SAN FRANCISCO MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

We took Monalisa's maternity photos in the hills of San Francisco, well the hills of Palo Alto to be exact. I loved the scenery and the trees with leaves that looked like hanging feathers were my fave.

Sara and Spencer had a lovely wedding at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. I love the modern lines and art and the staircase and high ceilings at this venue... but then again I'm a little biased about weddings at the University of Utah. Sara is a U of U graduate and Spencer is from Huntington Beach, CA.

I was missing my ace lens (35mm 1.4) for this wedding as it was being repaired and it was definitely like a piece of me was missing because it's been my go-to lens for almost 3 years... not to mention I had to shoot with a backup zoom lens, yuck!

Sara+ Spencer started their wedding at Draper Temple, the temple on the hill... and it is so windy up there, but who doesn't love a little wind!

I don't know about you but I am always thinking about how my daughter will be when she grows up, as a teenager, in college and marriage. I observe others who seem to have respectful and well-behaved, smart and lovely daughters to see if I can pick up any tidbits on how to raise my own to be the same way. I just want the best for her and like any mother I want to teach her right from wrong and give her words of advice to help her fulfill all her dreams, keep her on the right path and help her avoid any of the downfalls I experienced. My daughter just turned 5 (haha) so I have a while to prepare ;)

a little road trip, a stop to see some redwood giants, a lighthouse, an aquarium in Monterey, some family time and finish it off with some shoots and a wedding.

Wow this year is almost over, wow.

I have been in a bit of a flurry of craziness... happy-exhausted-joyful-overwhelming-craziness.

In the midst of my busiest wedding season to date, I had our third baby,

who has been beyond anything we could've ever hoped for.

I have so much pictures to share, yet, I don't know if I want to?????

Yes, they are pictures of beautiful couples, with such great natural chemistry.
Really, I couldn't have asked for more wonderful human-beings, in love, to photograph.

However, I find myself thinking that what I'm delivering is not different enough,
it isn't good enough, I need to push myself more.

I feel like I'm on the precipice of something new for myself....

it's frustrating yet exhilarating.

This drive I feel to rediscover myself and reinvent the way I see things

and get out of this rut of "same-ness" has me on a roller coaster of
loving my work to absolutely hating it.
Who knows I most likely will share what I've been up to this year because

ultimately I loved these moments I was apart of, these people that let me into their lives,

their tears of joy and exuberant laughs...

I loved every minute of it.

I'm just at the low point of this roller coaster ride tonight.

I guess it's just the growing pains of an artist.

This shoot took place in Salt Lake and was nautical-inspired. Big thanks to their Mom for driving out of her way to pick up the boat and to Mitch Issel for renting it out to them. While taking these I noticed the special bond this brother and sister share. I was a little worried about the weather because it was kind of stormy the day of the shoot but it created a dramatic sky and dark blue tones that worked perfectly! Thanks Tuakoi Family!

A few conditions: All can enter, past clients as well. You do not have to be located in Utah to enter, our paths just have to cross within the next year. The free session can be used towards any portrait shoot except extended families and newborns as I don't shoot those. Pierce + Victoria had a summer wedding in Salt Lake City surrounded by their loving family. The decor was blush and peach and soft and feminine. The bride designed her dress and donned many headpieces courtesy of Tulet, her sister's company. I was happy to be apart of such a great celebration.

Things have been hectic, 2 toddlers and a newborn are no joke... but I'm loving every minute. Monster energy drinks have become my new craving and get me through the long nights of editing and during the day we are soaking up every bit of summer we can! Blogging, however, has been on the back burner.

April was a pretty busy month, not only was I in my last month of pregnancy, I had a bunch of shoots. So, I'll be sharing those in the next few weeks.

Inspiration board and color palette.

I get bored easily, really really easily.

It's a blessing and a curse.

In fact, I had started designing a site a few weeks ago, got bored with it and started all over again designing a new one. I had to make new custom elements and graphics including hand drawn feathers.

I think I'll stick with this one for a while, until I get bored again and then feel the need to change it up. Thank goodness I use Showit to design my site because I can change things up whenever boredom strikes.

I've used the first site I designed for my portrait site, no sense letting a few weeks of work go to waste,
so be sure to check that out as well!

Meet Malvina + James.

I'm a bad blogger, simple as that but I would still love to share this beautiful wedding with you that took place on 10.10.10.

Abbey + Rocky came from Chicago and had their wedding at Log Haven.

I always get nervous working with out of state couples on their wedding day when I haven't met or worked with them before hand on an engagement shoot or bridal shoot. But Abbey has a way of putting people at ease with her grace and happy smile and I had so much fun working with them on their special day. A big thank you to my friend Evelyn for helping me on the first wedding I shot pregnant!

This wedding was featured on the Utah Bride Blog as well as a Chicago Wedding Blog.

Abbey made this cake topper and will be opening an etsy shop soon!

I love this family.... I photographed Tommy + Fusi's wedding in San Francisco back in November of 2009, so it was nice seeing them again! This time we did their family photos in Carmel at the Mission.
