My home girl, Jill Scott was on my mind this morning...I woke up hearing her song 'So Blessed" and I have to admit...I feel blessed...Just to be able to wake up ..And so should you all...So I hope you enjoy this cut from her current CD and Digital Download....(Did you catch that? I said Digital Download...I'm hip!) The Light of the Sun!
If it seems as though I have been missing from action a lot this week...is because I have been watching the NBA Playoffs....I've been getting my nightly fix of my Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics , and Kobe and Kevin Durant, Lebron James ,D-Wade and their battle with the Indiana Pacers and Blake Griffen, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the rest...

Haven't been blogging much...but I did happen to see this skit on Saturday Night Live lampooning one of my favorite sportscasters, Steven A. Smith and thought that I just had to share this with you today...Watch and enjoy!

Everybody have a great weekend!...

1.Women want to cuddle after sex because ,they are more than likely nude and they are freezing.

2. When considering whether or not to ask out the girl you're afraid to talk to, keep this in mind: No matter who you are or what you look like, it's always flattering to them ,when you flirt or hit on them...always...( I got this from a woman!)

3. When Your signigficant other or spouse asks you to pick an outfit for them...Humor them and pick one...Just don't expect her to go with the one you picked!

4.If you're really funny....a woman just might sleep with you! (Then again..she might not!)

5.Eye contact should last exactly 0.28 seconds. The quickest glance is the most effective.

I was going to give blogging a rest for a few days...or at least two of my three blogs anyway..but of course...I could not...Someone had to say something dumb that got my attention.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been rumored to be in contention for vice-president, on Saturday slammed President Barack Obama for being, now get this the most divisive figure in American politics. Can you believe this? Can you believe that a republican has the audacity to say this? Who has divided our country more than they have? Whether it is along class lines, racial lines and now, gender lines.

"The man who today occupies the White House and is running for president is a very different person," Rubio said at a high-profile GOP fundraiser, where he claimed Obama has abandoned the ideals he ran on in 2008. "We have not seen such a divisive figure in modern American history than we have over the last three and one-half years."

Senator Rubio delivered this dig in front of nearly 1,000 South Carolina Republicans at the Silver Elephant Dinner, one of the state's biggest gatherings of GOPers and whose keynote speaker in 2011 was former presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

The junior senator from the Sunshine State drew praise from the state's most influential conservatives who took the stage before him, including Sens. Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint and Gov. Nikki Haley.

Choosing to speak in the early primary state also gave rise to speculation about Senator Rubio's future political ambitions. As a young and popular Hispanic senator from a swing state, he has found himself in the midst of vice presidential speculation as I mentioned above.

But this event, along with his address earlier this month to a group of influential Iowa businesspeople, has fueled questions about the possibility of a Rubio presidential run.heaven forbid.

"I didn't know much about Marco other than all the hype that doesn't do you justice,” Senator Lindsey Graham said. “I've got a chance to travel with Marco, he's the future of the Republican party like [Rep.] Tim [Scott].

While Marco Rubio did not so much as mention Mitt Romney's name, he did prove he could play attack dog, spending the top of his speech critiquing the president for failing to live up to his campaign promises.

How bout we criticize them for not having any promises to live up to? Hmmmmmm!

Rubio went on to say -"The president and his party’s view of America’s government and our lives is a failed one, It hasn’t worked. His ideas that sounded so good in the classrooms of Harvard and Yale haven’t really worked out well in the real world."

You guys (Republicans, Tea Party, less anyone here is confused!) wouldn't know what the "real world" looked like if it fell on you.

Senator Rubio has denied any speculation about possible vice presidential ambitions, (for now!)but his popularity outside his home state was on display Saturday night. The freshman senator drew applause equal only to that of DeMint, the tea party favorite and South Carolina native.

"In the end, as frustrated as sometimes we may get with the leadership of our own party on one issue or another, the logical home of the limited government, constitutional republican principles of our nation is the Republican party," Rubio said.
(He could have added, limited ideas and ideals too!)

"The logical home for the defense of the free enterprise system is the Republican party. It is the only organization in modern American politics that is still capable at this moment of driving forward these concepts and these principles that are so important for our future." he said.

Heard enough? I know I have....The election is about 160 days away..Make sure you're registered to vote...Send these guys a clear message in November...Please!
A Man and his Wife are having a fight at the breakfast table. The Husband gets up
in a rage and says, "And furthermore you are no good in bed either," and storms out of the
house.

After sometime he realizes he was nasty and decides to make amends and
calls home.

She comes to the phone after many rings and the irritated
husband says, "What took you so long to answer the phone?"

She says, "I
was in bed."

"In bed this early, doing what?" Shouts the husband.

Donna Summer

                                                                     (1948-2012)

I am still reeling from the deaths of Whitney Houston, Don Corneilius, Dick Clark, Davy Jones of the Monkees and yesterday , Go-Go Music King, Chuck Brown...and now today, Donna Summer, the queen of Disco has also passed on after a battle with cancer.

Incredible! Born LaDonna Gaines, from Boston, she went to Germany with a company of "Hair" in the early '70s, married a German actor named Sommer, and connected with a German bubblegum artist and producer named Giorgio Moroder, and his partner Pete Bellotte, around 1973. One of their first collaborations, a single called "The Hostage," was a disturbing piece of work capitalizing on the European kidnapping-as-political-statement trend that culminated in the killings at the Munich Olympics.

That record couldn't have been farther away from her U.S. debut. "Love to Love you baby" it was a demo that, according to Casablanca executive Larry Harris, was accidentally jarred while playing at a party, so that in effect it played for twice its actual length. Intrigued, Casablanca president Neil Bogart commissioned Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer to make an extended version, which Bogart further extended to 17 minutes. Little more than a long simulated orgasm over a hypnotic track, it became a club sensation, then a radio sensation, in late 1975. I don't know a 17 year old boy that didn't secretly listen to this song in his bedroom late at night after everyone was fast asleep! Really, I don't.

You could argue that this first mega-successful extended 12-inch was the ancestor of all trance music to follow, but realistically, if her career had ended then, it would have made a feeble legacy. But over the next few years, Giorgio Moroder (who originally thought he could find a stronger singer than Summer for "Love to Love You") found an ideal creative partner in Summer.

That burst of creativity first bloomed on Donna Summer's third album, 1976's "Four Seasons of Love," which was nothing less than a disco concept album, just like the heavy thematic albums that progressive rock titans were making during that decade. "Seasons" was vastly more listenable, four entrancing tracks that combined the disco pulse with genuine melody. Follow-up "I Remember Yesterday" nodded to the past (notably on "Love's Unkind," as masterful a Phil Spector/Crystals pastiche as you could hope to find) but on its key track single-handedly propelled music into the future.

Even after all this time.. "I Feel Love" still sounds like a recording beamed in from another galaxy. Moroder's army of chattering synthesizers creates a desensitized zone in which Summer is trapped, and her icy insistence that she can "feel love" establishes a deadly irony. More than any other record, this one proved you didn't need guitars and "real" instruments to create great records. The synth-pop of the '80s and '90s as well as the last quarter-century of dance music (and pop, for that matter) would be inconceivable without it.
But Summer and Moroder had even more to offer. Certainly there was schlock galore on her singles -- the everlasting prom standard and compulsory aspiring-diva karaoke cover "Last Dance," a superfluous disco-fication of "MacArthur Park" -- but 1977 double album "Once Upon a Time" (her fifth album in two years) was a dazzling disco fairy tale full of sumptuous melodies and gloriously mesmerizing arrangements. And for an encore, she helped marry disco and rock.

"Hot Stuff" wasn't the first rock-disco fusion by any means. (Check longtime French star Sheila's "You Light My Fire" for a pioneering effort.) But as the first superstar record to incorporate these seemingly incompatible elements, it sealed the deal, building a bridge between two musical factions that seemed unalterably opposed. Rock fans were publicly destroying disco records and radio stations sponsored "no-Bee Gees" weekends" in a climate of fear that disco would render rock irrelevant, and along came a record celebrating that sybaritic disco lifestyle that so alarmed upstanding Americans with good old heartland power chords. Labelmates Kiss immediately followed suit from the rock side with the disco fusion "I Was Made for Lovin' You," and while the two sides didn't exactly air-kiss and hold hands, the established musical boundaries were breached once and for all.

Having twice reshaped the course of popular music (three times if you count "Love to Love You Baby"), Summer settled down to a more mundane form of stardom. She still managed to break ground: "Bad Girls" was a notable tribute to a profession as old as that of musicians, "The Wanderer" was an edgy attempt to escape the disco pigeonhole she was mired in, and her penultimate hit, and my favorite Donna Summer record of all time, 1983's "She Works Hard For The Money" has endured as a notable tribute to an even older occupation than the one saluted in "Bad Girls": underpaid women's scut work.
But the quality control, erratic in the best of times, deteriorated, and we got by-the-numbers disco-pop exercises such as "Dim All the Lights" and "On the Radio" and extravagant, soulless stunts on the order of her duet with Barbra Streisand. "Enough Is Enough," indeed. The public was only occasionally enamored by her post-Moroder records on Geffen, where she thrashed through a variety of derivative styles, and after "Hard for the Money," hardly an innovative record, there was only one more hit, 1989's "This Time I Know It's for Real," masterminded by British schlock-meister team Stock/Aitken/Waterman (of Rick Astley fame). She became more serious about her Christian faith, interspersing non musical activities with sporadic comebacks on the diva-nostalgia circuit.

And that's how she's been perceived, as the main survivor of a much-derided musical era. She deserves better. Her best records from the '70s are every bit as important, and impressive, as the rock classics from Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and their compatriots and (listen to "I Feel Love" again) quite conceivably more influential.

Another one gone too soon, way too soon....We'll miss you Donna!

I didn't write this...but it being a slow news day, I thought I'd share this...One of my Facebook friends posted this and I found it interesting...They didn't write it either.

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make
your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many
things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and
instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be
stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today
we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we
will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give Up The need to always be right.

There
are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to
always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or
causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s
just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a
fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?

2. Give up your need for control

Be
willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens
to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they
are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street –
just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they
are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.

“By
letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go.
But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

3. Give up on blame

Give
up on your need to blame others for what you have or don’t have, for
what you feel or don’t feel. Stop giving your powers away and start
taking responsibility for your life.

4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk

Oh
my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative,
polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don’t believe everything
that your mind is telling you – especially if it’s negative and
self-defeating. You are better than that.
“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

5. Give up your limiting beliefs

about
what you can or cannot do, about what is possible or impossible. From
now on, you are no longer going to allow your limiting beliefs to keep
you stuck in the wrong place. Spread your wings and fly!
“A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind” Elly Roselle

6. Give up complaining

Give
up your constant need to complain about those many, many, maaany things
– people, situations, events that make you unhappy, sad and depressed.
Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable
unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those
feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate
the power of positive thinking.

7. Give up the luxury of criticism

Give
up your need to criticize things, events or people that are different
than you. We are all different, yet we are all the same. We all want to
be happy, we all want to love and be loved and we all want to be
understood. We all want something, and something is wished by us all.

8. Give up your need to impress others

Stop
trying so hard to be something that you’re not just to make others like
you. It doesn’t work this way. The moment you stop trying so hard to be
something that you’re not, the moment you take off all your masks, the
moment you accept and embrace the real you, you will find people will be
drawn to you, effortlessly.

9. Give up your resistance to change

Change
is good. Change will help you move from A to B. Change will help you
make improvements in your life and also the lives of those around you.
Follow your bliss, embrace change – don’t resist it.
“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls” Joseph Campbell

10. Give up labels

Stop
labeling those things, people or events that you don’t understand as
being weird or different and try opening your mind, little by little.
Minds only work when open. “The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” Wayne Dyer

11. Give up on your fears

Fear
is just an illusion, it doesn’t exist – you created it. It’s all in your
mind. Correct the inside and the outside will fall into place.
“The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

12. Give up your excuses

Send
them packing and tell them they’re fired. You no longer need them. A lot
of times we limit ourselves because of the many excuses we use. Instead
of growing and working on improving ourselves and our lives, we get
stuck, lying to ourselves, using all kind of excuses – excuses that
99.9% of the time are not even real.

13. Give up the past

I
know, I know. It’s hard. Especially when the past looks so much better
than the present and the future looks so frightening, but you have to
take into consideration the fact that the present moment is all you have
and all you will ever have. The past you are now longing for – the past
that you are now dreaming about – was ignored by you when it was
present. Stop deluding yourself. Be present in everything you do and
enjoy life. After all life is a journey not a destination. Have a clear
vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present in the
now.

14. Give up attachment

This
is a concept that, for most of us is so hard to grasp and I have to tell
you that it was for me too, (it still is) but it’s not something
impossible. You get better and better at with time and practice. The
moment you detach yourself from all things, (and that doesn’t mean you
give up your love for them – because love and attachment have nothing to
do with one another, attachment comes from a place of fear, while
love… well, real love is pure, kind, and self less, where there is love
there can’t be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot
coexist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene.
You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things
without even trying. A state beyond words.

15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations

Way
too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live
their lives according to what others think is best for them, they live
their lives according to what their parents think is best for them, to
what their friends, their enemies and their teachers, their government
and the media think is best for them. They ignore their inner voice,
that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with
living up to other people’s expectations, that they lose control over
their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what
they need….and eventually they forget about themselves. You have one
life – this one right now – you must live it, own it, and especially
don’t let other people’s opinions distract you from your path.

Good thoughts to live by.

Well, I thought it would never happen...but today...It did!!!!

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said a little while ago he was scaling
back his White House bid and will no longer campaign actively in states
that have yet to hold primary elections.Thank God!
He has suspended his campaign like they all say.

Instead, Paul's campaign will concentrate on trying to add to its tally
of delegates to the Republican National Convention in August by sending
large groups of supporters to state conventions to elect themselves to
delegate slots.

"Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We
will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a
strong message to the Republican National Convention that liberty is the
way of the future," Paul said in a statement.

"Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning
in primaries in states that have not yet voted," he added. "Doing so
with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we
simply do not have," Paul said.

Something tells me this guy kinda sorta still thinks he's campaigning!

He is the last main challenger to presumptive nominee Mitt Romney in the Republican race to confront President Barack Obama.

Ron Paul has yet to win any of the state nominating contests. So far, He has
only 99 delegates while Romney has 949, according to Real Clear
Politics. A candidate needs 1,144 to win the nomination.

Ron Paul urged his supporters to vote in upcoming elections, even though he
would not actively campaign in the states that still must hold a
nominating contest ahead of the party's convention before the November 6
presidential election.

The 76-year-old Texas congressman's message of sharply reducing the role
of government, scrapping the Federal Reserve and ending the U.S.
military presence overseas is unique to him. Many of his supporters have
said they would not vote at all on Election Day if Paul were not the
nominee.Good...That means less crazy people at the polls..While you're at it, you can all go jump off a cliff too!

Ron Paul's statement said his campaign would explain details of its delegate strategy "in the coming days."
He's still crazy and delusional.

These are actually laws in my home state of Pennsylvania...I kid you not!

No more than two packages of beer at a time may be purchased, unless you are
buying from an official "beer distributor" (Really? Ok!)

You may not catch a fish by any body part except the mouth. (I'll try and remember that...provided I ever go fishing.)

Motorized vehicles are not to be sold on Sundays. (Must be the reason why I bought my car on a Saturday!)

You may not catch a fish with your hands. (Can you?)

It is illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors. (If I ever see anyone doing that..I'll be sure to tell em!)

You may not sing in the bathtub. (HA! Try enforcing that!)

Fireworks stores may not sell fireworks to Pennsylvania residents.(You have to live in Deleware!)

Dynamite is not to be used to catch fish. (Huh?)

It is illegal to have over 16 women live in a house together because that
constitutes a brothel. However up to 120 men can live together, without breaking
the law. (Hmmmm...I think if I had ever had 16 women in anyplace I'd ever lived...I would have never told anyone.)

Though you do not need a fishing license to fish on your own land, but a
hunting license is required to hunt on your own land. (Huh????)

Any motorist driving along a country road at night must stop every mile and
send up a rocket signal, wait 10 minutes for the road to be cleared of
livestock, and continue. (You have got to be kidding!)

A person is not eligible to become Governor if he/she has participated in a
duel. (Well, that's good to know.)

Any motorist who sights a team of horses coming toward him must pull well
off the road, cover his car with a blanket or canvas that blends with the
countryside, and let the horses pass. If the horses appear skittish, the
motorist must take his car apart, piece by piece, and hide it under the nearest
bushes. (Will never happen!)

Ministers are forbidden from performing marriages when either the bride or
groom is drunk. (Well......That's good to know.)

All liquor stores must be run by the state. (That's coming to an end soon.)

A special cleaning ordinance bans housewives from hiding dirt and dust under
a rug in a dwelling. (Try enforcing that!)

It is contrary to Pennsylvania law to discharge a gun, cannon, revolver or
other explosive weapon at a wedding. (I feel so much safer now!)

I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the big news item of the day...That , (taking his cue from Vice President Joe Biden), President Barack Obama came out on the side of Same Sex Marriages...Even as that progressive state of North Carolina voted to ban same -sex marriages and all domestic partnerships...straight or gay!

Seriously...Gay marriage is not the hot button issue it was maybe ten years ago..most Americans are changing their viewpoints on it anyway...So while the bible and gun toting holier than thou crowd that has become the Republican/Tea Party will try to use this to bash him over the head...The truth is...I don't think this will hurt him much amongst perspective voters.

President Barack Obama endorsed the right of same-sex couples to marry , a landmark pronouncement made in light of mounting pressure from gay rights advocates. President Obama became the first U.S. president to back the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry, a reversal from views expressed during the 2008 campaign, when he said he opposed same-sex marriage but favored civil unions as an alternative.
Then he was taking the safe route..

President Obama told reporters in the White House that, after reflection, he had "concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.

In making his announcement, The President completes what he had described as an “evolution” in his views on this issue, hastened by growing fervor this week involving gay rights. The growing pressure was capped Tuesday by North Carolina voters’ approval of a constitutional amendment banning not only same-sex marriages, but civil unions for gay and lesbian couples, as well.

President Obama’s shift not only speaks to a broad swath of the electorate, which has exhibited increasing acceptance of same-sex marriage in opinion polls, but also gay and lesbian voters who compose a core part of his base, and have been major fundraisers for his re-election.

The President explained that he had hesitated in fully supporting same-sex marriage because he thought civil unions would be sufficient.

"I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," he told ABC News. I can imagine that the talking heads on Fox News are in a frenzy right now.

The president had found himself under increasing pressure this week to state his position unequivocally after Vice President Joe Biden voiced support for same-sex marriage.
"I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties," Biden said on NBC’s "Meet the Press." "And quite frankly, I don't see much of a distinction beyond that."

While history will be the judge of whether they both are doing the right thing....Current events may prove that this could be politically disasterous ...or not.. Like I said...It's not the hot button issue it was ten years ago or even four years ago...but you can bet your bottom dollar that the Right Wing will make sure that it becomes one.

Speaking of which...The President's most likely opponent this fall, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney re-iterated his opposition to both same-sex marriage and civil unions on Tuesday.

"I have the same view on marriage that I had when I was governor and that I've expressed many times," he said following the president's announcement. "I believe marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman."

Earlier, he told KDVR-TV in Denver: "I do not favor marriage between people of the same gender, and I do not favor civil unions if they are identical to marriage other than by name ... My view is the domestic partnership benefits, hospital visitation rights, and the like are appropriate but that the others are not."

Hmmm, Like I said.. History will decide one day who was on the right side of this issue....As for me? I feel as though, this was an idea that was coming down the pike anyway...Just like inter-racial marriage back in the 60's.

You know...One night...I had a Pizza in my study...It had extra cheese, green peppers, sausage and pepperonis on it...The aroma emboldened the roaches , who usually are quite stealth and keep themselves hidden...At least until everybody is asleep.. This night..I killed about a record 11 cock-roaches...They were emboldened by the aroma of that pizza..They were willing to risk sudden death to get close to that smell...

I use this analogy because it seems that since Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States, the racists that up until 2008 kind of lurked behind the scenes and bowed to political correctness have become..just like those roaches....Emboldened....It seems like every other day..a new one comes out or writes something hateful....on a Blog, Twitter, Facebook, a website...what have you or even on Television or the Radio.

They seem to have no fear of losing their job or their lives if a Black or Latino person is within earshot of their ignorance. Such is the case of a Blogger who wrote an op ed piece last week that created a storm of controversy...Another storm of endless controversy in a very mean season.

After Naomi Schaefer Riley(pictured above) wrote a blog post for the Chronicle of
Higher Education calling black studies "claptrap," based on the titles
of a handful of dissertations, nearly 6,500 people signed a petition
calling for her dismissal from the blog. Yesterday, Liz McMillen, the
site's editor, wrote a note apologizing for Ms.Riley's post, and said that
the publication had decided to part ways with the author, who is also an
affiliate scholar of the Institute of American Values, a conservative
think tank based in New York.
Why am I not surprised that she's an affiliate of a conservative "think" tank. Is that what they really do there?

Kirsten West Savali of NEWSONE had this to say-

"Every now and again, there is a manifestation of white privilege so
brilliant in its ignorance, so delusional, that it actually makes me
want to go back to my days of being a mental health professional and
offer my services."

"This happens to be the case with “The Chronicle” writer Naomi Schaefer Riley.
In a piece reeking with condescension and low-rent bigotry, Schaefer
makes the argument that Black Studies is a superficial academic pursuit
that hinges on “left-wing victimization claptrap” as demonstrated in
dissertations by up-and-coming Black scholars in
the field. Peering through her indignation at topics such as “Race for
Profit: Black Housing and the Urban Crisis of the 1970s,” she pronounced
the fruits of long nights of rigorous research “so irrelevant no one
will ever look at them.”

"Ms. Riley seems to believe that Black Republicans, such as Clarence
Thomas – who have made a living being step-n-fetchit tokens — are being
unfairly maligned by liberals who would rather cry racism than actually
solve problems in Black America:

“Seriously, folks, there are legitimate debates about the problems
that plague the black community from high incarceration rates to low
graduation rates to high out-of-wedlock birth rates. But it’s clear that
they’re not happening in black-studies departments. If these young
scholars are the future of the discipline, I think they can just as well
leave their calendars at 1963 and let some legitimate scholars find
solutions to the problems of blacks in America. Solutions that don’t begin and end with blame the white man.”

She also has the audacity to say that President Barack Obama should
be proof positive that “a change gone come,” (Sam Cooke’s words, not
Riley’s) as if we should gaze upon him with pride on our Civil Rights
mantles while employment, housing and education opportunities burn to
the ground.
But at least a brother is in the White house, right?

Cue up Parliament- Chocolate City right about now folks!

Karen West Savali went on to say-

"It is not surprising that Ms. Riley is so oblivious to “the white
man’s” role in the prison industrial complex. Apparently she doesn’t
realize that disparities in sentencing, especially as it pertains to
cocaine vs. crack – which flooded our communities in the ‘80s under the Reagan administration – has played an integral role in the devastation that has plowed through Black America."

"Perhaps Ms. Riley also doesn’t realize that sex education under the
Republican agenda is reduced to one long advertisement for abstinence,
while simultaneously working diligently to eradicate Planned Parenthoods in
urban communities. This ensures that Black women in a certain
socio-economic bracket who do dare to have sex, not only are vilified
for it but forced to have these children “out-of-wedlock” or risk their
wombs being labeled “dangerous” if they dare to choose termination."

Furthermore, it would be ridiculous for Ms. Riley to assert that Black
people are wrong to look to “the white man” for issues with public
education when it has been reported that Black students receive sub-par educations in comparison to their White counterparts."

Bottom line, unless Ms. Riley has completely lost her grasp
on reality(ie(Her cotton pickin mind!) – if she ever had one – the “white man” is as responsible for
the precarious position of Black America as Black America is
responsible for stabilizing it.

When I read claptrap like what Ms. Riley ascertains...I just shake my head...She probably hasn't read many disertations by Black studies majors, probably doesn't know or have any Black friends either...If she does , it's probably the type that are just as delusional as she is (ie-"Uncle Toms) She hasn't lived where I live ,hasn't seen what I see....

The sad thing is...People like her...don't want to!

And so , after a summer ,fall and winter of the wackiest primary in modern American political history...The real campaign begins...We've laughed at Herman "Big Daddy" Cain, been flabergasted by 'Mad Michelle" Bachman, Just laughed out loud at the campaigns of Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul (Is he still running?) and their twilight zone campaigns....Now it's time to focus on Preisdent Obama's campaign for re-election...The real campaign ..if you will.

After back-to-back speeches in two key swing states, the Obama re-election campaign indicated how it wants to define the general election: As a choice between a tool of congressional Republicans who wants to undo the president’s first-term agenda and as an incumbent looking to spend the next four years building on his achievements.

The president seemed to tie his presumptive Republican challenger Mitt Romney to Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan, which Democrats have been using to represent congressional Republicans’ entire agenda. President Obama warned that in Mitt Romney, the House GOP has a candidate who would be willing to gut Medicare and end regulations on insurance companies and banks – policies “that created this mess,” the president said.

After a long and spirited primary, Republicans in Congress have found a nominee for president who has promised to rubber-stamp this agenda if he gets the chance,” President Obama said at Ohio State University, his first stop of the day, later adhering to the same script at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. “We cannot give him that chance,” President Obama continued.

The president also sought to define himself in his two speeches Saturday, employing populist themes that touch on those of several past presidential campaigns while remaining entirely unique to the Obama campaign. Using a sort of “values play” evocative of the pitches used by the Clinton campaign, the president’s wife, Michelle, underscored that he grew up in an environment where everybody played by the rules, sometimes struggling to get by.

“He is the son of a single mother who struggled to put herself through school and pay the bills. That’s who he is. He’s the grandson of a woman who woke up before dawn every day to catch a bus to her job at the bank,” the first lady said of her husband in Columbus. “So believe me, Barack knows what it means when a family struggles,” she continued.

The First Lady's speech also employed a tactic from George W. Bush’s re-election campaign, in which the incumbent is portrayed as the familiar choice against an unknown risk.
“We all know what Barack Obama is -- who he is,” she said. “We all know what our president stands for, right?” she implored the audience.
There’s also a little bit of Harry Truman’s campaign evident in President Obama’s pitch, as he warns supporters that they need to re-elect him in order to stop “those guys” in Congress who are threatening to pass items like the Ryan budget. Indeed, we do!

"As long as I’m president of the United States, I will never allow Medicare to be turned into a voucher that would end the program as we know it,” President Obama said. “That’s what’s at stake in this election.”

And in preventing Republicans from accomplishing their agenda, President Obama is arguing, the lives of average Americans will continue to improve – even as he acknowledges they are not where they need to be currently.

So in a twist of Ronald Reagan’s “Are you better off than you were four years ago” trope, which Mitt Romney is using, the president is asking his supporters if they think they are on the right direction to being better off, say, four years from now.

The real question, he said, “is not just about how we’re doing today. It’s about how we’ll be doing tomorrow.”

And if you really care about how you'll be doing tomorrow...You can't possibly see yourself voting for Mitt Romney or any of these (to borrow from Michael Baisden) crazy and deranged Republicans.

You Know...I was having a writers block all last week. What I should tell you is that I write a bunch of blog posts at a time for all of my blogs..So that when I'm busy...or suffering through a writer's block..I can just schedule these posts to be published. Posts like "5" , 'Saturday 7" , "Keith's Favorite Quotes" and "Keith's Music Spotlight" ..These are fluff posts...Just for the ocassion... So I'm not forgotten... Well...Just when I thought I'd run out of ideas...Some idiot in New York and the outrage of folks on Facebook and Twitter stepped in and saved the day...

New York Post columnist Phil Mushnick caused an uproar last Friday when he wrote in his column that the Brooklyn Nets NBA team, which is moving from New Jersey to Brooklyn for next season, be called the ‘New York Niggers.'’ after the team unveiled its new black-and-white color scheme.I'm not going to pretty it up...That's exactly what he said.

In his column, he writes that since the team has begun taking creative advice from rapper, Jay-Z, who owns a small slice of the team, “What a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new ‘urban’ home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?”
He later adds, “Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York Niggers? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn Bitches or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 milli with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”

Can you believe this fool actually wrote this and published it in a so called newspaper....(The New York Post).

Mann, Facebook and Twitter blew up with this late Friday night...I didn't know enough about the story to comment until now.

The opinion sparked immediate outrage on Twitter, notes The New York Daily News.
“This Clown is a Racist Bigot, this type of animosity is ridiculous and he should be fired,” Nets guard Anthony Morrow tweeted. Sportswriter Bomani Jones added, “Just curious if this Mushnick character would say the same if say, Francis Ford Coppola owned part of a team?” Good Question.

The Arrogant Phil Mushnick has issued statements, but has not apologized. “I plan to continue to argue against the negative racial and ethnic stereotyping and the promotion of mindless violence, especially to the young and most vulnerable,” he said in a statement released by the Post.Oh so now, he really cares about Black People right? No...I think he's jealous of a Black man's success ..One black man in particular..Sean "Jay Z" Carter.

In an email to Bob’s Blitz, Phil Mushnick wrote, “Such obvious, wishful and ignorant mischaracterizations of what I write are common. Jay-Z profits from the worst and most sustaining self-enslaving stereotypes of Black-American culture and I'M the racist? Some truths, I guess, are just hard to read, let alone think about,” he added.
What mischaractorization? That's what he said. How can you mischaractorize that?
Bob’s Blitz added that the Post’s editors had no issue with his column and that Mushnick will not make any further comments on it.

Amazing....These racists are now becoming so obviously arrogant that they are not even going to apologize for their arrogance and ignorance. every decent person in New York City, regardless of race should make sure this clown and his newspaper pays dearly for his mis-step. He can have his opinion...That's his right...But you don't have to buy that rag that he writes it in. The New York Post.

This so called newspaper is just a step away from being the National Enquirer...and even they don't play the race card! Boycott the New York Post! Damn it feels good to be outraged about something again!

Smartest in the World

Kim Khardashian, Rick Santorum, Myself and a Baptist Minister were out for a
Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed
engine trouble. You all know How I hate situations like this right?

In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane
started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the
passengers that they had better jump, and bailed out.

Unfortunately,
there were only three parachutes remaining.
Kim Kardashian grabbed one and
said "I'm sexy, I 'm too good looking to die, so I must live," and jumped out.

Rick Santorum then said, "I have to run for President again in 2016 and after all I am one of the smartest people in the
world. I deserve to live."

He also grabbed a parachute and
jumped.

The Minister looked at Me and said, "Well Keith I've lived
a long and full life. You are younger and have more years ahead of you. Take
the last parachute and live your life."
I smiled and handed the
parachute back to the Minister and said, "Don't sweat it, Pastor. The so called ''smartest man"
in the world' just took off with my back pack."

Have a Great Weekend Everybody!

1.You learn a lot more by what a guy does than what he says!

2.Charm is Deceptive,Beauty is fleeting..

3.I try to dismiss the loudness of cynicism

4.You can't talk about the birth of a child without talking about what a miracle it truly is

5.All of us are little miracles in our own way.

6.Growing Up In Philadelphia, all I needed was my Bike, a bag of Frito Lays and a Water Ice and I was pretty much content! Wish that much could make me content now!

7.Every good man that becomes a father, has a dream for his family and he caries that dream and it drives him daily. It's his motivation.

8.The Older you get, the more valuable your time becomes...Don't allow anybody to waste it!

9.Love goes unappreciated most of the time!

10. My Best Time or Moment is Coming!

One night, a drunk comes stumbling into a bar and says to the bartender: "Drinks for all on me including you, bartender." So the bartender follows the mans orders and says: "That will be $36.50 please." The drunk says "Mann, I aint got no damn money." so the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

The next night the same drunk comes in again and orders a drink for everyone in the bar including the bartender. Again the bartender follows instructions and again the drunk says-"Awww mann, I'm sorry, I'm tapped out..I aint got no money." So the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

So on the third night he comes in, and orders drinks for all except the bartender. "What, no drink for me?" replies the bartender. "Helllllllllll, no. You get violent and crazy when you drink."

Five Things I Hate About Other People's Driving-

1.People who ride their brakes when they're nowhere near a red light.

2. Riding side by side with another car when they're NOT in traffic
at all.

3. Tailgating...People who ride your butt the entire time you're on a particular stretch!

4. Folks who drive slow as hell with 5 car lengths between them and the car in front of them in the "fast" lane (especially when combined with #2)

5.People who come to a complete stop when attempting to merge into traffic...(Though I admit with some guilt that when I first learned how to drive...I used to be guilty of that myself... Don't judge me...I'm being honest!)

The Education President! Barack Obama! ,The Education Candidate, Mitt Romney!!Funny! I believe there was another president...a republican , that originally coined that title..Was it George W.????? Nah...It couldn't be. This week, President Barack Obama is on a blitz to keep the cost of college loans from soaring for millions of students, taking his message to three states strategically important to his re-election bid.

By taking on student debt,President Obama is speaking to middle-class America and targeting an enormous burden that threatens the economic recovery.

Now of course the spin meisters at Fox News, who take everything the man does and try to spin it in the negative is saying that he is just trying to woo young voters. Of course he is...and what is wrong with that?

Interestingly enough, before President Obama got his road trip under way,His chief Republican opponent, Mitt Romney found a way to steal some thunder from the president’s campaign argument: He agreed with it. (For now anyway...Next week, he won't!)

The two competitors are now on record for freezing the current interest rates on a popular federal loan for poorer and middle-class students. The issue is looming because the rate will double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent on July 1 without intervention by Congress, an expiration date chosen in 2007 when a Democratic Congress voted to chop the rate in half.

President Obama is heading to campuses in the South, West and Midwest to sell his message to colleges audiences who are bound to support it.

As he pressures Republicans in Congress to act, he will also be trying to energize the young people essential to his campaign – those same young people who voted for him last time and the many more who have turned voting age since then.

The president speaks Tuesday at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Colorado at Boulder, and then the University of Iowa on Wednesday. All three universities are in states that Obama carried in 2008, and all three states are considered among the several that could swing to President Obama or Mitt Romney and help decide a close 2012 election.

Both campaigns are fighting for the support of voters buried in college debt.

The national debt amassed on student loans is higher than that for credit cards or auto loans.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has estimated about 15 percent of Americans, or 37 million people, have outstanding student loan debt. The banks put the total at $870 billion, though other estimates have reached $1 trillion. About two-thirds of student loan debt is held by people under 30.

Ahhh brings back memories of when I was in my twenties and early thirties ,when I was in student loan debt.

Thankfully, that is all ancient history to me now...but I certainly feel their pain.

President Obama, previewing the message he will give at all three colleges, said over the weekend that allowing the interest rates to double this summer would hurt more than 7 million students.

The White House said it would cost students $1,000, based on the average amount borrowed a year ($4,200) and the average time it takes to pay the loan (12 years).

“That would be a tremendous blow,” President Obama said. “And it’s completely preventable.”

Mitt Romney agreed with that conclusion even in the midst of blasting President Obama’s economic leadership. “Given the bleak job prospects that young Americans coming out of college face today, I encourage Congress to temporarily extend the low rate,” Romney said in a statement.

Both President Obama and Mitt Romney are championing what amounts to a one-year, election-year fix at a cost of roughly $6 billion. Congress seems headed that way. Members of both parties are assessing ways to cover the costs and win the votes in the House and Senate, which is far from a political certainty.

All parties involved have political incentive to keep the rates as they are.

If you remember, President Obama carried voters between the ages of 18-29 by a margin of about 2-to-1 in 2008, but many recent college graduates have faced high levels of unemployment. That raises concerns for the president about whether they will vote and volunteer for him in such large numbers again.

Lord knows ...we need their energy!

I voted just a few hours ago...I was the first one there....I was the only one there too for about 15 minutes! Then two or three people wandered in...One woman was about my age..and the man was a senior citizen.. Not a good look..

I know we can do better because..I saw it myself. In 2008 when Barack Obama ran for President...People were lined up down the halls, out into the street and around the corner...People were passing out sandwiches, Coffee and Pastries and music was playing. Yes I saw this. Why doesn't this happen every election?? It should!!

I'm betting that a lot of people don't even know that there is an election today... A primary election...but still an election...These are the so called "little" elections...The elections that most people don't think matter. They don't feel as though they matter,so they don't bother to participate.

There are certain people (Tea Party) (Republicans) that are just fine with people thinking and acting this way....Don't vote! They'll vote though...They make their votes work for them...

Let me give you all a personal example. I wrote a post last summer about an annual weekend music festival held here in Philly called the West Oak Lane Jazz festival....A weekend of street concerts filled with stars like Chaka Khan, War,Mandrill, The Urban Guerilla Band ,Roy Ayers et al...that featured various vendors, and shuttle buses to transport people from place to place.. It was a beautiful event that my wife and I and many of our friends looked forward to every year.

We won't be having it this year! No why? The Democrat who got the funding for it is no longer in office. The Republicans in office cut funding for it. Now said Democrat is running for re-election today!!! If he is elected...Perhaps the funding for this event is restored!!! A simple thing maybe...But an important reason why even the most seemingly simplest vote is still important!

I wish I could make it this plain for the majority of people who don't see the need to vote in every single election..but sadly...they may never get it! So many people have simply lost faith in a system that never seems to work for them. I wish I could restore this faith...Then, there would be no more...Little Elections!
