I received my new gift certificates just before christmas and I am really happy with the outcome. I had help from my friend Niall Eccles who does all the Kelly's Shop art work. And My friends Chrissy and Kyle who own Spark Box Studio, they did all the technical and design aspects! I should also mention the buttons were made at one inch round, they make a lot of really fantastic products.Thank you.

For the month of October I am going to try and post things that are Halloween related.... any thing spooky creepy and or haunted. Things pertaining to vampires, ghosts and the paranormal. Canada Day in Picton 2011

There's going to be a dog parade on Main Street so bring your pug, and drop into the store from 10 am to 5 pm to get your unique "sketchy" character illustrations done by Niall Eccles. And for all the race car fans, come see Henry Schnieder's race car parked outside my store during the day!

Also, Nella Casson is coming in again with her "Spirit Strands" feather hair extensions that are perfect for summer and can be styled with your own hair. They last up to three months and can even be placed into your pet's hair for some Canada day animal flair!

I am actually just sharing Niall Eccles Character of the Day blog it's pretty much cheating.... but, I just wanted to share it. so with my best intentions here is Niall's Blog.

"Hey, do you remember the Character Of The Day for Nov. 16, 2010? I'm sure you don't, but it was 'Ferris' - the first character in a 'Kelly's Shop' series (as seen below). Well, now we're finally getting around to meeting the rest of the characters in that series, for today's Character Of The Day is the second in the series: Henry! (Also seen below)."

"If you've been following my COTD project for a while, you've probably seen me mention Kelly's Shop quite a bit. That's because it's an actual shop in Picton, Ontario, owned by my friend Kelly Roblin. Kelly sells a lot of COTD artwork (sometimes originals, currently prints) through her store, but that's not why it's an amazing place. No, Kelly's Shop is nothing less than a world of wonders unto itself. It's a gathering place, a hipster hideaway, a crafter's den, a small dog game preserve, a collector's paradise, a way-back knick knack shack, a demonic sock-hop, an illegal speakeasy, a secret celebrity rehab clinic, and the fashion capital of Prince Edward County.

Anyway, I thought it'd be cool to have a Character Of The Day series set in the magical land that is Kelly's Shop. So if you're inclined to hang around this week, you should end up meeting a few characters from in and around the happeninest shop in town..."

Maple Maple Maple

Come to the county this weekend for a maplecation.

I will be selling my cousin Philip's maple syrup.

There will be tones of pancakes breakfasts as well as maple whoopee pies and maple hot dogs at Buddha dog, Or there will be maple poutine on Elizabeth street. I think Miss Lillys will be serving maple late and maple crepes. I'm looking forward to trying the Maple Cranberry Porridge Brule at The Regent Cafe. And chesterfields will have there famous cinnamon roll with a maple icing... yum. I will be at the Fosterholm Farms Pancake Breakfast at 8am Saturday Morning. In the words of the picton BIA it's maple madness.

Pug Month

"2010 marked the first year that Prince Edward County celebrated the pig by designating the month of March "Pig Month".

This year, we are doing the same, encouraging all establishments that serve or sell local pork to shout it out and celebrate the swine!"

Lets just change the i to a u and walah it's PUG Month pugs are way cuter and they need to be celebrated too.

I have two pugs at my house this month, Piggy and Frenchie, Frenchie is staying with us for 2 weeks while her family goes on a March break vacation.

Pugs are hilarious, and friendly and cute.

which is why they have there own club with there own parties.

This months party is on the 20th it's the Pug Paddy Day party

The Toronto events are created by the pugalug Rescue

We made it!!! It's march first and the sun is shining in Picton, There is barely any snow on the ground, and there are a few things to look forward to this month, besides the warmer weather....

Another thing to look forward to this month is the March Character of the Day draw, it's not till the end of the month, but, I forgot to enter the February draw and will never forget again... Congrats to Nell Casson who won. She is now the proud owner of "reindeer"

This morning I received my first shipment of Mia Melon Spring 2011... and yesterday I ordered the fall 2011 Mia Melon, If your not familiar with this line you should be, it's from Canada and it's awesome... .Mia Melon was recently recognized as one of 3 finalists for Generation Next, a competition put on by BC fashion week showcasing the best up and coming Canadian labels for Spring 2008. Currently available in stores across Canada and in the States, Mia Melon is gaining a loyal following.

And just a reminder that our very own character of the day creator, Mr Niall Eccles will be an exhibitor at the Wizard World Comic Con March 18-20th.

As you may have heard Kelly is on Vacation! With a little help from her family and friends the shop must go on!
Ferris and Henry are having a wonderful time with their Grandparents. And its gotten so sunny that there are actually people walking around the streets of Picton.

December Draw!!! + a new online store front

DECEMBER DRAW!!

Here is the info from Niall's COTD face book page...

Yes, there will be a December Draw! It will be much like the November Draw: if you'd like to win some original COTD art, you can simply type: 'December Draw' underneath the character you've chosen in the Facebook page's photo album. But wait - not yet! There'll be one small difference from last month's draw: this time, if someone's already written 'December Draw' under that character, then it's been 'claimed' for that month's contest. Someone else has beaten you to the punch and you'll have to choose a different one. All this, just to add little more intensity to the game, and to your lives! (Yes, I know none of us actually needs any more intensity, especially this time of the year, but this is just how we're running the experiment this month...). Of course, if someone purchases your selection through Kelly's Shop first, then, again, you'll have to choose another character, if you still want to enter the contest.

So please don't write 'December Draw' under your character just yet. It will 'officially' be okay to do that as soon as you notice that the first of the 'holiday' characters has been posted. So: sometime on Sunday, Dec. 19, the very minute you see a holiday character post, then this month's contest will be open and ready to accept your entry. No 'December Draw' claim will count until then, I'm afraid. Again, this is just to get your pulse racing a little more quickly this time - it's for the sake of the game, alright? Just please remember that 'NA' stands for 'not available' and that that artwork has been sold already, or I can't include it in the contest for some other reason, so if you see those initials in the description under the drawing, please just choose another character.

The actual draw will be taking place on December 31, New Year's Eve, at Angelines Restaurant in Bloomfield, Ontario. Here's the event invite for the supersnazzy party they're hosting that night, so if you live in the area, be sure to get a ticket and come out and dance your cares away (worries for another day)...

For Example... I chose Bealsy... Now you can't chose him... You have to go write DECEMBER DRAW under one that you want... then no one else can claim it.

I love it, there is so much detail, and ferris looks so cute looking out his window.

Ode to Ferris and Henry and COTD

Big News!!
1. Ferris and Henry have there own cut out doll post card. They should be available some time next week! You can pick them up at the store or print them off the website.

2. Ferris and Henry are going to be a part of character of the day, which means... someday they will be a Character of the Day and once you become a character of the day you live in character of the day land and you might be included in a comic strip where you can interact with other characters.... you may not understand what I am talking about if not check out Niall Eccles web site or his facebook page for character of the day information.
And while I am on the subject of Character of the day here is some more Big News! COTD is now being sold exclusively at Kelly's downtown Picton and on the Kelly's web site in the Character of the Day Section.

The characters have been selling very quickly so if there is one that you are interested in let me know.
With less than one week till christmas COTD would make a great gift!
Also there will be a COTD December draw coming up very soon.... stay posted for more info.

This is a reminder that you need to come into the shop before Christmas and fill out your Christmas wish list in the Rolodex on the store counter, near the front of the shop.

Or come in and I will take a picture of you with something that you want for Christmas and I will post the pictues on facebook so that all your friends know exactly what you want for Christmas. My friend Rene Dick from Scout Design came up with that genius idea last year and it worked out really well for a lot of people.
