Fall Storytime Registration

Registration for our fall storytimes begins on Monday, September 12 for residents and Tuesday, September 13 for non-residents. Storytime sessions will run through December. Registration is required for all storytimes.

12-24 months, Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10:15 a.m.
24-36 months, Mondays at 10:15 a.m.
3-5 years, Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. or Fridays at 10:15 a.m.
2-5 years, Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m.

Summer Reading Wrap-up

We had a very busy summer at the library! Over 340 students registered for our summer reading program and all of our events were well attended. I hope everyone had lots of fun. Next year our reading theme is Dream Big- READ! Be ready for lots more summer fun in 2012. If you haven't picked up your reading certificate be sure to stop in and get it.

We need volunteers to help us with the Summer Reading Program.

Summer Reader Meeting & Training
Tuesday, June 14, 6:30-7:30 p.m.For students entering grades 5 & up. Volunteer to read to children at our weekly Friday morning storytimes during the summer.

Summer Volunteer
Wednesday, June 15, 3:00-4:00 p.m.For students entering grade 8 & up. Volunteers to commit to a 2 hour block of time and come in to help register participants, stamp log sheets, assist with in-house activities, and give out earned raffle tickets.

April Vacation

The Lego Club will meet on Sunday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. Students in grades 1-5 are welcome. We will read a story and you will have time to construct a Lego creation based on the book.
On Tuesday, April 19 at 6:45 p.m. we will hold a pajama night for ages 2 & up. Come dressed in your pajamas for stories, songs and a craft.

February School Vacation Week Activities

We will have great events at the library for school vacation week.
Tuesday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m. we will show the movie Nanny McPhee Returns. Also at 6:30 p.m. Pat Scully from Tutti! Music Together will be here for a musical pajama night for children ages birth - 5.

The Lutz Museum will visit us on Thursday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. to talk about the animals that call Connecticut their home. Call us at 860-763-3501 to sign up or for more information. Hope to see you there!

If you haven't signed up for Snacks with Santa now is the time! The annual event will be held this Saturday, December 4. Children can have their pictures taken with Santa, receive a free book from the Friends of the Library and enjoy a special snack. Hope to see you there.

Storytime Registration

Storytime registration for our next session takes place November 1-5. Somers residents can register beginning Monday, November 1 and non-residents may register beginning Tuesday, November 2. All storytimes will run for five weeks and begin the week of November 8.
Ages 12-24 months will meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10:30
Ages 24-36 months will meet on Mondays at 10:30
Ages 3-5 years will meet on Thursdays at 1:30 or Fridays at 10:30
Be sure to sign up early! Space is limited.

Storytime Fun!

What a wonderful first week of storytime. I had so much fun seeing all of you again! Welcome to our new friends who have joined us. This week the younger children did their A,B,C's and the preschoolers made candy apples. Next week the younger children will hear stories about apples and the preschoolers will learn about the falling leaves. The preschool group will also be getting their picture taken (by Ms. Marie)for a surprise craft in week 4 of storytime. Be ready to say "cheese".

Make a Splash -READ!

Our annual summer reading program will begin on Monday, June 21. Our theme this year is Make a Splash - READ! Join us for a water adventure this summer and read! When you sign up for our reading program you will receive a reading log, a book bag and a bookmark. Keep track of the library books you have read in your reading log and bring it with you when you visit the library. Each week that you visit the library, you'll receive a reading incentive and raffle tickets for wonderful prizes. Weekly raffles will be held every Friday at 3:00 p.m. beginning June 25. Our last raffle will be held on Saturday, August 7 at 12:30 p.m. You don't have to be present to win. Winners will be called. I hope to see you here this summer!

Happy New Year! There are lots of things to look forward to in 2010 at the library. If you haven't signed up to display your collection in our display case, come and see me! We have openings for August-December. The children's room shelves have been labeled. If you can't find what your are looking for be sure to ask for help. I have posted some upcoming events at the library and more will follow. We have some events planned for February school vacation week. I will be listing them soon.

It's happening! The children's library will be moving into our new space on October 26, 2009. I am so excited. We have been at the Kibbe Fuller location since May 2008. I am glad that many of you found us at our temporary location and visited often. I hope to see you at the new library soon. We have a schedule of events posted for November with new storytimes and book groups.
