Kenya safari package trek to Mount Longonot and Hell's Gate National Park, while enjoying Loita Hills walking safari trail. Tour to Kenya Maji Moto hotsprings, Masai Mara village walks and the amazing Loita Hills trek.

Walking Safari Package (12days / 11nights)

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi Kenya where you will meet Kenya Safari Places representative and company safari driver who will transfer you to your Nairobi accommodation for your safari briefing and offer you tour options you could opt for in Nairobi. Spend the rest of this day at leisure in your hotel. Given that this is an arrival day, you are free to arrive at any time. Have your overnight at Nairobi Safari Club or your preferred hotel in Nairobi.

Day 2: Kenya Hell’s Gate National Park

Wake up to have your early breakfast before checking out of your Nairobi hotel and start the transfer to Hell’s Gate National Park through the scenery Great Rift Valley. Before reaching Naivasha, we branch off to enter Hell’s Gate National Park where the scenery is as spectacular and dramatic as the cliffs form a backdrop to the gorge. After setting up the camp, head out and drive to the Lake Naivasha shores to enjoy an afternoon walk around Crescent Island Sanctuary. Hell’s Gate game reserve allows the traveler to get closer to wildlife and game species. Return to your safari camp in Hell’s Gate National Park to have your dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Hell’s Gate National Park – transfer to Mount Longonot Kenya

Have breakfast before traversing through Hell’s Gate National Park on foot. Common animals in Hell’s Gate national park include the Masai giraffe, Thompson’s gazelle, Baboon, Zebra, Cheetah, Leopard and Ostriches that also inhabit this park together with an abundance of birds. During the safari walk, the traveler will come across many of these inhabitants of Hell’s Gate. The park’s gorge backdrop adds to this dramatic effect of many surprises that turn up as you enjoy this walk. After the safari walk, your safari vehicle will come to pick you up and you will be transferred back to your camp at the base of Mount Longonot in the national park. Have dinner and overnight at your safari camp.

Day 4: Walking Safari in Mount Longonot National Park

Have an early breakfast at your safari camp then go trekking up to Mount Longonot’s rim (2,776m). The trek will start from your campsite to take you on a path uphill through the brushes. While on this trek, it is highly recommended for the traveler to take care especially if the walk is done during the wet season since some sections of the trek are steep. You will reach the rim of Mount Longonot’s crater after about an hour of walking. The view from the top is very stunning, and one is able to see down to the floor of the forested crater. Follow the path around the rim in an anti-clockwise direction. This safari walk takes about 6 hours. Watch out for the steep drops on either side of the mountain as you enjoy the photographic views in all directions. One look down on Hell’s Gate will enable you see the Aberdares to the east and Lake Naivasha to the north. Have your dinner and over night at your safari accommodation.

Day 5 & Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve

This safari day, depart from Mt Longonot national park and take the drive south-west to the next safari destination, the Masai Mara – one of the finest wildlife reserves in Africa. While on the Masai Mara safari, you will enjoy the scenery of the Riverine woodlands, rolling green plains and the various game species like the leopard, black-maned lion and cheetah. These predators enjoy an abundance of food supply in the huge herds of zebras, wildebeests, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle that stray about in the grasslands. Travel around the Mara’s open plains during the morning game drives and afternoon game drives. Camping will be on a private concession in the Siana Springs of the Masai Mara. It is from this area that you will leave for game walks, game drives or preferred night drives in the Masai Mara. These two days will leave any traveler satisfied with all possible game watching and sightseeing while in Kenya Masai Mara. All meals and accommodation will be at Siana Springs or your preferred camp.

Day 7 & Day 8: Kenya Masai Mara – Maji Moto, Loita Hills Trek

Have a morning game walk then drive to Maji Moto (meaning, hot water) village to watch hot spring bubbles spiral out of the earth at the foot of the Loita hills. The hills divide the Great Rift Valley from the Masai Mara and they form part of the traditional homesteads of the Masai warriors – often seen with large herds of livestock. Maji Moto village also has a wealth of wildlife. Have meals and overnight stay at the Loita Hills Forest area campsite.

The village walk through the Loita Hills will see the traveler walk from one village to another, passing different traditional homes for the Loita Masai that inhabit these hills. Most amazing discovery, while on this Loita hills trek, is the complete lack of encountering any form of ‘western civilization’. The Loita Hills village walk will start with a day walk through the surrounding forested foothills.

Day 9: Loita Hills Trek: Maji Moto – Olorien in Masai Mara

This safari day will see the traveler gamble deeper into the Loita Hills region as he/she treks from Maji Moto to the bases of Olorien. The trek today covers 19 kilometers and should take approximately five hours. Wake up to have an early breakfast then depart the Maji Moto village and cross the flat grasslands and dry streambeds. As we walk in the shadows of the Olchorro Nyukie ridgeline, we will approach the Loita Hills base and the small Olorien village. The Masai village of Olorien got its name after the discovery of large amounts of firewood in the area. Unlike firewood, water is not as abundant for the local Masai, and it sometimes gets very scarce. Have dinner and overnight at any Masai safari camp of your choice.

Day 10: Loita Hills Trek: Olorien – Naro Osura

Today the traveler will trek through a distance of 18 kilometers (in a five hour walk) from Olorien to Naro Osura. Enjoy sightseeing opportunities such as the salt lake where the Masai cattle herders congregate with their livestock. After walking cross the Moroto River, arrive at the open plains for the possible opportunity of wildlife watching. Continue on the walk, and cross another two rivers before reaching the outskirts of the small Naro Osura town to stock up on supplies. While Naro Osura can be considered as a small town by western standards, it is a busy hub for the Masai because they sell and buy livestock at the market here. Dinner and overnight in Naro Osura

Day 11: Loita Hills Trek: Naro Osura – Entasopia Valley

Wake up to have breakfast that is heavy enough to see you through the longest walk on this walking safari in Kenya. Having enjoyed relatively easy safari days of walking, today you go on the longest trekking. Today’s trek will last between 6 hours and 8 hours through a distance of 22kms into the Entasopia Valley. Great scenery as one walks along the mountain ridges, down into the valleys, past filled fields of crops, and crossing rivers and villages. Have lunch at a village near Enkutoto, and then continue along the wide river valley of Entasopia. Spend this last night camping along the Entasopia River banks.

Day 12: Loita Hills Trek: Entasopia Valley to Kalema – transfer to Nairobi

After your breakfast, embark on the last safari walk through 18 kilometers journey (the walk to last between 5 hours and 6 hours) to Kalema. Walk into a thick forest just before starting the climb to the Nguruman Escarpment to enjoy spectacular views over the Great Rift Valley. The final bit of this Kenya walking safari is a 600 meters descent down the valley ridges to Kalema village. It is in the village of Kalema that we shall be met by our safari vehicle to be driven and transferred to Nairobi Kenya, where this safari package ends. Accommodation in Nairobi is not inclusive in this tour, but can be arranged on your behalf while booking this tour package. It is highly recommended for the traveler to spend this night in Nairobi unless their flight out of Kenya is after 1900hours. Advice your safari driver guide on your preferred drop-off point. End of Kenya safari.
