Designing With Vintage/Antique Images + Layered PSD Files

I was experimenting with using vintage images for a cover design and got off on a few design tangents (I’m sure that’s never happened to you, right). Hours later I had some interesting looking pieces that never ended up in a design - but they were fun to put together. May as well share! Any and all parts of these files can be used in personal or commercial works.

I’m giving away 2 high-resolution, layered Photoshop files. I admit they are a bit strange… both have a girl from the early 1900s. She is walking a dog in the original creative commons, copyright-free image. However I wanted to twist it up a bit.

LOOKING LASS
The first layered Photoshop design includes an original title logo design, Looking Lass. It was all part of the experiment. Use it if you like. It’s a vector smart object that will open in Illustrator. I took the background image at a bonsai exhibit in North Carolina, getting in really close using the macro function on my consumer grade Powershot camera. I liked the idea of her walking something fragile out of the setting so I worked in the butterfly. Play around with the layers, take what you want. All the imagery is free of copyright or is original creation.

COVER DESIGN TEMPLATE
The second free download features our little girl again, this time walking a lizard… why?…. well why not?? The inspiration for this came from the title it was designed for, Epoch. The request was for something very ‘out of the box’ that vaguely eludes to the cyclical nature of time. This was one rejected concept. Again - take what you like. It’s all original creation or free from copyright. The title font is NOT included, but you can get it here.

City/Old Factory Vectors

Here is some city and factory themed free vector art. Two vectors are of an old factory with chain link fences and electrical power lines. The other vector graphic is a view along a downtown city street. Can you name the city?

I took that city photo sometime ago and started a design idea, which went in a completely different direction. What remains is the original inspiration, which is included with today’s free vector download. It’s a layered Photoshop file using a variety of layer blending modes to build up colors and create drama and movement. Enjoy.

Classic Vintage Ornate Border Frame Vector Graphic

This fancy frame/border is design-ready. Just drop a title in one of the two open areas and you’re good to go. It’s a classic vector from an engraving over 150 years old! The column-like flourish details are preserved. Two cherubs are centered in the bottom section.

The free vector download is an EPS (Illustrator v8) for compatibly with most graphic design programs. This vector graphic can be used for both personal and commercial works.

Seamless Tile Floral Wallpaper Background

Seamless patterns have been recently requested here at KeepDesigning. We’re working on some tiled vector art patterns but until then, this nice vector was created by ~gtsat. It’s a lovely traditional floral wallpaper that can be tiled to create a wallpaper pattern/background of any size.

We’ve saved an EPS version (Illustrator v8) for compatibly with most graphic programs. According to ~gtsat, this vector graphic can be used for both personal and commercial works.
