News. We can now publish News posts as they happen. This could be to announce an event, to show you a school trip, or to post some of the outstanding work produced by our children, celebrating their achievement and encouraging everyone to produce their own personal best.

With each post parents can ‘Leave a Reply.’ Please show your support for the childrens learning, it is always appreciated (by children and staff!).

Helping your children. The Class Information pages have useful information for parents about what your children will be learning each half term and how you can help them.

Dates. You can see the full term dates under ‘School Office,’ we also have an Up and Coming Events calendar on the home page and a full Calendar page that will provide you with more information.

Edmodo. You will see a link to our virtual learning platform which will be introduced to children shortly. Those children who went to Kidsmeet in Plymouth recently were very impressed!

E-Safety. We take care to ensure that childrens E-Safety is protected. Children are not included in any photographs if the parent has requested it. We do not include full names and will only use first names very, very occasionally, such as when a child wins a major prize.

Please take a few minutes to have look over the new site. We really want to develop this with children and parents, so if you have any questions or suggestions we would like to hear from you. Just email us via the contacts page with your thoughts.

On each News post page you will also see a ‘Subscribe’ link, we would like everyone to subscribe by either Email or RSS newsfeed to ensure that whenever we post a News item you are the first to hear about it.

Our children did exceptionally well with their readings and singing which focused on the different aspects of harvest time, both at home and abroad.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the collection of nonperishable goods for St Petrocks (a local charity that  supports the homeless).

We are again asking for your help to make this a success as in previous years.

We will be wrapping boxes in school but if you prefer to fill & wrap a box at home with your child please ensure that it is complete and wrapped completely (not to be opened). If boxes come in unsealed the contents may be shared out between other boxes that do not have so much.

The shoeboxes can be for individual boy or girl while a larger one could be for a family. Please label the boxes accordingly. If your child wants to contribute a message to go in the box please send it into the school office before 5th November.

Please also if you are able, send in donations to help send these to Moldova.

Important Dates:

• Between NOW & HALF TERM please collect items as listed above together with shoeboxes.
• Week beg. 4^th Nov.: Send in shoeboxes/items to fill them/wrapping paper/donations
• Tuesday 6^th Nov.: Boxes will be filled & wrapped in school.  Bring in boxes filled & wrapped at home (+ donations if possible)

She taught us about eating and drinking healthy foods for our teeth and the different jobs our teeth have.

We then had to chew a disclosing tablet to see if we were good at brushing our teeth.

We were!

Not only is a kitchen a lovely familiar link to children’s own ‘home’ setting but this sort of familiar secure play offers lots of opportunities for cooperative play and interaction as well as many other things too.

When playing in the kitchen the children explore and consolidate a range of skills such as filling, pouring, emptying, transferring, sorting, whisking, gathering, selecting, foraging, sieving, ladling, moulding, measuring…the list could go on and on!

The children’s engagement in this area has been wonderful to observe but we do of course get a bit messy too and so it would be great if you could send in a ‘cover all’ for your child (one of Mum or Dad’s old shirts would be perfect!) as well as a pair of wellies and then we can play and learn unhampered by the state of our clothes and school shoes!

Most of the resources for our kitchen have been gathered from a local charity shop but we are always on the look out for more pots, pans, whisks, sieves, mashers etc so if you are having a sort out please do bring things along to Class 1.

We have been getting used to our new routines and enjoying playing and learning in the different areas of our classroom both inside and outside.

Take a look at the photos and you will catch a glimpse all the different things we do at school and the different skills we are learning; playing, sharing, taking turns, experimenting, discovering, imagining, cooperating, listening, making friends, creating, concentrating and many more too..!

It gave us the opportunity to meet and make new friends who we hope to get to know better. We experienced what it is like to go to a different school, looking at the similarities and differences between their school building and outdoor space,  as well as experiencing one of their assemblies and playtime.

We especially loved exploring their outdoor space at playtime and making new friends.

The work undertaken included the installation of hot water, new sinks, hand dryers and cubicles / doors, to name but a few of the improvements.

Our School Council enjoyed meeting with Keith Mason from NPS and discussing their ideas and suggestions for the work.

The children are delighted with the results and their ideas and choices for the scheme have resulted in a very positive outcome!

The event was very well support by members of the local community who enjoyed a wide selection of cakes, biscuits and hot drinks in the company of the children from Kenn Primary.

We raised an amazing £300 from the coffee morning and non-uniform day.

There is still time, if you were unable to attend our coffee morning but would like to donate to this charity you can do so using your mobile phone.

They also grew lettuce, peas, carrots,potatoes, beans, courgettes and pumpkins.
