A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Neiman Marcus' Fashion Director, Ken Downing, while he was in Miami to style a spring fashion show. (Impeccable style and unbelievably kind!) Of all the trends he presented throughout the show, one in particular stuck out to me. Orange, in every shade, "think safety cone," he declared. This sheer blouse c/o The Orchid Boutique is a must-have, with the added bonus that it doubles as a swimsuit cover-up. The necklace, also from the South Beach swimwear mecca, had to be mine when I saw it. Statement necklaces are my thing. I love how they can transform a simple t-shirt or blouse from casual to ultra chic. Love the look? Fast forward 16 years and I'm on TV telling everyone this season's hottest trend is "sporty spice." Found in my bathroom: Tea Tree Oil, Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Serum, Benefit They're Real Mascara, Clinique CC Cream

When it comes to my beauty regimen, skincare is my top priority. I'm always on the hunt for the latest and greatest to keep my baby face looking just that, youthful. (Aren't we all?) Your skincare and makeup routine should change seasonally, and moving from spring into summer it's time to focus on less is more - less makeup, more skin, that is. Here are a few new products that I am completely obsessed with right now.

Tea Tree Oil, $7

Okay, so this is clearly not a new product but it's "magic" is new to me. My facialist, Mirza at Emena Spa, recommended I use it for spot treatment of pimples and blackheads. The all-natural oil has been used for centuries to treat skin ailments and is great for preventing breakouts because of it's antibacterial properties. As soon as you notice a pimple about to sprout, rub a dab of the oil on the affected area after cleansing your face. The little sucker should disappear, (or at least reduce in size,) overnight. But don't forget to moisturize- tea tree oil can dry out your skin if you apply too much. Added bonus? The oil is minty and will leave you feeling cool & refreshed. Look for it at any drugstore in the vitamin section.

Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Advanced Serum, $108

When prepping your skin for summer and wearing less makeup, all you want is glowing, even toned skin. Bobbi Brown's new collection of brightening skincare is specially formulated with a powerhouse combo of whey protein and SuperCitrus Complex to treat dullness, dark spots, fine lines and dryness. I started applying the Advanced Serum after washing my face and in a couple of weeks noticed a few dark spots I had fading, while the texture of my skin seemed more even. At $108 a pop it's a little pricey, but a little goes a long way.

Benefit They're Real Mascara, $23

There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it - mascara is a must. A good mascara accentuates your lashes, while a great mascara takes your from zombie-esque to bright eyed in one sweep. They're Real is the latter. As a mascara connoisseur I was surprised I hadn't heard of this one until I found it on my girlfriend's vanity during NY Fashion Week in February. I tried it, and tried it again, and ended up having to buy my own because it's that good. The unique dome tipped brush pulls even your baby lashes to extreme lengths. No clumps, no spider lash, and no flakes. The look of false lashes from a tube. (Hence the name.) Go buy it!

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream, $35

If you don't consider a tinted moisturizer or foundation part of your skincare, it's time to reevaluate. Sunscreen is a must and this new Clinique CC Cream not only offers sun protection (SPF 30), but also color correction and hydration. Yes, it's a glorified tinted moisturizer, but I have yet to find a product like this that offers superior coverage. Since receiving my sample from Clinique back in March it's become part of my daily routine. I never leave home without it, and sometimes it's all I put on! When I need to look a little more made up I top it off with finishing powder and bronzer for a more polished look. Makeup has never been easier, or better for your skin.

Flowers in my hair, don't care! Sundays are for brunching, and that calls for a chic little dress. Chic, but effortless - no one wants to fuss over anything but mimosas on a Sunday, right? A bright little lace frock (like this one from Hoss' spring collection) will amp your ladylike factor, keeping anyone from noticing when you take one too many trips to the dessert station. Cheers to that!

P.S. Brides-to-be: this dress also comes in cream and is absolutely perfect for a rehearsal dinner. If I was getting hitched it'd be my pick!

This may be my favorite dress, ever. period. Yes, my affair with Hoss Intropia continues. Black lace has been done, but red floral lace? The color is eye-catching and the delicate pattern is oh-so-chic. While it's not an everyday dress, it's the perfect frock for a spring wedding or gala. Coincidentally, I have a wedding to attend in Napa next month. Guess you know what I'll be wearing.

A while back I had photographer Emma del Rey join me on Lincoln Road to capture these images... somehow I lost track of them in the ensuing months. I was reminded of them last week when I visited the stretch of shops and restaurants twice; once for shopping (duh), and again on Friday night when I took Eric to a preview of Michael Bay's new action flick Pain & Gain. We're hardly into spring and Miami is already starting to reach it's boiling point, making leisurely strolls like this, well, sweaty. The solution? Breezy & backless, baby.

3 Ways to Wear Black & White

It's THE trend of the season, and unless you've been hiding under a rock, you probably knew that already. Back in December, I told Aventura Magazine, "You only need two colors in your closet next season—black and white" Just call me Walter Mercado. (If you're not Latin, you'll have to Google that. I typically don't go crazy on trends, but this monochromatic phenomenon is far more. Black & white is tres chic, classic, and oh so easy to wear! Feel free to spice it up with a punch of color on your lips and nails, or with a bold handbag. I'm seriously crushing on Hoss Intropia these days (last seen here on NYE, and more to come.) The Spanish line's spring collection is chock full of feminine, flirty pieces that make you feel casually glamorous. This polka dot dress is flattering on any woman, and just plain fun. Army pants are back with a vengeance, people. From the festival scene to the big screen (GI JOE, anyone?) military chic is a hot trend to watch this season. Camouflage and utility jackets aren't just for tom boys either - you'll find a cute selection of skinny jeans and sheer blouses anywhere from EXPRESS to Bloomingdale's and TopShop. My fave way to rock the trend? This utility jacket with faux leather sleeves from Forever 21 that you can wear with anything from cutoffs, to a black maxi skirt for a more sophisticated look. It's a Prom Party at Macy's!

Golden Globes Fashion Hits & Misses (CBS Miami)

Argo, Les Mis, and Girls (my fave!) won big at last night's Golden Globes, but today was all about fashion accolades. I joined CBS Miami's Lisa Petrillo and Neiman Marcus' Katharine Rubino to dish on our favorite, and not so favorite, looks from the red carpet. While there were no major standouts or train wrecks to discuss (Jodie Foster's speech aside) my best dressed actress made me want to run to the spray tan booth and break out my MAC m'orange lipstick. The beginning of a new year brings a clean slate... and sometimes, a new wardrobe, too! Over the holidays, while I was settling into my new home, I decided to purge all the things from my closet that no longer fit my style or just didn't make me happy. (I sold them off at my Kloset Klean Out sale & raised money for Dress for Success Miami. The rest went to those in need.) Presents, and ZARA's semi-annual sale, made sure my closet wasn't empty for long. The latter is where I discovered this studded trench coat, which I instantly had to have. ~~Not that you need a trench in Miami~~ It's a classic, you always need a trench coat in your closet. As for the presents, two of my favorites come together to form a playful pair - a lime green silicone Ice Watch and my beloved Hello Kitty on a studded Swarovski leather cuff. I love taking classic pieces and wearing them in unexpected ways; it's a great way to mix-up your wardrobe and get out of a fashion rut.

The first week of the year is behind us and I've already worn a trench coat as a dress (while walking my dog, no less) and worked with a new photographer - thanks Emma! - I wonder what the remaining 51 weeks have in store... I'm ready.

A Very Glamorous New Year

Call me superstitious, but I'm a firm believer that the way you welcome a new year sets the tone for the next 365 days. 2012 was full of surprises, success (thanks to your support!) and change, so I wanted to start the year with a positive outlook, ready to embrace new chapters in both my personal and professional life. What better way to say I will reign supreme in '13 than by donning a regal bun and dreamy lace gown courtesy of Hoss Intropia. (The bun worked for Miss USA and newly crowned Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo... once a pageant girl, always a pageant girl.) Dressed to the nines and surrounded by the ones I love, I kicked off 2013 feeling glamorous and ready to shine - sealed with a midnight kiss!
