I can’t tell you how much my family means to me. My kids and my husband are my life. I have mountains and mountains of pictures of them… but hardly any pictures of all of us. And pictures of all of us are important. For our kids first birthday this past fall we decided to get a family portrait session with the truly amazing Tara Whitney. She is the master of family photography. Every one of her pictures is so REAL and captures LIFE and LOVE and that was exactly what I wanted for our family portraits.

I was so excited and nervous for the session… would we pick the right things to wear? Would the kids cooperate? Would there be enough light in our new place (we took these about a week after moving to our current home)… I wanted desperately for these pictures to show what this part of our lives was like and how much joy we have.

Well I needn’t have worried because Tara had us covered. They are more gorgeous and more true and real and heartfelt than I could have even imagine. I love each one to bits. Happy Valentine’s Weekend {My Life}

I know the blog has been a little (ok a lot) slow lately. I am going on a weekend break and I will be out of the office until Tuesday. When I get back there will be a lot of new posts coming.

In the meantime, it’s been much too long since I posted any pictures of my two favorite valentines (no offense to the husband of course). My tiny babies looking not so tiny any more, but I love them more than ever. Happy Valentine’s day to everyone!

The Wonders {Family Portraits}

The Wonders family is Cute with a capital C. I am lucky enough to have worked with the very talented Jackie Wonders on a few of my weddings and I was so happy to get a chance to meet up with her and her adorable family over my winter vacation. Emery is pretty much the cutest 2 1/2 year old ever and she certainly has a mind of her own (and quite the personality as well) It makes me both excited and terrified for when my own kids get that old

We mostly met up for a chat and some catching up but we also did a quick portrait session as well. Here are a few of my favorites – enjoy!

Happy New Year! I’m finally back from our week and a half long holiday break and I can’t believe it’s already 2010… a whole new decade! I have a whole heap of new and fun things to blog but first up a little sneak peek of one of my favorite images from a portrait session back in November. I just love the late afternoon sunshine !

Amanda & Steve {vintage engagement}

These photos are a long time in coming… they’ve been burning a hole in my virtual pocket just waiting to be shared with you all… if only I could get enough time to blog!

Amanda and Steve are awesome. Hands down fabulous couple! They won my giveaway a few months back and I had such a blast shooting their “retro recreation”. In case you don’t remember the story, Amanda’s parents eloped and her mom wore a super sweet minidress to their wedding. Amanda wanted to recreate that day with a retro car and a sweet minidress of her own I scoured Los Angeles to come up with the location I had pictured in my mind and I found the perfect spot They turned out even better than I hoped and I love them all! Amanda you looked fabulous!

Congratulations Amanda & Steve! A lifetime of love and happiness to you both!

Two little men – C&C {family portraits}

I’m still here, still alive and I apologize profusely for the lack of blogging in the last month. Has it really been a month?!

Many new posts coming your way soon. I think I’ll put up one a day or every other day for the next few weeks to make up for the slow down (or rather grinding halt) in blog activity for the last little while. Sound fair to you?

This portrait session was one of my favorites ever! I met Tamlyn (mom to C&C) through my mothers of twins club and hit it off with her right away. When she lamented the fact that she didn’t have any good family portraits I pretty much jumped up and down waving my arms and screaming “Me, me! Let me take some!” You’ll see why as soon as you see the curly locks and gigantic smiles on these twin boys. Future heart breakers for sure! The goal of the session was to do a “day in the life” following the family through all of their typical daily rituals and really capturing who they are as a family. I love this type of shoot because I get to see a family in “real life” and I also get to spend a lot of time goofing off with the kiddos.

We started out in jammies in the kitchen whipping up some pancakes because what better way to start the day when you’re momma’s a chef?!

After breakfast we headed to the beach. I loved how beautiful and sunny and deserted the beach was. A gorgeous day!

And then back to the house for some snuggly book time at home

These two little boys have the most ridiculously adorable dimples of all time. Can you even stand it?!

And a few family portraits outdoors to wrap up the day. I love this one.. the squishy fish face is so ridiculously cute!!

I had so much fun with you guys!! Let’s do it again next year (and the next, and the next )

My blog posts lately have been shamefully few and far between. Blame it on the crazy busy season or the holidays or the fact that my children went bananas with the time change… in any case I owe you a LOT of blogging… and it will be coming soon! Remember that contest I had a few months back… the “Spread the Love Giveaway“… well you didn’t think I went and forgot about the couple who won now, did you?! Things have been so crazy busy in the last few months that scheduling a shoot has been nearly impossible. Luckily this weekend was the perfect combination of a free day for me (hooray!) and a free weekend for Amanda and Steve.
