Matryoshka! for kids

Matryoshka! is a smart and funny toy for young kids and toddlers, inspired by the classical Russian nesting dolls. This application can be played by kids ages 18 months and above.
What seems very easy for an adult can be a real puzzle for a child; open all the dolls, find the smallest one, and then identify the order of doll sizes to be able to stack them all together again. Magical Music Box Lite

Magical Music Box is a musical app for kids, toddlers and babies. It plays beautiful melodies from the whole world with an authentic sound of music box.

Kids can customize their apps order simply by dragging and then dropping the apps in the new location. Apps can be ordered by subject, priority or any other order the child decide.

We’re sure you’re already familiar with a few of the apps that made it into the top 10 list. What we find most interesting is that although this top 10 included well-known brands from the mobile world, only one app, Where’s My Perry?  is a recognized brand, created by Disney originally for TV.

With times and trends constantly changing, many megastars of today kids’ brands, such as Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and Fruit Ninja are mobile apps making their way into the offline world. This is quite surprising as many of us expected TV characters to still be the main characters most in demand.

So does this mean that TV is becoming a thing of the past for kids? Only time will tell, but one thing for sure, the new apps echo system which is an integral part of the mobile world will have strong effect on the kids’ toys and entertainment industry in the coming years.

Just like last week, this review is focusing on the best of the holiday apps that we think your kids will enjoy the most. Like a chocolate selection box on Christmas morning, this blog is jam-packed with a variety of different games that kids of all ages will love!

Our top 5 apps are…

Tap Zoo: Santa’s Quest gives your kids the chance to bring a little Christmas cheer to Little Tim’s orphanage when they help Santa build a zoo based on the 12 Days of Christmas. They will be able to collect exotic winter animals and create the perfect home for them at the North Pole. This game is most suited to kids aged 6+.

Hours of holiday fun is to be had with Talking Santa. This app allows you to poke, tickle and swipe Santa, as well as have him repeat everything you say! He’ll reveal you if you’ve been a good boy or girl this year and enjoy the festive cookies you can offer him! This app is great for the whole family to enjoy and is even suitable for the youngest of kids!

Connect the Dots Christmas will give your little ones hours of fun, with the 50+ different Christmas images they can discover by connecting the dots. This game not only helps your younger kids with their counting, but it gives them fun Christmas pictures to enjoy once they complete a puzzle. This is definitely an app that younger kids will enjoy.

Pandas vs Ninjas Christmas Edition gives your kids a festively themed version of a favorite game. This version features fun winter graphics, as your kids help the pandas defeat the ninjas, and destroying their camp. This game is most suited to kids 7+.

Christmas Tale is our final festive app recommendation of the season. No Christmas would be complete without a story or two being shared, and this app doesn’t disappoint. It brings the joy through a magnificent interactive story, and features great graphics and sound effects, so kids of all ages can experience a beautifully written Christmas tale.

Whilst we were thinking of the best present for your kids this Christmas, we got a little side-tracked and became very nostalgic.

Do you remember getting a slinky or Mr. Potato Head in your stocking on Christmas morning? Or perhaps, your folks bought you fun board-games, such as Guess Who, Monopoly and Operation? Was a Space-hopper, Atari or Easy-Bake Oven waiting for you under the tree? If so, you were very lucky come Christmas Day!

And let’s not forget the toys we all begged our parents for, toys that became some of the biggest selling toys of our childhood. Hungry Hungry Hippos (1978), Rubik’s Cube (1980), Cabbage Patch Kid (1983), Nintendo Gameboy (1989) and the Tickle Me Elmo doll (1996) are just some of the toys that will bring back happy memories to many parents.

We’ve seen hundreds of festive apps, including coloring Santa books, Christmas countdown calendars, and Reindeer games, but to name just a few!

Here are this week’s top five apps!

Piggly Christmas Edition is our top choice this week! It’s Christmas and Mrs Piggly is a pig on a mission! She has to bake as many apple pies as possible for her piglets. Your kids need to help her go to the forest and gather the apples… but they’re not coming without a fight! This is a great game for kids aged 6 and older!

Bubble Monkey Christmas is the festive edition of the ever-popular Bubble Monkey series. Get into the holiday spirit with new cool power bubbles with spectacular special effects and help Bubble Monkey to shoot all the Bubbles in the sky! This game is suitable for kids aged 6+.

The Elf Adventure Calendar enables your kids to celebrate the run-up to Christmas with Santa’s little helpers. This fun Christmas Calendar features cute puzzles and games, animated puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and drawings. At the end of each daily mini-game funny animations await. This app is suitable for kids of all ages.

Christmas Tree Decoration allows your kids to have a different Christmas tree every day, as they get to dress up the branches however they like… without getting pine-needles all over your carpet! This game is perfect for younger children, from aged 3+.

Santa’s Village is the holiday game everyone’s talking about! Help Santa build a bigger and better village, and save Christmas from being ruined by the Grumpkins! First your kids will need to build homes for Santa’s elves, create a toy factory and make lots of toys. Then they can teach reindeer to fly, and meet magical neighbors like Yobo the Yeti. Unlock special buildings and colorful decorations to make your village even merrier. This game is suitable for kids aged 6+.

We discovered that 8-18 year-olds devote an average of 7.5 hours (during a typical day) using entertainment media.  During this period, they ‘media multitask’ or ‘media-stack’ (use more than one device at a time), bringing the total to just under 11 hours’ worth of media content a day.

Ofcom recently ran a report, and for the first time it contained data indicating the media habits of 3-4 year olds. The research showed that many kids within this age group are already using a range of different media devices, including 6% who are going online via a tablet computer.

The good news with all this online activity by your kids is that according to neuroscientist Paul Howard-Jones, from Bristol University, playing games can help kids learn. It’s all about dopamine. Basically, computer games stimulate the brain, making dopamine, which in turn helps orient attention & encourage the creation of connections between neurons.

So we know that computer games are good for kids learning, but too much time spent online isn’t healthy or advisable. That’s why KIDO’Z has settings within the parental controls that allow you to set a time limit. You determine what you think is a suitable, and healthy amount of play-time for your kids.

This limit can easily be increased or decreased as you see fit. By using this feature, your kids can play and learn and develop with KIDO’Z, and they will still have time for other activities, sports and even homework!
