A Homebrew Kit for a Beginner

I know absolutely nothing about brewing my own beer. But two weeks ago, I decided I was going to try my hand at homebrewing.

I looked at several beer brewing kits in my price range ($70-$100) and most only brewed 1-2 gallons of beer. I read some reviews and decided on a 6 gallon Cooper's Micro-Brewery Kit from MakeBeer.Net. My main goal was to find a homebrew kit that included "EVERYTHING" to brew my first batch and Cooper's came through like whoa!

The Cooper's All-in-One Microbrewery Kit comes standard with a basic Lager Kit. You are not tied down to watery light beers, you can brew up a batch of tasty wheat beer, dark ale, Mexican Cerveza or many other varieties. Each kit makes 23 liters of beer or about 6 gallons (Cooper's is an Australian brewery, so you may find the metric system a bit tricky). To quickly convert temperatures, use this celsius to fahrenheit calculator or this liters to gallons calculator.

Remember, this kit comes with everything needed to brew your first 6 gallons of homebrew (even the bottles)! You will however, need 2 liter of boiling water - but I am sure you can cover that. Here's exactly what the kit includes:

This is absolutely true, but if you are like me, you only have minutes until you get your next big idea and forget that you were working on increasing your Twitter following. If you want about 100 Twitter followers in the next 10 minutes, continue reading...

In my opinion, if you want a Twitter account that reaches more than 50 people, you need to look into the Twitteroids (some steroids for your Twitter account). Of course, only the safe, free sites and nothing that requires any form of payment. Trust me, I have signed up for every website claiming to deliver free followers or great tools to improve the performance of my Twitter account.
Unless you're Justin Bieber, Chad Ocho Cinco or Lady Gaga, you need to follow people to be followed. If you don't follow people, there is no reason for them to follow you back! Keep this in mind. Here are a few random things I did to bulk-up my Twitter account when I started my t-shirt blog, thebrosource.com:

1. Find Twitter Accounts that Follow Back Automatically:
Here's a great resource I used in my first couple of days of building my Twitter following. I found this awesome list by Mike Brenner, 300 Twitter Accounts that Follow Back. Of Course, some people may have changed their settings, but you are guaranteed to pick up some free followers.

2. Automatically Follow Back Others
You can quickly increase your Twitter followers by simply setting your Twitter account to auto-follow. You can set-up your account for free at socialoomph.com/.

3. Follow Accounts in your Niche
What are you Tweeting about? Who are the opinion leaders in your niche. For example, if you are focusing on social media, you may consider following Mashable. To speed up this process, you can search for Twitter accounts and follow their followers at Tweepi.com. Again, you should see an increase in your follows (I will explain how to unfollow those who do not follow you back later in this article).

4. Automatically Post to Twitter
Visit twitterfeed.com to enable your blog or website content to be automatically fed to your Twitter account.

5. Unfollow Those Who Don't Follow you!
Every 24 hours, justunfollow.com allows you to unfollow 100 Twitter accounts that are not following you. There is no sign up required, just log in using the Twitter Log In Button.

How to Add Google Chat Widget to Website

Got a Gmail account? I thought so, homeskillet!
So, I was looking for a way to embed a Google widget into my t-shirt blog, thebrosource.com and I came across this awesome chat widget allowing the visitors of your blog or website to interact with you live via Google Talk. They don't even need to have a Gmail account. As long as you're logged into your Google email account you are able to chat with your fans.

There's no need to worry about sketchy downloads from unknown sources, simply grab the code from Google and paste it into your site. Google wrote this program in IFrame code so you are able to use it on many different platforms other than a Wordpress or Blogger Blog.

If you are using a Blogger platform, just go to "Add Gadget" and select "HTML/Javascript" and paste the code into the box and save. If you are using another platform like Wordpress, I cannot provide any assistance to you since I use Google's Blogger platform.

How to Schedule Future Tweets

Since I scored my Twitter account for my t-shirt blog, thebrosource.com, I have been looking for a simple to use program to schedule tweets for anytime in the future. I came across a few sites that have this capability, but all of them seemed confusing and too much work to figure out. Since a huge chuck of my traffic comes from Twitter, this site is a huge help.

Here's what I found - a guy by the name of Grady Britton, @gradybritton, in Portland Oregon, developed this site, Twuffer.com that allows you to simply schedule your tweets for anytime in the future alllowing your Twitter and website to run on autopilot!
