The biggest piece of advice that a beginner children’s face painter should follow is… practice. It’s just like teaching your child to ride a bike. It takes lots of practice. You can read books about children’s face painting and you can watch children’s face painting videos but none of that will give you the practice that you need like actually trying out children’s face painting.

There are several other children’s face painting tips for beginners to follow that will make sure that you don’t run into some very common problems that children’s face painting beginners often run into. You can’t lose with these 5 tips.

1. Use Thin Layers Of Paint - To avoid the common problem of cracks in the paint upon drying, it’s a good idea to use thin layers of paint. If needed, you can always apply more… pretty hard to apply less.
2. Have Lots Of Simple Designs - If you have under 10 kids in a party… fine. Do whatever designs you can think of no matter how long it will take. If you have 10 or more kids faces to paint you should come prepared with about 20-30 simple designs that are quick. Being prepared with designs that you can finish quickly will ensure that all of the children have a chance to get their face painted.
3. Use A Sponge For Larger Areas - When putting on a base coat of paint you should be using a sponge. This will allow you to cover a larger area more quickly and with less paint (because of the sponge’s ability to spread the paint).
4. Keep Baby Wipes On Hand - Baby wipes can be used to quickly remove paint in the case of an error or to clean your hands periodically. What’s great about baby wipes is that you can be sure that they won’t irritate the skin.
5. Use The Right Paint - Water based paint that is made for the face is the ONLY type of paint that you should be using. End of story.

By following the above children’s face painting tips for beginners you can be sure to alleviate a lot of the “beginner” mistakes that people run into when face painting.

Some great ideas of functions where face painting would be a hit are:

• Birthday Parties - You could actually have one theme to all of the face painting that you do. Think of a Spiderman party for boys or a Princess party for girls.
• Sporting Events - You could paint the logo of your local team on children’s faces.
• Charity Events - Face painting is a great fund raising activity. What’s the reason? The overhead for the products is very cheap. You could pay about $15.00 for enough paint for 50 faces. If the face painter is donating his or her time… you’ll be making a profit for charity before you know it.
• Any Gathering Where Children Are - Any party or function that will have many children as guests would benefit from having a face painting booth.
• Paint your kids’ faces before going on a trip in the car or flying with your kids on a plane. Keeps them focused on the fun and not on the trip itself.

At the end of the day you had fun with kids and got to practice your creative skills. Now I understand when parents drink after spending all day with a party of screaming kids. It’s lots of work but also bring the family closer together and it’s cheap.

“I’ve been training for two years now. I’m ready,” he said. “I want to look like a champ, not a chump.”

But Mark Wahlberg has more than just a few moves to his credit these days, he’s also got a healthy dose of fighting words for anybody who thinks that what the world needs least right now is another boxing movie.

Yes, there have been many classic movies to center on the sport, Wahlberg admits, and, yes, he told us last year, he’d of course like it to hold up to “Raging Bull,” the undisputed champion of the genre.

But ultimately, his performance as Micky Ward in “The Fighter” is for an audience of one, he said smiling — Micky Ward.

“I want to do him proud. The guy did everything I wish I could have done. He came from nothing, went on to win the world title with all the odds stacked against him. Did it with his mother and his brother,” Wahlberg grinned. “He’s still in the same town to this day. He’s got a regular job. He knows that I’m going to put it all on the line for him. Mickey Ward is going to be [on set, watching me] every single day.”

Co-starring Brad Pitt, “The Fighter” will follow Ward and his brother from their beginnigs in Lowell, Massachusetts to their world championship bouts. It is tentatively scheduled for release next year.

Well besides being a waste of money for the individual person, premature oil changes are causing unnecessary consumption of oil which is ringing in at $130.00 per barrel and in most cases is being imported. aside: I thought Hess and Sunoco were an all American oil company.

Used motor oil poses the greatest environmental risk of any motor vehicle fluid because it is insoluble and contains both heavy metal and toxic chemicals. When you look at the fact that in California alone there is a reported 153.5 million gallons of waste oil each year and of that figure only about 60 percent is being recycled. Now are you getting the picture?

Back in the day the auto manufacturers did recommend that your engine’s oil be changed once every 3,000 miles. Even though there has been improvements in both the engines themselves and the oils we are using it seems that this old way of thinking is sticking around.

A lot of car manufacturers have upped the mileage in between oil changes. It usually ranges now from 5,000 up to an outstanding 10,000 miles in between oil changes. Unfortunately it seems that the old “3,000 miles in between oil changes” is what people are still going by today. I prefer about 6000 miles or when the truck says it needs to be changed…

In recent years, auto manufacturers have been installing computerized systems that alert the driver when it’s time for the vehicle’s oil to be changed. There are many systems out there but most of them work by analyzing the engine temperature, rpms, vehicle speeds, and other driving conditions to calculate the rate of engine oil degradation.

These type of systems have worked “ok” but there are many outside conditions that cannot be regulated this way.

Daimler AG has come up with a more precise way of evaluating the actual quality of the engine oil. Permittivity of the oil, it’s ability to polarize in response to the electric field, is measured by applying and AC potential between the interior and exterior pipes of an oil filled sensor. This will determine how well the oil transmits the applied electric field. The more impurities that are in the oil (metal shavings from your engine) the higher the increase of permittivity.

There are certain impurities that cannot be monitored through permittivity. That is why Daimler also measures the oil’s viscosity. This will detect any fuel that has seeped into the oil. The viscosity is measured while the vehicle is in motion. It detects the oil’s side to side motion in the oil sump. The slower the motion, the higher the viscosity. The movement is registered by a sensor and the viscosity is calculated.

So it would appear that the long lived 3,000 miles in between oil changes has now become a myth on today’s newer vehicles. As always you should follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on how often your engine oil must be changed. These days… you may be pleasantly surprised.

Mozilla has just announced their release of Firefox 3. Are you going to help break the world record? This newest version of Firefox is said to be much faster and will consume far less memory than it’s predecessors with a few extra enhancements to boot.

The claims alone make Firefox 3 definitely worth the upgrade as long as you keep your existing Firefox 2 because you might loose some of the add-ons that made your experience with Firefox 2 so great.

How To Run Firefox 2 and Firefox 3

So, how do you install Firefox 3 and make it work with Firefox 2? I’m gonna tell ya how…

1. Right click on the shortcut of Firefox 2 then click “properties”. Add “-profilemanager” (without the quotations) at the end of the shortcut path. Click OK. Run this shortcut to launch Firefox Profile Manager.
   
2. Create a new profile which you will name “firefox3″ or whateva. Uncheck the “don’t ask at startup” option.
   
3. Right click and goto the properties of the firefox2 shortcut again. Remove the “-profilemanager” which you just added and replace it with “-p default” or whatever your default profile was named. This forces Firefox 2 to open the original profile. makes sense, right?
   
4. Start the install for firefox3. When asked which set up type you would like, choose the Custom option.
5. Upon completion of the installation you will need to uncheck the “Launch Firefox Now” option because there is still something else that needs to be done before the launch.
   
6. Goto the Properties of Firefox3 shortcut. Add “-no-remote -p firefox3″ (or whatever you called your new profile in step 2 above) to the target. It is the “-no-remote” that will let Firefox run a separate threaded instance. The “-p firefox3″ is what’s going to force firefox3 to run the newly clean profile.
   
7. Double click your Firefox 3 icon. You will then be prompted that Firefox is not your default browser. DO NOT click yes. Uncheck the “always perform this check when starting Firefox” and click NO.
8. Now you can run both Firefox 2 and use all your existing add-ons and the new Firefox3 at the same time. Simple right?

OK this new game is a bit harder. You had fun and saw the secret level in the last scary maze game. Now this is the sequel to it. Simply click the dot as fast as you can as it bounces around the screen. The more you click the fast it gets. Eventually you’ll be able to collect some prizes and upgrades that will give you more skills. When the second ball comes out then that’s when the real fun starts. It’s not as hard in the beginning as the original scarey maze game bit it’s got a better ending. LOL

The Murphy Bed is still surprisingly popular. They lost some fan base once the idea of incorporating a bed loft into a studio apartment became chic but they’re still holding strong.

On the most well-known style of Murphy bed, the head end is permanently mounted inside a large closet located in the wall of a bedroom or living room. This type of Murphy bed (and its closet) is usually concealed behind a pair of closet doors. In some cases where construction budgets were tight, there are no doors. Instead, the bottom of the bed is a solid panel. When folded up, this solid panel appears to be part of the wall.

Murphy Bed Fun

Less typical variations of Murphy beds included one type that was mounted on a swing arm. This arm pivoted the bed between room and closet. On another type, the head end was on casters. This allowed the bed to be stored in any large closet and rolled into any room for use. In many cases, the closet where the Murphy bed was stored doubled as a standard clothes closet.

William L. Murphy applied for a patent for this idea April 1, 1916 and was granted Design Patent D49,273 on June 27, 1916. Murphy started the Murphy Wall Bed Company and began production in San Francisco. In January 1990, the company changed its name to the “Murphy Bed Co. Inc.”

The Murphy Bed idea has even been revamped a little. Now instead of just folding up into a plain wall you have some options. Do you want to look sophisticated and give people the impression that you read? Then the Library Murphy Bed is for you.

Kimbo Slice vs Thompson Blow by Blow

Thompson is bigger, but not sure he’s got a sufficient edge in size to make a huge difference. Jimmy Lennon is set to introduce the fight. Contrary to what Shamrock said, Thompson might not exactly look scared but he doesn’t appear to be brimming with confidence either. Thompson has that ‘deer caught in headlights’ look–not sure if its focus or what. Now he’s waving his arms around and gesturing toward Kimbo. Good idea, James, make him mad. Not exactly a strategy that many would suggest that he use. Kimbo has that insane glare of blank ferocity that has become his trademark. That ‘grown ass man’ beard alone should be intimidating Thompson. He and LeBron James have the best ‘grown ass man’ beards on the planet. OK, we’re set to go…

ROUND 1:
Bell rings and Thompson rushes over toward Kimbo. Kimbo coming in low. Thompson tries a take down but it doesn’t work. Kimbo appears to have a guillotine choke and now Thompson is in Kimbo’s guard. He tries to get up and Kimbo tries for another choke and lands an elbow to the back of Thompson’s head but he doesn’t get called for it. Shamrock commending Kimbo on his ground control. Thompson pushes Kimbo up against the cage. Knees by Kimbo, Thompson trying for a guillotine while Kimbo responds with big knee strikes. Up against the cage again, under hooks by Thompson and now Kimbo pops out. Back in the middle and Kimbo looking for an opening for a big punch. He delivers but somewhat off balance. Kimbo with side control. Kimbo tries for a choke but Thompson’s sweaty bald head pops out. Thompson tires a kimura but can’t finish it. Kimbo rolls over and gets on top. Elbows by Kimbo. Sweet reversal by Kimbo and he’s trying to set up a kimura. Big punch by Kimbo as the round ends. Thompson’s round 10-9 and its got to be a moral victory to get through round 1.

ROUND 2:

Set to go with round 2, Kimbo looks more pissed than hurt. Thompson tries for a take down but Kimbo retaliates with a bodyshot. Thompson eats a few punches, tries for a take down but Kimbo sprawls out of it nicely. Thompson gets a take down but Kimbo gets a reversal. Guillotine choke attempt by Kimbo, Thompson slides out. He’s got side control now and Kimbo trying to power out of it. Ref stands the two fighters up, now he lets his hands go and is starting to expose Thompson’s weak chin. Kimbo with a combination and unloading some big punches on Thompson. Thompson was hurt but managed to get out of it for a moment with a double leg–Ranallo throws out a DDT reference. He’s got Kimbo against the cage and going for the ground and pound but doesn’t appear to be hurting Kimbo much. Elbows by Thompson with a minute left in the round. Ref threatening to stand the fighters back up–barrage of elbows and fists by Thompson with 20 seconds left. He’s taking a beating against the cage–he’ll make it out of the round but hard to see what kind of condition he’s in. He’s looked better but he could have looked worse. Thompson round again, though the first round was close. 20-18 Thompson on my card.

ROUND 3:
Obviously Kimbo needs to keep this standing. Thompson’s face looks brutal. Kimbo stalking Thompson hits him with a couple of big power punches. Right hand by Kimbo damn near rips Thompson’s ear off. Thompson out on his feet and it looks like his ear is hanging off a la Sebastian Lujan (Google it). Kimbo unleashes a barrage on Thompson who’s out on his feet. Credit to Thompson for standing up but he doesn’t know where he is. The ref jumps in and stops it, and Thompson punches at the ref either due to some bad sportsmanship or maybe he thought it was Kimbo. Kimbo was landing some bombs and if the ref hadn’t stopped it he would have ripped his ear off. The Kimbo haters will callit a premature stoppage–he was definitely tested, but it was a good stoppage with Thompson’s ear hanging by a thread and having eaten four or five uncontested power shots. Kimbo hugs JT.

KIMBO SLICE WINS BY TKO

Not the overwhelmingly decisive win Elite would have wanted for Kimbo but they have to be happy that both of their ‘meal tickets’–Gina Carano and Kimbo–are still undefeated. Thompson was surprisingly game and showed a better chin that he’s exhibited in PRIDE. Stoppage may have been *slightly* premature but the ref had been stopping the fights early all night–no doubt he, CBS and EliteXC wanted to avoid the potential ugliness of a serious injury caused by a late stoppage. In a way it could be the best thing to happen for Kimbo as it’ll just fuel the controversy regarding how good he is and/or could be and that’ll keep the grass roots ‘buzz’ going strong.

Beating Detrot in Detroit tonight should remove any doubts about this team and their coach, Doc Rivers. There were so many great plays made tonight.

The ones that stood out began with Ray Allen still on fire knocking down big time shots. The slump is over for him and after tonight’s celtics game it’s proof that the Celtics are unbeatable when he is shooting the ball well.

This was a real gut check game where we witnessed the mental toughness of this team.

The big shot by Rondo, the steal by Posey and the block by Perkins.

The composure of Paul Pierce after they took away a possible 4 pt play. He just smiled and went on to the next play. I have never seen him this composed.
KG did not shoot the ball well tonight except when it counted, in the post, on the elbow just draining jumpers.
Yes the Celtics are exactly where they wanted to be at this point in the playoffs. I think it is time to really temper the endless loop of negativity against individual players and especially Doc Rivers. This is a wonderful team to embrace.

Let me say it again it again. The Celtics and their coach are learning how to win in the playoffs and so far they have not disappointed themselves or their fans! Now if we can just get a post game party organized with the Celtics Dancers we’d all be happy.

• You may be calling home regularly to say hello and to check up on your parent’s well-being then you are a caregiver.
• You may be giving your mom a ride to the doctor or the store each week - then you are a caregiver.
• You may visit your grandfather in a nursing home regularly…then you are a caregiver.

Caregivers may be providing many hours of direct care each week or perhaps providing only financial
help because of distance. No matter what the case, caregiving can be stressful. Here are some guidelines to ensure that your time and efforts are worthwhile.

1. Your older relative is an adult. This means that he or she has the right to make decisions about her/his life. An adult child must respect that right unless the older person has lost the capacity to make decisions or will put others in danger through his/her behavior.
2. Whenever possible, offer choices. The ability to make choices is basic to freedom…so provide choices whenever possible…from where to live to which cereals to eat at breakfast to what to wear. Choices enable us to express ourselves. As options become more limited, through health losses or financial constraints or social losses, caregivers must work harder to provide options.
3. Do only those things they cannot do for themselves. Too often caregivers take over when they should not. It may be done faster if you do it, maybe it seems hard for mother to make her own meals, and perhaps the bills are sometimes overdue. Skills are maintained through use and lost through disuse. So before you take over any task be sure that mom or dad can no longer do it themselves.
4. Be sure to do what you promise to do. As people age, they often become more vulnerable and become more dependent on others. In the United States, we generally prefer to be independent,
   and we find it emotionally difficult to have to depend on others. We certainly do not want to be a
   burden to others. So, with all these mixed feelings, the older person may need to be able to rely on you
   but can’t admit it. Do what you promise. Come by the house when you have scheduled it. Remember
   that your older relative needs you more, even if that is not stated.
5. Take care of you. This may seem obvious, but people often ignore their own needs while caring for an older relative. In a time when many are caring for elders and children at the same time, as holding down a job, exhaustion and severe stress can occur. Guilt may prevent a caregiver from seeking a nursing home placement for a parent, or even prevent the use of professional or paraprofessional care. Remember, an exhausted person is more likely to make foolish decisions, or
   to snap at a parent in a hurtful way. Even elder abuse can happen when the caregiver has nothing left
   to give. So take care of yourself, take time out to do things you enjoy even if it means sometimes needing to say no to your own parent. Only those who refresh themselves can be there for the long haul.
6. Your own support matters. Families can be spread all over the country or around the world. There can be deep emotional currents when a parent becomes ill. Some family members will want to do everything…others will do very little unless they are asked. Yet spouses, brothers and sisters, children, and other relatives can do much to share the care. You may need to bring them together to organize the family as a care system.
