I was holding a D-SLR camera posturing to take some nice scenery, adjusting the shutter speed and aperture to make sure the colour balances, and the results were fabulous, exactly like a pro. I was glad and contented, so out for more excitement, I lifted my hand close to my eyes and look through the camera for more shots. The next moment I open my eyes, I saw my hands sticking to my face, and I saw the ceiling of my room and yeah, exactly like a pro in my dream.

I know I misses my camera, I haven’t been taking pictures with my baby D-SLR for a while and the urge to play with it again reacted naturally while I'm asleep. As I haven’t got chance to organize outings, I decided to bring my baby along with me to a casual Karaoke session. It was a risk since I might wreck it or misplace it if I'm drunk! Well, it turn out okay, I got myself wasted that night, but my baby is still in one piece, I didn’t lose it but I lost the lens cover in the end!! Damn, when it comes to unexpected outcome!!!! Not very happy the next day even though I have an extra lens cover.

So, happily I’ve got some updated photos to share in here this time… It was Wilson’s birthday party in New Square Karaoke on last Saturday night, and I was encouraged to bring my baby along to freeze some happy moments. Since I’ve got free time, I edited some nice ones with Photoshop~

Anyway it's late now and got to get up early for work tomorrow again. So, I’m going to bed soon…

Once I got into the Karaoke room, I caught hold of Christine and took a few close-up so I can adjust the settings to suit the room lightings. I think it's just me, I'll try a few shots but the first one is always the best. Yeah, so happy Christine got another photo to add into her personal portrait album.

As usual when it comes to birthday party, a cake is an important complement to the birthday person. And when it comes to my blog space, it is vital to let you know that it's not that easy to capture a nice warm photo with candlelight lightings. Indirectly, I became an important complementary person as well!

Something that I realized after seeing this photo the next day, I can't remember the taste of this cake. After thinking it twice, I finally remember that the cake was divided equally among everyone but one piece sat on the table for sometime - I thought it was an extra one. Since no one claims it, it end up to be the most desperate cake at the end of the day.

After taking blardy heaps of shots of it, I totally forgotten that this piece was mine!! See what I mean? It's desperate - "EAT ME!!!!" and I really want to try it...

This scene is when my nightmare begins, I'm not going to explain the rules of this "Bing Bang" game since I drank like 5 glasses after people bang me.

And this is what happen, I've got too shy after drinking up all the alcohol in the room.

Not the Same

It’s the 5th month of 2009 and things haven’t been the same. I still remember I had this conversation with a friend during the beginning of 2009, he told me ‘Gimmo, I feel things will be different for me in 2009’ and what he meant was, he felt that 2009 will be a great year in comparison to the previous years he had. Although I have no idea how great 2009 will be for him and how bad was his past experience deep inside, I definitely feel the excitement gushing out of him over that time. In fact, not under his influence, I had this similar feeling even before he bring up the conversation. Something true about me is that I’m a dull person in nature and I’m not that kind of a person who look forward to a coming new year – the approach of Millennium years ago doesn’t excite me at all proves it.

Things haven’t been the same, I don’t wake up in the morning lazing on the bed no more, and I’ll wake up, look forward to the day sincerely, do what needs to be done, meet up friends and fully utilize each day.

Things haven’t been the same, I don’t look forward to weekend parties, and I feel contented catching up with some true friends and talk about simple stuffs.

Things haven’t been the same, not forgetting my plan, I devote myself into my job during work hours, learn everything I can learn and research on everything I need to know.

Things haven’t been the same, the takings of 2009 is unique, feels like a motivated kid trying to build the best sand castle on the beach out of his very own will to achieve satisfaction.

Things haven’t been the same, the fright of being alone when I’m sick has left me, I grew stronger, rather than thinking I need someone here to take care of me during the worst flu, I abandon that idea and accept the fact that I’m an independent patient, I do what I need to do.

Things haven’t been the same, 4 months had passed and I’m still going on with my best effort and time is not wasted, 4 months feels much longer than any other 4 months I had, the best thing is I’m feeling greater!

Things haven’t been the same, the sentence ‘action speaks louder than words’ finally got enlightened in my brain, a powerful mouth with a powerful brain without action brings vain at the end of the day. Life is not about how many times you success but how long you can maintain that particular success and how you improve on that success - I’m not talking about success, I’m still with the sentence ‘action speaks louder than words’.

But, some things are the same - today is Friday and still, TGIF because I’ve done all my work and I’ll be having a paid leave in office which mean I’m blardy free yet still have to sit in the office looking busy. So now, I’m doing some unimportant yet work related yet have to look as if it’s the most important task for the day. And I also have the concentrated and stressed frowning look as if I am extremely unapproachable and super hardworking. Life is tough!!

Some things that I’ve decided to do…

• Quit my job in July if everything goes smoothly according to my plan
• Devote myself totally into the job during work hours and learn what supposed to be learnt within this period of time before I quit
• Devote myself into the plan at the right time and work everything out consecutively
• Lesser updates/time spend on my blog but will try to do it once in a while
• Move to a new place near/within Melbourne City compound

I’ve did a lot of things since I came back to Melbourne, I can’t keep up with the updates as I’m not as hardworking with my photos nowadays. Apparently, the main highlights that I wanted to update are Jay’s Birthday which was last month, the twins C back to Melbourne for holiday last week, Nicholas back to Melbourne for holiday currently, Ting Ting Estelle a stewardess friend of mine dropped by Melbourne again yesterday and my trip to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur when I had my 6 weeks holiday.

Just a quick update, Melbourne weather turned into ice temperature yesterday and I almost froze when I walk along Swanston Street, everyone on the road still seems very energetic towards the changes. People try to enjoy this moment - going steam boat for dinner, enjoying ice creams that won’t melt and boozing away to welcome the cold! I went steamboat last night and blardy China steamboat shop is so full of people and earning a lot of money that even the waiter is so full of crap attitudes. I can only remember asking them repeatedly the same question - where’s my ~~balls~~ fish balls that we ordered!?

I think I’m still an alcoholic inside out, I’m fine today but yesterday was terrible. I woke up with a bad headache so I called off half day work but still can’t recover after I rested, then I came into the office with the bad headache – suffered almost the whole day in the office until my momentum touches the golden liquid and then feel it down the throat, and I know I find paradise as my headache gone right away! Gosh, if only I can drink some alcohol during work, that’ll be the best! …

Okay probably not~

Johor Bahru, also spelled Johor Baharu, Johor Baru, ("Baru" means "new" in Malay) or Johore Bahru and abbreviated as JB, is the capital city of Johor and is a town where I’m born.

When I was in JB, I did many things - I had all my favourite food like Bak Kut Teh almost everyday, Kuey Tiao Kia, Wonton Mee, Kuey Tiao soup and Dry Noodles with Abalone in Soup! I decided not to take any picture of them after my friends said I look like a silly tourist after I took the best chicken rice in JB... Fine!

Give me a delicious meal, lovely soup and pass me the spoon!! And I’m a happy man. I’ll summarize some other things that I’ve did in JB -

Celebrated sneaky Guan Yu’s 5yo Birthday.

Finally met my nearly 2yo cheeky nephew for the first time.

Babysat the cry-baby.

Went Bangkok and bought a Thai dress for my cute little niece.

Went to my Uncle’s place and catch up with my cousins.

Fetched the primaries to school.

Catch up with the Feikaz~

Helped out at home.

Had dinners with Family.

Met up with primary school mates.

Went to Duan’s house warming.

Went to my uncle’s company to surveillance the workers.

Brought Jamie from Singapore to Eden JB for Coffee with Vincent and Eddie.

Proudly show off my Gorillapod (Camera Stand).

Brought Jamie to Breakers Bar the next day, met Gui Jie (one of the funniest Feika), took a picture with Poly and then got wasted for the night.

Went horse riding with Jamie and end up with all the lazy horses that can’t run! But get to know a new friend Mous - the owner of the stable.

Ate in Carabao Thai restaurant with Poly, Jamie, Zhi En, Liang and swallow the fish head at the end of the meal.

Lastly, met up with Xue En, Ya Fen, Anthrea aka 青小梅, new pretty young girl Eve and the whole of Breakers Bar Insanity Group – the well known for lameness and loyal ’ness’ breakers group!

I see them once a vacation every year, and I’m always glad that they still remember how to address me when I got home. They have an idea that I’m in Australia but they have no idea where is that place, whenever I pack a bag for outing when I was back in Malaysia – a few questions will come along “You are going back to Australia again?”, “You are not coming back anymore?”, “Why you keep coming back and going off?”

The eldest is my niece, people always say in majority – brain of a girl grows faster. She’s 8yo with lots of empathy – she’ll listen to me, ask questions, stay obedient, teach the right thing to the younger and never liked to play game. While my nephew, 5yo cares nothing more than games and mobile, he’ll ask heaps of questions with interest and work his way until he gets his hand on the mobile game. And the youngest nephew, 2yo who still can’t talk, have the interest to snatch whatever the 5yo plays – nothing else and I call him the king because he gets everything once he shout. All three of them grow under the same roof with totally different character!

It’s the second time that I celebrated my nephew birthday, the first time was in the hospital when he still have bloody stain on his face after birth – they said he looks like a monkey and he falls under the year of Monkey under the lunar calendar, coincidently born during the midnight of day 8 in the new year period (初八) so they said he’s one of the 天公仔 (Hokkien Translation “Ti Gong Kia”) which also mean the son of the Chinese God.

Whether it’s true or not, I can’t be bothered but I do think he have a monkey look and when time goes by, he even acted like one -he become very mischievous when he gets older.

Until today, he has become a smart kid with good memory for his own good. I mean once you teach him something he’s interested like games, he pick it up right away and play it really well – he got a good logical brain and obey his sister but still too naughty to listen to others.

For his 5yo birthday, we made a party for him in my aunt’s place so that my younger cousins can celebrate together, play in the pool, run around the place, dominate each other’s toys, and snatch for the cake and all the delicious food.

My cousins - needless to say that they are game freaks as well since they are boys – the Photostat-face brothers!

The food is so nice that I can’t stop myself as well, best when it still comes with soup! I don’t know what to name them since it’s all cooked by my aunt – even better than my mum’s cooking. Damn!

五福北京城 Reunion

It’s been a few weeks since I’m back but I still can’t find the mood to write until now. During the 6 weeks of holiday, I don’t have much chance to post photos and they sum up to 2200 photos when the time I came back to Melbourne – it’s hard to sort them out now.

From my last post, I was whining about losing things that I had during that 6 weeks, it seems like I took a week or more to settle down my feelings and get the normal things that I used to do in Melbourne going again. My rational mind is not working alright at all for the past 2 weeks, I still think of how I wake up and drive out to have my convenient delicious lunch, how I give a call to my mum telling her that I’ll go home for her wonderful home-made dinner, how I call up friends and ask them out to have a drink instantly and how cheap I can get food outside and have 5 meals a day…

I managed to sort things out after going crazy in the head for a while, finally hold myself up and get things going. So first, I’m going to show-off my friend’s successful restaurant in the JB town. On the third day after I got back to Johor, I had a reunion day with my dear ‘Feika’ buddies – those whom I hang out every day when I was in JB, like part of my family?

Everyone got busy with age, some got too busy with work, some with family, some with their own business and some still hang around the town doing nothing much, everything seems the same like old time yet something is different in each of us but the bond to make this picture happen is priceless.

Not trying to be exaggerates but after so many groups of friends I met in my life, I still prefer to stick with the original old ones – they say 旧爱还是最美, the feeling is very nostalgic.

Anyway our group is too big so I’ll just use one as our representative throughout this post – our Linda aka Feika Limited Model.

Welcome to 五福北京城 (The place where your wallet gets ripped)

So this year I finally managed to spend Chinese New Year with all of them, the last time should be 3 years ago.

This also means that I’ve not done this for 3 years, the Malaysian Chinese Culture during Chinese New Year – eating Yu Sheng ’鱼生’ known to welcome prosperity for a new year.

The special thing about this Yu Sheng ’鱼生’ dish is that there’s a way to eat it – mix in all the ingredients consists of salmon, white radish, carrot, ginger, shrimp crackers, sesame seeds and Chinese parsley, then gather everyone.

Once everything is set, ready the chopsticks and start tossing the ingredients into the air and shout ‘Huat ah’ repeatedly for a million times like our 鱼生 Model from the picture.

The idea is to say out loud all the auspicious wishes to mark the start of a prosperous new year, the better and higher you toss, the louder and more golden words said, the greater the fortune it is for that year.

After all the tossing and posing, snatch the Chinese parsley aka Fa Cai ‘发菜’ since it’s the vegetable that pronounce as ‘getting rich’ in Mandarin. Usually it’s harder to find, as some sneaky fellows will toss it to their own plate before everyone started eating.

When it comes to this kind of food, no one toss higher than us definitely. Some other dishes which they serve in Pekin Sutera Utama 五福北京城...

The nice fake shark fin soup ‘福州汤’ – definitely taste as delicious as it looks…

And these are the dishes which I don’t even know the names for it but I know they taste good.

And when I say it’s not cheap, I mean it! RM 1039.95 for all we had above.

Although the price went up to RM 1040.00, I’m not trying to show you that my buddy’s restaurant is a rip-off restaurant – they definitely serve good food and it can be cheap!

The place is definitely good for kids since it’s spacious and they have lots of fish tanks and amazing fishes that are all ready to get cooked!

Can you recognize any of the fishes? Anyway the place as a whole have a grand look~

Whether you like it with air-con or enjoy your food under the lunar moon with soft breeze, you pick your choice~

And here comes the menu we had, it sums up to RM 600.00 and I’m much more satisfied than those I had previously.

One of the best dish name ‘Pen Cai’ 盆菜, where the chief chuck all the good stuffs into a pot and steam it until it gets cooked – delicious. One pot of this can eat up to 10 people.

Melbourne Resonation

I’m back to Melbourne after 6 long weeks of holiday, I’m glad I still remember how reluctant it is to walk out of the house in the cold and find the morning so damn cold, how tired it is to stand in the train listening to my ipod and how boring it is to catch the time of the train I should take for work, then the password to log in for my job, the location of my office table and my leader’s name, etc – when these things comes around, I know things got back to usual again.

Usual might not be that usual, I’m lost getting back here – lost the sound where my nephews and niece cry and make noises during the morning before I wake up, lost the voice of my mum nagging me to come home for dinner, lost of the calls from my friends asking me to go bak kut teh for lunch, lost the feeling of having a car to go around whenever I like, lost of the feeling that friends are just one or two streets away from my house and lost of staying in the same time zone with most friends and family, and even lost when close one isn’t around.

I took 1 day to pack my luggage and another day to unpack them but I wonder how many days I need in order to pack up my feelings…

The C.N.Y – Cow New Year

It’s the Moo Moo year, let’s kill more cows for our desires on steak!

I’m greedy this year so I’ll celebrate CNY in Melbourne and Malaysia, since I dislike the first day of CNY. Every year, there are only two scenarios, first, relatives will come visit and disturb me when I was in my dreamland early in the morning, then I’d wake up with a sleepy look and they’ll look at me and laugh while greeting me ‘Morning, Piggy’. Scenario two will be, my mum waking me up extremely early to visit my great grand mother from my mum’s side and I’ll be extremely tired for the rest of my day, all the very nice foods doesn't seem so nice after that.

Nowadays, first and second day of New Year are usually bored back in my hometown after they ban fireworks in Malaysia, without fireworks flying all over the town, the town seems like too dumb for a person to feel spirited for the festive – most shops and shopping centers are closed until the third day of New Year, relatives visit you and take up all the space in your house (bed, sofas, teles’, PCs’, etc), gamble friends set up tiny gambling den and try to win all the monies from your red-packets and the roads are so quiet with a few cars that make you feel that you shouldn’t be out on the road but somewhere else fighting to win somebody else’s red-packet.

So I decided to skip the first 2 days and happily have a dinner with my family when I get back on the 28th. This decision doesn’t make me feel extremely good though since I still have to come back to office today to finish up everything I have to do for my 6 weeks of holiday – I managed to clear out my last task this morning and will be happily enjoying my rest of the day in the office chilling around, it’s CNY after all.

Australia Day falls on the 26 January and Aussies don’t celebrate CNY, my CNY holiday was then compensated from the Australia Day Holiday on the 26th so it’s all good, if not I’ll make a third scenario soon. This year I feel I’ve started off CNY pretty happily, although the festival I went wasn’t that fun but it did made me feel that its CNY, and also, on the very same night, I finally join my housemate to another KTV session again - it’s been such a long time since the last time I joined him and had that much of fun.

Other than that, on CNY itself, I had a great time practicing my cooking skill. As usual, my family friends here, except for Nick and Warren since they are back in Malaysia this time. We made a great reunion feast…

The extremely nice Poh Piah (One of the Malaysian food) filled with fresh minced prawns, minced pork and etc… The preparation for it took like a few hours!

Michelle helping out to roll and wrap up the ingredients into ‘Poh Piah’ – looks professional until I tempted her to make funny shapes, she ended up making large shanghai dumpling instead of Poh Piah - totally lost her direction.

These are the ingredients… not easy to make them at all - there are so much work like peeling off the prawn’s shells, chopping up onions and many more…

After all the trouble, we still have to look out to make sure it’s fried into gold brownish color so it’ll be crispy and not burnt…

As for me, I think fish for CNY is a ‘must’ thing to have, so I bought a big fresh Barramundi which I made it in two different ways…

Then we had the mushroom Chicken that was marinated for two days! The Chicken has a strong mushy taste, and the mushroom is sooO nice!

Other than that, we had Cashew Prawns, heaps of Marinated Fried Chicken, Yellow Bean Soup with Pork Spare Ribs, Steam and fried Vegetables with Garlic. They are all so delicious that I couldn’t resist not eating more and I ended up with a bloated tummy the next day, all good for a New Year start!

Guess what!? 1 more day to go!!!!!

Approximately 140 days ago, I placed a countdown for the moment I put my foot on the ‘Kiasu’ land. This countdown has been here for so long that it has become part of the ornamental in this page. To speak the truth, I haven’t been seeing it since the very first time I placed it in here, never will I think that it will make me excited by looking at it, like now! I’m so going to take my holiday!!

I’ll be away from Melbourne at this period of time - 28/01/09 to 13/03/09 which also mean that I won’t be updating this blog since I’ll be overly excited to type, neither do I have the time to do it and I’m so going to eat Bak Kut Teh everywhere!!! Right now, I can imagine the savory satisfaction when I first place the Bak Kut Teh into my mouth after months and days of cravings and you know, the taste have to be from that particular shop that you ate ever since young, how the pork melt in the mouth... etc!!

Geeezz, I really can’t sit still right now! Behold!! 5 more days~!~!

Mount Dandenong

Philip got a friend from Kuching who came to Melbourne for holiday and he too, owns a d-slr camera, name Daniel Tok. We call him Ah Tok, and he invited us to a short trip to Mt Dendenong with her daughter Alysha.

Alysha is 3 years old and she’s a little bit funny. She doesn’t like to take photos and if she realized that someone is shooting her secretly, she’ll cover her face but if someone forced her to take one, she’ll make weird faces and he will have to take a few in order to get a good one like this…

Of course, being the uncle of three shouldn’t have problem handling just one and aside from that, I love kids and am really good at dealing with them.

Apart from taking her pictures, she is always happily munching her teevee snacks~

We arrived at Mount Dandenong during arvo, decided to have our lunch in this restaurant call Pie in the Sky, a pretty famous place for freshly baked pies. I’m not sure how famous or fresh their pies are, but they did win a few awards for its pie. One of the dishes that won a gold medal is the ‘pie in the sky’ where they serve the pie together in the soup.

Pie in the Sky – Beef & Guinness flavor – Chunky beef and potato cooked in Guinness beer

I picked the beef and Guinness flavor and the taste is really good, I’m not a pie person so I can’t say much about it. But I had a try on Philip’s 'Pie in the Sky' with Steak and Kidney fanor (Chunky beef, lambs kidney and carrots), the lamb kidney stinks badly and totally not my kind of food. Philip regretted ordering it, maybe it’s for extreme lamb lovers only.

These are the varieties available – somehow it’s attractive to put it this way, I feel like tasting all of them! Obviously Steak & Mushroom must be really nice compared to the rest~

From the take-away menu board - it shows the types of pie they sell and favor that won medal are tagged with the word gold or silver on the side so that customer knows which the better ones are. Surprisingly, the Steak & Kidney has silver tagged!

This is like the third time I’ve been to this restaurant, and I believe it’s always packed with crowds during public holidays or weekends. I couldn’t remember what I had last 2 times when I was here but it didn’t leave me with any bad impression so it’s all good…

Other than pies, cakes are the other options which I have never tried before and according to the menu, they baked the cakes as well!

Their bread toast is so blardy delicious that I can still remember its taste even now! I know it’s just ham, cheese and bread but I just like the way it’s made – crispy outside, soft inside, a little salty taste from the cheese and a little juicy from the ham! Yummy!! A very good starter~

We gobbled up our meals pretty fast and Alysha started gulping down her cold vanilla milk shake and become a happy girl!

Oh yeah and I like their cozy interior design with lots of portraits hanging on the wall. After we were done with our meal, we went to walk around the street and I realized this place is like a kid’s paradise! This is what we found along the street…

If you get what I mean, don’t bring your kids there if you want to save money! I’m surprise Alysha didn’t even request for a single thing from her dad Tok, maybe she is still too young to go there and she is very obedient throughout the whole trip. Other than requesting for an ice cream and vanilla milk shake, she is pretty low profile!

Then just 10 minutes drive away from the town, at the highest point of Mount Dandenong – the place where one can see the whole of Melbourne City, the night view is excellent for a romantic date! But it’ll be damn boring to drive all the way up there at night, all the feel might have gone after the long drive up the mountain~

At this highest point, there’re some attractions like sculptures for tourist like me and some other interesting activities like this one…

You can find curious kids trying to squeeze the nipples of this ‘whatever it’s called’ statue.

After the photo taking session, we drove another 15 minutes to this restaurant call Miss Marples.

I supposed this restaurant opens from breakfast until high tea, and it’s definitely more famous than Pie in the Sky since we waited 90 minutes to get our seats! So we went around the area for a walk and took some interesting pictures…

After the long wait, I almost lost the mood to eat anything but I guess the crowd never lies.

The restaurant is extremely homey and comfortable with the warm orange lights and retro pictures hanging on the walls. The ambiance is perfect and so is the food!

I’ll highly recommend this, best scones ever served with Butter and Jam! I can’t explain, try it and you’ll understand what I mean~

We also had salad, apple strudel and crispy chicken fingers. Then we left with satisfaction!

Apparently, I was supposed to be on Lemon Detox that very first day so these are all the reasons I failed badly – how can anyone resist such food?

Finally I picked up the keyboard and start typing! When I’m not writing in here, I’m busy organizing the pictures I’ve took, uploading pictures to my flickr, working, going out, planning my coming holiday and busy making my 2009 an exciting one! And about my 2009 resolution, I’ve placed them somewhere visible to me everyday so I get to refer them since I lose track most of the time. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly~

Back to my topic, I started off 2009 with fireworks glittering in front of me…

And a glass of champagne in South Melbourne, a friend’s place that gives a good view of fireworks…

Yes! Talking about smooth-sailing year! I choked my very first glass of gassy champagne at the very first sip after knocking the glass with everyone!! The hilarious part is, the champagne splashed out of my mouth right onto Jay’s face since he’s right in front of me! I can’t stop laughing while I apologize - not too bad for a start, I thought. That’s why I said I never like gassy soft drinks ever since young!

The first hour zoomed pass with some laughter and fun in my friend’s place. We had steamboat from 2008 to 2009. We talk, drink, eat, laugh, play cards, play cats, drink again, eat again, laugh again, drink again and eat again until we get so satisfied and tired for the night…

Lemon Detox

Yes! I’m on lemon detox program, Beyonce Knowles and Mariah Carey are a big fan of it! Nah they didn’t introduce it to me, but Warren did! Lemon Detox is aka the master cleanse of body toxins! The way it works is to drink only Natural Tree Syrup and Lemon drink that they provide for 7-10 days, no other food, no cigarette and no alcohol!! If you are interested, google “Lemon Detox” and there’ll be heaps of information and remember to read the articles about it as well. Until now, I do feel the increased of energy & vitality or the "rejuvenation sensation" but I’m hungry all time no matter how much I drink.

It’s irony – I started 6 days ago. First day I failed badly because I went to mount Dandenong and to all the places with good food! I failed but glad that I tried the best scone of my life (I’ll make another entry about my Dandenong Trip, haven’t got time to sort out the pictures). Second day, I was determined but still, failed even more miserably - I end up in a BBQ lunch party, a delicious Japanese Restaurant during dinner, and slight beer session in a friend’s place with some ciggies at night!! When the third day comes, I managed to pull through it following the rules – I thought after I did the formal way for one day, I won’t feel as much cravings during the next day. But, I’m so wrong!! I end up cheating a poached egg on the fourth day - pathetic!! When the fifth day comes, I decided not to eat but I actually took half a ciggy – it definitely feels like heaven! I think that amount won’t affect the program and It's irritating to have the same taste in the mouth for the whole blardy day - anyway I’m still starving now!! I’ve decided again, today will be my last day and will start eating normally once I wake up tomorrow! I can’t wait!! I’m already thinking what I‘m going to eat for my breakfast!!!

I just started work again and haven’t got much time to make entries lately, many things need to be done since I’ll be going off for holidays in 3 weeks time.

At the moment, I’m happily having my year-end company break from 25/12/08 - 05/01/09. I didn’t have the time to update as I’m busy shopping, partying, playing my new toys and lots of things. I’ll briefly bring through what I did as there are too many if I go into details.

On the 24th of December, my employer RMR organizes Kris Kringle during morning tea time and provided a sumptuous seafood lunch with all the booze you want for all the employees! So basically that day, I was just hanging around chatting with my colleagues and proudly showing off my 450d. I’ve been in this company in the same team for 18 months already! Amazingly, I managed to pull through for my first job, although I’m not sure when will I bid goodbye~

I only stayed for Kris Kringle and went off with Churany to start my booze plan for that day - I actually missed out that seafood lunch! Damn!

On 25th of December, drove to Venus Bay Beach about 3 hours away from Melbourne with a group of friends to celebrate Christmas!

The weather is great and the beach is greater! I took approximately 200 photos for that day, so basically I’m the happy photographer!

This is one of my favorite shot I took! I named it ‘To Paradize’

With my models – Li Li and Li Ling, you know that they are sisters by their name.

We chill out for a while chatting at the beach then went off to dig some fresh pipis. I wasn’t much interested at first until I start digging it, then only I realized there are so many of them - all so fat and big, it just make me happy knowing that I’m so going to eat them later~

After we dug up so much of them, we flew with happiness!

After the beach, we went to a place nearby to BBQ for our lunch!

Of course, not forgetting a turkey for Christmas

Yeah, we didn’t get to BBQ the pipis as eating pipis with sand is the last thing we want. So we left it in a container of sea water for some time so that the pipis clear out most of the sand before we can have a feast on them!

Look at that amount of our work! I know - high cholesterol!

After the long wait for about 6 hours, we finally had them for our dinner in Christine’s place. We were all so hungry, and all the pipis were all so delicious! I think that night I had 50 of them at least~ OMG!

And this will be Pipis Group! They dig, catch, fry, steam and eat the pipis like a pro!!

On 26th of December, I woke up early in the morning again about 8.30am just to go shopping! Of course since it’s Boxing Day – the great sale day!

With Philip, we travel from Westfield Doncaster shopping town then to Chadstone… Shop til we dropped, from morning 9am until 10pm!! Almost dead, this is the longest shopping experience in my life!!

On 27th of December, I broke down and slept for the whole blardy day!

When I’m awake, I just dota my night off!

On the 28th of December, went to city for some photo shooting!

On the 30th of December, had a great Dim Sum, and then rested at home to recover and get ready for 2009!

On the 31st of December, I’m here to wish everyone a great year 2009!! Best wishes with all your dreams come true!!! May peace break into your house and thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of bills, love stick to your face like Vaseline and laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success, happiness slap you across the face and may tears be that of a joy. And last but not least, may all the problems you had forget your home address!

Don’t be curious why I’m doing this post - it’s for my own knowledge. I’ve ‘Googled’ the information from different sites and consolidated them. I thought it’ll be nice if I’m able to put those that I find interesting into one entry, the main purpose is to share and learn.

I believe moderate drinking of alcohol can reduce stress, create a carefree feeling which is pleasant and decreases anxiety. Sometimes, it might even help to stimulate appetite ~~and swallow a whole cow, then act like a holy cow~~.

Moderate drinking is good in some ways but it’s definitely hard to keep at that level if you are someone who loves to binge like how I used to. Binging alcohol is fun when it reaches certain stage but if one exceeded the limit, it can cause blackouts, memory loss and anxiety - sweet dream will then turn into nightmare, nightmare will then lead to depression, and if too much depression, one will suffer from personality disorders and experience the worst nightmare, then die! Whoops, not die but some serious mental health problems in the long run. Department of health define moderate drinking as “no more than one drink a day for most women, and no more than two drinks a day for most men”, which also means if you think you are a ‘super’ woman or man who fall out of that bracket, drink and binge all you want.

Some people depend on alcohol when they are feeling sad as they believe it helps them to cope with difficult situations and emotions, few will heed the advice that alcohol will affect their judgment, behavior and deteriorate the emotions which will make the situation worse. Why worse? Because alcohol exaggerates emotions, aggravate it and make that person more aggressive, less patient and impede the ability to make responsible decisions! After all, alcohol is classified as a depressant, in simple, it make someone stupid. Something interesting that a few might know - "one night of heavy drinking can impair your ability to think abstractly and grasp difficult concepts for as long as a month"! Gosh~ Stupid for a month?! No way!! Maybe that's the reason I made Just a “Stupid” Post.

The stages that one might go through when they consume alcohol –

Take a ‘super’ man for example:

Feeling it
Buzzed
Tipsy
Drunk
Wasted
Hammered
Smashed
Screw up

Then a ‘super’ woman for example:

Happiness
Intense happiness
Feel sexy and dance
Hugs and kisses for everyone
Suddenly he’s hot!
Oh my god~
Dinners make a comeback
Blackout

Some common stages happen in club includes, I’ll use ‘you’ in the example:

You ‘suddenly’ become an expert on every topic in the known universe. You know you know everything and want to share the knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this stage, you think you are smart so you are always right and the other person you are speaking to is ‘very’ wrong! Then the both of you will talk non-stop and make an interesting debate or argument when both parties think they are both ‘smart’.
You ‘suddenly’ realized that you are the best looking person in the club and that people fancy you. You go up to a stranger thinking they fancy you and really want to talk to you. You still think you are smart, so you talk to this person about any topic under the sun.
You ‘suddenly’ become the richest person. You buy drinks for every friend you encounter - you know you have to buy them since you are smart and the best looking person in the world now!
You ‘suddenly’ become a bullet proof person, no fear in anything so you challenge a game of wits with someone. Loser drink more but you know you have no fear of losing because you are smart, rich and hell better looking than any of them.
This is the final stage. You suddenly become invisible and no one can see you. You dance on a table to impress the person whom you fancy because the rest of the people cannot see you. As you are still invisible after the club, you walk through the street back to your home singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you and you are still smart as you know all the words in the lyrics. You act while you sing as well, since you are still the best looking person in the world.

Well, I think that’s most of it, a bad scenario will end up getting wallop by some other strangers who think they are ‘Jet Li on act’, that’s when the argument gets to the ugly side – the first ‘best looking’ chap don’t agree with the second ‘best looking’ chap, so they know they have to bash each other to win the title as this is a competitive world! Don’t you agree?

If anyone is reading this entry and you are an alcoholic… don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not trying to stop you since everyone know what is the best for themselves.

But here are some helpful tips for hangover if you are one alcoholic -

Eat a healthy meal after wake up as processing alcohol causes a drop in blood sugar and can contribute to headaches.
Drink plenty of water/juice to get re-hydrated before you crash. One of the best ways I tried is to drink isotonic/sports drinks like Powerade, Gatorade or 100Plus. To get the best rehydrate effect is - one before you start binging alcohol and another one after you stop, it’ll do a good job in re-hydrating the minerals you lost from alcohol.
Avoid excessive caffeine the next day as it contributes to dehydration. Don’t force your body to go through caffeine withdrawal in addition to alcohol withdrawal.
An over-the-counter antacid (indigestion aids) like Gastrolite the next day, it relieve some of the symptoms of an upset stomach and also slightly replenish some mineral from alcohol withdrawal.
Eat and don’t go too many hours without food as this’ll increase the effect of low blood sugar and cause a headache.
Eat complex carbohydrates like crackers, bagels, bread, cereal or pasta – this helps when the appetite is not in good mood.

Dream vs Reality

Sometimes when I was trying to wake up for work/school, my brain will make up some silly dreams. It happens once in a blue moon, but irritating enough to cause frustration. For example, this morning I dreamt that I’m in the office working when I’m still asleep~ so what happen was, when my alarm rings, I switched it off right away before I realized and my brain goes “Okay, I’ll call them back when I’m free since I really want to finish up this job first!” DENG!!! With eyes closed and a hardworking scene in my head... Happily the dream went on~!!
This is not the first time, so I have multiple alarms set at different time to poke me up and keep me on time for work. The worst dream happened was, I thought I woke up, brushed my teeth, showered and got into my clothes but when the next moment comes, I’m still happily drooling on my bed and will have to do everything again - just like Dejavu~

It’s always good to set clock 15 minutes ahead of current time.

Let’s take a walk with Graffiti

Something common in Melbourne but unique to the others is the Street Art. I have no idea about the history of artists in Melbourne, but I’m pretty sure they are good at vandalizing buildings with creative Graffiti! It’s no surprise to find a striking patch of Graffiti when you enter a dark, dirty alley around Melbourne - you’ll find yourself stunned since they are so cool!!

Last year around October, Street Graffiti was legalized in Melbourne as there are too many ‘noobs’ around the city who illegally ~~design~~ vandalize monikers on buildings, alleys, train stations and public toilets with colourful spray. Throughout all these years, the problems got so big that it’ll cost millions of dollars to clean up those vandalized streetscapes. So, the idea was to replace the amateur art pieces with new ‘pro’ graffiti. As in the street culture, it is impolite to deface another artist’s graffiti finished work and somehow it works. Regardless of that culture, I think no one will bear to dirt these masterpieces.

Along an alley is the graffiti of movie Princess Mononoke (Anime Movie made in 1997 by Hayao Miyazaki aka the director of Spirited Away)

I still remember helping Tiffany to organise her Birthday party on the big fishing boat last year. It was adventurous and although some vomited because of the rough waves, everyone still had fun to the max! And today, this birthday girl is reborn again~

Water Front @ Port Melbourne

People say that birthdays are good, there are many reasons to it – statistically, the one who have the most live the longest or realistically, you get a reason to eat lots of cakes – especially those super rich cakes from Melbourne!!

Tiffany decided to Waterfront it this time, and this is what happens…

Port Melbourne Waterfront has a good environment stated right in front of the sea. Everything is good except for the weather that day, it was blardy cold and raining, the fact that it’s located beside the sea makes thing worse. In the restaurant, we were "so honored" to be seated on the biggest table with the biggest chair around – the big long rectangular table is so long and big that a whole cow can be served on it! So cool but we were bugging the manager to change us into a round table since we felt too honored and can’t really hear each other from one end to the other.

Anyway that’s not the most important thing. Tiffany had a good time with her lobster even though she’s allergic to shells and her lips become numb when she was having it and she actually enjoyed it, so it’s all good. I was having fun teasing Evelyn about her new hair set - finally she doesn’t have to self-declare about herself as a beauty with her old dodgy hairstyle. Hoho~

I’ll give myself a few 2 more minutes before I wake up and ready up for work whenever it’s Monday! Today is the worst I think, I’m soO tired!! I hate it when my body clock couldn’t re-adjust/recover from my weekend parties. Well, hopefully Tiffany had a pleasant Birthday celebration last Saturday night.

I managed to get my ass to office on time - I look awake, eyes open and smiling but in fact until now I’m still half awake!! My brain is reluctant to think today, I can’t be bothered to give proper answers to my leader’s question and I’m glad he’s a person who’ll answer his own questions, all I did was listen and nod my head today.

Today’s weather sucks big time, after the frost rain last Saturday, even the Sun in Melbourne got slack! The whole day is soO cold and moody, I even feel like I’m in my dream right now!!! I think I better go get some food and shower then off to sleep~

But before that, Happy Birthday Linda! Have a great one and hope you won’t get another bouquet of nightmare blue roses this time~
