The reason I am writing this is a series of discussions that happened in Facebook and some other forums about various religious and communal matters. One thing I found in these discussions is that, communal elements always try to play the persecuted victim card. There is no exception, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Hindus have manipulated their followers by portraying themselves as the victims of discrimination. Â The leaders of the community will make sure that their followers always feel like a victim. Its a really strong bonding force which holds the community together, clouds its judgement and which can be easily exploited.

Sree padmanabha swamy temple

The whole argument around the temple tresure is based on incomplete information and this victim mentality. The Hindu community is made to feel that their wealth is being taken away from them. Many people ask why only Hindu temples are under government control. And then comes the communal argument, the government fears the Christians and the Muslims. Infact the government fears all religions.

Why are some temples under government control ?

It was the idea of of the royal family, during the reign of Maharani Gowri Lakshmi Bhai, many privately owned temples were taken over by the kingdom alleging mismangement. These temples became government property and when we got freedom the ownership came to the democratically elected government.

There are 2 important facts here. These temples were privately owned before the queen took over. The community did not own them. Whatever the king owned was transfered to the new democratically elected government.

Can these temples be given back to its previous owners ? If that happens a few old families in Kerala will become filthy rich.

Why is the court intervening in Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple

The temple is the asset of a Trust owned by the Royal family. Trusts are governed by Indian laws and they are required to have proper records for assets. In this case either the record was lost or it was never presented to the government. If there is such a record the royal family owns the entire treasure. If not it will be considered a treasure and the government will take over.

Who owns the churches and mosques ?

The Christian or Muslim community, the people who believe in those religions has got no control over their places of worship or its assets, They are controlled by a small group of people mostly the clergy. Legally such places are either registered as a trust or a society. The community has got no legal rights to these assets.

Should the government take over these assets ? Legally they cant. But if they make such a move I am totally for it. Both the clergy and the government are corrupt. Atleat with the government you can question, criticise and vote them out. If the government owns these properties, that money wont be directly channeled to spread hatered.

The business plan

There is a good business that anyone can start. Buy up 5 cents of land on the highway, build a place of worship there (infrastructure), hire a priest (employee), create a few poojas and offerings (products) and do some advertising. Its a busines which cannot fail. Its even better if you can concentrage on niche markets. Temples for people without children is an excellent businees opportunity.

The Indian constitution states that India is a federal, democratic, secular republic. Thats more big words in one sentence that an average Indian can chew. But the fact is that it’s just a bunch of words which means nothing. Like the old saying,

Generic viagra online without prescription

Dev

Buy Generic Levitra Online

il is in the details, lets look at each of those words from the Indian context.

Democracy
“A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.”

Are we a democracy ? Yes we are a democracy, don’t we have the right to choose between the devil and the sea every five years ? Now isnt that power to the people. Rest of the details you don’t need to know and interfere. Just exercise whatever power given to you and shut up. This is exactly Indian democracy.

Is our elected representative really our representative ? Is he free to voice my concern and take sides accordingly ? No !! He is first part of a political party and we have rules to make sure that he stays loyal to the party and not to the people. Party whips and democracy will never go hand in hand.

We have reservation constituencies where only people of a certain catse can stand for elections. Now is that democacy ? Yes if you define it so.

Federal

“Having or relating to a system of government in which several states form a unity but remain independent in internal affairs”.

Every state in a federation should have a lot of freedom, at least in their internal matters. The United States is a federal republic and each state can have a set of completely different rules. The central government primarily gets involved only in defence, finance and foreign policy. But in India almost everything is controlled by the central government. A state can’t even build a small dam in their property with out central permission.

In a true federal system, the boundaries of a state cannot be altered by the central government. In India we changed state boundaries based on language, we even split states to create new ones. A federal system cannot do that.

When the British left the princely states wanted to be independent which inlcuded the Travancore also. But Nehru and Patel threatened the then Diwan Sir CP who came for negotiations even to the extent of bombing with the Indian Air Force. When Travancore joined the union its boundaries were changed which will never happen in a true federal state.

Secular
“Doctrine that rejects religion and religious considerations”

Wow… Stop there. !!
Are you sure ?
Hell ya..
India is not a secualr country. Religion is everything here. Even the blind judiciary discriminates based on religion. Marraige laws, succession laws, reservation etc are purely based on ones religions. Now they are planning to make a law which makes it illegal for you to change your religion.

Its time for a revolution, a revolution against the system by the people. The time is near and thats why we are reading words like “sedition” quite often. The time is near because intellectuals, artists and social activists are being jailed accusing them of working against the state. The only question is how are you participating in the it.

Anna Hazare – Social Activist

Team Annas decision to enter politics is facing a lot of criticism from his team members, the IAC supporters and the general public. But still there are a lot of poeple who support the decision. I support the decision because its not a question of right and wrong, its a question of responsibility, are you just a protestor or are you ready to get into the system and take up the job of changing it.

The government learned Annas weak point. His fasts are successful, but holding them every now and then will not get as much people to the “maidan” as it used to be. It does not mean that he has lot support, it only means that people have jobs, famlies to feed and protest is not a way of life for them, atleast not for the middle class. Given the right opportunity these people will come out and show support.

The government is now ignoring Anna, they know that he cannot keep up the momentum just by fasting. Their strategy is good and Team Anna is desperate. This is a dead end for Anna as far as protest is concerned. The obvious next step is contesting in elections. They might not sweep the polls, but an IAC candidate can make a difference in the political equations. If he swings some votes it will affect who wins or who loses and that is power.

In my constituency the current MLA got a chance during his first election only because there was a third candidate who stole a lot of votes from the sitting MLA. He made a good political career out of that opportunity and went ahead to become the second best minister during the last government. Contesting elections can make an impact.

I got a chance to spend a day with one of Team Annas members, Santosh Hegde. He is also against the formation of a political party, his reason is that IAC is diluting its core mission which is the fight against corruption. But even he does not have a clear idea on how to proceed, given the current stalemate.

Some question the integrity and motives behind the IAC leaders. Anna is painted as an RSS activist (the nationalised terrorist organization) and Kejriwals stand against reservation is criticized.(3 generations of reservation and still it couldnt save the beneficiaries). What they fail to understand is that these people does not matter. They are just messengers, the message is very clear and its reads “we are ready to vote for a change”.

A system can change in 2 ways, a revolution can do it, but the damage is long term and sometimes permanent. If we respect the system it has to be changed from within and that means you have to become a part of it first. Contesting elections and getting into power is the only real way of doing that. Otherwise lets revolt, what would you prefer a revolution or a democratic process ?

When Shashi Tharoor stood for elections in Trivandrum many were skeptical, but he won with a margin of exactly 99,999 votes. This huge margin did not come from congress votes alone, it came from the middle class who voted for a change, who believed that Shashi Tharoor is someone who is different and will bring about some change.

The silent middle class message is this. Give me a candidate whom I can vote for an be proud of it. Give me someone who is like me, give me someone who represents my ambitions. Give me someone who can share my dream. I am not a protestor, but I am a responsible citizen and I will vote.

I still wonder why good people shy away from power, if we cant handle power and we expect the bad people to handle it for us or expect them to change because a poor old man fasted for 10 days, Id say we are fools. Get into the system, get into positions of power and change the system. TN Sheshan and Kiran Bedi are examples of this in one way. They took charge and showed how their power can be used properly.

We need fresh people in politics, people with ideas, people who are not already corrupted by the system, people who can think beyond communal and regional politics, and above all people who are crazy enough to think that they can save the world because sometimes craziness is what it takes to bring about a revolution.

If you say you forgive and you still have that incident in your mind, that means u are not willing to forgive. The faster u can forgive the closer u are to godliness. Revenge is the characteristic of evil, attitude derives from revenge. Understand

You are good if u can forgive someone when they say sorry but you are Godly if u can completely forgive others without sorry! Your ego might not be letting yourself to go below them, but know yourself, that is the evilness.
Losing for other might be bad in a competition but that is the only manure which can keep a relationship alive. You can either be a comfortable person with joy and love spreading above others or you can keep heavy expectations from others
Do you consider yourself so bad that your love towards them is depending on your expectation?

Love as we see can be seen in the evolution point of view as an adaptation of the species for [...]

Love as we see can be seen in the evolution point of view as an adaptation of the species for the survival. It can be widely seen as one of the major cause for the existence of humanity. The feeling of love as we know is mainly based on oxytocin hormones. This hormone is pumped into the blood stream when u cares about someone or when u feels love towards a person or an object.

Just like all other chemicals (nicotine, caffeine), even the chemical exposure of oxytocin to the body can cause addiction. This is called the addictive nature of love. This includes the urge of body for getting the oxytocin and the mental urge to be as a couple in the society.
A lot of relationships are breaking down each day because of the conflict of ideas or because of lack of commitment. But if you consider the crowd of people sticking on to the, you will see that most of the people are sticking on to the relationship just because of the fear of being single again and some of others stick on the relationships just as a compromise to the society values or as a compromise to their children.
The evolution of the love had a lot of different reasons from time to time. At present, media plays a very significant role in controlling this evolution. The idea of love, relationship and life is getting generated from the kind of media they are getting exposed to. The people who follows contents which has enriched values on love tends to have more trust whereas people who are exposed to contents with violence, haters, jealousy etc. tends to have problems with the relationships.
Societies always have an internal marketing system to keep people into a relationship. There is a very huge percentage of people sticking to their own partners because of the fear of their partner, others because they want to keep the promise they had given to the partner and some others just because of the fear to die alone.
As generations pass away with the evolving love, addiction to the love changes its face. But if there was no Oxytocin in our blood, the human race would’ve vanished from the face of earth.

Finished the works at home, its 11, so tired, the beautiful scene of children sleeping calmly gave immense pleasure to that mom. Checked the alarm clock set it before going to bed. While setting the alarm a flash of grief hit me. Need to get up at

4, if I need to finish my morning works and reach office by 9. Only five hours left to sleep. Need to jump out of bed at 4. Only five more hours, the most valuable five hours.
The most difficult question in our life is while we set our priorities for a happy life. But for the people who nourish their life with simple small things have the answer for it. The above mentioned lady wished she could sleep 2 more hours. While setting up things for her husband and kids, while arranging the house, while making food for the family and while finishing the works at office she giving up her wishes for the one she loves. Her satisfaction and happiness lies in that forsakenness. She lives for that satisfaction, which enriches her life with happiness.
Compromise is there in everyone’s life. They give up things for love. To save bus fare father walks to the office, mom postpones the purchase of new dress for getting her daughter a new dress, a boy giving his expensive toys to his poor friends, a busy business man spending half an hour daily with old people, for cleaning up the street an young person finds an hour in the morning.
These all are really important to flower happiness in our life. We must prepare ourselves not to keep everything to ourselves but to give up things for others. When forsakenness derives from love and the attitude to share what we have, starts growing a person peaks to his fullest and the society enriches by itself.

I am a born skeptic, most mallus are. Doubting and criticising anything and everything is in almost every Mallu’s blood. May be we have been like this for generations. Even God chose St Thomas for Kerala, that really says something about us. Anyways

buy cheap viagra online uk

now Kerala is now sheding its old image and emerging as a key player. Probably we will need a new saint soon.

“Emerging Kerala“, our governments attempt to attract more investment into the state is conceived as a series of promotional activities acorss the globe featuring the opportunties that Kerala offers, showcasing projects in various sectors, meeting up various buinsess groups etc. The activity culminates in a 3 day event scheduled on Sep 12 – 14, 2012 in Cochin.

When I heard about the event first I was sure, its going to be a total waste of tax payers money. The government is trying to pull off another costly stunt to build its pro development image. Maybe its means to hoard away public attention from the various internal issues they are facing. Yes.. I am one of those conspiracy theorists who believe that 911 was an insider job.

With a communist in every one of us we are trained to think that Kerala is anti development. Its something we are hearing from the day we are born, trade unions, political involvement, strikes, companies moving out of the state all are a part of Kerala’s history. But if you really open your eyes and look around, you can see Kerala has changed.

Believe me when I say our roads have improved, Its just a 3.5 hour drive from my native place in Kottaym to Trivandrum, thanks to the widened and rubberised MC road. Our trains are running on time even though it has nothing to do with Kerala. From any place in Kerala an Airport is within 3 hours of driving.

All major school chains are now operating in Kerala and most of them have aggressive expansion plans, we have more than 130 engineering colleges here, 7 years ago while I was still an engineering student it was just above 50. There are 20+ medical colleges.

A drive though the Ernakulam byepass from Aroor to Edappally will show you the emerging Kerala. The lakeshore hospital which is known as the first corporate hospital in Kerala, The le-meridian convention center, Eastern corporate office, Hotel Holiday Inn, show rooms of almost all of the luxuary car brands of the world, many fine dining restaurants and the biggest shopping mall in Kerala…. and what now. Kerala is really emerging.

This is just the beginning, the government is inviting proposals from private investors for projects that can be implemented in a PPP model where the government also will be partner. More over the emerging Kerala website features a number of project proposals created by various government departments and agencies. If atleast 10% of those projects materialize the “Emerging Kerala” activity can be called a success.

I dont know much about Anil Aickara to recommend him. But I know a lot about the other two candidates to tell you that you should not vote for them.

I dont hold any personal grudges against Anup (UDF) or MJ Jacob (LDF), infact MJ Jacob already as

The reason why we should not vote for them is that they represent 2 parties who betrayed the people of Kerala. The 141 members of the local assembly and 20 Loksabha MPs were of no use to the people of Kerala during the time of a crisis.

Instead of representing the very own people who elected them they choose to take sides with the wishes of their party leadership from the center. They betrayed us for their bosses.

Its time for us to send them a clear message that we are not out of options. The people of Kerala can vote for a non LDF/UDF candidate. Vote for Anil Aickara.

Tea and coffee are the most popular beverages worldwide. People holding cups of coffee at public places, workspaces littered with coffee cups are a common sight. While tea is made from the leaves of plants Camellia sinensis, coffee is made from coff

ee beans. Both of them contain caffeine which is a drug notoriously known for its effects on human body. The most noticeable effect is the boost in energy that it provides. More often it is used as a drug by many people. It is natural to wonder why plants have caffeine.

Caffeine is well-known to have ill-effects even on humans. Plants secrete caffeine to protect themselves from insects and animals that might eat them. That is, they are a defence mechanism to protect them from destruction. Coffee contains caffeine in much higher amounts than tea. A strong cup of coffee contains as much as 200 mg of caffeine. Tea contains much lesser amount of caffeine.

Large doses of caffeine cause anxiety, jitters and general malaise. Gradually the effects become more dangerous and they result in life-threatening situations like irregular or weak heartbeats ultimately causing death.

Though caffeine is very dangerous for both insects, animals and humans alike, their effects are more pronounced in smaller animals and insects. Human bodies have bigger biological systems and organs which work very efficiently to remove all the toxins and chemicals from the body. On consumption of a cup of coffee, there are many enzymes in the liver which work together and convert the harmful caffeine to harmless by-products. Eventually they get extracted from the body.

Unlike humans, insects do not have this luxury. They have a very small body and do not have large livers full of different kinds of enzymes. Since they have a restricted food chart, they only eat specific kinds of food. That is, their digestive system enables them to digest only certain types of food. They carry only the enzymes essential for them to digest the food they normally eat. Even a very small amount of toxin is highly toxic for insects thanks to their small body and defence mechanisms.

Different parts of plants produce varying amounts of caffeine. This is evidence enough that caffeine plays defensive role in plants. The concentration of caffeine varies in different parts of plant depending on the vulnerability. For example, leaves especially tender young leaves contain maximum amount f caffeine as compared to other parts. This is because they are the most vulnerable. Young leaves being tender, they are easy to chew for herbivores. Hence they secrete high amounts of caffeine thus playing gracefully carrying out the role of defence mechanisms. Tougher, bigger leaves are hard to chew and therefore less vulnerable to attacks from herbivores.

This is the secret of tippy leaves. The tea leaves when young and tender are plucked because they contain high caffeine concentration as compared to mature leaves. The next time you go shopping for tea or coffee you know what to choose. Before having your cups of coffee remember what you are consuming.
