friday night, I went to the high school football game with my mom to watch my younger sister Kelsey play with the marching band at half time. The band sounded great, and I really enjoyed the show. After we got home, my mom and I played Skip-bo, and she won. Boo hoo. Then I went up to the medic unit and hung out there.

Saturday, I had medic duty with on of our friends, Sharon. She calls me one of her "red-headed step children." Sharon had a yard sale going, so in between calls, we sold some stuff she cleaned out from her basement, played with the dogs, and had an all around good time. Saturday night, I went back to the medic office, ran two calls, watched a movie, and ate some yummy cookies that one of our Jr. members baked for us.

Sunday, I went back home, ate delicious egg salad courtesy of my mom for lunch, and then trounced my mom at a second round of Skip-bo. For dinner, she made awesome grilled cheese and tomato soup. After that, I headed back up to school.

We just celebrated my suitemate's birthday with some awesome cake, and I got some homework done. Now I just need to unpack my stuff from this weekend!

What Craziness

So, what have I been up to? SCHOOL!!!!! I've been doing school pretty much all the time. And today I had two labs, both of which were actually pretty cool.

In Orgo Chem lab, we used a separatory funnel to separate out things from a big origninal mixture. By the end, what started as a clear liquid ended as three separate white solids just by adding bases to the original acid mixture and draining off the different layers. It was really cool. Plus, I perfected the technique of drying my napthalene, which made my classmates jealous because of it's time saving merit.

In physics, we used a laser reflected off of mirrors to show how light rays reflect. It was extremely basic, but also very helpful in understand the concepts we are covering in class.

On another note, yesterday I had EHS 360, and we had to do a surprise teaching off of a slide presentation we had never seen before. Apparently, I did very well, because the professor told me that he would have thought that I had given the presentation before. This was kind of cool.

So right now I have some homework to hop on, so I will talk to you all later.

Ode to My Onion Bagel

So I didn't wake up for breakfast before physics this morning... so I went to grab breakfast in the commons after class. Well, I picked up an onion bagel. This is my ode to said bagel.

Oh Onion Bagel,
You tempt me with your delicious smell.

Kind lady said get another.

I obtain a new jewel of onion.
And grab some cheese of cream.
Also a juice.

This Week

Well, this week has been fairly normal. Nothing exciting. Went to class, studied, nothing new. I did pick up an extra shift at work, so now I work 6 hours on Tuesday, which is nice.

I went home this weekend. So, I spent most of my time at the rescue squad, getting erands such as Dr's appointments and such done in between. It was actually quiet, and I only got seven calls the whole weekend. So it was good. School starts back up tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.

Job... so boring!!

So today I started my job as desk staff at my dorm. It was officially the most boring thing that I have ever done. I sit there and do nothing but call people, collect IDs, sign for packages, and write in a book. SO BORING.

On a lighter note, I did manage to break the master key in the first minute of my shift, which created some excitement for the first five minutes of my shift.

At least it's easy, and at least I get paid.

JOBS!!!!!

So, I definetley need to update!!

Last Thursday, I got hired for two jobs!! I am an EMT for Special Events Medical Services (SEMS) based out of First Mariner Arena in Baltimore. The second is as desk staff for the front desk at my dorm. They both have very flexible schedule, so it should work out well with school. I start as desk staff tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know how it goes!!

Today I only had two classes: EHS 360 and Great Books.

EHS 360 was untilmately boring as was Great Books. Tomorrow proves to be more exciting, filled with science labs, lectures, and a council of majors meeting. Also, pep band practice!!!
