My sister is running an auction to raise money for the March of Dimes, in honor of her son Peyton Mark. Everything up for bid in this auction was donated and absolutely all of the proceeds from the winning bids will be given directly to the March of Dimes. But in the end, most of Allan and Jimmy’s guests DID make it. They had a beautiful ceremony and reception, lit only by the light of the chandeliers above and a few flickering candles (you haven’t photographed in a dim room until you’ve been in one with 30 foot ceilings and candlelight!) It was such a warm and cozy atmosphere inside the gorgeous Green Building on what was otherwise a chilly evening. It’s always an honor to document the wedding of a friend, and Allan has been a friend of mine for almost 13 years now so it was such a treat for me to be a part of his day. Here are a few of my favorite images from their beautiful wedding – enjoy!

When I was a kid I always wanted to be a twin… it’s funny how some things in life come back around. Whenever I see a shot like this of Paul and Amelia I know my dreams of being a twin were for good reason – they’re best friends, constant companions, and nobody – not even me – will ever know them as well as they know each other. I love them so.

Check out the gorgeous February skies from sunny San Diego – I couldn’t make up this kind of beauty if I tried.

In an amazing show of strength and courage, Allison and Mark decided to turn their love for their son Peyton into something more than just grief – they decided to turn his memory into a celebration and to walk in the March of Dimes march for babies. They raised a staggering $13,000 (that’s thirteen THOUSAND dollars!!) for the March of Dimes last year with their walk team – it’s something that I was just so honored and humbled to be a part of. All three of my children were born at 34 weeks gestation, and both Paul and Amelia spent two weeks in the NICU. The March of Dimes has always been an organization that is near and dear to my heart, but now it is even more important to our family.

This year Allison is taking it even further and holding an online auction to raise money for the March of Dimes – the prizes she has collected from generous donors are pretty spectacular – resort gift cards, prenatal yoga, and even a candle gift basket from one of my very favorite florists, Annette Gomez. Allison has also put together a beautiful Team Peyton Mark facebook page where you can go to access the team pledge page and auction all in one spot.

Last year’s walk was so incredible – to see the show of support from friends and family, and to know what a difference that we were making for the March of Dimes was so overwhelming. I can’t even begin to imagine how much bigger and better this year’s walk will be.

This year not only will Allison and Mark be walking, their family has grown and their new son, Raylan will also be walking in memory of his big brother. I am extremely behind in blogging – as this little guy is now a big, bouncing 5 month old baby boy – but please forgive my tardiness and meet my beautiful nephew – a full blog post on his newborn photos is seriously overdue!

I absolutely love taking pictures of the sky, but was feeling a bit silly posting them all the time to instagram without a good reason (does anyone ever really need a good reason to instagram?) So at the beginning of the year I decided to dedicate a project 365 (one photo a day for a year) to the sky. That way I get to take and post a sky photo every day guilt-free. Because it can’t be insta-spam if it’s for a project 365, right?

Here is the first month, all wrapped up in a pretty little collage. I can’t wait to have the whole year in one place, it’s going to be so cool!
