While scouring the web, for this week's 'what-what' I came across this letter. It is allegedly, a letter sent to a customer's wife. Inside, she found the following letter outlining issues with her husband's visits to the store.

Dear Mrs. Denner,

Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may be forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Denner are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking.

July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in House-wares to go off at 5-minute intervals

July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in House-wares. Get on it right away."

August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway.

September 14: Moved a "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign to a carpeted area.

September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department.

September 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?"

October 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme.

December 6: In the auto department, he practiced his "Madonna look" by using different sizes of funnels.

December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled "PICK ME! PICK ME!"

December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fatal position and screamed "OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!"

December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, "Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!"

Once again we cannot tolerate this behavior in our store.

Regards, Wal-Mart (Thanks Bradley)

Will Wal-Mart ever cease to bring us great entertainment? I think not. Seems to me, Mr. Denner needs his own HBO special. Can I get a What-What?

Emmett Longley just lost his job and home. When he hears of a ranch needing a jack of all trades, he jumps at the chance. What Emmett didn’t expect was to find himself drooling over his new boss. And the man was giving off some weird vibes. Was Kit gay or not?

Good morning everyone, with the mountain of snow outside I think it's only fitting that we warm it up a little in here today.

So to bring the real heat, straight off the streets, I have a special surprise for you, none other than Ms. Meesha Mink. Meesha is a national bestselling and award-winning author of eleven previous novels.

Leave a comment between 11-16 January and you'll be entered to win a free copy of Meesha's new book, Real Wifeys: On the Grind. For now, join me in welcoming Meesha Mink to the stage. Welcome Meesha.

First, I want to thank you for having me on your blog today. Like any writer I love, love, love a chance to talk about my books and share them with new readers.

REAL WIFEYS: ON THE GRIND

is a really interesting coming of age story about Goldie, a young girl, who struggles with three major points in her life. The first part was growing up extremely poor and having a desire for money. The next hurdle for her, after finding a hustle to make money, was her gaining power by being a boss of her situation, and then the book shifts into events that lead to her having to make a choice between her love of money and power versus her self-respect.

In today's society, I think a lot of women--particularly young woman like Goldie--face these types of struggle with money, power, and respect and I definitely wanted to just show how the wrong decisions can bring even more drama into your life than not having that focus.

When I was coming up with Goldie's hustle to make money--after her lover of the last six or seven years dumps her once, his wife discovers their affair-- I remembered my Mom telling me all these crazy stories about people who lived in the projects where she worked for the Housing Authority in Newark. And one of the stories was about a girl who actually ran a strip club out of her apartment on the weekends. Seriously, it blew my mind that 1) someone would be that bold, and 2) I wondered what her motivation was, what her story was. I didn't know it and so I decided to create it. To shape it and mold it. Everything about the book is fictional but I know that there are so many real women with their eyes on the wrong prize and definitely taking the wrong path to get it, I would like to think that a lesson could also be learned while the readers are being entertained. Definitely some edutainment.

My motivation also was trying my best to deliver a well-written story because of some of the hard knocks that the urban fiction genre takes from others within the writing community. As I stated on my post "I Love Urban Fiction…And?" from my own blogsite:

"Call it whatever kind of fiction you want: urban, hood, inner-city, ghetto,

hip-hop. Whatever. We all know what you mean whether we like the term

you use or not. All of the books have a commonality: the setting. Characters

are different. Motivations are different. Writing skills are different.

Publishing houses are different. Advances, publicity, etc. etc."

Like fiction in general, you're going to have the good, the bad, and the ugly, but I think people lump all the books of this genre together so I think it's more and more important to have a good segment of the urban fiction writers deliver not just a drama filled story but a well written, cleverly delivered piece of fiction. Period."

Overall I just hope people enjoy the ride as they read the book and are amped for the next installment with a new wifey with her own set of issues!

Meesha Mink is the bestselling and award-winning author of more than twenty books under various pseudonyms. Her solo urban fiction debut, Real Wifeys: OnThe Grind, has been hailed as a "disturbing installment of a gritty new urban series with a down and dirty intensity that's heartbreaking" by Publisher's Weekly. The Newark, NJ native is busy at work on a new novel and currently lives in South Carolina.

So I’ve decided that I'm going to blog more this year. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.
Ok, so as promised I have something to share. Please keep in mind this is a rough draft and straight out of the mind of an author with a mind on vacation. Leave a comment and your name will be entered to win a prize. What's the prize? Now if I tell you that what fun would it be?

I hope you enjoy the story.

Confessions

Most would say there’s no reason for my career choice. Raised with a strong religious background, I came from a good home based on sturdy family values. After all, my father was Pastor of Mt Zion Methodist Church—one of the most prestigious churches in our area. My mother—a homemaker, but not just the average run of the mill stay at home mom. My mother made Martha Stewart look like a William Sonoma sample chef. Need I say more?

My behavior, appearance and choices, constantly monitored by watchful eyes and examined under a congregational microscope. I couldn’t inhale without a member of my parents’ flock there to pass judgment on the exhale. Now don’t get me wrong. Yes, I lived a sheltered home existence. Sure, I had dreams, just like everyone else in the world. Somewhere in there, around my nineteenth birthday this life became too constricting. I felt as if my very soul dwindled from within just a little more every day. I became what my parents referred to as a ‘challenge to authoritative figures’. Whatever the hell that meant. All I wanted was to be free and have control of my mind and of course my body. I’d been mentally beaten into submission for as long as I can remember. My ears burned, hearing daily sermons blasting sins of the flesh and how showing flesh was a means to an end. Memories of my mother’s advice still rang in my head like the Bells of St Mark.

“Listen to me well Selena, a sexual life outside of marriage wears out the body and mind. There can be no salvation without sense and love of yourself.”

I’d always sit quietly and listen, not because I wanted to, but because I had no alternative but to do so. I would daydream about how she’d react if blood spew from my eyes and ears. Would she continue with the usual lecture, or switch to a topic more suited to the Stigmata? I’d take time out from my reverie to respond to her every now and then.

“Yes, I know mother.”

“You say that now, but you’re getting older. The flesh will beckon you; cause you to bend to its will. Eventually, it can become your undoing because a sexual life that is not connected with love requires much more power than a normal matrimonial relation within in marriage.”

“Yes, mother. I will refrain from delving into matters of the flesh until I meet the man with whom I will spend my eternal life.”

“Waiting is always better child. There is no need to rush into a thing such as this.” Her eyes reflected a timeless wisdom. A perception of something I had no knowledge of, nor could I understand. “I’ll leave you to your thoughts.” The memory of a brush of the kiss she left on my forehead, still haunts my memories.

You’d think with our many conversations of promiscuity and being true to one’s self, I’d gravitate to a more suitable career choice. Unfortunately, all it did was drive me towards sex and in some of the most depraved ways possible.

What now? I've had blocks before, but this one...this one has taken over my life!

I've come to the realization that the year 2009 kicked my ass. I did spend nine months of it pregnant. The last of which I spent on bed rest.

Then 2010 came in. Starting the new year with a teenager graduating. another teenager venturing into a new high, and moving into a new home just two weeks after the birth of our new baby. Later, I had to learn all over again how to leave a new baby with a stranger and head back to work. During this time...let's just say the writing wasn't happening. Yes, it was a rough year.

So, the block has been with me for almost a year now. Yup, I didn't studder. Now I have to admit I've written some things here and there, but between eight hours at the office and taking care of my family duties, I just can't seem to find the flow to put the finish on anything. So what can I do?

Not being one for New Year's resolutions, I'm going to try a little exercise. I plan to begin writing short entries at least every other day somewhere on the web. I have a few different places I'll post, Facebook, my blog, Twitter, Formulations of my Mind blog and of course the Playground. Hopefully something will spark and I'll get back on the proverbial horse again.

Come find me and leave a comment. There will be gifts along the way, so be sure to comment. Besides, I could really use the supportive boost.

Ready, set, go!
