&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;Since 1999 and the election of Hugo Chavez, Venezuelan workers have been creating a participatory democracy which they call &lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;“Socialism for the 21&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; Century”.&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp;Host Jamie Partridge interviews former Portland organizer &lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;Patrick Leet&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;, who has spent the past five years in the midst of this “Bolivarian Revolution.”&amp;nbsp;Leet covers a range of topics, from the &lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;Venezuelan labor movement&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;, education system, the media, and housing law to the Latin American common market and neoliberal economics.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Interntional Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) local 21 &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;in Longview, Washington has put out the call to all working class people to come to Longview for an historic protest.&amp;nbsp; &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;EGT, a giant multi-natiional &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;corporation which controls one-third of the world's grain trade,&lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt; is trying to bust the ILWU&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;, one of America's most progressive and powerful unions.&amp;nbsp; EGT's first &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;grain ship will be docking soon, escorted by the U.S. Coast Guard&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Host Jamie Partridge interviews &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Meredith Reese &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;from the &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Labor Solidarity Committee of OCCUPY Portland&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;about organizing&amp;nbsp;for this pivotal battle of the 99% vs the 1%.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Postmaster General has announced the &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;imminent closure of 41 rural post offices &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;in Oregon.&amp;nbsp; The PMG claims&amp;nbsp;the postal service must shrink due to its financial crisis,&amp;nbsp;but he is&amp;nbsp;restricted by&amp;nbsp;law&amp;nbsp;from closing post offices for "economic reasons".&amp;nbsp; The &lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Rural Organizing Project &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;has stepped up to fight back.&amp;nbsp; KBOO&amp;nbsp;labor reporter Jamie Partridge was in front of the Scappoose Post Office on December 19th, the day ROP organized to OCCUPY THE POST OFFICE.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/sites/all/modules/audio/players/1pixelout.swf" width="290" height="24" &gt;

&lt;p&gt;Two progressive advocacy groups, OSPIRG, the  Oregon State Public Interest Research Group, and Environment Oregon, are  experiencing labor strife.  Today, outside the call center for the Fund for the  Public Interest, at the Portland Telephone Outreach Project, where telephone  workers fundraise for these two groups, union activists staged an informational  picket. &lt;div&gt;Fifty Oregonians joined thousands of activists from across the country to  Take Back the Capitol this week in a campaign sponsored by the OCCUPY movement,  Jobs with Justice, and the Service Employees International Union. Under the  banner of "Good Jobs, Not Cuts.  Extend Unemployment Benefits" the local  contingent was organized by We Are Oregon, Oregon Action, and SEIU locals 49 and  503.
