Thiruvananthapuram,Thursday, 02 September 2010: The Self-financing Medical college management on Thursday decided to increase the fees in government quota, after reaching an agreement with the State government.
As per the order, from the current academic session Rs.1,38,000 would be charged for the MBBS courses.

As per the seat-fee agreement there wouldn’t be any concession for financially backward students. The three- tier fee structure has been completely exempted and it would be the same fee for the whole of the 50% seats in the self-financing colleges.

Earlier report

An agreement has been taken to accept option registration for admissions to Self-Financing Medical Colleges. The decision was taken during the talks held between the government and Self-Financing Medical Colleges Association here on Thursday.

The agreement was reached in talks that Education Minister MA Baby and Health Minister PK Sreemathy had with the Self-Financing Medical Colleges Association. The government would publish an order to this effect.

Self-Financing Medical Colleges Association representatives said that the deal has been reached considering the future of the students and the deadline set by the Medical Council. Admissions and allotments will be conducted after September 13, when a final order from the apex court is expected.

Another round of talks would be held between both the parties on 14th, in which decisions on all matters including the fee structure would be reached.

Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, 02 September 2010: The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court, here, on Thursday posted to September 23rd, the hearing regarding the allegation that the chemical examination report in the Sister Abhaya murder case was tampered with. The case has been deferred by Chief Judicial Magistrate Cheriyan Vargheese.

The final hearing regarding the charge sheet to be filed against Chief Chemical examiner R. Geetha and Analyst M. Chithra, the staff of Chemical Examination Laboratory would be considered by the Court on the new date.

Earlier report

A report in 2007 stated that the original chemical examination report of the vaginal swab and vaginal smear of Abhaya has been found to be tampered with. The manuscript of the workbook report from the Chemical Examination Laboratory shows over-writing at four places. Using a whitener and different ink, the word “not” has been added to the word “detected”, so as to contradict the result for testing semen detection in vagina. Varghese P Thomas, who was the first to point to murder, said the post mortem and lab reports had ruled out rape, leaving no scope for suspicions on the veracity of the report.

A copy of the “tampered” work register was leaked to the media following which several news reports suggesting foul play in the sensational case appeared in the press. Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Soman took cognizance of the serious nature of the reports and ordered the police to seize the original copy of the work register.

CBI had later investigated the register tampering case.

Coimbatore, Thursday, 02 September 2010: State Forest Minister Binoy Viswam today said that Kerala wanted a solution to the long pending Mullaperiyar dam issue and political leaders should not precipitate the matter with their statements.

“People of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are like brothers and sisters. When there is in issue between brothers and sisters, it should be discussed only in brotherly manner. That is what we expect,” he told reporters here. He was reacting to a question on MDMK leader Vaiko’s remarks that Kerala would not get vegetables and other commodities from Tamil Nadu if the state was deprived of water from Mullaperiyar dam.

Kerala’s decision to construct a new dam in place of the existing one would only “break the wall” of national integration and create unrest in both states, Vaiko had said. Stating that the needs and sentiments of people of both states were important, Viswam said that Kerala did not want to create a big issue out of Mullaperiyar.

According to a scientific study report, the dam was not safe and lives of over five lakh people were under threat. “So a solution is a must and we look for an alternate measure.” “People and Tamil Nadu Government will understand the problem, since Kerala is not an enemy of Tamil Nadu.”

Kerala government had already finished laying a solar fencing on a 10 KM stretch on the railway track on Tamil Nadu-Kerala border on its side, and works were in progress in another 25 KM, to prevent elephants from crossing on to the track and hit by trains. He said though Kerala had approached the Centre for this purpose, there was no response. Kerala was willing to work with Tamil Nadu for completing the solar fencing on its side, to check the fatalities, he added.

Ernakulam, Thursday, 02 September 2010: The State police probing the savage attack on T.J Joseph, Lecturer of Newman College, Thodupuzha, today, in an affidavit filed in the High Court made it clear that there were altogether fifty one accused were involved in the case. The counter affidavit has been filed opposing the granting of bail to six accused involved in the crime.

The police mentioned in the affidavit that the fifth accused Nazar was the main conspirator behind the attack and that the plotting had taken place in Perumbavoor. Several groups had been rendering medical and legal aid for the accused. The twenty-two arrested also enlisted the two of the seven, who had direct involvement in the crime, says the declaration.

Elucidating the police stance against the Popular Front of India (PFI), the counter-affidavit said that both the District and State Committee of the party were involved in the hand chopping case.
China, September 02, 2010: China has rejected reports of the presence of upto 11,000 of its troops in the Gilgit area of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), saying that such “groundless” reports were being put out with “ulterior motives” to hurt Beijing’s ties with New Delhi and Islamabad.

“We believe the attempts of some people to fabricate stories to provoke China-Pakistan or China-India relations are doomed to fail,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu in a brief statement late Wednesday night.

The comment came in response to a report in the New York Times (NYT) on August 28 that China had deployed more than 10,000 troops in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.

The text of the statement was not available on the Foreign Ministry website. China is issuing stapled visas to those travelling to the country from the Jammu and Kashmir region, on the ground that it was “disputed” and had declined to give visa to Indian Army’s Northern Command chief, Lt. Gen. B S Jaswal to join a military delegation for a high-level visit.

The visa denial to the General prompted India to put off all military exchanges with China in protest until the issue gets resolved.

The denial of Chinese troops presence came from Pakistan Ambassador to China, Masood Khan on Wednesday, who while refusing reports said that ‘a humanitarian team’ from China is present in the Gilgit area to assist the flood victims.

“The story is not true and totally fabricated,” he told a newspaper.

Khan said there are no Chinese troops in the area, but a humanitarian team from China is currently there to carry out relief operations.

A report attributed the military presence to China’s plans to gain a “grip on the strategic area to ensure unfettered road and rail access to the Gulf through Pakistan.”

If you do wish to get back a part of yourself that you did lose, how can you get it back? Chances are you have probably attempted getting it back, but could not stick to it and ended up giving up and feeling worse about it.

Have you reached a point in your life where you now look at yourself, yet do not recognize who you are? Do you feel like you have lost yourself, not looking the way you used to, or not acting and doing the things the way you used to do? Do not give up on yourself just yet! There are many reasons to why people let themselves go and you are not alone when it comes to this topic. In fact, the majority of people feel that they have lost themselves in one way or another. While this may be a fact, it is also a fact that you can re-discover yourself and find the person you feel you have lost.Explore yourself.

Before you rediscover yourself, you must research and take notes on yourself, finding out what exactly it is you have lost about your persona. Is it the way you used to look? Or the activities you once took part of? No matter what it is, you must target what that thing or things are. Once you have accomplished that assignment, you should then turn your focus on what you believe is the cause of you partial loss of yourself. When did this losing yourself take place? Was it after you got involved in a relationship? After you got married? Perhaps after you started a new job somewhere? Learning about when and what caused you to let yourself go will play the main role in leading you to re-discovering yourself.

Acknowledging that there is something missing and what caused its disappearance is the biggest step, not to mention the most important. Without the acknowledgment, you would still be clueless! It is very common for people to replace their feelings of losing themselves with thoughts telling them that they did not lose themselves, but they just changed. Get in close touch with yourself and make sure you are clear about whether you really have changed, or if you are just in denial. Feel it is difficult to detect the difference? Do not give up!

If you unsure about it, do not give up, but just go back a few steps. Go back a few steps to the place where you pin pointed exactly what it is about you that you feel you lost. When you get there, ask yourself if the loss actually bothers you. If it is something you think about often, wishing that you could be that way again but cannot seem to get there, then you are definitely in need of re-discovery. If you feel that it is something you used to do, but is simply a past version of yourself, then you are fine and should just let it go and concentrate on moving on with your present life.

If you do wish to get back a part of yourself that you did lose, how can you get it back? Chances are you have probably attempted getting it back, but could not stick to it and ended up giving up and feeling worse about it. What you need to do is rate the importance of this and put it on your highest priority list. Make it a daily habit to report to yourself and see what you have done daily to take a step forward into gaining that part of you back. Keep a daily journal and write down your thoughts on it, what you plan to do about it, and how it goes. Be sure to also write down a reminder to yourself everyday about how much you wish to get this part of you back. Reminding yourself about on a constant note will help you gain the strength and confidence to push yourself harder to getting, because you believe more and more that you can do- and nothing will stop you.

The truth is, you never really lost yourself, you just neglected apart of you that is now demanding attention again. Throw all of your excuses out the window and start facing the facts in front of you. There is nothing or no one in this world who should drive you to neglect a part of yourself. You know that it takes balance and organization to maintain the other things in your life like relationships, work, friendships, family life and so on, so what makes you any different?

If you want to continue being the person you always were, as well as adding new wonderful things to your personal being, then you need be organized. This means making time to invest attention and effort to all angles of your personal being and the things around you, as well as the people that share an important part of your life. By organizing your time, you will soon see how your life and views about yourself wonderfully get back into shape, and you will not only re-discover yourself, but discover a new side and strength that will open more opportunities for you!

Bangalore, Thursday, 02 September 2010: A local Court on Thursday deferred the hearing on PDP Chairman Abdul Nazer Maudani’s bail plea to 6th of this month, in connection with the 2008 Bangalore serial blast case. When the bail application came up before Fifth Fast Track Court (FTC) Judge Shrikant Watawati, the Special Public Prosecutor Rudraswamy filed his objections, following which the plea was posted to Monday for final hearing

At the same time the prosecution in an affidavit filed today revealed that Maudani’s involvement in plotting the case is now clear. The prosecution also stated that this had been revealed in a detail interrogation of the accused.

The Karnataka police, however, opposed granting bail to Maudani at this stage stating that it would adversely affect the investigation.

Maudani who had been arrested from Kollam on August 17th was remanded to judicial custody till September 7 on August 26.

Drinking lots of water can really cause weight loss. There are a number of reasons why drinking an adequate quantity of water is absolutely essential if one is really interested in burning additional calories and achieving weight loss. The process of weight loss needs an adequate supply of water so that it can function in an efficient manner. Lack of hydration only slows down the process of fat burning. Let us have a look at how drinking of water helps the process of weight loss both directly and indirectly.

When calories are burnt inside your body, the process leads to the creation of toxins. It is water that helps in flushing the toxins out of your body. Lack of water causes a reduction in the volume of blood volume which, in turn, reduces the supply of oxygen to your muscles. A fall in oxygen supply to your muscles results in lethargy.

Among many types of metabolism taking place in your body, one that plays a key role in weight loss is the metabolism of fat. Your liver does it by converting accumulated fat into energy. But the liver also has to pick up the slack for the kidneys for which plenty of water to work is required. If the kidneys go without sufficient amount of water, the liver has to perform their tasks along with its own which affects its total productivity. It slows down the metabolism of fat as quickly as a result of which fat gets stored.

You should eat fiber-rich food for achieving weight loss. But although fiber usually improves your digestive system, it can also result in constipation in the absence of an adequate quantity of water. Drinking lots of water also make you feel fuller and reduces the pangs of your hunger. This results in eating less and gaining fewer calories. However, your body needs not just drinking water but other items also for not feeling hungry.

Drinking water can also boost your muscle tone by increasing the capability of muscles to contract and lubricates your joints. An appropriate level of hydration can help reduce muscle and joint soreness when exercising for weight loss.

The quantity of water you should drink for weight loss depends on your weight, level of activity, the temperature and humidity of your environment, and your diet. Many experts, however, recommend eight 8-oz glasses of water everyday. The diet comes into play as you would need less quantity of water if you eat plenty of water-dense foods like fruits and vegetables.

Although you can use other methods, nature can help you know the right quantity of water you should drink. If you drink sufficient amount of water, your urine will usually be pale yellow. This may be due to the use of vitamin supplements and antibiotics also. On the other hand, you don’t have to rush to the loo too frequently. When in doubt, just drink a little more. There should be no worry about having a bloated look as a result of drinking too much water. Water retention occurs because of a number of factors, including consumption of excessive salt. Drinking water does not lead to water retention.

Although other liquids can supply water to your body, diuretics like caffeinated drinks cause your body to expel water. So when you use diuretics, drink more water to compensate. Drinking water before, while and after alcohol consumption is also helpful. All in all, drinking water plays a big role in weight loss in various ways.
