Rick Wylie, our CEO, as well as Duncan McCracken, one of our Senior Engineers recently spoke at the MacSysAdmin conference in Sweden.

Rick gave a great talk about IPv6 and how to implement it and Duncan used his experience from his own package creation company, Mondada, to recount some best practices for package creation and imaging. Both sessions received great feedback from the room as well as the twitter-verse!

If you have any interest in Mac or iOS Admin, there are some fantastic sessions that are all in English, with the slides and podcasts published on their site here:

Kerio have just announced version 1.1 of the Workspace product.

It’s a great system for working together in a team -

It can be used as a central information site about your business, or as a Project share – with links to other websites, media for the project (including video)

One of its more powerful features is the ability to get a daily update of all changes in a “Space” (if you’re used to being a member of a FaceBook Group, you know the idea), but this is for information about what’s changed in a project or info site recently.

It also provides access using a phone-optimised site to your data on the road and it has a great feature allowing you to “check out” documents, work on them on your computer, then when you save them, it’ll automatically upload the document back to the Workspace Server. You keep your documents on your own secure website, but can still work on them on your own computer too.

At the moment, Kerio is also offering a discount of 70% off Retail Pricing for existing Kerio Connect customers – so it’s a great time to implement the product without a huge outlay.

Lion is now available via the App Store, but if you own more than one machine, you probably don’t want to download the 3.74gig installer on each computer. Thankfully, its pretty easy to create a Lion Installer DVD, USB Thumb Drive or SD Card.

First, download the Installer via the App store, but don’t run the installer just yet! The Installer will “self destruct” if run immediately, and we need to make a copy.

Locate the installer in the finder:

And right click to show Package contents;

You’ll find a single folder inside called “Contents”. Navigate to Contents/SharedSupport/and select the InstallESD.dmg Disk Image.

Copy and Paste this image on to your desktop:

When it has finished copying, launch Disk Utility, located in your Utilities Folder within your Applications Folder.

You’ll be presented with a screen similar to this;

From the Menubar, select Scan Image For Restore…

Select the InstallESD.dmg from your desktop

You’ll be asked to enter your Admin password, then the Install disk will appear as an image to be restored, with the InstallESD.dmg appearing as the “source”.

Now, you can select any USB or SD Card larger than 3.74g as you “Destination” as above, and after hitting Restore, Disk Utility will reformat, erase, and create a Lion Installer on your drive. If you’d prefer a DVD installer, simply highlight the InstallESD.dmg image in the sidebar and click the radioactive “Burn” button in the top of the window.
