I just came back from a weekend of life’s milestones. My great friend Bill Manley just got married to his long time girlfriend Nina. I am so happy for them and was truly honored to be along to witness their union. They are great for each other, and I truly wish them all the best. I was also lucky to be there for the baptism of his niece, which was another great ceremony. Thank you Manley family for your hospitality and openness.

To this day, my heart tightens when I think of what Kristen Nelson is going through. And I can’t stop feeling angry for all the lives that are lost over there. I can’t quite see the reason for all the blood v-being spilled. I understand the duty of soldiers to put their lives on the line. I just don’t understand the carelessness of some politicians to be sending them and keep them in foreign lands for questionable motives.

Richard “Ricky” Nelson’s widow, Kristen, cries with her parents in law Lennie and Susan Nelson during a memorial for her husband in front of Christian Life School, from where they both graduated. Nelson, 23, was killed by a roadside bomb. Hundreds of students joined family and friends to honor his memory.

The death of a Peace Officer always brings a sense of insecurity and lawlessness. If someone can attack those who we appoint and give extensive power to protect us, who can any one o us be safe?
