You can read it section by section for free or order it online from OCLC for $19.95
Another excellent article isRe-Defining the Library by Lynne Brindley, the Director of the British Library in London. It was the keynote speech at the Bielefeld Conference in 2006. References the OCLC report and articulates the challenges faced by libraries.
Hi Kelly,

Having a degree in business, I completley understand the need for marketing - no business can survive without effective marketing, and after all, isn't that what a library is? The library is in the "business" of information. And as you very effectively pointed out, since libraries are a fiscal drain on community funds, we need to prove our importance and show that funding the library is money well spent. Thanks!

Kelly - Great site! The informal tone was a perfect choice for making a persuasive voice that really spoke to the reader. You make a lot of key points about how advocacy is not working or helping libraries. I agree that positive marketing is incredibly important to the future of libraries. We need to reach out to the general public and make them more aware of the fact that we are not a community of shushers who spurn anything but moldy classics. Thanks for your entertaining and informative paper!
