4 Leadership Lessons You Can Learn From Playing 'Candy Crush'

Candy Crush - I constantly play it on my phone, and it can be quite addictive. I'm only one of the 93 million people playing daily. And sure, it's a simple game on a phone, but the truth is that leaders can actually learn a few lessons from playing:

1. Failure is meaningless. There's an interesting thing that happens when you play Candy Crush. When you fail, you play again. And again. And again. You keep playing until you win and get to the next level. Losing is only an incentive to keep playing. It's not reflective of a personal skill deficiency, nor is it an indicator of a low IQ. It means nothing.

What would happen if we approached our failures in the business world with the same mindset? Our failures would not nearly have the same stronghold on us. Our failures would not suggest that we are inherently ill-equipped to succeed, nor would they indicate that we should give up and play a different game. They would not cause us to feel self-doubt nor question our self-worth. They would mean nothing. Our failures might even provide us with some measure of instinctive incentive to keep at it.

What's the difference between Candy Crush and business? We take business so much more seriously. In all likelihood, if we approached it more like a game, our success rate would increase - and so would our fun and engagement.

2. Focus on what's being done correctly. One of my very favorite things about Candy Crush is how it responds when I do something good. It says things like "divine," "sweet" and even "delicious." Each time it praises me, it reinforces my behavior and keeps me continuing to play. Ultimately, the game celebrates those right movements and encourages me to continue making more. Amazingly enough, the Candy Crush voice does not berate me when I fail to hit the target or when I miss a great opportunity. It stays quiet and allows me to play and keep on learning, even if I fail.

As leaders, we can learn a valuable lesson from this aspect of the game. Reinforce good behavior by acknowledging it and encourage the concept of failing forward by making room for failure and expecting continued play. This is not just "being a soft leader" - it can truly be a strategic move that results in long-term loyalty and commitment.

3. Increase the challenge. When I first started playing Candy Crush, each round was relatively easy. I didn't fail all that much and my ability to get to the next level was effortless. My early wins made me keep playing. Soon, however, I noticed that the difficulty increased, as did my desire to nail each round. I think if the level of difficulty hadn't changed, I would have become bored and disengaged.

Increasing the challenge is a critical element in keeping players (and employees) engaged. Set them up to win and then challenge them to perform at higher and higher levels, knowing that they have it in them to succeed.

4. Figure it out as you go. I don't think I'm alone in this, but I did not look up or study the rules of Candy Crush before I started playing. I just downloaded the app, started playing and figured it out along the way. I discovered a few really cool things. For example, if I combine five candies of the same color and shape, I get a super ball that helps me blow through many obstacles at once. Unfortunately, I also learned that if I don't pay attention to the number of moves I have, losing comes easily.

Learning along the way and making adjustments as you go is the foundation of effective leadership. There are no instructions or automatic formulas for success. Those who succeed learn from their mistakes quickly, get back on the horse and make adjustments to increase their likelihood of success the next time around. Whether they are learning from others, reading books or experimenting, continuous learning is mandatory for leaders who are committed to achieving massive success.

UNMASKING THE SMARTDAV ANTIVIRUS

The Smartdav “anti-virus”employs the proverbial saying of "wolf's in sheep skin", since its free most persons download: it generates false scan results and gives the notion that users are free from viruses. Its being tagged as a Mal-ware because good applications are programmed for easy uninstallation after installing which we could all attest to.

Also antiviruses are to protect your computers from virus and other applications that will distort the normal function of our computer right ? But with smartdav installed most virus manage to alter the file extensions of some system files which should not be the case if one has an antivirus installed on a system. This looks like the case of an "inside-man" , more like a police officer who will mislead his team during a criminal investigation. Viruses tend to attach themselves to the systems registry and edits the system files which mostly disrupts boot option or disables some system drivers which will render your PC useless over time .

How do delete SmartDav from your PC.

1. The conventional deletion from control panel does not work so you need to disable the application firstly.
2. Go to drive C: open program files, search for Smartdav and delete the app from there. Should this option fail;
3. Place your cursor on the Taskbar and right click , select task manager , you will see a series of running programs, select smartdav and end session.

4. Now after disabling the application from running you go back to drive C:/ program files and delete smartdav your computer.

I personally prefer windows defender and will recommend it to anyone who wants to be protected from antiviruses and malwares, its prepackaged with the windows operating system, receives constantly updates from Microsoft which makes it the best free antivirus on the market. Below you will be guided on how to activate windows default anti spy-ware application.

How to enable windows defender on your windows laptop.

Uninstall any Antivirus programs currently installed on your computer.
Hold down the “windows key + Q”, this will launch the search function on your system. Alternatively you could go to the start menu, click on the windows icon and type windows defender in the search option provided.
When windows defender shows up as a result of search, tap or click on it to launch the program. If the program is turned on, you will be greeted with a dialog box telling you so.
If defender is off refer to the search function mentioned earlier in step (1) and type in “action” from results select action center ,you will see options for spyware and virus protection. Both will tell you whether Windows defender is turned on or off and will give you the option to do so.

ONCE ENABLED VIEW YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS AND UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND MAKE SURE THE ANTIVIRUS IS UP-TO-DATE.

photo sharing app, Instagram, you'd agree with me that a major challenge of users with multiple accounts is switching between the various accounts. Currently, the only way to do so is to log out and login again with the other account.
However, starting this week, that would be history. The company announced some hours ago via their account that a feature that allows users to add and switch between multiple accounts is on the way.
Hence users would easily switch between accounts by tapping on the relevant account...

Artificial intelligence is development of applications that enable machines mimic human reasoning abilities and make decisions based on reason like we humans.

Currently major tech industries are looking to integrating (A.I) into our daily routine with self driving cars industrial robots, auto piloting in airplanes are all examples of artificial intelligence, any malfunction in the software or hardware of these devices could prove really disastrous. No major organization has control of the internet and this is evident since we are regular victims of identity theft , virus infecting our computers, worms and worst of all the internet becoming a recruiting platform for terrorist organization.

I believe with these basic reasons you will understand why the world is not ready for the integration of A.I into our society , Professor Stephen Hawking had this to say on the subject of Artificial Intelligence."The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race."

There is no configuration needed, as long as your iOS device is WiFi-connected to the same network your Roku player is on. Notable exception are some (e.g. Qwest/Actiontec) routers, which do not support the auto-discovery protocol – for those the player will have to be added manually by tapping on “Other” in Settings.
COMPATIBILITY: Remote4Roku works with all “Roku” digital video players. This includes

Roku1, Roku2, Roku3, Roku Streaming Stick (HDMI or “Roku-ready” MHL variety), RokuTV, as well as the previous generations (LT, HD, XD, XS, XDS, DVP, SD, HD-XR, NTV250).

Over the last 24hours, news all over the internet space tells us that Google founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin have formed a new company called Alphabet Inc .

"Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet. I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President." said Larry Page on the company's website

The founders explained that the move was geared towards enabling them do more ambitious things under a parent company.

Unfortunately, alphabet.com was unavailable for purchase, hence the company's url; https://abc.xyz which of course sums up the idea of the "alphabet". They also highlighted "G" is for Google which suggests that they intend to have a venture which starts with each letter of the alphabet...Can't wait to see the numerous inventions from the company.
