Kristin is one of the best shooters I've ever worked with, and I have worked with dozens and dozens all over the West Coast. As a agent represented SF print model, I can honestly say this photog is in my top five--no question. Her sensibility is laid back, simple, and sexy. I first worked with Kristin in the summer of 2002, after she found me on a photography/modeling website. I was an aspiring model with maybe two shoots under my belt. I was shy and inexperienced...yet she still wanted to set up a shoot together. I was so glad I took up the oppurtunity to work with her. Never had i felt so confident, comfortable and beautiful. She was always patient with me. She gave honest advice and feedback and genuinly wanted to help me advance in my modeling career. Needless to say, we've remained close ever since. I cant even count the number of shoots we have done together! Each one outshining the last. Kristin's work continues to evolve. Even when you think It cant get any better, it does! She has an eye for the beauty you dont even see in yourself...and it shows in all of her work. Brittany Markert and the Salon Sea "trip"...

So, after years of photographing people I've started putting together photo stories of the people I've worked with. With each shoot I meet new people and for a moment become a part of their story. Sharing a chapter with them. Everyone I meet is beautiful and interesting and so I will continue to share these as I have time between work and life. I have chosen to cover up any nudity because even though these people might have felt comfortable being nude and I love the human body, I do not feel the need to exploit anyone. I find there is nothing wrong with nudity but some get offended by a nipple, so I will keep the stories PG.

A few months ago I finally made a trip to go the Salton Sea. I have wanted to go there to shoot for years. If you don't know anything about the area it is a cool piece of disheveled land near Palm Springs.

Brittany is the model below. She found out when we got back that she got on to Americas Next Top Model.

Brittany is one of my favorite models I've worked with. She has an amazing down to earth personality, is always on time, has never flaked, and has the most incredible muscular body. She is a hidden gem that should be gracing the covers of sports illustrated and more very soon. I hope she moves to Miami and takes advantage of the market there. She is drama free, fun and you can't take a bad photo of her. She is one of those photogenic women that just doesn't have a bad angle. I'm glad I had the chance to work with her quite a few times.

Alexis Hutt

Alexis and I have worked together many times over the past year. She is a goofball, gorgeous, a tomboy, and deep. We connect on so many different levels. In every photo I've ever shot of her I've captured another side of her. She's a chameleon. As a photographer it is always nice to be inspired by who I'm shooting. I can always find something beautiful and interesting in someone. Alexis has an extra depth that no matter how many times I have photographed her, it is always a pleasure.

The first time we met, I photographed her near her mom's home up North. After a long day we went to dinner with her mom at one of my favorite places called "willy birds". It is such a strange dive. It is very 70's and almost everything they make is turkey. I love cranberry sauce... and turkey and cranberry sauce is one of the best combo's in the world. It was nice to meet her mom as well and see how much they care for each other.

The next time I shot with Alexis it was at a llama and pigmy goat farm up in Petaluma. There was really crazy energy all day, but we had a great time.

The next time I photographed Alexis it was for a clothing designer. We shot at a hotel and then at a bar next door.

This next shoot we first shot at my house with Tyler, who you can read more about in a blog below. Then we went up on Mt. Tam.

The next time we met up it was just Alexis and I. I met her at her apartment and then we went to Fort Pt. in San Francisco.

Then I shot Alexis and her boyfriend. They were really cute together.

The last time I shot Alexis was at my house and in my studio. Again, so inspiring and a chameleon.

Tyler + Nicole

I met Tyler a while ago and have done several shoots with him. He is funny, down to earth and we always had a great time. We had some deep conversations and one time we were talking about relationships and he told me a bit what he was looking for.

A few months later I photographed Nicole. We had a great day and definitely connected. She was natural, beautiful and seemed to have more goals in life than just modeling. Although she could definitely make a career from modeling. She's unique and gorgeous. I think she could get a ton of work in Europe.

I talked to Nicole about Tyler and she seemed interested but never brought it up again.

I tried to get them to email one another and it wasn't happening. So, I set up a shoot in Sonoma and had them both model for it. After the shoot, I took them to dinner and neither of them really ate. They just seemed nervous. It was really cute. Still, nothing happened. I knew they were interested in each other yet neither was making an effort.

So, I set up a shoot of just the two of them. I told them before hand that it would be very intimate and they would have to kiss and made sure they were okay with that. They both seemed pretty excited.

The day of that shoot they were both so cute and timid and kept giggling. After there first kiss on camera I said something to Nicole and she was so stunned and dreamy that she kind of snapped back and came to and said "what"? It was very cute.

After that shoot, even with all that chemistry, neither made the effort to contact the other one.

I took them out one more time after that, to a party in SF. We had a good time and that night they finally went out after and got some ice cream to share and have been together ever since. I guess I was right about them being a great match. They have been living between SF and LA together and seem perfect for each other. They are now with the same agency and have modeled together for a few different photographers.

The only sad thing to me is that after all of this effort I made in changing the course of their lives for the better, I have not seen either of them since that last time together. I was hurt for a while because I was still making effort to see both of them and neither made any time to make it happen.

It's been over two years and they are happily in love and I couldn't have wished for anything more for them. It's definitely been a learning experience for me about expectations. I expected we would stay close and they would be grateful for all that I had done for them, both personally and professionally. I thought that they would be supportive of me and my career, as well as the friendship we had made.

I will continue giving to others but I'm more wary about putting so much effort in to others endeavors.

I wish them well on their journey and glad that I could help to change their lives for the better and capture the story through my lens.

I think the entertainment industry can be a bit superficial, which is why, after 17 years playing drums in bands, I got out of that business. I thought the photography business would be different. However, I realized last year that I was giving so much to agencies and models , yet not getting much in return. I couldn't make a living doing free shoots every day to help others. So, I am strictly concentrating on work that will allow me to make a living shooting. My "model for the day shoots" give me so much! I love making others feel good and when I get feedback from my clients about how beautiful they feel, and how comfortable I make them, it is so rewarding. It doesn't hurt that it helps to pay the bills as well. I also love shooting musicians and bands. That was a huge part of my life for so long. I understand how important an image is for an artist.
