Just a couple of days ago, TeacherBytes — a website that talks about cool stuff for teachers wanting to use technology in the classroom — in a podcast talked about how Kid-Cast.com was a great place to upload your Podcast and know they’re safe for everyone to hear!

The site is run by John Woodring. John Woodring is a Technology Integrationist and Web Media Productions Instructor at H.E. McCracken Middle School in Bluffton, South Carolina. Before his current adventure he was a Social Studies teacher at Bluffton High School, Hilton Head Island High School, and the Academies for Career Excellence. John has a Bachelors Degree in History from the University of South Carolina - Upstate and a Masters Degree in Education from Converse College.  Besides blogging,  John has done both podcasting and video blogging. So, we thought we’d add a little bit to what we deliver here on the site. We like sharing kid-friendly websites, and some advice based on science and our own experiences. There are so many things that make up a healthy lifestyle, but we know - for sure - that eating right and exercising are definitely biggies!

We found this  kid-friendly website called "Jump Into A Healthy Life" that talks about their favorite thing: jumping rope! Jumping rope is a really great cardio exercise (that means awesome for a healthy heart!) that can be done almost anywhere! You don’t need to go to a fancy gym to jump rope, you can do it right in your backyard!

Part of what they also discuss are the benefits of exercise and some facts about the circulatory system in your body (how your blood gets around inside you). There’s even a quiz to see how much you really know.

We want you to be creative! Do something unique with the words "Kid-Cast.COM" and help us come up with something fun and everyone can hear your voices! After a very long hiatus, Kid-Cast.COM is finally back on the map! It’s been a rough bunch of months for yours truly, but after getting through the multi-month family related issues that were going on, I am finally back and able to support the site again! I very happy to be back, and really look forward to all of the great Podcasts and Videos you guys have to offer!

When their parents disappear, twins Marty and Grace, 13, are taken in by their Uncle Travis, who searches the world for supposedly mythical creatures. “Child labor” is, generally speaking, work for children that harms them or exploits them in some way (physically, mentally, morally, or by blocking access to education). There is no universally accepted definition of “child labor”. Varying definitions of the term are used by international organizations, non-governmental organizations, trade unions and other interest groups. Writers and speakers don’t always specify what definition they are using, and that often leads to confusion.

This class figured that an education on how global warming is caused, and the effects it could have on us, might be beneficial to help us all help others. Remember, the world is not perfect but doing your part will keep it at its peak.

As an interesting global statistic, most new cars that run on diesel fuel today also run on a new fuel called biodiesel. Biodiesel is a byproduct of vegetable oil. Within the next few years, biodiesel should be making its way into gas stations across the country. It reduces environmentally hazardous emissions by up to 80%!

Ebola is a virus-caused disease limited to parts of Africa. Within a week, a raised rash, often hemorrhagic (bleeding), spreads over the body. Bleeding from the mucous membranes is typical causing apparent bleeding from the mouth, nose, eyes and other parts of the body.

This is a very serious virus that still needs much more scientific understanding.

  4 square (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
  2/3 cup shortening
  2 cups sugar
  4 eggs
  1 teaspoon vanilla
  1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  1 teaspoon baking powder
  1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  ¾ cup chocolate chips (optional)
  Heat oven to 350°. Grease rectangular baking pan,13×9X2 inches. Heat chocolate and shortening in 3-quart saucepan over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix in remaining ingredients. Spread in pan. Bake until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 30 minutes. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely; cut into bars, about 2 X 1 ½ inches. Frost or sprinkle with powdered sugar. Makes about 3 dozen; 140 calories each.
