El Clásico, also known as El derbi español, is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Real Madrid leads Barcelona, 88 to 85 according to the official records. Madrid has scored 364 times while Barcelona has netted 351 times.

Despite the many overeager claims that he doesn't come through in the big matches, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the decisive 73rd-minute goal in Real Madrid's vital 2-1 win over Barcelona. He has now scored in four of Real Madrid's last five games against Barca (plus Real Madrid's extra-time winner against Barca in last season's Copa del Rey final) and his latest virtually seals the league title by extending Real's lead over Barcelona to seven points with four matches left to play.

According to the Soccer Power Index, Real Madrid has a 99.2 percent chance to win the league now, needing just 2 wins in their last 4 games to mathematically clinch La Liga

Madrid went ahead in the 18th after a pair of defensive errors by Barcelona. Goalkeeper Victor Valdes failed to hold on to a corner headed down by Karim Benzema and Carles Puyol was slow to clear, allowing the German midfielder Khedira to poke the ball across the goalline to silence the 99,252 fans.

Guardiola sent on Alexis in the 69th and one minute later the Chile striker tapped in a rebound of a shot by Adriano to give Barcelona some hope.

Here are some other points of note from Saturday's El Clasico:

• Real Madrid won its 14th league match on the road in 2011-12, tying the single-season record established by Barcelona last season. It's also the first time Jose Mourinho has ever won at the Nou Camp, in his 10th try.

• Barcelona lost at home for the first time in 55 matches across all competitions, since a September 2010 loss to Hercules. Barca also lost consecutive matches for the first time since May 2009, by which point its league title that season was already secured.

• Ronaldo's goal gives him a one-goal lead on Lionel Messi in the race for the scoring title, extending the single-season La Liga scoring record. The goal was his 42nd league goal this season, and his 54th across all competitions, both career highs. Real Madrid also set a single-season La Liga team scoring record with its 108th and 109th goals.

• Real Madrid completed 171 passes, its fewest in a La Liga/Champions League match over the last two seasons. Cristiano Ronaldo completed just two passes in the final third, tied for his fewest in a La Liga/Champions League match over the same time span.

• Real Madrid and Barcelona were stout in defense, making it nearly impossible for one another to pass the ball into the penalty area. Real Madrid and Barcelona completed just five and nine passes into the penalty area, respectively, the fewest this season for either team.

• Real Madrid avenged their 3-1 loss to Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu on Dec. 10. Only two teams have lost El Clasico at home and gone on to win La Liga -- Barcelona in 1928-29 and Real Madrid in 1975-76.

Astronauts finally get Internet access in space

In a high tech first — really, really high — astronauts in space finally have Internet access.

Space station resident Timothy (TJ) Creamer had been working with flight controllers to establish Internet access from his orbital post ever since he moved in last month. On Friday, his effort paid off. He posted the first live Twitter post truly from space.

"Hello Twitterverse!" he wrote. "We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station -- the 1st live tweet from Space! :) More soon, send your ?s"

Before, orbiting astronauts had to send such Twitter updates by e-mail to Mission Control in Houston. Then controllers posted the tweets.

The International Space Station crew can now use an on-board laptop to reach a desktop computer at Mission Control, and thereby browse the Web. This remote Internet access is possible whenever there is a solid high-speed communication link.

It's expected to provide a big morale boost.

"Long-duration astronauts, they commit to spending months away from family and friends. It's a pretty unique state of isolation," said NASA spokesman Kelly Humphries. "We expect this to enhance morale and productivity."

The astronauts will be subject to the same Internet access guidelines as other on-the-job government employees, namely no interfering with work.

Is NASA worried the astronauts might spend too much time online, more than 200 miles up?

"These are highly driven individuals," Humphries said with a chuckle, "so they're going to get their work done first."

The astronauts already had an Internet Protocol phone for private calls to family and friends.

Creamer is one month into a five-month mission. He is sharing the space station with another American, one Japanese and two Russians.

Survey: 40 percent in U.S. have no broadband

Most of us take broadband Internet availability for granted. But a new government survey in USA paints a different picture of the nation.
In a survey of more than 100,000 people in more than 50,000 households across the U.S., 40 percent reported no broadband or high-speed access to the Internet, while 30 percent said they have no Internet access at all.
Sponsored by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and conducted by the Census Bureau, the survey found that most of those interviewed said they either don’t need broadband or find it too expensive. Some said they have no computer, but many of those in rural areas reported that broadband is simply not available.

The report was compiled from data collected in October of last year through a special Internet Use Supplement, part of the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey. This marked the eighth Internet survey sponsored by the NTIA since the early 1990s. Information was collected from about 54,000 households and 129,000 citizens.
The NTIA said the U.S. Department of Commerce will offer a more detailed analysis of U.S. Internet access later this year as more data becomes available.

Up close with the Apple iPad

The new iPad launched by Apple. The device has a 9.7-inch LCD touch-screen display, which makes use of the same multitouch technology found on the iPhone, Apple's Magic Mouse, and the company's notebook trackpads. The iPad will also function as an e-reader, using Apple's new iBooks store, which will feature popular books as well as textbooks. The new app features a virtual bookshelf with content from all five major publishers: Harper Collins, Hachette, Penguin, Macmillan, and Simon & Shuster

Like the iPhone and iPod, it sports a finger-friendly OS with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard. The iPad is 0.5 inches thick and weighs 1.5 pounds. It sports a 9.7-inch IPS display, the same display used in the latest generation iMac.

The iPad has a fully capacitive multitouch screen. Its 1GHz custom Apple chip--called A4--is the company's most advanced. The processor, graphics, and i/o memory controller are combined on one chip. The device has many debating whether it's the best Apple product ever, or just a big iPhone (or both).

Panasonic has publicized a new line-up of “Let’s Go” notebooks and amongst them is a netbook “Let’s Note”, sporting the new Intel Core i7 processor. The netbook in question boasts of a 1.20GHz Intel Core i7-650UM vPro processor with a 10.4-inch (1024 x 768) display. Intel’s Atom chip is the standard stuff that is showing around all over as the driving CPU of the 10.1 inches netbooks these days like the Dell Mini and HP Mini, so to have a netbook with Core i7 is surely an amazing thing for this form factor.

Google Buzz – Yes another Social site for you

The web’s No. 1 search engine Google is planning for another app that will enhance its Web presence. Application called Google Buzz, the feature will pit it against social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Google Buzz will allow users to quickly share messages, Web links and photos with friends within its popular email service Gmail.
Google Buzz comes after the company’s several non-successful attempts to enhance its position in the warmly-contested social networking space.

As soon as Google Buzz service becomes active in a user’s Gmail account, they can find a tab for Buzz below their inbox. On clicking the tab, users can read status updates, photos and video. Buzz updates will also show up directly in user’s inbox as well as in a tab within Gmail.
According to Google, 40 people whom users talk to through Gmail and Gchat will be automatically added as friends.

Buzz will use the information from the already present email accounts of users to automatically show updates and media from people they talk to regularly. However, it will also allow users to share information privately if they want to.

Status messages that users publish on Google Buzz and flag as viewable to everyone will be automatically indexed by Google’s search engine and be available within Google’s recently launched real-time search results.

Google’s buzz also lets users publish their ideas to the world or just to their closest friends. This means each update can be set to either a small group of friends or to the entire world.
User’s private updates will be directed to Buzz followers while public updates will reflect on user’s Google Profile page only.

Lets see, how far this attempt of Google would be productive to give Google a name like Facebook and twitter in social media sites. Cheers!

Next Generation iPhone 4G leaked pictures

An iPhone repair site iResQ today after receiving some iPhone parts, claims that they are from the upcoming next-gen iPhone which is expected to be launched in summer this year. The interesting things which they found from this new iPhone 4G parts are as follows.

1) The LCD appears to be factory glued to the digitizer which is more similar to the first generation iPhones than the iPhone 3G and 3GS. The digitizer can be separated from the LCD on the 3G and 3GS models, which should be interesting to all, but for the repair folks like us–this means that the 4G screen repair price will be higher since both parts will have to be replaced at once.
2) The iPhone 4G front panel seems to be about 1/4? longer than its predecessors.
3) There is an interesting reflective, mirror-like surface directly above the speaker. This is likely a spot for the proximity sensor. If that’s what it is, it’s in a different location than previous models.

Next-gen iPhone is likely to be unveiled at this year. It is expected to feature a faster processor, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, camera on the front for video conferencing, support for WiFi-N standard and so on.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd launched the F3EG, the new high-performance environmental friendly HDD (hard disk drive) for the desktop systems.

Steve Han, Managing Director Samsung Electronics in Pakistan said,

Google introduces lewdness censor for YouTube

Google has introduced another “safety mode” for YouTube watchers that filters out smut / lewdness and other objectionable material, the company announced.

Users can opt in to the “safety mode”, which also automatically hides comments on any videos. If the user decides to view the comments, all objectionable words are censored by Google’s smut filter.

The web’s top video-sharing site has long banned pornography, gratuitous violence and animal abuse. But the new filter will target such images even if they occur within a legitimate context such as a news report, the company said in its blog Thursday.

As no filter is 100 percent perfect, ’safety mode’ is another step in our ongoing desire to give you greater control over the content you see on the web

Microsoft Windows 8 – July next year?

The marketing campaign of Microsoft for Windows 8 appears to have begun – the company briefly published a blog on msdn.com, and then took it down almost immediately. The blogger added that Windows 8 was “something completely different” from previous operating systems.

Rumours had surfaced last month that Windows 8, which is referred to in the blog post as Windows Next, would launch in July 2011.

Although the blog post reveals little detail, its brief appearance and subsequent deletion probably means that it will attract more attention than had it simply been published. Publicly, the company’s European head of Consumer and Online, John Mangelaars has said only that “Windows 8 will be mindblowing”.

Sales of Windows 7, launched in July last year, were behind a large part of Microsoft’s 60 per cent increase in quarterly profits for the end of 2009, but the company is likely to come under increasing pressure in coming months. Google’s Chrome OS and Apple’s iPad are likely to challenge Microsoft’s position on netbooks and high-end laptops respectively.

Surprisingly, Microsoft started selling PCs, Laptops, Netbooks, and Accessories along with other utilities and gadgets through its Microsoft Store.

Microsoft had said it would sell PCs at its brick-and-mortar stores, but it plans to open just two of those this year, including a Scottsdale, Ariz., location that opens later Thursday.

Early on Thursday, though, Microsoft revamped its online store, which had been an outlet only for Microsoft products. The restructure of the online store comes just as Microsoft launching Windows 7.
The revamped online store not only has Windows 7 for sale, but also a variety of machines running the new operating system, as well as other PC accessories and software from other vendors.

Among the software, Microsoft is selling Norton 360 and Adobe Photoshop, along with Windows, Office, and other Microsoft products. Accessories include a lot of Microsoft keyboards, mice, and Webcams, along with flash drives and blank DVDs from other companies.

Why & How it’s called Windows 7?

Same like you, I was also wondering, why the new windows announced by Microsoft is called so? Got the answer, and excitingly I wasn’t aware of any point before, let me count all windows from 1 to 7 here.

Before the announcement of Windows 7, Microsoft has already announced 6 windows to its users and all of them are public for us.

Windows 1:
It was released in November 1985 by Microsoft.

Windows 2.0:
Windows 2.0 was announced in October 1987 and an upgrade version 2.1 in May 1988.

Windows 3:
It was introduced with some what 32-bit capabilities, came to market in May 1990 and came into its own with version 3.1 in April 1992. It shipped as Windows NT 3.1 in July 1993 and was fully a 32-bit operating system. Windows NT 3.5 shipped in 1994.

Windows 4:
It was in public in 1995 as Windows 95, the first consumer version with pervasive 32-bit support. Windows 98 arrived in June 1998, and a second edition (Windows 98 SE) replaced it a year later. Windows Me (Millenium Edition) shipped in September 2000.

Windows 5:
Arrived in 2000 February, a replacement for NT 4.0, its Windows 2000, its consumer version is windows XP, we call it windows 5.1, was released to manufacturers in August 2001 and not available on the retail market until October.

Windows 6:
Windows 6 was named Windows Vista, released to manufacturers in November 2006, and reached the retail market in January 2007. Vista is also available in separate 64-bit editions. Windows Server 2008 (Feb. 2008) is another version of Window 6.

Now it’s Windows 7.

All the 50 seats in the crowded restaurant are made from toilet bowls. Dishes are served in mini toilet bowls and drinks in plastic urinals. Clients wash their hands and mouths using toilet rolls hung above their tables and dessert is chocolate ice cream in the shape of a turd. A small glass cabinet on the wall displays a wide range of feces-related toys that customers can buy as a souvenir to remind themselves of a special dining experience.

Qin, the manager said she wants to amuse her customers’ senses and make them forget their daily grind for just a moment while eating here.

“This is not traditional. It makes people happy and relaxes them. Older customers who come here also say that dining here makes them want to laugh. They say eating here is very comfortable,” Qin said.

The idea of combining excrement and food is nothing new. Toilet restaurants in Taiwan, New York and other places have proven to be successful for years.

Beijing’s toilet restaurant opened 18 months ago. Names of its specialties on the menu often make it difficult for customers to guess what exactly are in the dishes. The most often ordered one called “Our Famed Constipation” is made from deep fried potato.

The restaurant draws on young people, especially university students. The average price of each dish is around three to four U.S. dollars The affordable dining experiences at the restaurant have been keeping people coming back for more.

Al Gore – The ex-Vise President and Senator of United States of America is often misinterpreted as inventor of Internet, but that’s not the case actually. Al Gore, himself said that “I took Initiative in creating the internet” (Resources – CNN). And he promoted it being the VP and Senator of USA. Same as the connectivity advancement platform, “Satellites” were the cause of the Internet service. How? You will get the idea reading below.

1957, Soviet Union launched the 1^st man made satellite, Americans were shocked by the news. The cold war was at its peak at that time, USA and Soviet Union considered themselves as great enemies of each other, because, If Soviet Union had made it possible to launch a satellite, it could had launched a Missile in North America.

1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower (The 34^th President of USA) launched Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA) as the direct response to that 1^st man made satellite (Sputnik) launch. ARPA being the Research Agency also created an edge for USA over other Technology Advancing Countries. And the most interesting fact is that, ARPA had a mission in Computer Sciences.

Computers were huge machines in 1950’s that could easily fill the entire room and the processing speed of those Computers was fraction of what we are using now a days, but those were lacking the networking system, i.e. Networking wasn’t possible at that time.

But ARPA aimed to bring network system among the Computers in Order to exchange their Computer’s data. And seek help of Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN) Company for the Networking Issue. And ARPA along with BBN created the network of four Computers, which can easily share their data with each other. And they called that network as ARPANET. ARPANET then started creating network with other computers and from their, Internet gave birth to itself.

Without the launch of Man-made satellite, it wouldn’t be possible to build a networking system. Some how, Satellite testing was a reason behind the Invention of ARPA and Internet. It might have taken many years to invent Internet without that launches.

Non-Official Facebook Dislike button

An extra feature with comment was added by facebook on February i.e. “Like”, there was and still is a deficiency of “Dislike” button on the same place, many of the users on facebook don’t like some thing linked on his wall, but he/she can’t express that he/she disliked the particular thing there except commenting. A non-official button of “dislike” is introduced by French developer Thomas Moquet who took matters into his own hands by creating a cute (albeit useless) Firefox extension that adds a dislike button to Facebook, letting users who have it installed mark things they don’t like.

In order to make the tool work, Moquet had to use his own servers, which keep track of every item that’s disliked as well as who clicked it. Any other Facebook users who have the extension installed can then see who disliked it right next to the usual like list.

The problem here is that, if Miquet servers go down, then user won’t be able to see dislike button on his interface, and also if the other person don’t have the plugin installed on his firefox, he too won’t be able to see, who disliked the comment.

Two American Born Panda Arrived China

Two giant pandas arrived at their new China home Friday to find just what they’d left in the United States.

Both pandas have become appealing helpfulness ambassadors for China in the United States. Millions of people fell in love with 3-year-old Mei Lan from Zoo Atlantaand Tai Shan, a 4 1/2-year-old born in Washington, watching them grow up via online panda cams.

China has long used pandas as a friendly gesture in diplomacy, and they may be China’s most compelling ambassadors as the country clashes with the U.S. on many issues, including trade, human rights and Internet security.

Tai Shan’s departure gave diplomats a rare moment of harmony. Xie Feng, minister of the Chinese Embassy, said that they have grown up with the blessing, love and care of the American people.
The first panda couple at the National Zoo, Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing, arrived in 1972 as a gift to the U.S. people after President Richard Nixon’s historic visit. None of their five cubs survived. That’s partly why Tai Shan, the first cub to grow up in the U.S. capital, is so adored.

The young pandas will become part of a breeding program in their endangered species’ native land. About 1,600 giant pandas live in the wild, and another 290 are in captive-breeding programs worldwide, mainly in China.

Iran: We Need More, More and More

Yes! That’s not only a sentence, it’s a fact that Iran is aiming more and more as far as its military power is concerned. The latest “Longest Range Missile Test Launch” of Iran from the news papers of 28^th September 2009, ideally supports Iran’s aim.

Iran has successfully tested the longest range missiles in its arsenal, state media said.

Iran tested the Shahab – 3 and Sajjil rockets, which some how manage to cover the range upto 2000Km (1,240 Miles). And the most Interesting fact is that:

“The missiles’ range could potentially permit them to reach Israel and US bases in the Gulf, analysts say.”

The Shahab-3 (Meteor-3) is classed as a medium range ballistic missile but is the longest-range rocket Iran has successfully tested in public.

Iran says the missile, which it first tested in July 2008, can fly some 2,000km, but Western defence experts have put the strike range at 1,300km (807 miles).

The surface-to-surface Sajjil is a new, two-stage missile using solid fuel, which is considered to give a more accurate delivery than liquid fuel rockets.

It has been tested by Iran twice, in November 2008 and May 2009.

The whole “World of Power” is behind Iran because of its Nuclear Program. But Iran on the other side is showing no concern on the “Power’s Consensus”. Lets wait for the future, and watch What another History is Waiting to be Written in Red

Pakistan 1st National Anthem Was?

We learnt in our Schooling days that Pakistan’s National Anthem was 1^st broadcasted in 1950’s. The question arose in my mind, why it took 3 years to write a National Anthem although we got Independence in 1947. 1^st answer I got from my mind was:

Its possible because many Nations are still living without even a National Anthem, then why can’t we live without it just for three years.

But, one day on Internet, I was trying to search the history, and was amazed to find the 1^st National Anthem of Pakistan written by a Hindu and approved by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Amazing!

Jagannath Azad (1918-2004), son of Lahore-based renowned poet Tilok Chand Mahroom, was the person, who actually wrote the National Anthem of Pakistan in 1947.

Azad was commissioned by Jinnah to write the anthem three days before the creation of Pakistan in 1947.

Why him? Read the lines said by Azad below:

I asked my friends why Jinnah Sahib wanted me to write the anthem. They confided in me that “the Quaid wanted the anthem to be written by an Urdu-knowing Hindu.” Through this, I believe Jinnah Sahib wanted to sow the roots of secularism in a Pakistan.”

The lyrics of the 1^st National Anthem of Pakistan written by Azad were:

Ae sarzameene paak

Zarray teray haen aaj sitaaron se taabnaak

Roshan hai kehkashaan se kaheen aaj teri khaak

Ae sarzameene paak’

(‘Oh land of Pakistan, the stars themselves illuminate each particle of yours/rainbows brighten your very dust.’)

His devotion to Allama Iqbal has been intriguing for many. But then, he has himself said:

Merey yaqeen ko dekh amal par nazar na kar
Mera yaqeen heh daulat-eeman liye huey
Ahl-i-haram mujhey na hiqarat se dekhna
Kafir hun eik qalb-e-Musalman liye huey

The National Anthem Committee (NAC), formed in December 1948, took two years to finalise a new anthem, finally choosing NAC member Hafeez Jullundhri’s poem from among 723 submissions.

The anthem commissioned by Mr Jinnah was just one of his legacies that his successors rejected, along with the principles he stressed in his address to the Constituent Assembly on Aug 11, 1947 — his political will and testament according to his official biographer Hector Bolitho.

Samsung planning to sell its see-through laptop in a year

Samsung has planned to make the idea of transparent screen, forward to the market and are thinking to liberate the transparent AMOLED laptop at the end of this year. If that was not strange enough, they plan to create a separate category of devices having such screens and will be releasing some in a year’s time.

The laptop has a 14 inch AMOLED display. AMOLED screens are really catching up on the conventional screens. They are thinner and have much better color display while overwhelming smaller power. They are fairly common in high end phones these days which brag of grand video quality and high battery life. The AMOLED screen used in this device allows 40 percent of light to pass through the screen when it is turned off. After turning it on, you can see your desktop and functions and a great deal of what is happening behind your screen. The screen offers very sharp and bright images, but you may not want to see what’s taking place behind your screen.
That apart, this device has no practical use, or at least we don’t see one yet. It will let people see what you are doing on your laptop. What happened to privacy? Its usability in sunlight will almost be null because of the sharp light coming through. Imagine watching a movie where you are disturbed every second by the scene behind your laptop. As for now, we cannot think of any proper use of this notebook and we will have to wait and see if Samsung finds some before the release.
Samsung is also working on a transparent navigation system which will mount on the car’s windshield. This is the only proper use of this technology we have seen so far. This makes a lot of sense as it will help drivers to navigate with minimum disturbance.
