Untold Storyteller's Secret

Untold Storyteller's Secret
Though Mr. Waits's recordings of their compositions are often dressed with unorthodox arrangements that blend elements of Weimar cabaret, Mexican folk, industrial rock, postbop and R&B, the songs can be stripped down to their essentials. Over a cup of hot tea, he reminds his visitor he was a solo performer for a long while.

Gleefully mixing metaphors, he said of an emerging song: "I have to be willing to look at it like a three-legged table. If you've got three legs, you know it can stand up. Then we can put stripes on its tie or give it a toupee, but you need to have something to hang it on." He added: "I'm usually more about the nucleus of it all."

The arrangements are fleshed out in the studio: "I don't go in with a blueprint like I'm building a box," he said. On "Bad as Me," Mr. Waits is surrounded by an extraordinary cast, including Les Claypool, Flea, Charlie Musselwhite, Patrick Warren and the songwriters' son Casey Waits on drums. The guitarists include David Hidalgo, Keith Richards and Marc Ribot. They all get plenty of room to move.

"Sometimes you tell a musician 'I want to hear what comes to you.' You don't even tell them what you want them to play." On "Get Lost," Mr. Waits said, "David played a riff that sounds like a Ray Charles Wurlitzer. But he didn't play it again." Ms. Brennan found it on the recording of an earlier take. "She said, 'This is the foundation.'"

The arrangement of "Chicago," the album's opener, is built on a banjo figure by Mr. Waits. "I made it sound like an old-time train bell. That stayed in. We built on it. We started a groove."

Ashton Kutchler Durability strongman non stop Sara Leal Explisit Say

22-year-old woman who works as an administrative assistant says that Kutcher is a good man. He also admitted, when having sex, they are not using contraception.

"It's not weird or perverted. Ashton also do not wear condoms when we had sex, "said Leal told Hollywood Life page.

"He has good durability. At that time, we had sex about two hours," he told a different media, The Sun.

He remembers Kutcher also told, that she enjoyed her intimate relationship with Leal. It's nice when having a time with Leal.

Because she’s super-classy, 22-year-old administrative assistant Sarah Leal — better known as the woman Ashton Kutcher allegedly boffed — spilled her guts to Us Weekly about their time together.

In the interview, she says that on September 24, Ashton and Demi Moore’s sixth wedding anniversary, she somehow wound up in the actor’s hotel room hot tub in San Diego.

“He just came up and kissed me,” the Texas native tells Us of Kutcher’s first bold move in the wee hours; minutes later, Leal, Kutcher and another young woman were completely nude and in a hot tub on the balcony.

“I didn’t think it was out of the ordinary,” Leal admits. “I wasn’t self-conscious about getting naked.”

Man, I hate it when that happens. One minute you’re minding your own business, and the next? Naked with a famous married guy and plotting to sell him out to the highest bidder. Coulda happened to anyone, really.

Leal says Kutcher told her he was “separated” from his wife and she believed him. Then, a little after 6 a.m., she says “he lost his towel and I took my robe off [and] we had sex.”

“He was good,” Leal reveals. “It wasn’t weird or perverted.” It also wasn’t 100 percent safe, either: Leal tells Us that Kutcher did not wear a condom during their one-on-one encounter.

If I were Demi, I’d be more pissed off about that revelation than anything else. It’s bad enough that you’re out getting some strange, but unprotected strange? Now we’re BOTH at risk for whatever the skanky little groupie had. Awesome. Thanks, dude. Taken from PopKrunch

Thailand Hot Location Let’s Talk About Sex

On our night out in Thailand we were struck by the number of middle-aged, white, Western men who seemed to be travelling alone. Or so we thought. One bar after another, we were seeing Aussies, Americans, Canadians, Brits and a host of other fair-skinned fellows saddled up to the bar, only to be greeted warmly by a young, scantily-clad, dark-skinned and beautiful Thai woman.

Here’s how it works. The ladies (so far, they’re still just ladies), are “employees” at the bar. If a man would like to talk to one of these employees, it’s proper and assumed that he will buy himself and her drinks from the bar where she is employed. Sometimes, this is the extent of it – flirting over drinks while watching the latest Premiership football match on the tellie. But, if the discussion and flirting leads the man into wanting to take this bar employee home, well, then he has to ask permission from her boss to leave her work station. This requires some financial compensation to the bar-owner, usually in the range of 500 baht (between $15 and $20). Now that he and his new lady-friend have smoothed things over with the bar-owner, the night is their oyster (maybe not the best analogy here…). Remunerations for sexual acts can then be worked out between the man and woman with no intermediary. Read More

No More Child left behind at 2022

2011-09-24T01:38:00.000-07:00

Lifestyle, nightlifeNo More Child left behind at 2022

States that want out of specific No Child Left Behind provisions must adapt four reforms that mirror the administration's legislative priorities, President Barack Obama will announce Friday morning."To help states, districts and schools that are ready to move forward with education reform, our administration will provide flexibility from the law in exchange for a real commitment to undertake change," Obama said in a statement released by the White House Thursday. "The purpose is not to give states and districts a reprieve from accountability, but rather to unleash energy to improve our schools at the local level."On Thursday, the White House circulated materials explaining that the administration will offer a "flexibility package."The No Child Left Behind law, passed by Congress a decade ago during the George W. Bush administration, requires regular standardized testing and the disaggregation of educational data by subgroup. It also states that just about 100 percent of students must reach proficiency in math and reading by 2014. As the deadline has approached, an increasing number of schools in each state have been labeled as "failing" under No Child Left Behind, in part because the reporting model focuses on raw scores, not improvement in scores. "Failing" schools face escalating consequences. States such as Montana and Idaho have resisted the ever-increasing performance targets, saying the law strains their capacities and leads to an overly broad portrayal of schools as underperforming. In light of those concerns, a White House fact sheet stated, the administration will allow states to request "flexibility through waivers of specific provisions" of No Child Left Behind, including the timeline for proficiency; "flexibility regarding school improvement and accountability requirements," which will allow states to set their own consequences for so-called failing schools; and "flexibility related to the use of federal education funds." Rural districts will have more freedom.A state that requests these waivers, the fact sheet said, will have to show that: It has already "adopted college- and career-ready standards in reading/language arts and mathematics" and administer "tests aligned" with these standards. The fact sheet does not detail what exactly such standards would entail, although U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has previously said states that haven't adapted the Common Core State Standards will not be barred from requesting waivers. It has set systems "of differentiated recognition, accountability and support," which includes turnaround plans targeted at the lowest 5 percent of the states' schools. It is "evaluating and supporting teacher and principal effectiveness" with a process that includes educator input. A senior administration official said on a conference call that this process must consider test scores.Beyond that, few details are available about the plan, such as the amount of funding over which states will have more discretion and the turnaround models that failing schools will have to use.No Child Left Behind has been up for renewal since 2007, and the administration released its own blueprint for the law in March 2010. But congressional gridlock has prevented formal reauthorization so far. Both Republicans and Democrats have introduced small components of a reauthorization -- with one measure involving charter schools passing last week -- but few have gained traction. In August, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said Obama had approved plans to, in effect, reform the law without going through Congress: The secretary would waive specific provisions of the law in exchange for states agreeing to adopt favored reforms.Under No Child Left Behind, the Secretary of Education may waive provisions of the law for states in need, but he has no explicit authority to ask states to adopt reforms in exchangeRead More on

‘Person Of Interest’ Series Premiere Review & Discussion Online

2011-09-24T01:17:00.000-07:00

Lifestyle, nightlife‘Person Of Interest’ Series Premiere Review & Discussion OnlineCBS’ new action-thriller has a lot of buzz going for it, with stars James Caviezel and Michael Emerson, not to mention ‘Dark Knight’ writer Jonathan Nolan. But does the premiere deliver on the good guy/Big Brother premise?Person of Interest Premiere ReviewOne of CBS’ highest-profile new projects for the 2011 premiere season is Person of Interest, a thriller with some very familiar names on both sides of the camera. Does it live up to months of lofty expectations? Read on to find out.Person of Interest starts in a surprisingly tender way, with the first of a series of flashbacks between mystery man John Reese (James Caviezel, The Passion of the Christ) and his wife. Fast-forward to modern day New York City, where the same man sits on an empty subway car, cradling a bottle of rot-gut and desperately needing a friend and a shave. When a group of uppity gangsters give him the business, Reese dispatches all four instantly, gaining the attention of the police and a shadowy figure.New, Free Google ToolbarBlock Popups & Share Favorite Sites Download Today & Find Things Fastertoolbar.google.comAds by GoogleEnter Mr. Finch, (Michael Emerson, Lost) a mysterious, eccentric billionaire who offers Reese a job and a mission. Finch has access to the U.S. government’s most powerful data collection tool, a supercomputer that can not only analyze crime but predict it.Finch steals information on low-profile victims-to-be before they become targets, on the basis that the higher-ups don’t care about anything that isn’t a 9-11 sized threat. Finch assigns Reese to observe and protect their first citizen, a young ADA (Natalie Zea, Justified) who may soon be the target of an assassination .A scruffy James Caviezel and Michal Emerson in PErson of Interest

Throughout the pilot we’re given clues to the backstory of both Reese and Finch. The former is an ex-CIA agent who became dead to the world after the death of his wife. Finch helped build the (mostly) fictional surveillance network made possible by the Patriot Act after the September 11th attacks. The tragedy gave Finch a purpose for spending his billions for the common good, and he saw an opportunity when the more typical crimes being predicted by his machine were being ignored. He’s determined to be a more benevolent version of Big Brother. Both of them are presumed dead. The action quickly ramps up as Reese tails his assignment and her would-be assignments. Reese tackles underground weapons dealers, mobsters and dirty cops -and all that’s before the twist. Along the way the audience is treated to monologues on the all-pervasive nature of modern surveillance and the morality of using it. Detectives Carter (Taraji P. Henson, I Can Do Bad All By Myself) and Fusco (Kevin Chapman, Rescue Me) have their own reasons for investigating Reese. The first thing that most viewers will notice about Person of Interest is its undeniable and certainly deliberate similarity to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Everything points to the inspiration: characters, themes, atmosphere, even the music. It comes by it honestly – producer Jonathan Nolan worked with big brother Christopher writing for Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and The Dark Night Rises. Other big names in the producer chairs are frequent partners J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.Reese in a gangster standoff on Person of InterestAll that said, the new show feels like it’s taking the best bits out of Batman and using them to tell a more realistic action story, instead of simply repackaging the essential parts of the Nolan films. The central idea of predictive crime analysis is no longer the stuff of Minority Report sci-fi, and something similar may enter the world of law enforcement very soon. Person of Interest dodges the privacy debate by putting it in the hands of invisible vigilantes (again, see The Dark Knight) who are more of a somber A-Team than an Orwellian threat.Caviezel hasn’t been seen in a regular TV role since The Prisoner two years ago. He returns on a high note, painting Reese as a broken, conflicted man with both an intense desire for justice and a hesitancy to use his lethal skills. The combination makes for a calm, calculated fighter who still comes off as sympathetic. His zen-like fighting (and wonderfully sparse dialogue) is at least as good as any B-action flick you’ve seen in the last year.Emerson provides the counterpoint as a cold, calculating mastermind. His mysterious connections allow him an enormous amount of digital power that he feels a responsibility to use for good. The audience doesn’t know too much about Finch, and his past work with the government will likely be a major plot point in the first season. Emerson is admirably restrained, but those looking for a repeat of his energetic performances on Lost may feel a little let down.Fans wanting no-holds-barred action will not be left wanting. Stunts and fight scenes in Person of Interest approach and at times surpass 24 in the realm of mostly-real action sequences, and the results are absolutely satisfying. It’ll be interesting to see if the writers and producers can keep up this level of intensity for more than a few episodes – they’ll certainly be worth a watch to find out.Reese (James Caviezel) investigates a leadThe pilot features some genuinely surprising twists (much appreciated from a jaded TV reviewer) that will keep you guessing up to the last few minutes. The creepy themes of distrust and complacency make for an excitingly different mood, which are accentuated by the regular use of CCTV angles and “bugged” audio.Person of Interest is one of the most exciting new shows on broadcast TV this year. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking thriller with solid action and storytelling, look no further – especially if you’re a fan of Nolan’s flavor of caped vigilante.Read more

Cedric Benson Top hot scandal affair

2011-09-24T01:06:00.000-07:00

Lifestyle, nightlifeCedric Benson Top hot scandal affairThe news has not been pleasant for the Cincinnati Bengals on the field or off during the last week. First, they were beaten by the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Broncos were so short-handed that they even lined up Tim Tebow as a wide receiver. To further complicate the situation at wideout, Jerome Simpson received a package -- that was being tracked by California police -- containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana at his home while offensive tackle Anthony Collins was a guest. And, now, running back Cedric Benson is reportedly facing a three-game suspension for his actions during the lockoutI've learned that Bengals RB Cedric Benson was notified of a three-game suspension for player-conduct violations (during the lockout)Benson's suspension was first reported by Mike Silver at Yahoo! but has since been confirmed by numerous other NFL reporters. ESPN's John Clayton reports that Benson is set to appeal this suspension issued by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday.Having served jail time this summer relating to misdemeanor assault cases in Texas, Benson has found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons ever since the Chicago Bears drafted him out of the University of Texas with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He will be permitted to play in the Bengals' Week 3 game and ESPN's Adam Schefter quoted sources close to the situation as being confident that Benson has a "strong case" in his appeal of the ban.If Benson does face disciplinary action for misconduct during the lockout, then it will represent an even greater expansion of Goodell's authority. As CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson points out, this would be the first case of a player being suspended or fined for behavior during the lockout. When Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt appeared to be facing possible NFL punishment for his offseason misdeeds, Silver previously explored the issue of holding players accountable to the personal conduct policy during the lockout -- when they were not technically employees. He, rightfully, considers it something that "defies logic."As NBA players like Marcus Camby have run afoul of the law during the NBA's lockout it has been mentioned in each case that they are not subject to league bylaws regarding substance abuse or conduct while the lockout is in effect. Lifestyle, nightlifeMeg Whitman Blackslist HP

Meg Whitman has officially been named the CEO of Hewlett Packard, following several days of speculation that Leo Apotheker would be forced out of the computing giant and possibly replaced by the former eBay CEO and California gubernatorial candidate. In a statement, HP also said that Ray Lane has been promoted to executive chairman of the company’s board of directors. In a statement, Lane said, “We are at a critical moment and we need renewed leadership to successfully implement our strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead. Meg is a technology visionary with a proven track record of execution. She is a strong communicator who is customer focused with deep leadership capabilities.” Whitman had been serving on HP’s board for the past eight months.Apotheker’s departure comes just 11 months after he joined the company in the wake of the Mark Hurd scandal. His tenure had been shaky from the start, with criticism intensifying recently over his plan to spin off HP’s personal computer business and discontinue the TouchPad tablet.Although HP’s statement on the matter says Aptoheker resigned his position, it seems all but certain that the decision was not his, with media reports surfacing earlier this week that HP’s board was meeting to discuss an exit. Lane also did little to hide the board’s feelings towards Apotheker. “The board believes that the job of the HP CEO now requires additional attributes to successfully execute on the company’s strategy. Meg Whitman has the right operational and communication skills and leadership abilities to deliver improved execution and financial performance,” he said.Read more about Meg Whitman

NASA Predicted NASA narrows timeframe on falling satellite

Lifestyle, nightlifeNASA Predicted NASA narrows timeframe on falling satellite

NASA said late Friday that the satellite is now expected to fall from the sky between 11:45 p.m. EDT and 12:45 a.m. EDT Saturday.Canada and Africa are in the potential crosshairs, although most of the satellite should burn up during re-entry. The United States isn't entirely out of the woods; the possible strike zone skirted Washington state.Earlier, it was reported that the satellite clung to space Friday, apparently flipping position in its ever-lower orbit and stalling its death plunge."It just doesn't want to come down," said Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.McDowell said the satellite's delayed demise demonstrates how unreliable predictions can be. That said, "the best guess is that it will still splash in the ocean, just because there's more ocean out there."Until Friday, increased solar activity was causing the atmosphere to expand and the 35-foot (10-meter), bus-size satellite to free fall more quickly. But late Friday morning, NASA said the sun was no longer the major factor in the rate of descent and that the satellite's position, shape or both had changed by the time it slipped down to a 100-mile (160-kilometer) orbit."In the last 24 hours, something has happened to the spacecraft," said NASA orbital debris scientist Mark Matney. On Friday night, NASA had earlier said it expected the satellite to come crashing down between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. EDT. It was going to be passing over the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans at that time, as well as Canada, Africa and Australia."The risk to public safety is very remote," NASA said in a statement. The Aerospace Corp., which tracks space debris, also estimated the strike would happen sometime between about 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. EDT, which would make a huge difference in where the debris falls. Its projections also put almost all of the U.S. in the clear — with Washington state the lone holdout.More than two dozen chunks of debris are likely to survive re-entry and hit the ground. CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker reports it will be a fiery end to the old satellite when it bursts back into Earth's atmosphere, which computer models suggest is most likely to happen somewhere over the South Pacific. But not even NASA scientists can say for sure.FEMA ready for just-in-case scenarios with satellite crashWayward satellite likely to fall in South PacificCBS News' Bill Harwood says that the UARS has an orbital velocity of approx. 5 miles per second. That creates uncertainty over its position when it descends - a five-minute delay can translate into a difference of 1,500 miles.CBS News: Bill Harwood's Space Place blogNASA: UARS updatesMost of the satellite will disintegrate, but 26 pieces - or 1,200 pounds - are expected to rain down somewhere.Three quarters of the Earth's surface is water, so most likely, nobody will even see it.The satellite was launched 20 years ago to study the atmosphere.Read more

DADT All Religion Night Pride Month

J.D. Smith came into being when a gay student group in upstate New York needed a speaker to talk about the U.S. military's ban on openly gay troops. In the 16 months since then, he advised the Pentagon on the policy, became an oft-quoted media commentator on the topic and was a White House guest when President Barack Obama signed the bill paving the way for the ban's appeal.

On Tuesday, when the 17-year-old "don't ask, don't tell" policy goes away, so does J.D. Smith, the name a 25-year-old Air Force officer assumed to shield his identity as he engaged in high-wire activism that could have crashed down on his career. Even if no one asks, Air Force First Lt. Joshua David Seefried is telling.

"It's all about leading now," Seefried told The Associated Press as he prepared to come out to his superiors, put a picture of his Air Force pilot boyfriend on his office desk and update his personal Facebook profile to reflect his sexual orientation. "Those are things I feel like I should do because I guess that is what a leader would do. If we all stay in the closet and don't act brave, then the next generation won't have any progress."

At Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, Seefried works in finance, oversees a staff of 20 and is attached to the 87th Air Base Wing. Twice this year, he was set to deploy to the Middle East, and felt conflicted when his orders were canceled only because going overseas would have put J.D. Smith out of commission. A handful of friends at work know he is gay. Only one knows about OutServe, the underground network for gay military personnel he co-founded last year.

Although he expects only a fraction of the 65,000 gay men and lesbians estimated to be serving in the armed forces to reveal themselves at first, Seefried will not be alone. On Tuesday, his organization's magazine will publish an issue featuring photographs and biographies of him and 100 other gay service members. It will be available online and at Army and Air Force commissaries.

OutServe, which has grown to 4,300 members in more than 40 chapters from Alaska to Iraq, has had an exceptionally aggressive rise since February 2010 launch. From the start, Seefried and a tech-savvy civilian friend, Ty Walrod, saw its mission as two-fold: to ease the isolation of gay service members and to educate the public about the price of requiring them to serve in silence. The repeal of the 1993 law that banned gay military personnel from serving openly went into effect Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. after years of fierce debate in both Congress and the armed services.

President Obama had signed the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in December.

"As of today, patriotic Americans in uniform will no longer have to lie about who they are in order to serve the country they love. As of today, our armed forces will no longer lose the extraordinary skills and combat experience of so many gay and lesbian service members," Obama said in a statement.

Since the policy went into effect under then-President Bill Clinton, more than 13,000 homosexuals have been booted from the armed services for revealing they are gay.

Service members kicked out under DADT will be allowed to re-enlist.

Some in Congress still oppose the change, but top Pentagon leaders have insisted it would not undermine the military's ability to recruit or fight wars.

The Army released a short statement Tuesday saying, "The law is repealed," and to treat soldiers fairly.

"No one should be left with the impression that we are unprepared. We are prepared for repeal," said Pentagon press secretary George Little on Monday. Last week the Pentagon said 97% of the military has been trained in the new law.

The military has been accepting applications from openly gay members for weeks while waiting for the repeal to take place.

Conservative groups, including the Family Research Council, urged the Pentagon to postpone the decision.

"The American military exists for only one purpose - to fight and win wars," FRC president Tony Perkins said in a statement Monday.

"Yet, tomorrow, the U.S. military becomes a tool in reshaping social attitudes regarding human sexuality. Using the military to advance a liberal social agenda will only do harm to the military's ability to fulfill its mission," Perkins said.

Several Republican presidential candidates have previously said they would reinstate DADT.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said he would keep the policy in place "until conflict was over," during a Republican primary debate in June. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said she would keep DADT and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum agreed, adding the military is "not for social experimentation."

Meanwhile, gay rights groups planned celebrations across the country.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi applauded the decision: "Our nation will finally close the door on a fundamental unfairness for gays and lesbians," the California Democrat said, adding it will "indeed affirm equality for all Americans."

Brad Pitt Versus Jenifer Aniston

So many celebrities try to stay politically correct, try not to ruffle feathers, and toe the company line; thankfully, Brad Pitt isn't one of them. The king of the A-list opens up about his pursuit of happiness -- razzing ex Jennifer Aniston -- in the process in this weekend's edition of Parade magazine.“I spent the '90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony," Pitt tells Parade. "I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic.PHOTOS: Brad and Angie Take The Kids To See The Smurfs"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself," Pitt said of the decade, in which he drew moviegoers to theaters with films such as Se7en, Seven Years in Tibet, Meet Joe Black and Fight Club.Jennifer Aniston was in the UK promoting her movie Marley & Me and did an interview with Hello! magazine, and what was of interest in the interview was nothing about the movie but rather some info on Brad Pitt. You were with Brad Pitt for seven years - and married for five. It must have been very intense, in the public eye?“It was. But I don’t regret any of that time with Brad and I’m not here to beat myself up about it. They were seven very intense years together, and it was a beautiful and complicated relationship. I will love Brad for the rest of my life - you can’t take away good memories. I really do hope that we’ll be good friends again at some point. You can survive anything - human endurance is unbelievable. But yes, it’s sad coming to the end of something special. You try to avoid all the pain but that somehow causes even more. I’m a human being, have human experiences.”That's right; Jennifer Aniston admitted that she will always love Brad Pitt. I don't feel that way about any of my exes and, I don't know about you, but even if I did, I'm not a celebrity and the things I say aren't right there. In print. For the world to see. And for my current boyfriend to have an aneurysm over.Perhaps Jennifer Aniston should make a point to stop talking about Brad Pitt altogether and, when asked questions about him, she should say, "Next question."

And then Brad dropped the bomb...

Korean Pop Conquered Japan Music Niigata 2011

Image also plays a critical role in separating the two countries' pop music. A crass way of summing it up is this: K-Pop stars out-sex their J-Popcounterparts. The members of Girls' Generation show a fair amount of skin in their music videos, while many fans were drawn to KARA by a chunk of choreography Wikipedia dubs "the butt dance." Beyond straight-up sex appeal, K-Pop groups look and act like real adults, whereas J-Pop outfits often emphasize adolescent cuteness. K-Pop unit T-ara's 2009 video for the song "Bo Peep Bo Peep" centered around a member of the girl group going to a club and hooking up with a guy in the bathroom, an elevator, and his apartment. The Japanese clip, in advance of T-ara's official Japanese debut later this month, finds the members wearing cat ears and playing un-erotically with one another: the sexuality of the original replaced with Hello-Kitty-approved cuteness. The most popular Japanese act of the moment, AKB48, is a collection of 48 singers usually wearing high-school uniforms while behaving like 15-year-old girls. It's been a tried-and-true path to pop success; Japanese singers have been donning their staple sailor suits since the '70s-a fashion shtick that's far from progressive. Girls' Generation and KARA aren't glimmering examples of feminism, but at least they look and act like grown women.
As is often the case with any new trend, the Internet also gave K-Pop a kick start on its way to routing J-Pop. Before Girls' Generation and KARA officially debuted in Japan, curious fans of other Korean cultural exports discovered these groups via YouTube. This e-exposure helped build a bigger fan base, one guaranteed to buoy these girl groups once their music reached Japanese shores. Most Japanese music companies, meanwhile, vigilantly remove unofficial clips from video sites. In one recent incident, Lady Gaga's official YouTube account was briefly suspended after she posted an unauthorized clip of her appearance on J-Pop boy band SMAP's variety show. Instead of embracing exposure from one of the West's most popular entertainers, J-Pop powers that be opted to shut her down.
J-Pop juggernauts won't be vanishing from the charts anytime soon, but Korean pop has found a way to win big on Japan's home turf and rile up the xenophobic fringes. The only question remaining isn't whether Korean cultural powerhouses will stick around, but, rather, will J-Pop artists reinvent themselves or stay stuck in their schoolgirl-style sonic time warp?

Yet another poll, this one from consumer market researcher Market Force, confirms what we all already suspected: everyone loves Five Guys. The burger chain, which has grown rapidly since its founding in 1986, was rated America's favorite fast food chain, after adjusting for the number of stores. By this measure, In-N-Out came in second and Chick fil-A came in third. The poll asked 4500 Americans to pick their favorite chain from among the 55 highest-grossing quick-service eateries in the country. The raw data indicated that America's favorite chain was Chick fil-A, which garnered 10.4% of the total vote; Panera came in second. But Market Force then adjusted the vote to account for disparities in the total number of outposts for each brand. The relative scarcity of In-N-Out and Five Guys propelled them to the top of the list, while Panera fell to fourthRead more about Chick-Fil-A Are America's Favorite Fast Food and good choice menu

Oscar De La Hoya is opening up about why he checked himself into rehab -- claiming he was abusing cocaine and alcohol, cheating on his wife ... and even considering suicide.

De La Hoya says he's been sober for three months -- but he's still undergoing treatment. He also says he's joined Alcoholics Anonymous.

Chick Fil a good choice menu In All Religion Pride Month

Did you sign up to get your free breakfast entree at Chick-fil-A yet?

Who knew that fried chicken fillets and waffle fries could cause such a stir? Recently, these have been the latest entities to be slapped with an “anti-gay” label by some after the national fast-food chain Chick-fil-a came under scrutiny for their conservative Christian views in the corporate world.

Courtesy ktcan.wordpress.com

Chick-fil-a has never been “hush-hush” about their Christian beginnings and ideals when it comes to the organization. One can easily search the internet and discover that on the website of Truett Cathy (the company’s founder) Chick-fil-a’s Corporate Purpose is defined as “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.” Information is also readily available on Chick-fil-a’s website about the WinShape Foundation, a faith/ministry based charity started by the company’s founders and supported by Chick-fil-a funds. Perhaps the most obvious display of the chain’s Christian leanings is the fact that it is company policy to remain closed on Sundays, a practice that the website says is “as much practical as spiritual.”

The Christian underpinnings of Chick-fil-a have always popped up occasionally in the media over the last few decades, however this most recent debate over the fast-food chain is shaping up to be quite a controversy. The chain made headlines in January when a Chick-fil-a restaurant in Pennsylvania donated food to a meeting of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, group that is outspoken about their opposition to gay marriage. Originally, it was reported that Chick-fil-a was sponsoring this meeting, but after LGBT blogs around the country started spreading the word about this, the story quickly changed to a simple donation of food that was the decision of the local franchise owner and not endorsed by the corporation overall.

Despite that being said, it seems that this little snafu has really set tongues wagging across the nation about Chick-fil-a and its religious corporate ethos. The issue at the heart of the debate all points back to a much broader discourse that is taking place in American society; liberalism versus Christian fundamentalism. While this latest “Is Chick-fil-a ‘anti-gay’?” discussion has only been going on for a few weeks now, the head butting between liberals and fundamentalists has been happening for decades upon decades. The argument between the two group spills forth into everyday life and manifests itself often in both local and national level issues such as this one. Anytime these two groups find themselves at odds, the rhetoric of both sides becomes very impassioned, and this time it is no different.

Verizon Wireless shining in mobile business lampoenk

Telecom giants AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless are investing over $100 million in a joint venture aimed at allowing consumers to make purchases using their mobile phones, according to new reports.

A few industry experts believe the move taken by the trio is a desperate attempt by telecom giants to counter other similar services from rivals such as the Mountain View-based search giant Google Inc.

Dubbed 'Isis', the companies have yet to officially reveal any accurate figures regarding the overall funding.

So more or less, program funding still depends pretty much on the response it receives from merchants and banks, according to a Boston.com report.

Apparently, the Boston.com report cites an unnamed source with direct knowledge of on-going affairs concerning the new venture.

“It’s a given that people are going to be transacting more over cellphones. An independent wireless analysis stated that it could open a potential new revenue stream for them,” the Boston.com report claims.

Meanwhile, in related news, according to a recent study by Juniper Research, the worldwide mobile payment industry will generate $240 billion this year alone.

Evelyn Lozada private gallery photo exposed

Vanessa Davis, the “Stalker” that Evelyn Lozada was speaking of (the one who hacked her email and stole her sexy nudie pics) is now being sued….And it turns out she has ties to the NBA too, as Ricky Davis’ ex-wife. Details on the flip
One of the stars of the VH1 show “Basketball Wives” claims she’s the victim of a nude-photo-stealing revenge plot — and she suspects the perp is a woman who’s bitter she wasn’t picked for the show. TMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed by Evelyn Lozada (ex-fiancée of former NBA star Antoine Walker) in which she claims Vanessa Davis (former wife of NBA star Ricky Davis) smeared her reputation all over the Internet after Davis was “not selected” to be on the reality show.

According to Lozada, Davis took to a gossip blog and called her a “high end prostitute,” a “drunkard,” and a “hoe ass” — and even accused Lozada of neglecting her daughter.

But the nastiest part — Lozada claims Davis hacked into her email and stole topless photos … which Davis allegedly published online.

Lozada claims Davis is out to “ruin her reputation” — and now she wants Davis to fork over at least $15,000 in damages for all the trouble Davis has allegedly caused. Attempts to reach Davis have been unsuccessful. read more

Entrepreneur Evelyn Lozada, who has emerged as the face of VH1′s hit reality TV show Basketball Wives, was once a video vixen sashaying her hips in music videos such as Jay Z’s “I Just Wanna Love You (Give it 2 Me)”.

This according to my sharp-eyed reader, Justtina K., who spotted the young Evelyn Lozada wearing a powder blue dress and bikini throughout this video.

f you notice, Evelyn manages to keep her face out of most of the video frames. No doubt because she knew she had a daughter at home who would one day be old enough to view the video (Shaniece would have been 7 when this video was made back in 2000)
