Alena Shishkova Makeup Look

2012-02-28T04:44:00.000-08:00

Alena Shishkova's makeup is pretty simple and is very similar to Megan Fox's usual look.

Alena wears a natural shade of eyeshadow on the lid, with a darker colour on the outer part of her crease. She uses black liquid liner flicked out at the end to create a cat-eye look and a soft shimmery shadow underneath her eyebrows.

Her eyebrows are arched and carefully filled in with a mid-brown eyeshadow, then bronzer is applied to the contours of her face. She also has half lashes applied to her eyes. Alena usually wears a soft pink lip colour on her lips, or a glossy red now and then.

Alena's makeup is never overpowering. She wears makeup that compliments her features and enhances her beauty instead of wearing more adventurous and colourful looks.

Marilyn Monroe

2012-02-26T16:03:00.001-08:00

As someone who loves Old Hollywood, I have always had an interest in the stars of that time period. One huge star from those days that wasn't really on my radar was Marilyn Monroe.

I'm not sure what it was about her that I didn't quite click with, but for some reason she just didn't really appeal to me like she does the rest of the population.

It wasn't until I was planning for my Old Hollywood themed birthday party that I paid more attention to Marilyn. I was going through pictures on the internet of her, looking for images to add to my invite so show people the kind of look I was going for, and I came across photos that made me begin to find her interesting. During this time I began to realise that I did like Marilyn Monroe, very much actually, but what I liked about her wasn't the side that she has remained famous for.

Marilyn Monroe is more or less synonymous with sex appeal, but in my opinion the interesting part of her is the down to earth, smiley and happy side of her that wasn't captured on camera quite as much.

Also, Marilyn was a lot smarter than she has been credited for; she often found joy in reading books and conversing with intelligent people. Marilyn wanted to be known as a serious actress, not just a sex symbol, and fought against her studio for more serious roles than the ones she was being given.

Unfortunately Marilyn Monroe passed away before she was able to fulfill her ultimate goal of being taken seriously in her craft. So in honour of her, here are some of my favourite pictures showcasing the less known side of Miss Marilyn Monroe:

Kourtney & Kim Kardashian As Kids

2012-02-26T03:58:00.000-08:00

I love seeing pictures of celebrities as kids and the Kardashians are no exception.

Kourtney and Kim look adorable in their matching white outfits, showing off their sisterly love, when they were children. Unfortunately my favourite Kardashian, Khloe, isn't in this gorgeous shot.

Alena Shishkova #3

2012-02-03T06:23:00.000-08:00

Since you guys seem to like my Alena Shishkova posts so much, I decided to do another.
Here's a few little facts on her, in case you don't know who she is:

+ Alena is 19 years old, born November 12th 1992. Yes, she's a Scorpio!
+ The only plastic surgery she has had are lip injections.
+ Her hair is dyed blonde.
+ She is a model and will be competing in Miss Russia representing Tumen.
+ Alena has no Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook.
+ She has a boyfriend.
+ Her first language is Russian and she speaks very little English, so if you come across a site with a girl claiming to be her but speaking in English/American vernacular - a definite fake!

Lana Del Rey Covers Vogue

Lana Del Rey, the Born To Die singer, covers March's issue of Vogue UK.

Del Rey, who rose to fame after posting a video of her song Video Games on YouTube, was widely criticised last month after a terrible performance on Saturday Night Live. Despite the harsh reviews, Lana, born Lizzy Grant, has already gone on to reach number one in 11 different countries with her debut album.

Girls With Tattoos: Stefani Chapman

Ahh, maybe one day. Until then, I will continue posting the pictures I come across.

Classic Eyeliner and Perfect Brows

2012-02-02T12:41:00.000-08:00

Though my makeup collection is full of an assortment of coloured MAC eyeshadows, I'm not really big on actually using them.

Instead, I tend to stick to my favourite eye look of all time; black liquid eyeliner flicked out at the corner with a neutral shadow on the lid and a dark brown shadow in the crease. To top it off, I fill in my brows with Stud eyebrow pencil from MAC and use a little concealer on a brush to clean them up and keep them looking sharp.

This look is classic and timeless. It has been championed by the famously glamorous women of 1950's Hollywood, such as Marilyn Monroe, and it remains popular today with stars like Megan Fox and Lana Del Rey rocking it.

Keep it simple if you are wearing it during the day, but feel free to jazz it up for an evening look with a hint of gold, or maybe some sparkle, as pictured below.

The products I personally use and recommend for the look:
- Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Toast for all over the lid
- MAC eyeshadow in Embark for the crease
- Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Camel to blend out the crease
- Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner in Black
- MAC eyebrow pencil in Stud
- MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer to clean up the brow
- YSL False Lash Effect Mascara (Faux Cils) in Noir Radical

I’m not sure who to credit this image for, but if it’s yours, just let me know and I will edit the post.

Disney Princesses Look Fierce On The Cover Of Vogue!

2011-12-15T04:34:00.000-08:00

The ridiculously talented artist Dante Tyler created these Vogue covers for some of Disney's most recognisable princesses. Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine, Tiana, Pocahuntas, Snow White and Belle are looking fierce on each of their covers!

I love Dante's vision and creativity, the captions on the covers are absolutely genius. I'm so in love with Ariel's, Pocahuntas' and Jasmine's! These are so incredible.

Which is your favourite?
