Is Bible prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes?

This is a very interesting question in which you will undoubtedly get varying answers. The following is a list of 14 possible prophecies that may be either already fulfilled or are in the process of being so.

The past few days have been quite cold here in south Florida. Then yesterday morning it was warm and the winds were coming out of the south. I told my wife that it will rain soon and within an hour it started raining. She looked at me as if saying "How did you know that?" I then looked at her with a puzzled expression and replied, "How can you not read the signs of the weather?" This immediately brought to mind the words of Jesus when he was comparing the signs of the weather to the signs of his second coming. How is it that we can read the signs of the weather so easily yet we can not discern the signs of the times? With that being said, what are these signs? Do we see these things today?

I am not sure if these are in fact prophecies or simply one interpretation among many, but it is a good read nonetheless:

1.Rebirth of Israel in 1948 (Ezekiel 38:8)
2.Jerusalem a "hotspot" internationally (Zechariah 12:1-3)
3.Birthpangs leading into 7-year Tribulation (Matthew 24:7-9)
4.Appearance of the Anti-Christ on the world stage now (Daniel 11:21-23,Revelation 6:2)
5.Mideast Peace Agreement (Daniel 9:27,Daniel 11:21-23)
6.7-Year Tribulation (Matthew 24:9,Revelation 6:1,Revelation 20:3)
7.Skyrocketing Commodities like "wheat and barley",oil and gold (Revelation 6:6)-predicted to occur just inside the 7-yr.Tribulation.
8.Russia and Iran ready together to attack Israel (Ezekiel 38:5,15,16;Revelation 6:4,12)-predicted to occur just inside the 7-yr.Tribulation.
9.A fourth of the earth will die from global disease,war,and famine (Revelation 6:8)-predicted to occur just inside the 7-yr.Tribulation.
10.New,(3rd),Jerusalem Temple prepared to be built by Israel Jews (Revelation 11:1-2)-predicted to occur after the signing of Mideast Peace Agreement.
11.Final Kingdom formed in Western Europe (Revelation 13:1-3,Revelation 17:9-10)
12.Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16-17)-predicted to occur midway through 7-yr.Tribulation.
13.One World Government (Revelation 13:1-10)-will occur at the mid-7 year point.
14.Euphrates river dries up (Revelation 16:12)

What happened in China recently?

What recently happened in China? Two seismic monitoring stations, some 1300 miles apart, both reported an 8.6 earthquake yet China reports nothing.

Yes, multiple reports indicate that something big happened in China. This *might* be a reporting error or machine error but the chances of multiple stations having the same error at the same time with the same results is pretty slim. So what happened in China - I don't know but you can look at the reports below:

Below are two screen snapshots from reporting stations that still show an earthquake occurred. The INSF is from Switzerland and Red Puma is from Romania.

The third screen shot of EMSC looks like they are claiming this event is a reporting error. A 'reporting error' from three different seismic stations in three different countries seems a bit far fetched.

It seems apparent that something did in fact happen. I am still awaiting word from the U.S.G.S.

Naked Body Scanners - More than meets the eye!

Recently it was announced that in order to remain safe during flights we must expose our (and our childrens) naked body to random strangers. It is said that these scanners don't really show naked images of your body - is this true? Also, why is there no mention of the M.I.T. study that shows that these new scanners unzip and damage your D.N.A.?

So what do these new scanners show? Can these images be modified to reveal more? Below is an example of how this scanner can detect objects otherwise hidden from view:

With some simple image editing software we are easily able to convert this image into this.

So as you can see, these images may reveal more than you are comfortable with. Keep this in mind when your 13 year old daughter is passing through this scanner. Also, keep in mind the quality of people who are currently fulfilling these positions at the TSA! You essentially have uneducated people off the street viewing the naked bodies of your daughters...and no, no one is any safer for it.

THz waves unzip DNA!

These new scanners use a band of electromagnetic radiation called TeraHertz to create its images. You may already be familiar with X-rays accomplishing much the same thing. Along our electromagnetic radiation spectrum we encounter everything from visible light to microwaves, radiowaves and x-rays. In this vast spectrum we also encounter the TeraHertz band. This band is just beyond the infra-red and on the below diagram is in purple.

Now, if you would like to read some real information regarding the actual safety of these devices that EVERYONE will be forced to submit to, I would suggest starting with M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). They recently published an article explaining how TereHertz waves unzip the double helix D.N.A. structure.

If this all wasn't bad enough

Now some agencies are trying to develop portable versions of these devices that can be carried in a patrol car and used on the street. Now imagine that, the local police sitting in their cars with their new "x-ray" guns looking at the people walking by...Is this OK to all of you???????? Do police officers need to see everyone naked in order to do their job? I guess all the pedophiles and perverts will be filling out applications at TSA and other law enforcement agencies now.

Will We See Christ's Return? - The Last Generation

We know from the Scriptures that the first generation began with Adam and Eve. Noah was the tenth generation. Which generation do we represent? And, which generation of people was Christ talking about that would see His return when He said: "'This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" (Mt 24:34)? By J. Michael Hile

The answer to this elusive, 2000-year-old question may be closer than we think, if the many prophecies we see converging on the horizon continue their march towards fulfillment in the 21st century.

The Generation of His Coming

Perhaps the most intriguing and controversial prophetic Scripture passage found in the Bible is contained in the Olivet Discourse. This dynamic "end times" message by Jesus, contained in Matthew 24 and 25, Mark 13, and Luke 21, describes major events that will impact the Jewish people just before the Lord returns to set up His Kingdom.

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory'Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. -Matthew 24:30-36

This remarkable prophecy of future events, given by Jesus on Mount Olivet after leaving the Jewish temple in Jerusalem, was in response to three questions from His disciples: "When shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world" (Mt 24:3)? The generation that will be living on the earth when Christ returns is alluded to in this discourse. The belief that the generation Jesus was talking about was the generation that passed away in 70 A.D. does not fit within the context of a literal return of Christ back to earth, as described in the Scriptures preceding and following the parable of the fig tree. Two questions one might raise about this unique generation and other generations described in the Bible are: 1) How long is a generation? and 2) Which generation was Christ talking about?

The Generation Question

One of the most perplexing and sought-after answers among students of Bible prophecy is the length of a generation. There is much disagreement among both secular and religious writers concerning the length of a generation. Is the length of a generation 40 years? When Israel became a nation in 1948, some believed that Israel's birth date marked the beginning of the generation that would see all the events leading up to the Second Coming of Christ. This theory was based upon the generation alluded to in the parable of the fig tree, in which the fig tree was symbolic of the nation Israel. (For a more detailed study of the fig tree in Biblical history, see Judg 9:8-15; Jer 24:1-10; Lk 13:6-9; Mt 21:17-21; Mk 11:11-14, 20-21; Lk 19:41-44; Rom 11:1,2,25-27; Isa 66:8; Mt 24:32-51; Mk 13:28-37; Lk 21:29-36; and Rev 6:13.)

When 40 years passed in 1988 without fulfillment of any of the events surrounding the Second Coming of Christ, the 40-year generation theory fell into disrepute. Either 1948 was not the starting date for the generation described in the fig tree parable, or a generation must be longer than 40 years, according to the theory. Additional arguments put forth claimed that 1967, the year Jerusalem was captured, or some other future date could be the birth of the generation that would see the return of Christ.

Some proponents of the "end times" generation theory questioned whether 40 years was actually the length of a generation today. Is there any evidence to suggest that the length of a generation is longer than 40 years? A few sources hold that a generation is now 20 to 30 years in length (but this better represents a generation "gap"). Other opinions range from 40 to 100 years. Just how long is a generation today? Is there an answer to the generation question?

The Longevity of Mankind

A generation, as described in the Bible, begins at conception and ends at death (Gen 17:6-9; Ps 22:30; Jer 1:4,5; Act 13:36; Josh 24:29-31). The length of a generation is not an arbitrary period of time that occurs within the life span of an individual or group of people. Joshua's age at the time of death, 110 years (including 9 months gestation), was the length of the generation he represented. Some of his generation died before him and some after him. Consequently, the average life span of a group of people living at about the same time constitutes the length of that generation.

The length of a generation has not always been constant since the days of Adam and Eve. Before the Biblical flood, the average life span of man was over 900 years. Today, if a person lives to be a hundred years old, it is a special occasion in which the person is accorded celebrity status. In order to understand how long a generation is today, it will be helpful to know what the length of a generation was before the Flood and what happened to the life span of man immediately following the Flood. Has man's life span increased, decreased or stayed the same down through the centuries?

[This chart]1 shows that the average length of a generation was about 930 years for those living before the Flood but decreased to around 120 years by the time Moses crossed the Red Sea and ended his 40-year sojourn in the wilderness of Sinai. Since there are not very many 120-year-old individuals walking around today, it is apparent that the average life span is no longer 120 years. Eli, a High Priest and Judge of Israel whose life bridged the 13th and 12th centuries B.C., died at the age of 98 years (1 Sam 4:15). According to the Scriptures, he was considered to be a "very old" person at the time of his death (1 Sam 2:22).

The Wilderness Generation

Perhaps the most widely held belief for the length of a generation is forty years. A 40-year period was required for the disobedient generation of Moses' day to die off in the wilderness. Those who hold to the forty-year generation concept do not take into account the total age of those who had sinned against the Lord. The curse was to be against the men who had reached twenty years of age (Num 32:11-13, Ps 95:8-11, Heb 3:7-11). After the 40-year judgment period was completed, there were no men left older than 60 years of age except Joshua and Caleb. Although Joshua was not a descendant of Moses or Aaron, he represented the succeeding generation that was to enter the "Promised Land." Joshua and Caleb were the only two males permitted to live after the Lord cursed the rebellious generation that would not return and retake their land in Canaan. So forty years could not have been the length of that generation, but it was the time God allotted for that generation to die off. Most of the recorded life spans during this time were well over 40 years. Aaron was 123, Moses 120, Joshua 110, and Caleb was over 85 when their generations died off.

A View from the Psalmist

Disregarding untimely or unnatural deaths due to epidemics, famine, and war, there is evidence in the Scriptures and in recent history to support a 70 to 80 year life span for the past 3000 years. The evidence for a 70 to 80 year life span was present during the 10th century B.C., during the reign of King David (c.1010-970). As David approached the end of his life, he was considered to be an old man by those living at that time. The Scriptures reveal that David served his generation and was seventy years old when he died (1 Chr 23:1; 2 Sam 5:4; 1 Kgs 2:10; Act 13:36). Perhaps the most significant declaration in the Bible for the life span of man is given in Psalm 90. The Psalmist states that the life span of man is seventy years, with eighty years being the upper range of normal life expectancy.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away. -Psalm 90:9,10

If 70 to 80 years still represents the length of a generation, as described in Psalm 90:9,10, one would expect the life span of those living today to be close to that figure. The life expectancy of those living in the United States in 1850 was less than 40 years but increased to 47 years by 1900 and then mushroomed to 77 years (1999) by the end of the 20th century. 2 According to the 2002 World Almanac and Book of Facts, the average life expectancy in the United States is 77 years (74 years for males and 80 years for females). For Israel it is 79 years (77 years for males and 81 years for females). The average life expectancy at birth for Israel is projected to be 82 in the year 2025.3

Which Generation was Christ Talking About?

With Israel back in their land after almost 2000 years of dispersion (the Diaspora) and other end time prophecies coming into focus, the Jewish people now living in Israel could very well be the generation Christ was talking about. Luke's version of the fig tree parable, which mentions the fig tree (Israel) and all the trees (nations of the world-see Judg 9:8-20; Dan 4:26; Ps 2:1-12; Mt 25:31,32), states:

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you. This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. -Luke 21:29-33

If the length of David's generation, Christ's generation, and the average life span of those living today in Israel is between 70 and 80 years (a 3000-year span), it would be reasonable to conclude that the generation Christ was talking about in the parable of the fig tree will also be 70 to 80 years in length. If the fig tree in this parable represents the nation of Israel, as many prophetic scholars believe, and the generation that is described has a life span of 70 to 80 years, then recent events such as the rebirth of Israel as a nation (Isa 66:8), the Jerusalem controversy in the "end times" (Zech 12:1-3), preparations for rebuilding the Jewish Temple (Rev 11:1,2), and the ongoing negotiations for a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians (Dan 9:27) are strong indicators that the generation Christ was talking about has already been born, and the return of Jesus Christ to establish His reign for a thousand years is close at hand.

The Most Significant End Time Prophecy

The "end time" events described in the Olivet Discourse and the book of Revelation could not take place without Israel back in their land. Israel's return to the land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the 20th century is the most important event that signals the soon return of Jesus Christ.

...I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime...And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. -II Samuel 7:10-16

Israel's rebirth as a nation has also served as a catalyst for other "end time" prophecies that are beginning to converge on the world scene (Dan 2:42-22; Ezek 38-39). The Apostle Paul told us "...that in the last days perilous times shall come" (2 Tim 3:1-7). Jesus said there would be a time of worldwide conflict and wars that would be "the beginning of sorrows" (Mt 24:8). Christ said, "except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved'" (Mk 13:20).

The ability of man to destroy all flesh on the earth became a real possibility for the first time in the history of the world during the second half of the 20th century with the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. The 21st century will witness an unprecedented increase in surveillance and eavesdropping as the global government "big brother" system wraps its tentacles around every aspect of human life, while promising "peace and security" to those who relinquish their freedoms (Rev 13:16-18; 1Thess 5: 3).

Christians who take the Bible seriously should be actively watching the prophetic shadows that are appearing in today's headlines. And as we entertain the possibility that we may be the generation Jesus was talking about in the fig tree parable nearly 2000 years ago, we are admonished by the Scriptures to watch and be prepared (Mt 24: 37-51).

As stated clearly by Jesus in Matthew and Mark, no man knows the day or the hour of his coming, but the Father only. The same Jesus, however, was very angry with the Pharisees and Scribes for not discerning "the signs of the times" (Mt 16:3) and not knowing the "time of their visitation" (Lk 19:44).

One day there will be a generation of Christians that will escape the grip of death and be ushered into Heaven, the "final frontier" for believers (1 Thess 4:13-5:11). The generation that is "left behind" will face the ruthless tyranny of a global dictatorship (Rev 13:11-18). The world stage is now being set for the closing act of this dispensation, and the climax of world history (Christ's return) is drawing near. As God's children, we may very well be the generation that is chosen to "escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man" (Lk 21:34-36). That possibility is certainly worth pondering!

Wow, was 2009 some year or what!?!? Economic collapses, pandemic flu strains in the wild, multiple ongoing wars etc... Who would have thought we would be seeing all this over such a brief moment in time?

Yet another global warming contradiction...

Climategate is certainly making news and I for one am glad to see it. Shouldn't science honestly give time to both sides of an argument? Especially in light of some recent glaring contradictions...is someone trying to save face?

I am not convinced that global climate change isn't real. On the contrary, I do believe the Earth going through climatic changes, but I am beginning to doubt that we are the cause of it.

As a kid I was told in school that we are causing a big hole in the sky by using our aerosol products and car exhaust. This big hole in our ozone layer was the reason our Earth was warming up. I remember that in order to *stop* the warming we had to fix the hole...Now I read this:

According to this article there is a hole in our ozone layer that is beginning to repair/close. If this hole closes the Earth will warm up.

What does this mean?

Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see...period. make up your own mind based on the data available to you. And remember, just because someone is an authority in a particular field doesn't make them right!

Today China is quite the player on the world stage. In fact, many think China is poised to become the worlds next global super-power. There is little doubt, China is no longer sleeping, and they are a giant, but could they be the next super-power?

Militarily, China is a nuclear power and gets to sit at the table with the rest of the world rulers, but China's military might does not stop there. China has what many have called the 200 million man army. Think about that for a second! That is an army of (literally) biblical proportions! Based on China's current military strength, I don't think anyone will be invading them anytime soon.

Economically China has some work to do. Although they are growing by leaps and bounds, as of now their markets depend largely on American consumerism. This will have to change if they want to build lasting economic security for themselves. And things are changing. Recently, China has formed various alliances with other nations involving many aspects of economics. They have aligned with Russia in insisting that the world move away from the dollar and into a global currency backed by the IMF. This has greatly influenced the OPEC arrangement. You see, as of now the entire world can only buy oil in U.S. Dollars (or more accurately, Federal Reserve Notes). This means that if China wants to buy oil from Saudi Arabia then they have to pay for that oil with U.S. Dollars. This arrangement forces all the other nations of the developing world to stock-pile U.S. dollars, this in-turn allows us to sell them our debt. This is how we, as Americans, have lived so rich the past few decades (Especially since 1971 when we came off the gold standard). We have been borrowing it (by trading mere paper, treasuries and bonds, for actual goods)...and now the gig is up. They have also joined with India, Brazil and Russia in forming the BRIC trading bloc. This BRIC bloc could easily match any aggregate power derived from the EU, not too mention give these countries stability even when the world reserve currency is waining. One great move China has done in looking ahead is to stake out ownership of all rare-earths. This is going to prove very valuable to them as the world moves ahead with our technologies as China will find themselves controlling the 'oil' of the 21 century.

China has been maneuvering and positioning themselves within the political arena for years. China has their hands in the panama canal and many other strategic places on the Earth...surprise surprise! They are in a position to be heard and I think they are getting ready to speak. All China has to do is start liquidating their dollar holdings and the rest of the world will panic and do the same (in order to get some return for *their* investment in *our* prosperity.)

Why would China do this? I don't know, and maybe they won't but let's just look at some facts. For starters, The U.S. uses almost half of the entire available resources. This means that other nations, like China and Russia and India (which happen to outnumber the U.S. by *billions* of people) have to get by on what we don't use or throw away. How long can you ask a nation to stand by and not only put up with this...but finance it. In a sense, China is our enabler. Why would they buy into this...well, they have been getting fairly rich in the process too.

But the world of the future is going to be much different from the world of the past. I have a hard time seeing another Rome or U.S. The scene of the world is changing and we must accept this. We are venturing into uncharted waters and we will soon experiment with new forms of government. The new governments will be based on the global community. China will certainly have a prominent place at the table, but so will other mighty nations. America too, no doubt, will have her place at the table but not as a ruler or even an example -- The truth is closer along the lines of we will mostly fund this new global government and supply it with a military arm.

One might ask, "How can we avoid this from happening?" The answer is you can't. It is inevitable. Picture yourself around the year 75 A.D. Rome has solidified its dominance and at that time, there was nothing that could bring her down. Now she is simply a tourist destination. The era of city-states has run its course. Things *do* change and we must move with these changes. America has done well and will continue to for some time I hope, but we will be taken down a few notches in order to further promote the globalist agenda. I do not see China or any other nation becoming an empire as we have; the world is too volatile and another world war would be very, very bad for all. We can't stop this, but we can hopefully have a strong influence over it in order to keep it palatable to us. Even as Rome was falling apart it survived for awhile as the Byzantine empire.

I tell you, pay attention to these events because we are witnessing history in the making...most of us just don't realize it yet.

A computer hacker was able to obtain some evidence that the global warming insiders know it is a hoax...And we have the files as released by this hacker.

Many of you have been reading about the global warming debate. No doubt a good percentage of those don't know on which side of the fence to choose. Recently a computer hacker was able to obtain some important data that should help shed light on what the insiders think.

An experiment with socialism

A college level economics class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Really, I have never been very passionate about this issue one way or another. I have generally landed on the pro-choice side of the fence; although I would choose not to. I'm not trying to be politically correct, that's just the we way I viewed this matter...that is until I saw real abortions on film in a college class.

I will not get involved in this whole abortion issue...it's not my battle. But I will say this:

ANYONE who wants to get an abortion should be made to watch a few abortions before they can continue with the procedure. Once they know and fully understand what it is that they are going to do to the child in their womb...then (and only then) should they make that decision. There is no playing dumb later if/when judgment day arrives.

Have you ever wondered if animals have emotions, more specifically, do they mourn? Is it possible for animals to comprehend death?

America is often referred to as the breadbasket of the world, and rightly so as we are among the largest global producers of grains, wheat and other staple food products. This being the case when our harvests suffer, the global reserves are strained. In fact, here in the US, a combination of biofuel subsidies and record rainfall has experts worried...not too mention that prices may never be this low again. A possible food crisis could be just over the horizon.

Is there really an NAU (North American Union) or is that just hype? I don't know, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

Are we witnessing the formation of a global government? Is the world being divided up into power blocs? I honestly don't know. I do know that over the course of thousands of years of recorded history, things are forever changing. Governments and empires rise and fall, revolutions and new "enlightened" social experiments run their gamut. Should we really be so bold as to imagine that the brief slice of history we call present day America would endure forever in its present form?

Headline: Italian scientist reproduces Shroud of Turin

ROME (Reuters) - "An Italian scientist says he has reproduced the Shroud of Turin, a feat that he says proves definitively that the linen some Christians revere as Jesus Christ's burial cloth is a medieval fake..."

Personally I am skeptical of the entire story. I am not convinced the shroud is the burial shroud of Christ and on top of that I am not sure this duplication can match the press it has received.

"...The shroud, measuring 14 feet, 4 inches by 3 feet, 7 inches bears the image, eerily reversed like a photographic negative, of a crucified man some believers say is Christ.

We have shown that is possible to reproduce something which has the same characteristics as the Shroud," Luigi Garlaschelli, who is due to illustrate the results at a conference on the para-normal this weekend in northern Italy, said on Monday..."

Dr. Oz says his kids aren't taking the H1N1 flu vaccine shot.

There certainly is a lot of hype going around about H1N1. The media outlets seem determined to create an atmosphere of fear. A vocal H1N1 propagandist, Dr. Oz, admitted on a recent CNN interview that his kids won't be taking the vaccine.

Dr. OZ (from Oprah) has been telling people that they have to get the swine flu shot. He has been quite the propaganda tool, even proudly professing that he has received the shot. Recently in a CNN interview he admitted his kids aren't going to take the vaccine!

Now imagine this...if the swine flu really is deadly (like the media says it is) and the vaccine really does protect against it...wouldn't a doctor 'in the know' make sure his kids got it??? So, why won't he insist that his kids get protected from a dangerous virus? This is quite obvious to me. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Ancient Egyptian coins found bearing the name of Joseph

An Egyptian paper claims that archaeologists have discovered ancient Egyptian coins bearing the name and image of the Biblical Joseph. Some of the coins also have a 'cow' image impressed on them.

Not too long ago there were reports that a ring bearing the name of Joseph was found. Today I read an article that claims that ancient coins found in an archaeological dig in Egypt bear the name of Joseph. Apparently there was also found coins bearing a cow and the name of Joseph. This is said to be a reference to Pharaohs dream of 7 fat cows and thin cows.

This in itself does not prove anything of divine origin. It does however indicate that the ancient Egyptians were familiar with the Joseph story. Why though would they make coinage representing this event had it not been an important (and potentially real) event to them?

God: Why the silent treatment?

Many pray to God and get no answer. This ritual repeats, without change, for years on end. How can we come to love a being, much less see him as our Father, when he seemingly ignores our every word?

This question has kept me up many nights, for I am one of those individuals who pray and receive no answers...just more questions. I have really struggled with this.

Could there be a logical reason for this silent treatment from God?

Many assume that if something happens then there must be a reason for it...In my experience I have found this is not always the case. On the other hand, the Bible does say that God is a God of purpose. This meaning that if He does something, then there must be a reason for it. But this answer simply illustrates my point. Why do we have to take the words of old Jewish books, that for all intents and purposes were written by men. In a world filled with deception and confusion, why doesn't God just talk to people and let them know what is going on etc...like any good father would?

Look at the below image...this is how we are told to think about God:

How can we honestly view God like this if we never hear from him? When he always leaves us in the dark yet expects us to follow his 'commands', whatever those are.

A possible solution to this problem:

"Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth." [John 9:41]

How is this a solution?

Well, in a sense it follows the principle of, 'to whom much is given much will be asked back.' Look at what Jesus actually said here: "If ye were blind, ye should have no sin" - In other words, since the blind man who was healed admittedly had no knowledge of these events, he was considered innocent. The pharisees, on the other, hand made a point to correct Christ as they went on to show him how they were not blind. The pharisees KNEW what the deal was (so they thought)...and on that account Jesus says they would be counted as guilty.

In other words, the fact that God doesn't talk to us and tell us what's going on leaves us in a state of ignorance. We are sheep without a shepherd, but ultimately this could simply be a means by which God declares us to "have no sin".
