We  had a wonderful unit where students each developed their own original poem that utilized poetic devices and was drawn on their own personal experiences. Kimberly, a former English teacher and is also the 2016 Carl Sandburg Writer-in-resident.  She recently organized and emceed the Poetic Journeys poetry contest at the Art on the Trail Festival on October 22.
