Today I am blogging from my bedroom. I don't have many books in here, they are all in the spare room. I had to look under my bed to see if there were any books I had scooted underneath and forgotten about. This was the one I found.

"Obsidian Butterfly" by Laurel K Hamilton.

"Because if you start thinking about the bad things, worrying about them, then it makes you slow, makes you afraid. Neither of us can afford that."

The copy that I am using is actually in the "Nightshade Tavern" double book that also includes "Narcissus in Chains" so my Friday 56 might not be the same sentence as in the single novel.

Today the closest book to me is actually the one I am currently reading.

A VERY BORING Friday 56 for such a fun book!!!

One of my favorite parts has been: (with the best line at the end):

"But why Mr. Darcy came so often to the parsonage, it was more difficult to understand. It could not be for society, as he frequently sat there ten minutes together without opening his lips; and when he did speak, it seemed the effect of necessity rather than of choice. He seldom appeared really animated, even at the sight of Mrs. Collins gnawing upon her own hand. What remained of Charlotte would liked to have believed this change the effect of love, and the object of that love her friend Eliza."

(and then there are a few more paragraphs... and then my favorite...):

"In her kind schemes for Elizabeth, she sometimes planned her marrying Colonel Fitzwilliam. He was beyond comparison the most pleasant man; he certainly admired her, and his situation in life was most eligible; but, to counterbalance these advantages, Mr. Darcy had a considerably larger head, and thus, more brains to feast upon."

HAHAHA!!!!! I am loving this book.

And I believe it's being made into a movie.

I am planning on reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters next!!!

Five Fave Friday!!!

Hello Everyone!

I haven't blogged my Friday Favorites in quite a long time. I'm trying to change that and update more frequently. I've been such a bad, bad blogger!

And here are my favorite things from this past week:

1. My cousin Jenny is getting married on July 10th and this is the dress that she chose for us bridesmaids to wear! I actually love it! I tried one on the other day and they are gorgeous!! It hides everything I need it to hide and completely passed the "sit-down" test. So pretty!

2. Skillet!!! They are a Christian Rock band. They are amazing. I am going to see them in concert on April 15th!!! I can't wait.

This is the cover of their newest CD.

And this is my favorite song my them. It's called "Awake and Alive."

3. Dove Chocolate Home Parties. My friend Sarah started doing chocolate parties. They are too fun! When I move into my new place I am going to have one. I bought a few things but my favorite is the Spiced Chai!!!! YUM!!!!

4. Dominos Pizza Online Tracker. This thing is so cool. You order your pizza online and then get to watch the progress of when it's being made to when the delivery person leaves the store! It's very cool!!

5. Bee M.D. Organic Honey Throat Drops. I've been sick for the past week and these babies are the only thing thats been keeping my throat from catching on fire like dry kindling!!

Those are my favorite things from this past week.

Ok so page 56 starts with a really long sentence fragment so I will count that as the first sentence. So here it is, my Friday 56:

"The dogs arfed a frantic barking salvo at the avian intruders and Charlie put so much body English into wiggling the key in the lock that he felt an atrophied dancing muscle tear in his hip."

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's pretty funny and I enjoy Christopher Moore's writing style.

Hey everyone! Sorry I am so late in announcing a winner. I wanted to actually write down everyone's names and pull from a container and record it all and upload a video...

But then my digital camera got smashed when I dropped my purse...

So I decided to use random.org and I know that a lot of people have issues with random.org. Like, if you are the first commentor, you never come up or whatever. So here is what I did. I decided to triple the number of comments and use that number... since three is a lucky number.

Just want to let you know that I am still here! I haven't gotten to update in a while because I've been super busy. I've hardly even gotten to scrapbook and that makes me pretty angry!!

Ok bloggy friends... here it is!!!

The closest book to me today is not American Gods (because it's in my purse!)

So the closest one to me is actually an older book called "Go Ask Alice"

"It felt like being a child again and trying to swim in the Great Salt Lake."

Not really interesting out of context but the character is actually talking about how it made her feel to eat a peanut while under the influence of drugs. The book is written in diary format and is "the actual story of a desperate girl on drugs and on the run who almost made it." At least thats what the back cover says. I read this one a long time ago but picked it up at a book sale we are having at work to benefit the American Heart Association. So I might read it again soon.

I have been so lax with blogging and I have good reason but I just can't post it here. But I have been finding happiness and comfort in reading other people's blogs. So today I give you my 5 favorite blogs of this past week.

1. 62 Cards - Sammye Jo - I just have to say that Sammye Jo makes me smile. Her blog is always updated with the most creative things. I am waiting for my next paycheck to grab some of her handmade buttons in her etsy store! So cute!

2. Down the Rabbit Hole - Callista - I love reading this blog!!! It's always fun and interesting! And I received the cutest Halloween mini album from her this past week!! Thank you so much@ I love it! Your's is almost finished... waiting for some things to dry... so I can add more to it!! Hopefully it will be finished this weekend.

3. The Green Frog Studio - Celine - All I can say is Wow!! So much talent and creativity here! And she posts awesome tutorials with tips and supply lists as well as super cool giveaways!

4. Jeni Boisvert - This girl is fantastic and her blog is always a favorite of mine. Her scrapping style is so funky and cool and her photography... all I can say is that I need to fly her out to PA if I ever get married so she can take pictures! I heart her!!

5. The Paper Life - This used to be Amy's Paperlife and it moved. Now it's The Paper Life but it's still just as awesome. They spotlight someone new every week and have awesome giveaways! There is even a community now but for some reason ning communties don't work well with my computer so I haven't been able to get in there and explore. I will have to have that fixed!

1. Zomieland - This was an amazing movie. Hilarious!

2. Having guy friends! I haven't had any close guy friends in a long while and now I do. And to actually hang out without it being awkward is awesome. I tried to be friends with this guy Jon a few months ago and this other girl who liked him made a stink out of it and he doesn't talk to me anymore. Apparently some people think you can't have guy friends and not want them in a more than friends way... and to that I say bullshit. Thanks!

3. Movie night! Well this includes both my 1 and 2. My friends Dan and Sean and I are going to have a weekly movie night and Zombieland was our first installment. Fido next week maybe? Eternal Sunshine? Or maybe something spooky in honor of Halloween?

4. Diet Dr Pepper Cherry! Yum!

5. My purple hair! Its pretty much just highlights and some chunks in the front but I love it!

Friday Faves!!!

This week had it's ups and downs... and I am going to be honest here that there were more downs than up. I am one of those people who like to look at the silver lining and find the lesson or message in the bad things that happen in life. These 5 things are what helped me make it through the downs this week.

1. "When I Look At You" by Miley Cyrus. If you have not heard this song, you need to. If you hated "The Climb", this song will remind you that Miley Cyrus can indeed sing and sing well. This song is beautiful and my favorite lines are "When my whole world is falling apart, when there's no light to break up the dark, that's when I, I look at you. When the waves are flooding the shore and I can't find my way home anymore, that's when I, I look at you." and "You appear just like a dream to me, just like kaliedoscope colors that cover me, all of me, every breath that I breathe. Don't you know that you're beautiful?" It's just a really pretty song.

2. Mom and I are going to take a crochet class at our local A.C. Moore's starting October 12th. I am really excited about this. I've always wanted to learn.

3. Jann Arden has a new album out!!!!! You may remember her from the 90s. She sang "Insensative" and "Good Mother." Well her new album is called "Free" and it came out this past week and I highly recommend it. So far my favorite songs are "Daughter Down" and "Until This" and "You are Everything" but I am enjoying the entire album!!

4. My company has decided to have the Geisinger Wellness Team come to work every couple of months for "Lunch and Learn" seminars. This past week they wanted to start a Walking at Work program so they gave us these cute little pedometers to count our steps during the day. This was mine at 1pm. Yeah, I definitely don't get the recommended 10,000 steps a day. But I am working on it.

5. This video that was taken in June of Kaydence (my beautiful niece) doing her butterfly dance. It's so adorable. I took it with my phone and whenever I need a pick me up or I am feeling down, I watch it. So enjoy!!

Those are my faves. I hope you like them. I have so much to do tonight because we are having a huge yard sale tomorrow morning... so no sleeping in for me!!! But maybe I will make some money so I can go to Karaoke tomorrow night! LOL

A Crafty Thursday 13

Last night was reveal night at Bad Girls Kits and it was a great time. I suggest you head on over there and check out their October kits d'art because they are gorgeous.

One of our challenges / events last night was to create some Teeny Tiny Art.

This is mine. The background is only 4x4.

Here is a more detailed picture of the rose.

So for my Thursday 13 I am presenting my list of 13 items I used in making this Teeny Tiny piece of art.

1. Cardboard. The background is a 4x4 piece of corrugated cardboard from and old shipping box.

2. Gesso. After distressing areas of the cardboard I coated it with white sandable gesso.

3. Shimmerz Spritz - I sprayed some Shimmerz Spritz over the tulle and background.

4. Tulle. I pressed some light pink and light purple tulle into the still wet gesso it adhere it. I also rolled some of the pink gesso and hot glued it for some dimension.

5. Tim Holtz Grungeboard. The heart is from the grungeboard. I also used grungeboard wings as a stencil to make the paper wings.

6. Making Memories Shimmer Paper. The Wings.

7. Alcohol Inks - I used metallic alcohol inks to color the heart. They dry pretty quick on grungeboard.

8. A fake rose - I bought this at a yard sale in a bouquet that was a quarter.

9. Shimmerz paints - I used the paints to give the rose some sparkle and color. I also used it on the tulle and background to give it some color.

10. Jenni Bowlin Studios "Adore" black bingo card. I also painted this with Shimmerz.

11. Jenni Bowlin Rhinestone Buttons. These are on the bottom left corner.

12. Prima flowers. These are also in the bottom corner.

13. Tim Holtz distressed stickles. I used a pink color for the center of my flower.

I am really happy with the way this came out. I had the adore bingo card and thought about that word for a while... and the heart with wings came to me. I hope to someday find someone that I adore who can make my heart feel like it's flying! (Yeah, cheesy, I know... but true and I am ok with that!)

Friday Faves for 9/25

It's Friday~! Woohoo!! I am so ready for this work week to be over. So far this weekend is shaping up to be quite busy! And that all starts with my number 1 this week:

1. Yard sales... but not just any yard sales.. COMMUNITY yard sales. Every September there is a HUGE community yard sale in a really nice development about 5 minutes from my apartment. This will be my 3rd year going and it's usually packed! I think there are at least 20 blocks of houses fot this sale. But since I am on a tight budget I have to give myself some rules so I don't make any impulse buys. So my rules for this yard sale are: 1. I am only looking for crafty supplies or things that I can turn into crafty supplies, and books. 2. I will not pay more than $1 for a book. 3. I will not pay more than $5 for any 1 item and for it to cost that much, it better be good. So it should be fun! I am meeting my mom and her bestie and my sister in law Melanie around 830am. So I guess I should get to bed early tonight.

2. Paramore's new CD - Brand New Eyes. I love it!!

3. Creamy dill Pickle Chips froim Herrs. They are good!

4. My new ballet flats from Payless.. they are American Eagle and so cute!

5. WeScrap.com - It's a great forum and community for scrappers. Next month they are starting monthly kits and they are right now having a Design Team Call. (I might apply... maybe..) Also they are having this super fun ABC Card Crop. There is a different challenge/theme for every letter of the alphabet that you have to make a card for. Since I've only ever made a handful of cards this is quite a challenge for me but I am having so much fun!

My favorite card so far. It was for "A" and we were given an add for inspiration. It had a lot of big pink circles and bubbles on it. So I was inspired to instead of bubbles, use rain. The white plant paper reminded me of the add so I used that and then made the pink flowers sparkle with Shimmerz and Stickles. The quote is from of my favorite movies "The Crow."

This card was for "B" and birthday. Our challenge was to use numbers on the card.

This one is for "C" and coloring. I stamped the cupcake and colored it in, added shimmerz as icing and then raised the cupcake with some foam mounting squared. Paper is Prima.

And now for 5 things that are annoying me today:

1. My car is infested with SPIDERS.. not fun!!

2. My hair used to be really dry and now all of a sudden it gets oily so fast. I don't like it.

3. It's freezing in my room at work today.

4. People who take and take and take and leave nothing for anyone else. Didn't your parents teach you to share?? or maybe not to be greedy???

5. I'm annoyed that these things are getting to me. I'm better than this.. usually.

At least today is flying by!!!!

Acrylic Album

Back in October of 2007 I became a subscriber to Bad Girls Kits. The first project kit I ever purchased was this acrylic album kit designed by the owner of Bad Girls, Wendy Rago.

I dug this out of my scrap stash a few weeks ago and decided that I wanted to work on this and not leave it sitting in it's plastic bag anymore.

This is the cover of the album.

Pages 1 and 2:

I love these big green rub ons that came with the kit.

And this picture of Kaydence is just so pretty.

This big flower was part of the techniques in the project by making the centers out of all these different layers. I like the way they came out.

One of my fave pics of Kaydence! I just love her facial expession here!

I really LOVE these huge glitter chip board letters!

I love her face in this pic too... and the black bling is just awesome.

This one is my mom's favorite picture I think.
