Rejoice Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors!

Definitely you guys had downloaded the 10 Gameboy Advance games that was available on Friday 16th. I'm just gonna write some short review on those games but more in a sense of how I felt connected to the games.

First Game on the list:
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity

This game personally I have played it, but upon trying it out on the 3DS, it feels kinda cool. I tried racing in one of the track and it felt like racing in futuristic high speed kinda race.

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island

I played this on an emulator and it was the SNES version. The graphic in this game is amazing, the art style really suit the game. Basically it's a platformer with a twist where you can shoot the egg with Yoshi after it eats the enemy. BTW, don't let baby mario fly away because the cry is annoying as hell.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

I haven't try this out but I believe that it is the second in the series to be released out of Japan. I have played the first game and I believe that the game is going to be similar. The gameplay is awesome and the storyline is engaging but at one point, it might be hard not to let anyone die during each mission.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

Oh Kirby, you cute little pink ball, or is it Jigglypuff? Anyway, this is similar to previous versions of Kirby where you suck up the enemy and consume their power to progress through the game. The difference? 4 Kirbys!

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

This is similar to the mario kart on the SNES. And it is kinda weird that Nintendo offered 2 racing games for the GBA Ambassador program. Is it because they didn't give any racing game in their NES list.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong

Personally, I'm not a big fan of this game. It's a puzzle that requires reflex and platforming skills which I personally do not have. Sad.

Metroid Fusion

This game is one of the best on the list. This game is a bit different from the previous Metroid game due to it being kinda linear in the beginning but none the less, this game is awesome.

Wario Land 4

This is a replacement of Mario. Really cool as the controls are expanded from the normal Mario games. And the exploration to collect the treasure and CDs are really a nice touch. Love it, third best game in the list for me.

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames

Uses the concept of 5 second mini games, this game will definitely get you hooked and test your reflexes. Even my girlfriend, Jes was playing it non stop. Cool.

and last but not least
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

Basically this whole post was a build up to this game. This was the game that I was hunting for years after I have gotten my Gameboy Advance. But was to no avail due to the fact that GBA games are mostly fake when it is sold in Malaysia. Even after looking up on Amazon, the price of the game even without the box and manual was to costly. But finally, I got this game even though for a virtual copy, it's good enough. The best game that has been given by Nintendo in their Ambassador program and one of the best Christmas present ever.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (Android) Review

Alright, time for a review! This time I'm gonna review Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for the Android. Since I'm running this game on HTC Sensation, I'm gonna base this review on that phone. There might be some resolution and loading time differences on different model of phone that you use to play this game.

Presentation

On the graphic side, this game really amazes me. It may not be vibrant as games like Asphalt 6 Adrenaline but the approach that EA went with this game is more realism. The detail on the cars are awesome. I zoomed in on the cars like Ford GT and the grills are still gorgeous and does not pixelate. Even the presentation on the tracks is detailed, the trees and the background are so detailed. The developer has definitely put the effort in this game to make it look beautiful.

Gameplay

The controls of this game, you can either love it or hate it. I'm some sort of the middle. It feels really weird for me to play a racing game without pressing buttons or analogue stick. Of course the control scheme are similar of other racing games on touch screen devices. It uses accelerometer to steer and by touching the left portion of the screen, you brake. You can activate the Nitrous by sliding your finger upward and by sliding downward while turning hard will allow you to do a handbrake turn. Of course there are trick under your sleeve whether you're a racer or a cop. Racer can activate jammer, oil slick and also overdrive to overcome the cops and the cops can stop the racer by using spikestrip, EMP and roadblock.

The detail on the track and the car is good for a mobile racer

Sound

The roar of the engine of each car are distinguishable between all the cars available in the car. Talking about cars, there are total of 20 cars in the game and 10 of them are the same for both racer and cops. The sound of vacuum machine of RX-8 to the sound similar to F1 of Zonda Cinque are recognizable in this game. And the soundtrack of this game is similar to the console's, so I guess it is a plus point. But sadly the intro song by 30 Second to Mars is absent in this version.

Overall

As a whole, this game is a solid racing entry to the mobile platform. Every aspect in this game is polished and the game is really fun to play.

Extinction does not kill the spirit of Mastodon

So I got my hands on "Mastodon: Live at the Aragon" (figuratively) and been listening to the concert DVD for the part in Crack the Skye album. And all I have to say is, it is effin phenomenal. Crack the Skye is Mastodon's fourth album and it is, in my opinion the cleanest of the four.

One of the most gorgeous looking album cover ever.

Now, the content of the concert might be lacking compared to "Beside You in Time" by Nine Inch Nails but I'd say that it is an awesome job of Mastodon for their first live album.

As you can see in the menu, it has four basic option of playing the concert, choosing the song, audio set up and Crack the Skye: The Movie which is the same movie that is played in the background when they play the concert.

The track list of the concert is basically all the songs that are contained in Crack the Skye album and in their proper arrangement as well which is awesome as the flow of the songs is not disrupted. They also play a song each from each of their previous album. They even play Circle of Cysquatch from their Blood Mountain album.

But of course, the main highlight for me was the epic 10 minutes and 13 minutes long "The Czar" and "The Last Baron" from their Crack the Skye album. Kudos to them for being able to perform it live.

As everyone might know, I'm a sucker for Nintendo. Seriously... I own a Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DSi and a Wii. I've played nearly every version of Super Mario, Legend of Zelda and Metroid out there. And nearly every product of Nintendo amazes me with their innovation and gameplay but of course they lack in their graphics department.

Now, the main reason I bought myself a Nintendo DSi is to play Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. This game is the successor to the much acclaimed turned based strategy, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the Game Boy Advance. I even asked my dad's friend to get the FFTA2 when getting the DSi. But what I got was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle: Echoes of Time which is a dungeon crawler.

So after a year of having the DSi, I thought why not just hunt it on the internet. And I found one on an online store called Gameyea. And it was only $21 which was too good to be true. Of course following my urges, i bought it and have it mailed to my house. After coming back from Sarawak, with all hopes high I went to my study table to find my parcel sitting quietly there. I tore the envelope and the packaging to find...

Hey, at least the title is right, right?

Well, if you've been buying original DS games, you definitely know that the casing for the game is black, which is a contrast to the picture above as the game is in a white casing. And the casing was thicker compared to the normal casing and the printing on the game cover was in faded color as well.

The disappointment contained.

So I opened the casing hoping to find all the crap that is normally in the original one. But all that contained in the casing was just a so called manual and the game cartridge. Normally there will be a slip for the nintendo club code, a health precaution manual, a wifi manual and the game manual itself. But all that is in here is just A manual. Just A MANUAL.

I tried to read the manual but after a few pages I realised that it is just a copy and paste from someone's review from the video game review site Gamespot. Even at the bottom right of each picture has a Gamespot watermark. Weird.

Then I took the cartridge out of the holder and turning it around. The circuit board is kinda weird and there is no proper random number printing like other cartridge that I have. In fact, there is only one number printed on the board. And also the laser printing on the back of the cartridge is weird as the Zeroes (0) does not have a dot in the middle of it.

There are no dots in my Os.

Well, since all the clues does pointed out that the game is a fake, I might just as well boot it up. Inserting the cartridge into slot was kinda hard as it was not smooth like always. So I booted up and ...

Hey, It might just work...

Yeap, 2010 was kinda dead year for my blog. Pathetic 3 post for the whole year including this?! I guess my attention span has dropped drastically. I can't even pick up Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and play it for more than 30 minutes. And finally today after having if for a year, I manage to finish Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time for the Nintendo DS.

And then there is the unbuilt Gundams. I mean the MG Blue Frame that I bought a year ago is still in the box. This is just the progress of it. I mean literally, I just build the foot of my most anticipated Gundam in my life and left the bloody kit in the box. Just the bloody foot!

So we come back to the issue. Why I'm loosing my concentration on something? I guess I have to blame my age for it and also my forgetfulness, and my age. Did I already said age?

What will become of this blog? This is something that I can't answer for sure. But one thing for sure, changes. It might not be the exploding type, subtle changes here and there. And I got the feeling that it will be more of me ranting bout this and that. And since my blog is like a mix pile of junk, you can't really expect anything. Even this blog post just came out of nowhere. Not that kind of "came". But it is NOW HERE ain't it?

Reasons why I'm NOT hyped about Transformers 3

No, seriously, I don't. It's not that I hate transformers or something. The first movie was okay, and when the second movie came out and I read some of the review, I was kinda skeptical. The main question that was running through my mind was, "Is it really that bad?".

I mean people don't just drop the title Worst Movie of the Decade on a box office movie that grossed 16 mil on it's opening night. It's like your telling someone that Einstein is a bloody idiot for creating the formula e=mc^2 eventhough 70% of modern era physic formulas are derived from it.

Now coming back to the reason why I'm posting this. First reason would be you are paying your money for a two hours advertisement for General Motors. Seriously. All the lead Autobots, in fact all autobots vehicle counterpart is based from GM vehicles. I may sound like a whiny true blue fan of the G1 transformers but why can't they just let the vehicle counterpart to at least look how they look like in the animations? You may say there was a Decepticon Audi in the second movie but it didn't even get 5 seconds of screen time and was sliced into half (was it a method of advertising for GM as well).

The second reason would be the whole plot itself. I mean the whole plot is definitely written by a lunatic or something. There's so much contradiction. In the second movie it was mentioned that all Primes was killed by the Fallen. So how you gonna explain about Optimus's dad appearance in the third movie unless of course this movie is the prequel of the second movie.

You might be saying, "Owh shut up, we're paying to see the graphics!". Well, I would be more than happy to take that money and buy a bottle of beer and drink it while watching the grass grow and I bet I will get more entertainment than watching robot transform to cars for the third time in my life. Seriously, the reason why most of you guys was so happy after coming out from the theater hall from 149 minutes of rubbish is because something in your pants was happy because of Megan Fox. And that is just plain dumb.

Well, I bet the movie is going to do great in sales, and get hammered by the critics. But at least it's the last in the series and thank God for that!

Since you have wasted some of your time reading this, why don't you watch the G1 opening for the fun of it.

MG MBF-P03R Blue Frame Astray Second Revise Part I : Feet

This was one of the model kit that I wish it would get a Master Grade treatment. The 1/100 NG Blue Frame Second L was released back in 2004 and after 5 years of waiting, Bandai finally granted my wish. I have helped my friend build the limited edition Red Frame Second L so that was one of my first experience in building gundam. Since then, this model was one of my top list to buy.

But after getting it, I have no idea why I seem to lost the mood in building gundam, maybe because of my final exam a few weeks ago. So finally this morning I motivated myself to build this guy and I only manage to build his feet -_-|||

So, I will review the feet with the photos that I have taken.

The "high heels" ... Got more detail than the NG version.

The back view, the Armor Schneider is now obvious because of the silver paint.

The only articulation for the foot. No more slipper action i guess.

As you guys may have know, I am really in Gunplas. With the current project which is the MG Exia stuck halfway, I can't seem to make a review for that yet. For that, I am sorry.

So for this post, I am gonna post something about my gaming side. One of the most epic game that I have played is Super Metroid for the SNES. Undeniably it is one of the most epic game that I have played in my life. The storyline is immense that pulls the player in. With multiple power up in your disposal, definitely it can be considered as one of the best game of all time.

One of the best game title ever

As a retro gamer, it tends to be hard for me to accept new games in my favorite games to play. But this specific game has shown to me that there are good game nowadays as well. And the game that I am going to talk today is Crysis by Crytek. There is only one word that can describe this game: UBER.

Shooting aliens is COOL

The gameplay can be considered revolutionizing in my opinion as the nanosuit mode change does make into strategy. Open ended level allows you to tackle the mission from different angle. The plot change in the middle of the game can be considered as one of the best twist in a game plot ever.

Words from Marilyn Manson is definitely true. What kind of rubbish is currently being played on radios these days?

Singles that being played on the mainstream radios are songs that lyrics can be made up when the artist is crapping in the toilet. Seriously, how can a song that repeatedly singing about numbers in two languages can be on the charts? And younger generations are in to it?!

I know that there shitty rock bands and song out there that only screams about devil worshiping and murdering religious icons. And there are mainstream bands that only wants to make money by making songs so catchy or so emo that fan girls bow to their feet.

But nothing, seriously nothing come close to the beauty and sophistication of rock music. You just have to find the right stuffs. One of the method is to find bands that are "fresh". They are new in the industry and they tend to experiment with their music as they are not making music for the money.

And then there are the veteran group where they are not interested in money but getting their message to their fans. Whatever it is rock music ROCKS my life.

PS: T-Pain you freaking auto-tune and Linkin Park; I USED to love you guys. Go suck some balls.

HGUC RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] - Part 4 (Finale)

This is definitely the last and finale of the review for the HGUC Hazel Custom. For this part, I will cover the backpack, the booster shield and the poses that you can pull of from this bad boy.

The backpack for this guy is not as elaborate as most of the backpack of other main character gundam from the series (especially compared to those of Strike Freedom and Gundam Wing). Heck, it only holds on beam saber. It has a cool sliding mechanism so that you can pull the backpack back so that you can attach the booster shield to the back.

Without the backpack; it looks kinda awkward as the shoulder bulges to the back.

Attaching the backpack to this guy adds a little depth to him

Now moving on to the booster shield. Now, this shield can be mounted on the arm of the gundam to replace the normal shield. Even on the construction manual shows the Hazel custom with the booster sheild. But since i have the philosophy of only build what that can be attached on the Gundam itself and I build the regular shield; so where do i put the booster sheild you ask? on the backpack of course. The design of the Hazel custom is similar to the advanced Hazel and since it is; the accessories of both kits are interchangable and I've seen on the net that you are able to attach 3 booster shields on the Hazel Custom 0_0.

Very simple build for the booster shield. Again, all the small yellow parts are molded individually

HGUC RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] - Part 3

Third part of this kit review.
Before I begin, I would like to ask a favor to those who visit this blog.

and 2. please leave a comment, a hi would do so that I know that there is someone out there that is reading this.

Okay, continue with the review. Up till this point, I can say that I am impressed with most of the kit but there are some flaws. Mostly is the color for the small parts. Bandai should learn somethings from Kotobukiya as not everyone is having all the shades of color markers and we are not building kits professionally and painting it using the airbrush. So, please please please prepaint some of the small parts so that I don't have to bother painting it.

I love the design of the Hazel Custom cause of the leg design; it is totally radical and not the normal conventional design of most Gundam. But due to this design (and bulkiness), it hinders the movement of the leg and I was expecting it. But I didn't knew that it has the "sandal's gimmick" of the Astray Red frame. This add a little more posibility to this kit.

This is the best bend that I can pull off ...

As you can see, the side vent of the leg is painted and I was having a hell of a time painting it (with paint sticking to my finger); and sticking back to the leg itself. So I have to sand the part that got paint (as I am not good with scrapping the paint off with a knife) and repaint it a few times as the same crappy thing keeps happening to me >.<||| Moving on to the waist of this model, it is the usual like other kits. But the difference for this kit is that the groin region is a little bulging so it look as though this guy is having an erection ^^

The V symbol is painted as well.
Didn't have much trouble because only small amount of paint required.

As of this moment; this kit is my most favourite among HGs

Just look at it; even though the articulation of the leg is crap; but this guy is just too awesome!

HGUC RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] - Part 2

Continuing from where I left of, I will move on to the head of this kit. It's just the basic construction of all kinds of Gundam head so I see no differences to regular HGs. But since it has elaborated design, it contain quite a few number of parts.

Since the manual does not have the flow of Master Grade's and 00 HG's (or is it just this manual>?) the next step is to build the weapon for this unit which is the beam rifle and the shield. The beam rifle is cool but the downside is that there is no foil sticker for the scope on the beam rifle. The shield on the other hand is more detailed.

Oh ya; another minus point is that the rifle is molded in blue not gray as shown in the manual ... CURSE YOU BANDAI!

The arm has a very simple double joint but it does the work of producing a 180 degree bend. But the policap for the lower part that holds the hand causes the seamlines to leave a gap. So a solution that I did was cut a bit of it to reduce the gap. Not bothered to seal them though.

HGUC RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] - Part 1

***(Please skip this few paragraph except you're curious about my gundam background)***
Frankly, I have no real interest in HG Universal Century. I have no real interest in Universal Century to begin with. This is because I am the SEED generation. I must admit that after a while, i learned that SEED is the remake of Gundam 0079. And I stop watching gundam after mid way of SEED Destiny because we all know that was a total piece of junk. Not the mecha design but the storyline. I can go on for day why it was a piece of crap. And I won't even give childish remarks and tolerate your point of view.

The fact is that UC timeline was created in 1979 and that is 9 years before I was born. So frankly, the first Gundam show that I saw in my life was Wing and I don't understand the storyline one bit. I was just in the show watching some robot blasting each other. So basically, the first show that I really understood was Gundam Seed when I was 14. After a while then I started digging for the UC stuff (such as Zeta movies, and recently watching 0083).

Now, I saw the Hazel Custom a while back. I was shocked because it was the same one that was given as a gift for Dengeki Hobby a while back. Since Hazel Custom was one of my most favourite design of all time, I couldn't resist the temptation and got myself one for RM54.00 from Robot Master in Queensbay, Penang.

Now we may begin the review ^^

The content of this kit is a manual and three packs of runners. On the back box contains information of advance of Zeta gundams.

This kit only contain 4 runners ; A runner being the multicolored one. All is molded the year 2005 except for polycap which is 1999. This kit also come with one foil sticker sheet and and a clear sticker sheet.

For this part, I'm only gonna review the torso. The torso only contains 4 polycap joints ; one being the neck joint; 2 for the peg joints for the arms and one for the lower part of the torso.

After assembling the torso of the gundam, I have to say that I have to salute to Bandai. Bandai have the balls to produce a kit that is a High grade and 95% accurate to the lineart. If I knew HGUC was this good, I might have started buying long time a go. I was like "Whoa!!" when I completed the torso
