Do you love movies? I do, and I love renting my movies from Redbox (Redbox fans, you know what I’m talking about!).

Renting movies from Redbox is so easy and convenient, not to mention a frugal entertainment option.  I just head to my local Redbox location, pick a movie, and voilà! We are ready to watch!

No lines, no waiting. No problem.

I was super excited to see they just added a Redbox kiosk right outside my local Walgreens. And we all know how much I love me some Wags.

Redbox now has a feature where you can reserve your movie online for even easier renting. If you have an iPhone, you can download their Redbox app for even more renting fun.

What is Redbox?

Redbox specializes in the vending of rental DVDs via self-service/interactive kiosks.

Redbox kiosks are located across the United States in fast food restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and convenience stores. The machines can be identified by their trademark red appearance and the slight arching of their top surface, as seen in the company’s logo. source

I can hear you groaning. Another post about toilet paper? Yes, indeed. But this simple tip is potentially life-changing for those with young children. Or cats.

A huge factor in saving money is reducing waste. But how do you reduce waste in the bathroom? (No pun intended).

Does this scene look familiar?

How about this one?

Sure, you can save money on toilet paper by switching to a high-quality value brand, like White Cloud, and using coupons. (Just had to throw that in there).

But to really save, you must simply use less. There is a simple way to prevent the debacles pictured above. I give you… The Roll-Squeeze-Under Technique:

Before you install the roll on the holder, squeeze it together so that the tube is no longer round. For extra precaution against curious toddlers and mischievous kitties, hang it under.  This makes the roll unroll slowly and takes a little more effort, thus reducing extra use.

How easy is that? This simple trick will save money and sanity, not mention fewer clogs and flushes.

I am typically not a casserole fan. Except when it comes to breakfast. Oh yes, there is nothing better than warm egg-y, cheesy, baked goodness in the morning.

I have been making this particular casserole for years to share at MOPS meetings. The food of course, is a big reason I have enjoyed MOPS for the last seven years.

I usually throw this together in about ten minutes, so I am not sure of the exact measurements. You can easily adjust the amounts to suit your family’s tastes.

Quick and Easy Breakfast Casserole

8-10 large eggs
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (I prefer a combo of cheddar and monterey jack)
4-5 slices bread (sourdough is the best, but any bread will do)
1 cup milk
1/4 cup crumbled sausage
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cut the crusts off the slices of bread and chop roughly into 1-inch cubes. Cover the bottom of a greased 9×13 baking dish with the pieces.

Whisk together eggs and milk in a large mixing bowl. Add garlic salt and pepper.  Sprinkle about half the cheese evenly over the bread.

Then add the sausages crumbles and the remainder of the cheese.

(This is where I use 2 Morningstar Farms meatless sausage patties, chopped. Shhhh… nobody ever knows!)

Pour the egg mixture slowly into the pan, covering all of the bread.

Bake for approximately 25 minutes, uncovered.

Slice into squares and serve immediately (or as quickly as possible after loading up the minivan with two kids and heading to MOPS).

I promise this tastes better than it looks!  You might also try bacon crumbles or turkey sausage.  Or make it meatless and go for some zesty green chiles.

Casseroles are such a frugal and easy way to feed a large group of hungry moms. Enjoy!

Have I mentioned how much I adore all things Picnik? Not only is it a fantastic resource for quick and easy online photo editing, (check out my frugal Christmas card photo) but bloggers will also appreciate the many options for DIY graphics.

Need a quick button? Logo? Even a header? Picnik to the rescue. No graphic design experience is necessary to enjoy the user-friendly features.

A bloggy button by a designer can cost upwards of $25!  But check out this quick one I whipped up myself on Picnik for an upcoming carnival.

I started with an image I purchased for one credit on iStockphoto, but any image will do.

Here is the “before”.

I uploaded this image to my Picnik account, cropped it and added a border. Then I added my text, and chose the fonts, colors, and exact locations.

Here are the results, after about ten minutes of playing with the options:

Not bad for a total amateur, huh? There are so many possibilities with Picnik, I could spend hours simply exploring.

Picnik has a limited free version that is perfect for basic editing and storage. There are some even cooler features with the paid premium for $24.95 a year (about $2.08 per month).

Keep in mind that if you are blogger who monetizes, you can write this off as a business expense on your taxes. I have enjoyed the paid version for several months and feel it is well worth the cost!
