It was established through the Central bank of Kenya Act of 1966, a Kenyan Act of Parliament. The inception of the bank followed the desire by the three East African countries, Kenya Uganda and Tanzania to sovereign monetary and financial policies. Before the establishment of CBK the three East African countries operated under the East Africa Currency Board which collapsed son after the formation of CBK.

CBK policy is determined by the board of directors whereas it is the Monetary Policy Committee that is responsible for formulating the monetary policy. The board of directors consists of the Governor also acting as the chairman, the deputy governor also acting as the deputy chairman, the permanent secretary who is a non-voting member together with five other non-executive directors.

It is the Kenyan President who appoints all the board members. Each member works for a term duration of four years. However, the board of directors can be reappointed to the office for as long as they do not hold office for more than two terms. The headquarters of CBK is located in Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi and it has three other branch offices in such major towns as Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret. The Kenya School of Monetary Studies, the only monetary institution in Kenya, is also owned by CBK.

The Central Bank of Kenya functions under quite a number of functional segments. These consist of the motes and coins segment, monetary policy, treasury securities, national payments system, bank supervision, publications and research together with deposit protection fund. The main responsibilities of CBK include the formulation and implementation of the monetary policy in order to accomplish and sustain stability in the general price levels. CBK also promotes liquidity, solvency as well as appropriate functioning of a firm market based financial system.

Barclays Bank Kenya

Barclays Bank is considered one of the leading banks in Kenya. Bing is not new rather has been around for a while. It was previously referred to as MSN Search. Bing has gone under several other names in the past including Live Search and Windows Live Search.
Compared to other search engines, Bing has several unique features. The most popular are the interface features. If you get the chance to use the search engine, you will notice that its background images change every day. What is interesting about these background images is that they are of important world locations. Still, it is not uncommon to find sports, people and animals as background images. If you direct your computer cursor on the image, you will be provided with details about the image
Another important feature on Bing is media. The search engine comes with video thumbnail preview. In this feature, you only have to hover your cursor over the thumbnail of the video that has been displayed to play it. Instant answers is the final feature. The search engine displays the scores of the most recent sporting matches. It also provides you with flight tracking, product shopping as well as health information.
Unlike other search engines, this search engine comes with accelerators and web slices. An accelerator allows you to directly access the search engine’s features from a selected text in a particular web page. Accelerators help to make your experience as an internet user more interesting. Some of the accelerators provided and that you are at liberty to use are Bing shopping, maps and a translator. On the other hand, the web slice is what you use to monitor the information that you gather on Bing. Popular web slices include weather, traffic and finance Bing.
Using Bing is easy. All you have to do is enter a keyword into the query box and click on the search box. All the web pages that feature your chosen your keyword will be displayed and it is up to you to pick one that contains the most relevant information. If you would like to learn more about the search engine, you can research online

Gmail--Free Email Service in Kenya

Gmail is an email service that is provided by Google. The school which was founded back in 1939 was originally known as Egerton Farm School. It is important to note that the university was not intended for African students. At inception, its aim was to provide agricultural training for European youth. In 1955, Egerton Farm School changed its name to Egerton Agricultural College. During this time it provided agricultural training and offered certificates and diplomas. It was only in 1966 that the college formally opened its doors to African students. In 1979, it was established as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. It was in 1987 that the university became a fully chartered public institution of higher learning.
Egerton University is well known for winning the Zain Africa Challenge three times in a row. It has six faculties; Health Sciences, Agriculture, Arts and Social Sciences, Science, Education as well as Engineering and Technology. The university also runs a continuing education center in Nyahururu. The mandate of the center is to offer certificate/bridging courses to individuals who do not the minimum qualifications required for the university’s Bachelor of Commerce degree program. The center offers mathematics, Kiswahili and English bridging courses.
What is unique about Egerton is that it has partnered with Western Michigan University in the US that allows students to complete their courses in a foreign country. Joining Egerton University requires that you pass your Kenya Certificate of Secondary and are selected by the Joint Admissions board. Since it is a public university, the university charges reasonable fees. However, if you cannot afford, you can apply for assistance from the HELB (Higher Education Loans Board).
The university has numerous societies and clubs. This means that whatever your interests and tastes, the will be catered to if you join Egerton University. Some of the popular clubs include aisec, peace club, president’s award and youth assembly. It is worth noting that some of the clubs for instance aisec have both national and international ties. Aisec gives Egerton students the chance to study and exchange students in foreign universities.

Strathmore University Kenya- Where Excellence Reigns

Strathmore University is a private university that was established back in 1961. It is owned by the Strathmore Education Trust. However, it has not always been a university. At inception, it was an advanced college that offered art and science subjects. The university has 3 main faculties that offer Information Technology, Hospitality Management and Commerce. It has two institutes. These are for continuing education and humanities, development studies and education. The campus also runs several schools including the school, accountancy, graduate studies, administration and administration.
Strathmore University takes a different route in the application process. Compared to public universities where one is only required to complete an application and wait for admission, the university mandates that all individuals interested in joining any of its courses/programs sit for entrance examinations. The exams consist of mathematics and English aptitude tests. Once you pass the aptitude test, you are invited for a panel interview. It is worth noting that Strathmore University unlike public universities charges a Ksh. 600 fee for the entrance examinations.
Strathmore University charges higher fees compared to public institutions. You should not take this to mean that you cannot enroll in the institution. The university in conjunction with Commercial Bank of Africa has established the SLS, Student Loan Scheme. This is a loan facility that allows parents whose children study at the university borrow money from the bank for purposes of paying school fees. The loans attract an interest rate of 1% every month. You are allowed to repay the loans by installments.
Strathmore University also provides scholarships and bursaries to needy students. Instead of giving the scholarships directly, the university helps needy students secure alternative resource sources that help them pay for their education. The university also seeks for financial assistance from individuals as well public and private institutions to help it educate bright but needy individuals.
If you are looking for an institution that offers world class education, you should look no further than Strathmore University. The university offers online admissions for those who are busy during the day. However, you need to understand there is a lot of competition for the University’s programs. According, you must perform exceptionally well to get in.

Kenyatta University- More than Teacher Training

Kenyatta University is a public University that is located on the Nairobi-Thika highway. Over half of the young people who have completed their college and university education are unemployed. Individuals search for job vacancies in Kenya in different places.

So what are some of the best places to look? One of the best places to look for job vacancies in Kenya is newspapers. Every day, there are job postings in the classified section of major newspapers. If you can afford to purchase a newspaper, do so everyday as there is a chance that you can get a job that fits in well with your qualifications. If you cannot afford, you can take a different route. Wake up early and visit the local newspaper vendor to peruse through the newspaper. You do not have to be told that you first have to create a good rapport with the vendor before they can allow you to touch their papers.
You can also search for job vacancies in Kenya on the internet. There are many websites where you can find job postings. Though the number of people who can access the internet in their homes is steadily rising, a big number of job seekers still flock in cyber cafes to conduct their searches. Compared to newspapers, the internet has far more job postings. This has to do with the fact that companies and organizations choose to advertise vacant positions on their websites.

It is worth noting that a good number of individuals have gotten their jobs on the internet. Still, there are others who have been scammed. Crooks have realized that there are people out there who are desperate for jobs. Therefore, they post advertisements on popular websites. They then ask for cash from those who apply. It is therefore, very important for you if you are searching for job vacancies in Kenya on the internet to be extra cautious. Never send to anyone cash.

Newspapers and the internet are the two major places you can get job postings. Still, it is possible for a close friend or individual to provide you with information on recent job vacancies in Kenya.

Finding Jobs in Kenya

In Kenya today holding a degree is not the ticket to employment. Commonly referred to as ‘tarmacking’, many graduates spend years on end looking for jobs that they never seem to find. The job market is highly competitive and without a competitive edge, your chances of landing rewarding jobs in Kenya are next to zero.
The mistake most people make is to wait until they clear out of college so as to begin searching for jobs. Ideally, you should begin making applications within your last academic year in tertiary education. This way, you stand a chance to land a position in organizations that prefer fresh graduates as well as those that are willing to take in candidates for apprenticeship programs.
Once you kick off your search for jobs in Kenya, you need to exhaust all the possible criteria. Consider browsing through the several Kenyan job search websites. The most popular ones include Brightermonday, Kenyan-jobs, Myjobseye.com among others. Some are free while others require subscription. However, you must be cautious with websites that ask you for payment in order to secure a job interview.
Recruitment agencies also act as a good link to finding jobs in Kenya. Ideally you will have to pay a certain membership fee as determined by the specific agency and thereafter you will be required to disburse a specific fraction of your salary as per your agreement with the company. Always strive to deal with reputable recruitment agencies. You will rely on your gut feeling on this one or seek referrals from your acquaintances.
Go through company websites and post your CV on their recruitment page if they have one. It is also advisable to register for job alerts on these websites so that you can know when a job matching your skills is posted. Make a point of getting a copy of the Newspapers especially on Wednesdays and Fridays as the always contain quite a number of job postings.
Word of mouth is also a great way to help you get started in the job market. Let your acquaintances know the kind of employment you are seeking so that they can inform you about any job openings they know of. Social networking sites like Facebook are also great platforms to pass across word and get job leads. You must however blend in al these criteria and not just rely on one option as you search for jobs in Kenya.

NGO Jobs in Kenya: Finding a Good Job

There are quite a number of Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) operating in Kenya. As a result there are also quite a number of NGO jobs in Kenya at the national, grassroots and regional levels. Most NGO jobs are quite rewarding and more and more job seekers are eyeing job opportunities in such organizations.
People looking for NGO jobs in Kenya may consider going through the various NGOs operating in Kenya. These include the Ford Foundation, a non-profit organization involved with the disbursement of loans and grants in such areas as peace and social justice, knowledge creativity and freedom as well as asset building and community development.
NGO jobs in Kenya are also available at the Aga Khan Foundation, also a non profit organization operating in health sector reform, rural development, strengthening civil society organizations as well as improving quality education. Care Kenya is another international NGO providing emergency relief and poverty eradication services particularly at household levels.
Save the children is also an organization that offers NGO jobs in Kenya. It began its operations in Kenya in 1984. It is mainly involved with such social and health categories as HIV/AIDS, education, abuse and exploitation as well as disaster and conflict. It also handles such issues as gender discrimination, emergencies, food security and street children.
NGO jobs in Kenya are also available in such Christian organizations as World Vision and Catholic Relief Services. World Vision kicked of its operations in Kenya around the 1970s. It is mainly involved with offering help for children, families and communities with the aim of seeing these groups attain full potential. Catholic relief Services on the other hand begun its operation in Kenya in the 60s. Its primary focus is on sustainable agriculture, water and sanitation, emergency support, justice and peace as well as community health interventions.
Most NGO jobs in Kenya involve reaching out to the people at the community level. What is more, people working in NGO especially under the outreach programs may have to relocate to the hardship areas. Most Social studies graduates have higher job prospects in NGOs in Kenya.

Quotes:A Look at Kenyan Quotes

Many people can use a quote or two from famous people such as Shakespeare, Albert Einstein and other famous figures. Needless to say, Kenya also has also has had its fair share of famous and even ordinary personalities who have uttered quotes worth remembering. The quotes may be funny, wise, meaningless or just plain stupid but we do find a place for them in our daily conversations or literature.
For instance “We’re small because when they took the (Africans) into slavery, they took the big ones.” This is a quote uttered by an ordinary Kenyan woman, Mwanasiti trying to account for the height and small size of Kenyans.
Many are times when we remain awe struck by the innovations and developments so introduced by the mzungu. It is in admiration of the convenience brought about by the use of ferries that one Kenyan woman aboard a ferry headed towards South Coast uttered this quote “Mzungu is great – so full of wonders. We are on a piece of metal and we are not sinking.”
Further still, Kenyans have also uttered some quite inspiring quotes worth mentioning. For a lack of a better way to stress the importance of hard work, this young Kenyan business woman, Joan K made this quote in reference to people who seem confused about life and do not make an effort on achieving what they so wish to get. “Life is simple. You are born, you do your thing, and you die. It’s easy. Anyone can do it.” We all know that if life were that easy then each and every one of us could live the kind of life we so envision in our mind.
Many are times do we make comparisons about Kenyans and Tanzanians. Generally, we just seem like complete opposites. While Kenyans come out as aggressive, full of life and dare devils, Tanzanians on the other hand come out as courteous and polite. It is in reference to such comparisons that Dr.Mavura from Tanzania uttered this quote “Rioting is a Kenyan thing. If they didn’t do it, they’d be Tanzanian.”

Funny Quotes|Kenyan Funny Quotes: Kenyans are One Funny People-Sample This

<m:smallfrac m:val="off"> <m:dispdef> <m:lmargin m:val="0"> <m:rmargin m:val="0"> <m:defjc m:val="centerGroup"> <m:wrapindent m:val="1440"> <m:intlim m:val="subSup"> <m:narylim m:val="undOvr"> </m:narylim></m:intlim> </m:wrapindent> The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on-Robert Bloch. If you have not managed even the slightest smile upon reading the first statement you will probably find this article helpful. Funny quotes offer a great way to liven up that gloomy and sad mood we all carry at some point. It might be your fussy boss, the traffic build up responsible for you reporting late to work despite waking up at 5.00 a.m or it might be one of those days when you just don’t find anything amusing.</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>
<m:smallfrac m:val="off"><m:dispdef><m:lmargin m:val="0"><m:rmargin m:val="0"><m:defjc m:val="centerGroup">
Instead of having a long face throughout the day, why don’t you break the ice by locating a few funny quotes?
One of the best ways to use funny quotes to cheer up yourself is to read them out loud. Most people tend to read funny quotes silently in their head and fail to get the gist of the quotes. It is therefore better if you could start reading the funny quotes loud. This will help you to drift away from the reasons making you poignant to the funny words in the funny quotes. You can pick a selection from your favorite authors and see if your mood will lighten up almost immediately.</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>
<m:smallfrac m:val="off"><m:dispdef><m:lmargin m:val="0"><m:rmargin m:val="0"><m:defjc m:val="centerGroup">
Ever considered humming some of the famous quotes? As weird as it may sound, it may work quite well. For instance, consider this funny quote by the first president Jomo Kenyatta “When the missionaries came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They taught us to pray with our eyes closed. When we opened then, we had the Bible in our hand, and they had the land.” You could hum any of your favorite funny quotes as you go about your day’s tasks. This will help to take away the sad feelings as you mind drifts away from the depressing thoughts.</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>
<m:smallfrac m:val="off"><m:dispdef><m:lmargin m:val="0"><m:rmargin m:val="0"><m:defjc m:val="centerGroup">
Further still, you can still consider creating a funny quotes book. This way, you can jot down any funny quote you come across on this book. Thus anytime you are feeling low, you could take out the book and read the quotes out loud or even hum them.
</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>
<m:smallfrac m:val="off"><m:dispdef><m:lmargin m:val="0"><m:rmargin m:val="0"><m:defjc m:val="centerGroup">Funny Kenyan quotes
Kenya is a rich country. And stuff happens in Kenya. I mean you will not believe the kind of people that is Kenyans. Politicians top the list. They make comments that leave you wondering, what was this guy thinking. </m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>

<m:smallfrac m:val="off"><m:dispdef><m:lmargin m:val="0"><m:rmargin m:val="0"><m:defjc m:val="centerGroup">Sample this;
A famous Kenyan politician once said (after visiting Kibera and seeing people sleeping on the floor)
“nirieda kibera nikakuta watu wanarara duniani”!
Kenyans. I saw this one on Facebook
</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>

“mbwa wenu ni wa God mpaka mwizi akicome kwa hao yenu kuiba anamshow "iba tu lakini mungu anakuona"

And this one;

Wewe ni mjinga hadi unafail blood test

What about this?

‘nyumba yenu ni ya grass. wezi wakikam wanasema fungua mlango ama tuite ng'ombe’

This list can go on and on… I can’t end it without another one from our ‘beloved’ politicians. It is said that one Ukambani politician was welcoming a president to his constituency and he went like;

‘hayati mtukufu moi, wanawake hawa wote matako yao ni maji '

Someone also said on national television; sikusema weka tyre. Nilisema weka tyre gari iende...

The advancement of Kenya’s taxation revenue can be attributed to its foundation in 1995. Thanks to KRA, taxation revenue is today managed via organized administration and collection practices.
Not only taking charge of taxes but also the nation’s revenue, KRA carries out its duties in five departments each headed by an official commissioner. These departments include domestic taxes, road transport, support services, custom services and investigation department.
The custom services department is the largest and oversees the collection of income generated from import duties as well as value added taxes (VAT) imposed on imports. Levies, transit tolls as well as air passenger services are also managed under this department. The domestic taxes department on the other hand handles income taxes and VAT on domestic goods. Employers are therefore expected to withhold the income tax for employees for every pay cycle then remit to KRA. VAT is applied on goods at the manufacturing level and consumer level as well.
The road transport department handles the different licensing and registration requirements for both drivers and vehicles. Apart from the domestic licensing fees, the department also handles levies, duties, fees and taxes charged on imported goods. All customs and tax investigations are handled by the investigations and enforcement department.
Such issues as fraud, tax evasion, improperly registered vehicles as well as illegal import documentation are addresses in this department.
