David Pogue, the New York Time’s famed and entertaining technology expert, discusses the new Kindle DX in an article today. He seems to be a mild fan of the DX, pointing out its many pluses — easy-to-read screen, wireless downloads, its ability to vocalize text, and the growing catalog of books, magazines, blogs and newspapers available from Amazon.com

He also likes the larger screen and the capacity of the Kindle DX to hold more books (now around 3500 books).

He’s not so excited about the auto-rotate feature.

Video Explains That DX Benefits Justify Higher Price

Essentially, it notes that

(1) the viewing area is significantly larger on the DX

(2) there is a significant increase in the screen resolution, and

Amazon has apparently been catching up on the orders in its queue. It now advises that customers who order now will receive their new Kindles in four to six weeks. Compared to the earlier wait, this is quick.
