Tupac Hologram at Coachella Video

2012-04-17T06:27:00.000-07:00

The Coachella festival is a place where minds routinely get blown, usually due to an awesome set or a killer reunion from one of your favorite bands. But on Sunday night it was thanks to the ghostly re-appearance of West Coast rap legend Tupac Shakur. He materialized on stage alongside his old friend Snoop Dogg during a crowd-pleasing set by the Doggfather and Dr. Dre, which also featured appearances from Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa and Warren G.

The resurrection of 'Pac, who was murdered in 1996, would have been a face-melting surprise had word about the stunt not leaked out just a few days before the set. But the 100,000 or so fans who were on hand still couldn't believe it when Tupac materialized on stage to rip off "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted."

"What up, Coachella?" the shirtless, pants sagging MC asked the crowd before bouncing into the classic single "Hail Mary."

"We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre's vision to bring this back to life," said Nick Smith, president of AV Concepts, the San Diego company that projected and staged the hologram. "It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life."

According to a spokesperson for Dre, the lifelike image of Shakur was created by Hollywood effects house Digital Domain, the Oscar-winning CG factory that made CG images of Brad Pitt in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Jeff Bridges in "TRON: Legacy," Kevin Bacon in "X-Men: First Class" and Rooney Mara in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." The virutal 'Pac was the vision of Dre, who worked with his longtime partner Philip Atwell of Geronimo Productions and Dylan Brown of The Yard.

Smith said he wasn't allowed to talk about the creative aspects of the production — including how the hologram was able to seemingly perform the set in synch with Snoop and whether all the vocals were 'Pac's — but he did say that his company has the ability to recreate long-dead figures and visually recreate them in the studio. "You can take their likenesses and voice and ... take people that haven't done concerts before or perform music they haven't sung and digitally recreate it," he said.

The hologram was the latest visual magic pulled off by AV, which is also behind the 2006 Grammys performance featuring Madonna and the holographic members of the Gorillaz, as well as holograms used in concert by Celine Dion and the Black Eyed Peas.

The Tupac hologram was several months in the planning and took nearly four months to create in a studio and though Smith was not able to reveal the exact price tag for the illusion, he said a comparable one could cost anywhere from $100,000 to more than $400,000 to pull off. "I can't say how much that event cost, but I can say it's affordable in the sense that if we had to bring entertainers around world and create concerts across the country, we could put [artists] in every venue in the country," he said.

The life-size Tupac was amazingly realistic, down to the late rapper's signature tattoos, Timberland boots, jewelry and movements, all of which were also recreated under the direction of Dre and his team.

King of Graphic Designs Response to Jay-Z canceled message of "Occupy Wall Street T-shirts."

2011-11-14T08:44:00.001-08:00

I understand, what Jay-Z was trying to do so by selling Occupy Wall Street t-shirts. And I understand where the people, whom living at the camp, are saying about Jay-Z profiting from there hard times. Granted, but Jay-Z is simply saying "Wall Street stop being greedy by cutting jobs and occupy the streets with more stores, donate more technology, give the human mind more knowledge, so we all can live with a piece of mind." However, Jay-Z is a positive business man and of course, he would of donated the fiscal year profit to charities that will help people benefit more knowledge and life experiences. Therefore, I am going to keep the message clear, for my peoples in the struggles, my peoples hoping for the better, because I am a business man too, for the people, I want jobs for everyone but more importantly, I want everyone to have a education and understand what freedom is all about.

Jay-Z Cancels ‘Occupy Wall Streets’ T-Shirts After Criticism

2011-11-14T08:39:00.001-08:00

Jay-Z and his clothing brand Rocawear have apparently canceled its newly announced Occupy Wall Street themed T-Shirts after criticism from many social organizations for trying to profit from an otherwise social cause.

READ: KING OF GRAPHIC DESIGNS RESPONSES BACK!

The legendary rapper was mainly attacked after it was disclosed that none of the profits from the sales of the shirts were going to help the protestors. The alphabet “W” in “Wall” was canceled out to mean Occupy All Streets. The shirts were priced and $22 but have now been taken off from the Rocawear website. A leader of the protest said this to TMZ:

“To attempt to profit off of the first important social moment of 50 years with an overpriced piece of cotton is an insult to the fight for economic civil rights known as #occupywallstreet”

Michael Jackson's Death Photo Shown In Court

2011-09-28T07:27:00.000-07:00

Michael Jackson Perform His Final Show

A photo of Michael Jackson's dead body was shown in court during the Dr. Conrad Murray manslaughter trial yesterday.

During day one of the trial, there were a lot of other bombshells dropped.

Bombshells like an audio recording of a non-lucid King Of Pop talking about building a Children's Hospital.

As for the opening remarks, the Daily Mail reports:

As Dr Conrad Murray appeared before the jury charged with involuntary manslaughter over Jackson’s death more than two years ago, deputy district attorney David Walgren displayed the picture that appeared to show tape or tubing over Jackson's face.

But the doctor's attorney Ed Chernoff told the jury it was the singer who caused his own death by swallowing a 'perfect storm' of drugs.

‘He died so fast he did not even have time to close his eyes.' he said.

Chilling statement after chilling statement, during day one, had many legal analysts calling this the trial of the century. It's all just sad if you ask us.

You can see Michael's dead body on the next page, and below you can listen to the audio of Michael Jackson. Rest in Peace, Michael.

Watch The Throne Ladies: Beyonce & Rihanna Are Taking Over!

2011-09-24T04:44:00.000-07:00

Rihanna's reign won't let up and Beyonce is quite simply the best who's ever done it.

Beyonce has been going non-stop since she was 17 years old and now that she's the BIG 3-0 and pregnant, it's the perfect time for her to let Rihanna get her reign up swag on.

Rihanna and Beyonce have never done a collaborative track together and GlobalGrind thinks it would be dope if they created an entire Watch The Throne album together.

At 23 years old, Rihanna is one of the baddest chicks in the game. Not only is she red hot, but she's loved by everyone.

She may receive a little backlash from uptight parents and conservative prudes, but Rihanna's raunchy delivery is unlike any other.

Beyonce puts on the best concerts ever and she works non-stop to ensure her "stans" get the total "Beyonce experience."

PHOTOS: Rihanna Plays With Her Pussy in Brazil

No one, not even Rihanna, can compete with Beyonce's work ethic, performances, or music. And no one, not even Beyonce, can match Rihanna's fire and shock appeal, which makes them the perfect ying and yang to do a collaborative album.

Beyonce and Rihanna are the two baddest chicks in the game, so it's only right that they do a crazy Sasha Fierce meets Rated R Rihanna album.

Tell us what you think. Should Rihanna and Beyonce do a Watch The Throne type album?

A "Scarface" Remake? Say Hello To Your New Friend!!!

2011-09-23T11:54:00.000-07:00

Are you ready for a new Scarface? If not, you better get ready!

According to Deadline.com, Universal Pictures is readying the third remake of Scarface. The original 1932 flick and the one we know and love, made in 1983, are both amazing films, but can the magic work for a third time?

EXCLUSIVE: Rihanna Plays With Her Pussy In Brazil

Before you get too upset at people messing around with the classic, you should know this:

The film is not intended to be a remake or a sequel. It will take the common elements of the first two films: An outsider, an immigrant, barges his way into the criminal establishment in pursuit of a twisted version of the American dream, becoming a kingpin through a campaign of ruthlessness and violent ambition.

The studio is keeping the specifics of where the new Tony character comes from under wraps at the moment, but ethnicity and geography were important in the first two versions.

In the 1932 Scarface, an Italian (Paul Muni) took over Chicago, and in the Brian De Palma-directed remake, a Cuban cornered the cocaine trade in 1980s Miami, only to be consumed by it. Ann Dvorak, George Raft and Boris Karloff starred in the original, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio starred in the remake.

Don't know about y'all, but we're willing to see what they come up with when they make this updated version of Scarface! How about you?
