Boy oh Boy. Looks like it will never stop here. The weather has been driving sales as riders are looking to protect their expensive seats. Also, sheepskin users seem to be on the rise as many are calling and asking about the SplitWeight(tm) cover OVER their pad. PERFECT, I say. That's what I do and covering the skin was one of the driving forces leading to the development of the seat covers.

The second prototype for the Quick Release GoldWing 1800 cover is in it's final testing. This new cover will let the GW rider install a SplitWeight(tm) seat cover without having to remove the seat!

I went to the Progressive M/C show in Jan., 2013 in Cleveland. I was walking around vendors row and saw a booth selling books. It was none other than the wonderful Lois Pryce, auther of "Lois on the Loose", which is her book about riding from Alaska to the tip of South America, ALONE!

WOW-what an entertaining read. I went thru it in three days as I simply could NOT put it down. Best 20 bucks I spent at the show and Lois was kind enough to sign the book for me. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. It's great.

I had a useless triumph Tiger OEM gel seat that I liked for the extra leg room it provided. Trouble was I could only stand the seat for 1 hour before I wanted top burn it! I called Pat at AsTech and he fixed my up right and proper!

Why is the cover so expensive?

This is by far the number one question I get. There are several reasons. First of all, I'm not trying to price myself out of the market. That would be silly. The cover is fantastic and I want everybody who rides to buy one. BUT-as I've mentioned all over my website, the fabric is unique and it's very expensive to purchase. After we buy it, I have one of the best manufacturing plants in the USA make the covers to our specs. Also, there are no seams in most of our covers. No shortcuts taken to make a cover-no cuttings are joined together. The hook/loop is top quality as is the elastic banding around the bottom of the cover. All these steps are taken so as to insure that the end user gets a quality product that performs BETTER than expected. And it does. Heck, it costs me more to make the SplitWeight(tm) cover that what the "baggie" style coated nylon covers sell for.

So, everyone has heard about "the pain of low quality remains after the price of high quality is forgotten" or something like that. Fact is, I'll bet every one of us has purchased something motorcycle related we had high hopes for and it did NOT deliver. Be honest with yourself. Bet you have a garage full of stuff you don't use and would not recommend. I've got 20 pair of gloves-18 of whitch stink!

I am bound and determined not to have my covers in that catogory. So, it costs what it costs. It has to. SplitWeight(tm) covers are the absolute best at what they do. Period. If you want a dry seat, or dry butt-pad, or dry sheepskin, or want to keep the sun from wrecking your leather-well, folks, I'm your guy.

Take a look at the testimionals. Customers just send them. It pretty much speaks for itself.

So, again, if it's not for you-too expensive-I'm ok with that. Please understand I don't make them for six bucks. And no, you can't get the fabric anywhere-not like this. Only one mill worldwide makes it.
There are inexpensive covers out there. But, if you want the best available-you know who you are-then you can order a SplitWeight(tm) waterproof seat cover with the assurance that you have purchased the absolute best product of its' kind.

After the review in the Dec. 2011 issue of Motorcycle Cruiser magazine I've been getting a few calls and quite a few e-mails about the covers. Sales have been ok, too. Thanks.

What still makes me wonder are all the owners of Corbin, Russell, and LePera who spend $$$$$$ for a great product then don't/won't get a cover made for the seat. I'll remind those owners to check the manufactures' website and see what they say about rain. Simple enough to see for themselves.

A SplitWeight(tm) waterproof seat cover is the way to go. Simple to use and built to last. A business partner says it best, I think. He states: "It's not the money, it's what you GET for the money." I like that just fine. 40 bucks or so for a "glorified baggie or showercap" that the seat guys try to sell, or 90 bucks for a cover that will last for YEARS and you can USE in the rain. I still get a laugh from some of the seat sellers who will sell you a rain cover and then say not to ride on it in the rain. Really..............?

Why would you need a seat cover?

This one is easy. I started making these for: riders who have a leather seating surface, and riders who use any type of pad on their motorcycle. Remember: if you ride in the rain your seat and/or pad will absorb water. Same if your bike is out overnight on a road trip. The last thing you want is to be on a wet seat all day or sit on a damp sheepskin/buttpad.

The SplitWeight(tm) cover goes on in 10 seconds over your seat, pad or not, and can stay there. Nothing gets wet-even the cover as it will not absorb water.

I just got back from an 8098 mile road trip down to the states and back. My daughter was in the sidecar and I had a little Coleman Powerchill cooler sitting on my passenger seat the whole way. The seat has a sheepskin seatcover and then yout waterproof cover. It functioned perfectly and is still in new condition even with the stress of the cooler sitting on it. I cut all the velcro off the driver's seat cover so I can just pop it on and off as needed. We've been through glacier country, California Redwoods, the heat of California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, up through Ouray, CO, Denver and Yellowstone.
