	<title>Kill Rock Stars Video Podcast</title>
	<link>http://krs5rc.com/podcast</link>
<description>Kill Rock Stars is an independent record label founded in 1991 by Slim Moon and based in Olympia, WA. Originally intended to release spoken word seven inches under the \'wordcore\' moniker, it quickly expanded to become a punk rock rock and roll label thru the release of a compilation, some rock seven inches, and albums and EPs. The first bands \'on\' Kill Rock Stars included Unwound, Witchypoo, Bikini Kill, and Huggy Bear. Unlike all major labels and many indie labels, profit is not our primary motivation. Kill Rock Stars is dedicated to releasing high quality meaningful recordings in a manner that is fair and respectful to the artists. The system that makes rock stars wants us to believe that we have no choices except the handful they give us but they don\\\'t even bother to give us good choices, just lame ones. KRS just wants to give you some good stuff to listen to that actually means something to counteract the empty and boring stuff you see on TRL or whatever.</description>

In 2005 Peter Broderick heard two songs that Justin had recorded in a friend's basement, and proceeded to track Justin down via the internet. Shortly after that, the two started playing music together. For the most part, Justin writes the songs initially, and then Peter helps to arrange them with varying instrumentation. In the later half of 2006 more people began to join the live show.On this podcast- Horse Feathers Live- The Interview</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>From Wikipedia: "Xiu Xiu (pronounced shoe-shoe) is an experimental indie band originally from and currently based in San Francisco, California, with time often spent in Seattle, Washington. The band is the sonic brainchild of singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart, who has been its only constant member since its inception. His current bandmates are his cousin, Caralee McElroy and experimental percussionist Ches Smith (7 Year Rabbit Cycle, Good for Cows, Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3). Xiu Xiu are also, on occasion, joined by Cory McCulloch, who has also produced several of their albums. Past members include Lauren Andrews, Yvonne Chen, Sam Mickens and Jherek Bischoff. Some, including McCulloch, have played in previous bands with Stewart such as Ten in the Swear Jar and IBOPA. The band's name is taken from the 1998 Chinese film Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl directed by Joan Chen."

<itunes:summary>We are pleased to present clips from The Decemberists: A Practical Handbook, the new DVD featuring the documentary film Paris Before the War; a live recording from the Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon on November 4, 2005; music videos; illustrations by Carson Ellis, the band's artist-in-residence; out-takes; and all sorts of other little details worth poring over.

From Wikipedia:
"The Decemberists are a five-piece indie pop band from Portland, Oregon, fronted by singer/songwriter Colin Meloy. Named both in reference to the Russian Decembrist Revolt and to the atmosphere associated with the month of December[1], the Decemberists write songs that range from upbeat pop to instrumentally lush ballads, and often employ instruments like the accordion, hammond organ, Wurlitzer organ, and upright bass. In their lyrics, they eschew the angst and introspection common to modern rock, instead favoring a storytelling approach, as evidenced in songs such as "My Mother Was A Chinese Trapeze Artist" from the 5 Songs EP and "The Mariner's Revenge Song" on Picaresque. Their songs convey tales ranging from whimsical ("Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect") to epic ("The Tain") to truly dark ("Odalisque"). They often invoke historical events and themes from around the world. Early in their career, The Decemberists' musical and lyrical aesthetics frequently prompted critics to compare them to Neutral Milk Hotel. Since their debut, their sound has undergone a consistent evolution, most notably in the direction of progressive rock with a strong folk influence, though they have also been described as indie rock and, by Stephen Colbert, as "hyper-literate prog rock"."

<itunes:summary>Her debut record, In Advance of the Broken Arm, is culled from songs written by herself in her bedroom over a two-year period, with production and drum work by Hella's Zach Hill. Her songs are of the earth, birthed in an organic process where the finished product is much more striking than the individual parts: created in solitude, the songs contain a staggering number of layers, each one winding its way around the others, then counterpointed by Marnie's feminine, echoing, powerful vocals. Despite the artful pretensions of some of her influences, Marnie's lyrics are her secret weapon... every line has an understated elegance floating above the mindnumbingly complex guitar work. What makes Marnie better than any of the other hundreds of nameless and faceless tech guitar wizards is her uncanny ability to somehow transform the most complicated guitar acrobatics into beautiful and concise 3 minute pop songs. Hers is an inspired, forward-moving art that you can take home to mom, and play for your kid sister. In Advance of the Broken Arm transcends any gimmicky "recluse" label because it is so present and immediate, and is certainly the most vibrant, original, empowering, and groundbreaking record released in a long time.

"Are You Wigglin?" is the follow up to 2003's cult classic "Hello Doctor", a record entirely about food and sex. For this album, they ditched their former "chipmunk rap" sound and moved on to a sound that is a mix of bubblegum, punk, rock n roll, comedy, new wave and pure pop.

THE NO-NECK BLUES BAND
Qvaris CD

To name is to reveal: it is the inevitable clue. Our only hope lies in ignoring them, in order that they may ignore us. - Algernon Blackwood, "The Willows"

Improvisation, over time, yields access to substratum vistas of altogether unseen colouration. This is characteristic of a place in which our music occurs. It may be heard simultaneously here on earth, it may be heard now in the future in surround-sound, DVD audio, via light pipe, etc. But due to its place of origin, it reaches us here without translation, solely as echoes sounding from an immaterial world. Not unlike the radio dish tuned into Space, hoping to catch some intergalactic communique, wersquo;ve assumed responsibility for broadcasting the atmosphere surrounding the other intelligences combined among us.

There is a psychic constituency from which any hierarchy taking responsibility for the conveyance of the unseen is drawn. And much has been done to co-opt and commodify such conveyance as to deliberately mingle its allure with intentions and agendas of this world. What results is a powerful controlling current. One which, if harnessed with precision, can create personality, replace consciousness, become existence at its receiving end. This pull, this energizing current has permeated much of the imagination, establishing ever increasing common ground betwixt folksexperiencing-mdash;and beginning to recognizemdash;unreality. NNCK follows suit. So here, undiluted and without an accompanying agenda, is Qvaris for itrsquo;s own sake. A slice of life, though not necessarily human life. It is finding your mind as we speak.

When a moment is hanging on the edge you must be listening. Listen now for the Difference and the Sameness. They are near.

There is nothing better than oblivion, since in oblivion there is no wish unfulfilled. We had it before we were born, yet did not complain. Shall we then whine because we know it will return? - H.P. Lovecraft "In Defense of Dagon"

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the group's name is derived from Sleater-Kinney Road, Interstate 5 offramp #108 in Lacey, Washington, the location of one of their early practice spaces.

She is an entertainer and songwriter who has pulled audiences to their feet worldwide with her politically charged and personally wrenched lyrics, her atypical instrumentation, minimalist sound and wildly dramatic stage persona. Setting out on a new solo road, Bitch is following her vision of making music that is symphonic, beatworthy, break your heart balladry, and raise the roof revolutionary.

<itunes:summary>The melodic pound of Two Ton Boarsquo;s grinding, dual-bass sound is the invention of Sherry Fraser. Classically trained on Oboe, English Horn, and assorted baroque recorders, vocalist Fraser fell in love with the bass and composed over 50+ tapes of material on a four track. Overcoming a dread of exposure that kept her music hidden for years, she played her first show as Two Ton Boa while living in Olympia. WA. Slim Moon at Kill Rock Stars quickly took Fraserrsquo;s beast onboard. Fraserrsquo;s gift of songwriting has enabled her to compose and arrange all musical parts for Two Ton Boa: basses, vocals, keyboards, banjolele, chord organ, and more.

They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is an 8 piece band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Their debut album Boo Hoo Hoo Boo was released on the Kill Rock Stars label February 21, 2006. Their startling energetic live shows have won them listeners and even dancers throughout Canada where they have shared the stage with bands like The Unicorns and Xiu Xiu. They have a distinctive noisy oompa sound thanks to a horn section. The band has been compared to the likes of Danielson Famile, Captain Beefheart and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282. Lyrical themes of desperation, betrayal and hardship are brought to interesting light in this overly joyful jittery music.

<itunes:summary>The Observer stares out from the cover of the CD -- not a mere subject. The photo on the cover is a continuation of the watercolour self-portrait series I began as teenager. The self-portraits continue thirty years later in photos -- most of which appear on Internet dating websites with my nickname Sexullectual, whose profile reads:

ME: Not here for random sex or one night stands. I'm 5'3" 105 lb. Non-drinker. I have a sense of humour and a positive outlook. I don't have kids, pets or a car. Intending to establish an ongoing connection based on a mutual agreement, communication and respect.
YOU: 100% SINGLE non-smoker, non-drinker (preferably), with a car. No drugs. 38 - 49. You live alone -- no children or teens that you are responsible for. Fit, slim, muscular -- not overweight. Employed. Out of previous relationship long enough to be feeling fine and not hooked on the hunt for the next conquest. If you happen to enjoy experimental qualities of literature, art and music -- so much the better.

Attraction is Ephemeral was the last song we wrote. David played something I hadn't heard and I picked up a section of the writing I was working on about my Internet dates. We recorded it at rehearsal and didn't play it again until we were in the studio. After about six months of deception and lies I felt my intuition and trust were in upheaval.
