This Week in BB Cream: Nature Republic Collagen BB Cream SPF25 PA++ Age Slick

Disclaimer: though this bb cream is a gift with purchase Nature Republic didn't pay me to do this review. I also do not know how much the full size of this at Nature Republic Phils. And by the way I do not know what md water is, hehehe baka may magtanong, hindi na ko nag-google.

It's been a very toxic week with the sniffles, and a culmination of three months work is upon me and I needed something quick and easy for my daily face, no mess or fuss.

This is actually what I needed this week. Something simple, nothing too fancy with a bit of protection and coverage. the really nice and really mild baby powder scent is a sweet bonus. I'm glad this freebie is in that kind of upside down squeeze tube and makes it more hygienic and tidier to keep and reuse. Either my skin is extra dry because of the season, the colds I had this week, or the tension but my skin appreciated this bb cream that I think is really for combination dry skin.

Only my nose would get oily and would get that way only after 3-4 hours has passed already. I actually no longer retouch with powder and only blot the oil from my nose. It has spf25 pa++ enough for indoors. The scent, awww I really like the johnson baby powder scent, yung normal. It lasts all day, too, I just haven't tested it walking around in heat or humidity.

It didn't break me out and it's not too reflective in flash photography. The coverage though, is well, very light. I like the shade though, it suits me. A touch of setting powder helps, but overall if you have redness and scars to hide then have your concealer around. Pore coverage is minimal as well. but at least, it's quite easy to remove ;-)

I recommend this bb cream for those short trips to the market when you'd need some sun protection and not look like the walking dead. Will I purchase the full size? I think I'll try out Nature Republic's other bb creams specially the one for oily combination skin.

QUICK SHARE: The Face Shop White Lily Whitening Body Essence

Just a quick post from my phone and it's zzzz for me, still a little under the weather =(
Have you noticed that though it's sunny and can still be hot in the afternoons that it is still kinda dry? As much as i dislike humidity, I dislike dry, feeling stretched skin more. Parang nabanat sa tuyo. These photos were actually taken back in december when the hubby and I went to hk, when at the time was or still its their winter season. So yeah, dry and quite nippy. I as I've said on and off I always bring the freebies given to me when I travel rather than bring a shizz load of stuff that I'll only use a teeny tiny bit of then bring same stuff back home. So I like these sachets that only contain a few ml enough for use for the weekend then you can just trash it. That way you can have space on your luggage for???? You guessed it, your shopping haul!

So back to the lotion, so clearly I don't neeeeeeeeed to whiten, mom and dad gave me that for free. In fact I often say, 'seryoso ka ba miss???' After some sales clerk offers me some whitening product, oysssh.

So my comments will be on the lotion minus the claims of whitening. The sachet was pretty hard to open without scissors, which for me is a very good sign, it means to me that the product won't dry out too quickly in case I don't use it (if I don't open it). this thing smells sooooooooo GOOD! I'm not a scent person, so long as it's either vanilla or cheery blossoms, and possibly moringa (tbs) I'm happy. The scent of this white lily its really light, not heavy or irritating like lola's perfume na halos alcohol na. If they had a perfume version if this I'd buy it. The lotion is really nice, too. It wasn't greasey at all, it's perfect for the kind of weather/climate we've been having the last few weeks. But for winter and dry hk, I need reapplying in about 3-4 hours. This sachet though lasted me the entire trip, so a little goes a very long way, just a little on your usual dry spots, your elbows, your forearms, shins, and even heels.

Hmmmm thinking about all of its pros is making me wanna get it full size!

More lotion reviews soon, the liquid hand soap where I work is super drying, any guess what hand cream I use after I wash my hand after my business in the loo?

My WISH Company Gift Box Arrives

Disclaimer: the WISH Company didn't pay me to blog about them. I had entered their survey contest thing and was one of the few that were contacted to receive these.

Today the hubby went to the post to pick up his and my stuff and here we are.

Yeah! I can get to try new stuff, thanks to these samples! They included stuff from tony moly, the face shop, sulwhasoo, holika holika, innisfree, missha, liz, skin food, and another from real moist (?) A couple of pencils.

The survey asked me what I wanted and I was given a choice of bb creams or thus funky case. Since, as some of you know or think I already.have loads of makeup specially bb creams, I chose the funky case, the Rainbow pouch.

I'm glad I did, hahaha it's stretchy and opens however, it's sorta stretchy zipper finely stitched together at the ends, so no i can't take it apart and just have a few pairs of zippers. It's great for travel and it's almost take the shape of whatever you put in it or fit in the bag whatever shape that is. just be careful which zipper you open or all your stuff will fall out, so i guess there's a reason why that namzia market to give you a clue which is the bottom or TOP, whichever LOL.

And it's washable, so it's it's all good.

REVIEW: Etude House Wannabe Shine Finish Pact & Highlighter Duo SPF25 PA ++

This is one of the Christmas gifts given to me by Etude House last Christmas. This is part of the Wannabe collection that they say is limited edition. woah, this is PhP898

what the product looks like. it smells soooo good, too! it sorta smells like the roller perfume they gave me.

and what it looks like on my skin. the shade match is really good and the 'shine' is very very minimal if any.

the pink highlighter is what it is, a little powdery and not too finely milled but does the purpose, but at least it doesn't make me look oily in the middle of the day.

and this number 1 shade looks really natural on me and doesn't look like i have a mask on. and it mattifies the uber luminous laneige snow bb soothing cushion.

doesn't last long on my face, i get oily within about a couple of hours
the price, for once for any etude house review from me, i will put the price of this item under my dislike. i feel, that apart from its wonderful scent, it's a run of the mill setting/pressed powder pact. so i guess people who buy this will be buying it because it's a limited ed and for its packaging.

Do i recommend?

yes i do, ultimately this is a collectible item.

REVIEW: Tony Moly Intense Repair Live Snail Hydro-gel Mask

Just another quick post from my phone. Yeah, yeah, I'm addicted to this thing.

Finally I get to this product. Though I know I'm going to get a few more of these babies, here are my initial thoughts.
i got this at Watson's about a week ago, and there's the price, it's PhP298 per sachet of one use mask.

Upon opening the packet I was expecting the usual folded up really thick tissue drenched in goo. i get a clear thick plastic holds the fold of the mask in place. The mask was sandwiched between plastic, paper, and ANOTHER PAPER. soooo it's slimy, and I got the thing, both parts on my face.

the during, see the nose flap? The nose flap was irritating. oh yeah i fell asleep with this on. it was that cooling, relaxing, minus the part where i can't breath properly LOL. so i guess i wore this for about an hour? I had the sniffles this weekend and having a slime drenched flap cover your nostrils made my breathing even more troublesome, and yes it flapped while I breathed.

Every time I have these things on I end up scaring the cats like hannibal. But ovey, I needed the moisture.

and no, there isn't an extra lamp lit for this face to have gotten this bright. it kinda did work.

Likes:

At least 70% snail slime
Gel type consistency of the drench so I wasn't dripping
Cooling effect
My skin absorbed it like nobody's business
I didn't need to wipe any product off after I removed it.
No harsh skin reaction
Quite brightening on my skin, if I do say so myself
Scent is ok

Dislikes:

I don't get the triple layer of paper, the plastic, then paper.
The price-but then all snail products are pricey.

Will I repurchase, yep, specially on sickly, breakouts, tension-filled days like these.

REVIEW: My Take on the new REVLON LIP BUTTERS

Just a quick post from my phone:
DISCLAIMER: all of the shades shown here are worn over my etude house lipstick base and etude house lip concealer to reveal the true color of each shade on my lips.
I will follow this up with a video review of this. i think there's no better way to show lipsticks than through swatching them in front of ample lighting and a video cam. but for the purposes of this blog, here are the three of the new revlon lip butters that i have.

they are as pigmented as described all over youtube and the blogworld and very creamy to apply

raspberry pie i think this is my favorite, but i already have something like this, the gift given to me by etude house, but that has a deeper berry shade, creamier and not as sticky as this lip butter, and less expensive (the etude one vs this revlon).

raspberry pie me, this is almost what i wanted out of that berry mauvey from avon nyahahaha.

sweet tart, please excuse the lip skin tags on my lips, to remove them while still short like that will cause my lips to bleed. (eh well, i wore a nyx the other night while filming a review)

something wearable to school or at work as well. quite similar to chic beige of etude house's look at my lips line, only that is smoother to apply, cheaper and lasts longer on my lips

I must say that i'm sorta surprised, for something described as a very tinted lip balm, without my lipstick base and lip concealer, these lippies are quite sticky to apply on naked lips. in phrase, may sabit. malagkit, sticky. i like the fact that unlike real lip balms or those lipsticks that claim to have lip balm properties, this revlon lip butter doesn't give you that awful white line on your lips after a while of wearing them. it kinda lasts through a meal and doesn't transfer as much on straws or your bread on sandwiches or the rims of your glasses. like i said this is stickier than their colorbursts. bearing that in mind though, it's still quite easy to remove. much like the colorburst, it leaves your lips smooth and soothed.
the shade range, of course, it's revlon is quite extensive. which i'm happy to note that the importer of revlon to the philippines brought most of (the shades of this lip butter line, i mean) though i still object to them not bringing in ALL of the shades on their colorstay liquid foundation and mineral aqua, leaving our kayumangi women and women with deeper and warmer skin shades with very few revlon foundation options.

REVIEW: Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion with video review and application demo

As some of you may have deduced i'm on the mailing list of Laneige Philippines and I was advised that the latest on their snow bb line has made it to the Philippines. Naturally, i just had to get one!

3 shades the lightest for someone like my skin, something in the midldle and a third shade that the SA says can be used by women with kayumangi skin (the malay-indo skin shade, the light brown)

a liquid in a compact so you don't have to bring your liquid foundation in those glass bottles when traveling
a little product goes a very long way
good shade match
has not broken me out
coverage is medium to buildable to almost full coverage, excellent pore coverage
i need very little concealer when i use this either under my eye or on my scars
photographs well - DEPENDING ON YOUR FLASH this is not reflective, so a xenon flash would work anything less and well it will be reflective
does not cake up in the middle of the day
satin luminous finish but manages not to make me look oily when i already am oily LOL
lasts all day, around 10-12 hours (though the revlon colorstay liquid foundation lasts just a little bit longer by about 2 hours LOL)
does NOT rub off on the rim of my glasses, my phone, or my clothes.
oh no need to set, unless you're like me, oc oc hahaha

i really can't complain about the price, it's actually PhP300 less expensive here than the srp in SG

Dislikes:

just like the revlon colorstay liquid foundation, this is very difficult to remove. i use my cleansing oil and twice per cleansing routine, i then follow it up with a foaming cleanser and tone. just like the colorstay, it's possible you can swim with this snow bb cushion on your face and unless you rub your face? it won't come off!
it's a bitch to clean the sponge. the product seeps in the white part of the sponge provided. it's easy to clean the blue part of the sponge but not the white part of it

Do i recommend? well yeah?! duh? the travel convenience alone is its selling point, since it's SPF50 and PA of ++ you hit two birds with one stone you have your foundation and sun screen in one compact with mirror!

Red Lips! NYX In Perfect Red VS Lioele Dollish in Madonna Red - so last season!

sooooo last Christmas season! this post has been sitting on my blog unpublished bin since the holidays. but well, time flew, better late than never. so i was all over the red lips for fall last season. which explains the addiction to lipsticks which made me buy the nyx's which are really vivid and have an amazing color collection, not to mention really cheap. a good meal 3 course meal is more expensive than these nyx's. but as mentioned in my latest vid, i got a couple of Lioele's from Charmaine. One of which is this awesome madonna red

Once again, the only difference between the two is that one is more vivid than the other. and woah, it's the creamy semi matte Lioele Dollish Lipstick #10 Madonna Red. it's the same red, at least on my lips, only that the Lioele is more pigmented. wow, something is more pigmented than Nyx! i gotta admit, Mac's russian red is quite similar to this with just a little more blood stained, but the russian red kisses off, RIGHT AWAY. while these two, the lioele and nyx, doesn't come off until you eat a lot of lechon, even then you'd be left with a pair of tinted lips.

naturally, the people i asked couldn't tell the difference between my right and left lips.

i don't think there is a point of doing the table since they're super the same, except for the finish. the nyx is matte and the lioele is only semi matte.
the nyx is drying, but at least this time is it's in stick form and i can at least see how much i have of the product left. this nyx is drying but at least it doesn't accent the lines of my lips after about an hour the way the soft matte lip cream does.
this nyx is drying but at least it lasts on my lips even after i eat.
while the Lioele is just a dream, it lasts on my lips, doesn't dry my lips, in stick form, creamy to apply but it's not locally available yet and it's php495 even from kkochipida (so you can just imagine the markup from other enterprising online stores!) [kkochipida has very fair markup on her imports]
if i do go to Park Jung Min's fanmeet, i'll most likely wear the Lioele, of course!

COMPARATIVE REVIEW: SHU UEMURA CLEANSING OIL VS MY TONY MOLY BERRY BERRY CLEANSING OIL

There is only one other cleansing oil that i've used since i've started this journey with cosmetics and that's the Tony Moly Berry Berry Cleansing oil that i reviewed here. i bought that at around PhP800 in Bkk, a 200ml bottle. but with no pump dispenser.

Price	15.2 fl oz bottle generally retails for US$105 on amazon	wait for it... a whopping US$16!

Disclaimer:
i am not hating on Shu because i broke out, i super wanted that mousse foundation since you know it's kewl with the mousse and all, and it's cool on the skin because of chemistry and physics when dispensing a pressured liquid/gas colloid such as the mousse (hahahaha sorry nose bleed). this shu cleansing oil was initially developed for movie and possibly stage makeup. so the really really thick kind of makeup that ideally wont melt under bright lights. bearing that in mind, i don't need to wonder why the shu cleansing oil is very thick.
but as soon as i saw Tao's skin care 2011 review, and how she mentioned that she preferred the mac cleansing oil (not because she's a mac girl) but because of how heavy it feels, i then wanted to share my own experience now that i've actually used the celebrated shu cleansing oil.
the choice is entirely up to the consumer. if you live in a cold temperate country and your skin is dry, i think your skin will be better served by using the shu cleansing oil. but if you live in a tropical humid country like i do, and your skin is oily or oily combination then you'd want your skin care products to be as light yet as effective as they can be.
comparing the two cleansing oils, the light and the heavy, they clean long wearing makeup similarly, some foundation is left on the skin requiring me a to do a second round of massaging of the oil on my skin til i can no longer see any foundation on the tissue when i wipe my face.
it will also come down to your brand preference and budget. clearly the other one is less expensive while the other is high end is quite pricey for a cleansing oil with lots of competition.
well, that's my two cents worth.
over all, even with the break out and distance, the commute, i am very glad i got to experience shu uemura products. and glad to do have done so by paying for it rather than having the experience via a marketing event thru bloggers. that way no one can judge me with the reviews i've been writing on shu. i am merely sharing what i experienced.
do i recommend shu uemura products? why not? they have fantastic eye shadows, their foundation, at least the finish is awesome and woah their makeup tools! almost divine!

REVIEW: Shu Uemura Face Architect Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation

Some of you who follow my blog know that I took advantage of the deal grocer half off for basic makeup lessons from shu uemura. Last day of of our lessons posted here.
Although, part of the deal was a lifetime shu membership card, a ten percent discount on all items during the days we had class and the certificate, I didn't purchase any face products. I already have the shu bb under base with their limited edition packaging which I reviewed here. So my skin already has a history of reacting not so gently to their product. But the reaction I had was nothing compared to having the foundation on top of it! Behold the product, seemingly innocent in mousse form having a fantastic finish and only is it slightly reflective with a cam with a not so great flash.

and with flash, only looks slightly reflective.

But by thursday, so two days of using the mousse foundation (monday and wednesday) there is my face. For something US$45ish, for a high end foundation, this is what happens.

And yes, bonga to the major major babad ng snail cream to repair the damage. Yep, I will only recommend using the shu when you're having a really important event and not for daily use. At least for women with skin like mine.

DISCLAIMER: just because it didn't work out for me doesn't mean it won't work out for you. And who can't help but love the finish and glowy and natural effect. I love the medium coverage, too, you can still see your skin and therefore you don't look like you're w wearing a mask. So yeah, I'm pretty bummed I couldn't, can't, and shouldn't get this.

Tomorrow, I'll review their cleansing oil. Yeah yeah, I've read how fantastic the foundation is on other women, so clearly those women have different skin compared to mine, bummer.

Last Day of My Shu Uemura Basic Makeup Classes

While we had class, we had a 10% discount on anything in the store. and well, you may be wondering why i didn't get any face products? my review on the shu uemura bb underbase here should give you an idea.
i super duper can't wait to use that foundation brush. homay, it's goat hair divinely soft, can't wait to show it to you on my channel...soon

Today was level three with a review of what we learned last wednesday, the day time look with just two shadows and an accent with glitters. from this look we should be able to move on to a night time look, the smokey eye.

so we have the base, then the base, then the outer V. but the trainer, Sharon, said to apply a black shade. regardless of what complimenting color we apply on our lids, we should apply a black shade for depth. so the picture below depicts from top to bottom the order in which we were taught to apply the shadows. She used their midnight blue gel liner on my lash line, but used the dark sparkly blue, applied wet, to be the liner on my lower lash line. the left eye is where the trainer demonstrated the look i had to replicate on my other eye.

and on my right eye, here's my version. mukha namang pantay hahaha

it's just that my eyes are super asymmetric to begin with.

so more smokey eye looks on this blog and my channel soon? probably hahaha ;-)

and one of our petite mom's lovely eyes spruced up with one of the wonderful shu uemura lashes ;-) great for beefing up the smokey eye look and awesome for an evening event.

our last day together. i super enjoyed meeting these ladies. a wonderful mix of moms, a derma and a makeup artist! Lala we missed you today... at may singit na eklaterang frog na kpop fan na ang hobby ay makeup hahaha

yep, definitely, i've learned yet another way of applying foundation, and that animal hair can be used for cream and liquid foundations...thus i bought that goat hair foundation brush.

i've learned that a glitter shadow can spruce up the dullest of eye makeups...which i will definitely get one of these days.

i've also learned that a black shadow can definitely add the definition and depth to a smokey eye.

i've also learned that this first friday the thirteenth our first unlucky event. our certificates and lifetime shu uemura phils membership cards didn't make it in time for our little graduation. so we have to come back and pick them up separately, kinda made our last day sorta anti climactic.

How I clean my brushes

Just a quick post from my phone ^-^

I was asked on my facebook page how I clean my brushes, specifically the baby doll puff. And so I answered rather simply, I use my makeup removers.

For synthetic brushes and for animal hair I use either oil based or water based facial cleansers, shampoo and conditioner. Simply because, hey, if these products clean my hair and face why wouldn't they clean my stuff? I also don't put too much stock in separate brush cleaners when they are just watered down makeup removers anyway. My way saves me space.

I soak the baby doll sponge (etude house's beauty blender) in water and wash or squeeze the water with facial cleanser (either facial wash foam or a water based liquid lip and eye makeup remover). I do that until I don't see the color of the foundation squeeze out of the sponge. If I'm oc my final step for the sponge is to wash it with liquid anti bacterial hand wash.

I do the same procedure to my brushes. I use conditioner after shampooing the animal hair to return any oils I've washed off from the animal hair. I also use conditioner on the animal hair to get rid of the goat butt scent nearly all these animal hair brushes have. Oh ha, ako na ang naka amoy na ng pwet ng kambing o,O

I hang my brushes the way you see in the pic, that way the water that I wasn't able to squeeze out would drip down to the brush rather than collect in the ferule to keep it from rusting and unraveling the glue that keeps the brush stuck to its handle.

For spot cleaning, I just get tissue and spray alcohol on it and gently rub the brush to and fro, left and right. Once I see the tissue with make up on it I let the alcohol on the brush evaporate.

Day Two of Learning - Shu Uemura Classes via Deal Grocer

Yey, day two. more on eye makeup today. (you can read my first day of class blog entry, here)

The other day we learned to apply and blend out just one dark shade on our eye lids, regardless of eye lid type we were. Today, though, we learned how to apply a second and third shade for accent and high light.
below is the all over shade, the lightest one.

then we learned how to properly apply the outer-V shade and to blend it out with just to use of our finger tips, preferably our ring finger tip.

ideally after applying the accent, the glitter on the middle of the eyelid, the highest point of your eyeball, then just spread out a bit, the model's right eye below is what your work should look like.

here's my version of it. i used violet and a taupy middle shade and a really earthy chocolate brown on my outer most V. violet, my safe shade for smokey hahaha i should learn to explore more colors LOL.

yeah i'm falling in love with that glitter shade. it can accent and make your dullest eye shadow look vibrant!

though i am finding out i am just not head over heels in love with their foundation, specially the mousse one. i'll try to review that, if i can.
If last monday we had the privilege of having John Pagaduan as our instructor, today we had Patrick. someone just as lively and honestly more keen on following the curriculum.

NATURE REPUBLIC BLOOM KISS OR301 VS NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM in MILAN

Some of you may have read on my previous post visiting nature republic at the sm north the block, 4th level - here. well i've since gone back and actually did the rest of my Christmas shopping there. i got this on my first visit. because in real life it looks like a blue kinda baby pink that's kinda soft. it just so happen my cam and the lighting made it salmon kinda looking.

it has a satin glossy finish. but when i wore it the other day it really reminded me of milan. though on the swatches, you'd wonder why.

so on the lips, the only difference is the finish.

and here's the side by side comparison. (note that underneath both lip products i applied a thin coat of my lipstick base reviewed here and a thin application of my lip concealer reviewed here to make sure that the real shades of both lip products would come out)

Dude, i'm not hating Nyx ok? i like how intense the shades are, i like the price i just don't get what the big deal is. this is like my 3rd comparative review? and clearly there are other lippies out there. and just cuz it has amazing color and it's way cheap doesn't warrant the hullabaloo. these soft matte lip creams cake up after about an hour or two on the lips, so you end up applying gloss to spread the pigment around and touch it up. so what the hell is the point of it being matte if you're gonna have to apply gloss on top of it to keep it looking fresh?
i had the revlon colorstay ultimate liquid lipstick my review of which is here same consistency/formula where the cream or in that case the liquid lipstick's pigment/product won't stay put when your applying it on the lips then when it does set, it REALLY sets, so when you move your lips when you speak, it cracks what you applied, oh ha ano ito clay? i actually liked the revlon even if a gazillion people hate it. the revlon didn't tell me it was matte, all the publicity about that was just about having one application, the color and balm in one (rather than having the double ended gloss and tint or color).
I'm getting a lot of questions from our fangirl teens on what makeup to buy but at a cheap price. naturally, there's only uber inexpensive brand i always say, clue, it's a brand endorsed by Dara. But at least now we have other choices such as Nature Republic.
True that the nyx is really cheap, but at around 300 then you buy a lip balm or gloss at let's say 95 na nivea, why not just get one lip product that's actually priced at 400?? less stuff for you to put in your kit pa.
so dude, i'm not hating on nyx, i'm just presenting facts as i see them.
Like they say, you get what you pay for...very little product in a tiny tube that you can't see if you have anything left in there, and the cracked finish, not to mention the chapped lips after a day of wearing the nyx.
So yeah, Korean this Korean that, left and right...and why not? for a little more all you have to do is go to a mall and there you have your options at least 7 (to 9) brands that have a kiosks and shops in our malls in the metro.
if you like western products then by all means. if you like nyx then prepare more than 300ish since you will need a good lip balm to use in conjunction with the soft matte lip cream.
do i like this nature republic bloom kiss? well it's not the best, it's like the revlon colorburst in carnation, exactly the same, even the pigmentation is just as sheer. just that the colorburst is a tad more expensive than this NP bloom kiss (revlon, locally that is).
for our young ladies who just want a sheer wash of color on their lips, this or301 is just right for you. it's your lips only better kind of shade ;-)

First Day of Class

Finally, I'll have some certification on what little I know. Naturally, I chose an asian brand to learn with.

My classmates are varied, from a doctor to two moms to a makeup artist who finds it difficult to apply makeup on her own face and a balikbayan.

Our teacher is very sweet and into kpop, yeah baby the ice is quickly broken!

The travel wore me out, yeah power plant is as far as makati I'd go lol.

Can't wait for wednesday :-)

here is the product description and in english. yeah, i laugh at free gift. gift nga eh, eh di free talaga (so why say it pa)

and what it looks like. a glorious white sorta translucent cream. very pleasant smelling.

so layered it looks white but a thin coat reveals that it's quite translucent.

I am doing this because it's one of the least expensive brands out there so it is quite budget friendly even for our students that are merely on allowance. and it was requested by a youtube subscriber, Nikki95ism1.

for the face i applied the precious mineral bb cream.

i didn't use any concealer anymore. i would advice ladies with dark under eye circles to apply concealer and if you have scars you wish to hide then you can use concealers.

I posted this video before the year started and it shows you how i applied the makeup.

but for those who haven't found my channel yet, i'm posting this blog entry hopefully my instructions are detailed enough. but if you have clarifications, feel free to leave a comment below on the disqus box ;-)
all of the eye shadows are from etude house and is numbered accordingly as to where i applied them on my eyes.
mascara is also optional. knowing young ladies, you just can't help but rub your eyes, so i would not advice for you to apply mascara anymore to avoid smearing and smudging off your mascara.

apply the proof 10 eye primer all over your eye lid and even your lower lid
apply the ivory colored eye shadow all over your lid up to below your eye brow
apply the old rose pink shade on your eye lid but only up to your eye socket (the middle part of your lid)
and for liner, apply the chocolate dark shade on your upper and lower lash line.
mascara is optional.
and for blush i used their tangerine line cream choux #2, this is super similar to Clinique's cupid #justsayin
and lastly apply a natural beige-y lipstick or gloss

and the finished look

and this light makeup can be seen even under glasses.

and it's office appropriate, not overly made up.

Etude House Vip Girl Darling Lips OR206 vs Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp

The VIP Girl Darling Lips in OR206, for the life of me i do not know why it's not listed on the etude house website but the two other shades are the 205 and 207 LOL. i've had this for a while, it's a nice warm bright pink. and you guessed it when i saw it again while cleaning and organizing my stuff, it sorta reminded me of antwerp.

once again on the lips, the etude house seem more '3d' merely because it has an almost glossy finish while the nyx is matte, so medyo flat.so on the right (my right) is the nyx soft matte lip cream in antwerp while on the left (my left) is the etude house vip girl darling lips in or206

from afar with natural sunlight, and lots of it...

and below also with natural sunlight but obscured by bldgs.

Depending on your brand loyalty and effect you'd like on your lips, it is up to you which of these lippies you'd apply on your lips.
there are many many sellers online for Nyx now but i get my stuff from Digital Traincase as her store is very convenient for me to get to.
Naturally, if you ask me, i would prefer the etude house one simply because it doesn't dry me out. it doesn't look flat on my lips and and it's in stick form. i actually see how much product i have left. while the packaging of the nyx doesn't allow for me to find out if i still have any product left in the tube =(
i really really like the antwerp shade though, of the ones i have, it's istanbul and antwerp i really like. with san paolo a far far third. milan is just way too cool on my lips for me to like on me, maybe if i tanned my skin, milan would look good on me? but that will never happen.
will i repurchase? i might purchase the 205 when oranges come back in season LOL
do i recommend? i still recommend the wannabe color my lips line from etude house, a little more expensive but creamier on the lips than the vip girl darling lips hahaha

REVIEW: KOJI DOLLY WINK LONG MASCARA

yey, i finally got me a dolly wink! fuzkittie says the eyeliner is the bomb!

so i grabbed the thing soon as i saw these at sasa. around p700ish, not a bad deal considering there's a mascara AND A liquid eyeliner. so i got the eyeliner because that's what i was after. and ohh LOL the eye liner was the free item and so i bought the mascara. hehehe

and here it is, what i bought. nice and pink.

i actually like the brush tip applicator on this thing. it's not too thick, and not too thin. this isn't a fiber wig. and the formula is also not too thin and not too thick. even after almost a month's use it hasn't gone thick.

these are my lashes without mascara

and with a couple of coats of the koji dolly wink. kinda clumpy. all it did was put my lashes' tips together and blacken my lashes.

i guess it gave some length. emphasis on some.

it flakes off when you clean it off.

i am not hopelessly in love with this mascara. not at all. it's like any mascara in the market. i even prefer my old the body shop divide and multiply. my review is here, yep that's me hathor2 a long time ago on epinions.

Scrub vs Scrub Tony Moly vs Skin Food - Tony Moly Latte Art Capuccino Cream-in Scrub vs Skin Food Black Sugar Scrub Foam

I'm probably the laziest person when it comes to skin care. i prefer to have my skin care in one product. and not to have a gazillion steps like say hehehe fuz. scrubs and peels that need to be done once or twice a week get done like once or twice a month hahaha. but here i am testing out a couple of scrubs.
Thanks to Kkochipida, i get to try this black sugar scrub foam and below is what it looks like.

and it spreads out evenly and it has a great deal of beads. this scrub is rough, not as rough as my lush coal face but this one from skin food is way way beady. someone who has oily combination skin like myself appreciate it. someone who has very thin and dry skin would get hurt with this scrub though. this smells like a combination of irish spring, dial white and a little toilet duck. so yeah, it smells really soapy.

but for those who do have dry and thin skin may be better served with something like this.

it has far less beads and isn't a foam. however it is easier to rinse off than skin food's sugar scrub.

The choice now comes down to skin type, brand loyalty and climate. had i been in a colder climate and less humid the moisturizing effect of the latte cappuccino cream in scrub would be better even if i have oily to combination skin. but since i'm in a tropical country that has many humid days, the black sugar foam scrub would be best to take out all the grime we get on the streets that end up sticking to our faces because of the humidity.
price-wise, i think skin food is cheaper considering the amount you get in the tube of the full size BUT you'd have to order that online to get that scrub for that price. while if you get the tony moly one, it's right at mega or many other sm mall branches. so it's convenient, this convenience is already factored in that srp. also factored in that php580 srp for tony moly is the tax and their cost of shipping the item. where as if you order online you have to shoulder the full cost of shipping and you need to wait at least 14 working days before your product gets to you or depending on your pre order cut off.
all these things one considers weighing the options when ordering online or just buying from the mall.
as you know i would go for the online shopping only if the item is significantly less. i would say a 500 peso or more savings on an item is a fair deal to wait for an item to be shipped directly to your shipping address. but if you can't wait and the mall is that much more convenient for your AND THE IMPORTER'S MARK UP is only about p200-300 then i'd go for just buying the item at the mall.
it also helps online transactions if you have credit cards which a lot of people don't have. and if you're familiar with smart money, gcash (which wow a lot of people are still not too familiar with after all these years) and if you have paypal.
why did i go there? like discuss the virtues of online shopping vs going to the mall? well some people do not work near malls and some like myself find some companies srp's to be too high on items that are being sold for only half the price s...f..d is selling their stuff. so there is an alternative...online shopping. go for it!
will i get any of these two full size? i may just get the skin food one for myself while i'll get the tony moly one for my mom. (i have thicker oily combination skin while she has thinner dryer skin).

Organizing today

Just a quick post from my phone. Since the vacation started, I've been throwing out old shoe boxes, paper bags, receipts, bills, score cards from 2 jobs back, from as far back as 2007. Yeah, yeah I am in a word, unwell. :-P

the 2nd thing I bought this year was this japanese desk-drawer. Some dude got to the brown one of these ahead of me but I got this one anyway even if it won't go with the brown drawers I already have.

I got a pencil/pens paper clip thingie drawer organizer, too.

Lol, took me the entire a afternoon and a little of this evening to throw out, separate, and, choose the stuff I'd put in in the new drawer. But here I am. And yep, I was able to throw out even more paper bags that have been accumulating under this vanity for two years!
Oh ngayon, teh Marge, eh hangang kelan naman kaya maayos yan???

The Best and Not so...from 2011 and a couple of Surprises - from Skincare to Makeup see what i gave repeat business to and what i will swear off

It's gonna be 2012 in a few hours. and unlike last year, i'm just gonna post one long entry on the best of 2011 and the not so. let me begin with the not so that way we can dispense with any bv or nega and end on a high note, shall we? below are few items i just ended up no longer using.
from left to right on the first pic below. let's begin.

The Victoria Jackson survival kit - though initially a love because of the swiss army knife idea behind the travel worthy makeup kit, my blog entry on it here. as time went on. i just noticed that the eye shadows were just so powdery and not creamy to apply as my majolica majorca shadows. and even with the ellana eye primer the shadows still oxidized on my eyes. the lip products dried out my lips and were too sheer, and blushes were too dark and were also oxidizing on my cheeks. the liner pencil smudged and smeared. the mascara was pretty decent though. and the lip liner was nice, too those i kept on using.
the Etude house AC Clinic White Trouble Bubble Cleanser and the AC Clinic Pink Powder Spot patch the bubble cleanser can't clean off stuff from my face, and the pink powder spot patch didn't do anything for me.
the closeup fire freeze dual sensation - yung condo... este toothpaste. that just broke me out, nuff said. si jowa ang umubos while i bought another tube of colgate toothpaste
the body shop's band wagon hopping product - their bb cream the shiso white - this is better for normal to dry skin and for those who have the budget for it. it's too expensive for the amount of product you get.
ang walang kamatayang the face shop hydrosplash bb cream (sorry not shown in the picture) - it just didn't work out for me. so i gave it to my mom who has dry skin.
the in2it - mascara, the ball type tip, can you say clump?
and finally Nyx - the matte stuff - disclaimer - i dislike applying too much stuff on my lips so i don't like applying a separate lip balm before or after the application of a lip product (which is why i fell in love with the skin food's fresh cream color fit with spf12 which was balmy, super color payoff, and had spf) so apart from the fantastic color payoff and cheap prices for nyx i'll have to swear these off. they are just too drying and ayoko ko ngang kung ano anong anik anik ang pinapatong pa sa lips once na may lipstick na ko.

PHEWWWW! good vibes now LOL
so for bb creams - i have below 3. a high end, a mid range and something not available in the country hahaha syyet. the laneige bb cream is wonderful specially for a date, very luminous, the l'egere is also luminous and very long lasting AND ACTUALLY HELPS WITH healing my zits. while for a matte finish the expert triple from Tony Moly is my go to. it lasts all day, helps with my oils, has spf45 and pa+++

for foundation. a low and high end. not to mention a day and night time one. both are available in the philippines. for night, i recommend the laneige. it gives such a flawless, luminous almost ethereal finish. oh ha, no, not Cullen-esque but more like the elves in the lord of the rings! while for day it's kate's mineral liquid foundation i recommend. it's easy to apply, travel friendly packaging. and on the matte side

while for setting powder and concealer. y'all know, if you follow my blog, that my colorstay aqua can make the dullest of bb creams look fantastic on my skin with just one light handed swipe hahaha exag. while for the revlon age defying concealer. ay Dios mio, last year pa yan, still going strong!

and my fave blushes. nars'?? naaaah, pahabol of the year. see there's the orgasm and angelica with albatross already! comes with a really soft brush, too.

the etude house proof 10 eye primer wow, this is lasting me a long time and because of this. it gave me a 2nd look at my kate brown collection pallet below! the i'm fine eye liner, though i'm not a fan of the uber long brush tip, i like how black it is yet easy to remove unlike my lioele. and of course, the soft touch auto lipliner! this thing lasts and lasts and it takes major brushing of the lips to remove this from your lips LOL

my favorite eye pallets. leaning towards the wearable natural looking on the girly pink side, these are my best. and my surprise. i had given a not so great review on the kate brown collection here but i was using a less than superior eye primer. when i started using my proof 10 eye primer, the pink no longer turned salmony oxidized pink and stayed the nice pink that it is as you see it in the pan. and my tony moly romantic khaki triple dome baked shadow great for travel, nice pigmentation, great for daytime. and of course from day to night, my lunasol in soft beige from the 2011 fall collection. i love how with just one pallet you can spruce up your daytime look to a smokey night time look! and of course the creaminess of the shadows goes without saying!

another japanese product. hahaha yes, i'm crossing the pond. from kate, to lunasol but of course one of my first was majolica majorca. my lash expander frame plus. this thing just keeps going and going. yes, buhay pa sya. though a tad dryer but still easy to work with none the less! now this gives my lashes length and volume. my lashes are the type that can be applied fiber wig on, so this works for me.

after my not so great experience with the chapping of my lips with nyx. i must admit, nagalit ako sa sarili ko for getting envious only to have my lips chapped severely. so i swung the pendulum sobrang the other way and here i am. addicted to laneige. in manila these are not as expensive as buying a mac lipstick, #justsayin. these lipsticks are super pigmented. very soothing on the lips WITHOUT giving me that gunk of product at the entrance of my mouth (the inner part of the lips) the way that clinique thing did to my lips before. so i am super happy with these purchases, no matter the cost, hindi naman nasaktan ang lips ko at hindi uminit ang ulo ko sa sarili ko ring kagaguhan. in short huwag padalos dalos porke maganda sa lips ng ibang bloggers, Marge, hindi ibig sabihini maganda rin sa iyo. hahaha

and removers. of course i need to mention, my face savers the face shop wipes and the makeup eraser from tony moly and etude house's mascara be gone!

they just make makeup removal so much easier and i can rest easy on my pillow in the knowledge my makeup won't be on the pillow the next morning!

and since my lips got all chapped and all, tony moly's lip scrub was there to the rescue!

and the pahabol extra's this year, the etude house beauty blender! the etude house mini anti germ hand lotion homay, wala bang biggy size! lol

and another surprise last entry the wannabe color my lips! homayghad it's super creamy AND DIDNT' chap my lips ;-) the color payoff is fantastic, too!

as mentioned earlier, skin food's fresh cream color fit with spf12 nearly has everything i would like in a lipstick, balmy, yet awesome color payoff and with spf. so yeah naturally this would make the list, at pahabol, too!

and as for skin care, y'all know i went all gahgah over snail creams. thanks to the skin shop. this snail cream is 90% mucin and it's great for my oily to combination skin and has a pump! my current snail cream is nearly as awesome. it is only less awesome because it has no pump, but otherwise super great in healing and preventing my zits. the missha one helped me clear away the battle scars from using that closeup fire freeze dual sensation. separate review on the missha one soon.

and for the hair. i love love these. they keep my hair from breaking and the lush shampoo bar is getting me new hair growth!

and still on lush. of course, i love my big! it's just makes my hair soft and fluffy! i just hate the lid, the sea salts gets in the way of me closing it properly. ahhh my all time favorite american cream. vanilla scented hair, what's not to like? i asked for a vanilla scented body wash, since i hardly get any scent from honey i washed the kids, so i was given it's raining men! i love both scents of american cream and it's raining men. big's scent is nice too, very lady like.

and finally...2012
what i'm looking forward to reviewing. the face shop's arsainte eco therapy super gel. i'm thinking water sleeping pack when i see that. a nature republic bb cream, etude house soda tablets, laneige renewal skin care line, a nature republic clay mask wow from israel, ahava ishtatyu? :P eh's aqua cure, since i'm thinking laneige water sleeping pack. and oooh something a little new from eh, the black head heating gel thing.

My Third Year attending the Philippine Kpop Convention!

Just as the other day, i have come to back to ortigas because i was to attend an event. hahaha while i wait for the mall and the event to start i hang near rob LOL...well free airconditioning and a chair! LMAO. but it was time to head on down to the last event of 2011. the 3rd annual kpop convention.

Once again, with Gawad Kalinga, we have our con. this year's GK booth was much bigger to accept people's donations for the victims of Sendong (Typhoon Washi) in Cagayan De Oro.

having dropped off mine and theBenj's donations, i look around and see, and i couldn't believe that after 3 years the clamor for this Korean popular culture is still as or even hotter today than when they first started in the Philippines! kudos to the fans!
and speaking of hot. maaayghad, dear megatent, your so called aircons where just not enough.
though sparkling magazine will have a new issue out soon with kara and what's left of tvxq on the cover, their standee today is still of dear leader.

now of course, i would take notice of all things TOP and big bang! i was on double duty today. my hero T was still down with the flu. i'm glad she didn't go, her condition might have gotten worse had she mustered up the strength and gone to the event!

most of the fanclubs idolizing groups older than 3-4 years old were there.

there were also stores selling 'official merch'

and well, novelty items...hahaha parang supernatural lang noh? ang daming driver's lic at iba ibang i.d. hahahaha

awwww a special place in my heart after i had seen beast perform at the araneta last year...boy can these youngins sing LIVE!

and of course, the reason why i went to Sg last july! hay standee palang gwapo na

i keep reminding myself that i'm a member of bigbang phil, i just forget to be active hahaha. i've signed up like 3-4x already LOLs

and these guys, of course we know them, they endorse Etude House AND sang one of the songs on the Boys over Flowers soundtrack!

2AM...i actually enjoyed their little performance in libis this year. super awesome balladeers!

awwww 4minute. super cute! i liked them since i saw them live at sm megamall. wow has it been almost two years already?

FTI! twice already i've seen FTI, once in manila and once at Singapore. just a good band! yes, with instruments ;-) baviphat, hehehe of course something beauty related :P

eeeeep! of course may picture ng booth of my 2nd home. the ladies that adopted me when i was lost. or shall i say lost the key to my previous fandom home. the triple s and now the henecians always have an open door for me. thank you so much. i love you so dearly!

more kawai stuff. uys si kuya nag labas ng industrial fan. wala ba yung industrial fan yung sa simbahan? yung silver na malaki na halos di mo na marinig yung pari sa lakas ng motor ng fan na iyon? to think ha, paki puna po. ang laki ng hinagulpak na a/c sa likod ni manong, ganumpaman sya ay nag labas parin ng sariling electric fan. phffft.

FINALLY REAL KOREANS. yep a mom and pop shop (well bit bit naman nila anak nila to help out) yep a mom and pop shop. in their progressiveness, they have managed to keep that practice/tradition. parang mga italiano nung araw sa america. with their pizzeria...mom and pop shop pizzeria. but somehow updated din naman, seeeeee, hallyu stuff ang kanilang bentahin. and good quality stuff, printed in Thailand and Viet Nam, and for inexpensive prices! pinoy printers have their work cut out for them to bring their prices down yet have print with good quality by golly!

so nagikot, nakipag chikahan at nagkapic moment kami ni Monica...awwww sorry ginulat ba kita with my meso beso? kinikilig ako when someone recognizes me eh hahaha, oh ha me alreydee!
naturally, naubos ko ang baon kong pera. to think di na ko nag lunch nyan ha?! hahaha so yeah, i'm up to my eyeballs in calendars. waaahoo!

haaaay, i know malapit nga ang megatent, but wow, i really, i prefer last year's venue kung ganon naman ang aircon, halos nonexistent. naawa naman ako sa mga organizers, natural they thought it would be cold enough eh di naman puno yung venue ng tao nung nag-ocular sila. and it was poorly lit ha. isang light bulb lang per fanclub tent? malamang isang paris rin lang ng outlet ang binigay.
ang hirap talaga. sana next time ma-goyo natin ang mga tao ng rockwell or ng nbc tent para dun naman, gitna parin but with better airconditioning!
once again i ended up missing my girls.

Etude House Limited Edition Collection-what i received and bought

So some of you who follow my facebook page here and is a subscriber of my youtube channel here would know that i've been sent wonderful Christmas presents. THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THOSE ARE LIMITED EDITION. so naturally, i had to get the other items from the limited edition hahaha, or hoard. LOL. below is what i bought on Dec. 28, the other day. so i got another of those dual ended gloss and perfume, in wanna touch. a lipstick in chic beige and a couple of look at my eyes eye shadows.

this is the chocolate brown i used in my upcoming natural look tutorial. i like this chocolate brown. it really reminds me of the brown in my lunasol pallet and it's nearly as creamy to apply, too! i'll do a comparative review once i get the pink one of this.

A closer look. i got 5 nail laquers, the party queen set. it's for gradation nail art. and the wannabe color my nails, complete with nail art stickers.

i just can't super can't tell you how much i love the scent on that dual ended thing. a lip gloss on one end a roller perfume on the other. they say the scent is floral musk. floral musk, sounds like an oxymoron don't you think? but that's what they said it is. now if you intend to buy this, just look for the peachy pink shade of lip gloss and you'll get the same one sent to me, the wanna love. and of course the wonderful so hot pink #1 from the wannabe color my lips line. and the wannabe shine finish pact and highlighter

and here's what the pact looks like. this smells really faint but really nice and ladylike.

and oh they sent me this. a body and hair perfume! naloka naman ako pwede sa hair. well, all perfume is ok for the hair every once in a while. just not too often because it is after all alcohol. but the box says this world traveler minime, etude house's version of the harajuku.

and hmmm i like the fact that it says it will last 36 mos upon opening LOL. it smells like lemmon, and a little of dayap and a little of dalanghita/dalandan? hahaha i'm so bad at describing scents.

This has been such a wonderful season for Christmas gifts. i can only hope i do Etude House justice in my description of their items i falling in love with everyday. i so loved their wannabe color my lips that i bought chic beige! i love the creamy texture and how pigmented they really are. AND THEY DON'T DRY MY LIPS OUT.
