Scott Walker has purportedly led to the submission of more than 1,000,000 petition signatures; leaving the overseer of Wisconsin elections, the Government Accountability Board, with a mountain of data in need of verification and no clear capability to conduct an audit of such scale. Unwilling to allow the abandonment of due process, True the Vote, together with Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty and We the People of the Republic, launched Verify the Recall, an effort to engage citizens in an independent, comprehensive audit of recall petition signatures. To date, this unprecedented effort has inspired more than 10,000 citizens to sign on, all ready to serve as the nation’s largest all-volunteer data entry army. But even with 10,000 volunteers we still need many, many more! We made it easy – True the Vote will send you a link to online form and you enter in the information from the petitions. PBSNewsHour had a couple of interesting guests on to discuss the “huge setback for the Democrats.” You can watch an 8 minute clip here. What’s next for Texas? The discussions will resume in court, new lines will be drawn, and very likely, new lawsuits will be filed. At some point a settlement will be reached and then….maybe we’ll have our primary. Meanwhile, Texas’ Photo Voter ID has gone through its first round of questioning and now waits for the decision of Mr. Holder.

Tomorrow our Nation recognizes the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. History has a way of recasting its heroes; making them angels or demons depending on your point of view.  King’s legacy is no different. His prolific words help redefine civil rights for the betterment of all Americans – but his noted peccadilloes provide fodder for those looking to debate the man and not the message. He made mistakes, he was imperfect, he was human. But what child, regardless of their epidermal hue, hasn’t been inspired by the words “I have a dream…”? We are living in days of unprecedented racial tensions, stoked by the hand of our first “post-racial” president. Would that Mr. Obama heed the words of MLK, who called for the measure of a man to be the content of his character, not the color of his skin; anyone who loves liberty should draw strength from those prolific words. Tomorrow, read the speech. Then get involved to help stop our current national nightmare so that together we can, by God’s grace, heal our land and dream again.

On Friday, January 13th, Texas submitted its response to the Dept of Justice’s request for more information on our state’s proposed plans for Photo Voter ID. From the AP report: “Federal officials in September said they needed the racial breakdown and counties of residence of the estimated 605,500 registered voters who lack state-issued IDs. They also asked how many of voters have Spanish surnames. SOS Hope Andrade’s office submitted the Spanish-surnamed voter count Thursday, but the state hasn’t required voters to state their ethnicity when registering to vote since the mid-1960s”. So, let’s think about this. The DOJ asked for information they knew would be impossible to provide. Impossible question = incomplete response = smack down. The DOJ now has 60 more days to bat us around, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, South Carolina fights on to defend the integrity of their polls.

In preparation for the year ahead, this Monday is dedicated to seeking God’s guidance as we endeavor to stand strong against all odds and hold to what we know is true of ourselves and our country. Fellow patriots, liberty is on life support. If we want to keep from losing it altogether, we must understand how we ever had it in the first place – and that answer is God. It is God who wired liberty into our hearts and it is God to whom we must turn for the strength to keep liberty alive. Our nation was born of divine inspiration given to founders of deep faith. If there is one thing, one quality, that sets us apart from the rest of the world it is that at our core we are a country carved from Judeo-Christianity; where all men are created equal and have inalienable rights given by God – not by government.

 

And so, just as the founders gathered to seek God’s guidance and blessing, so shall we. It is our heritage. It is our duty. To those who have expressed concern about the religious theme of Monday’s program, we appreciate your feedback and look forward to seeing you on future Mondays. Either way, True the Vote is still doing the audit and we still need your help. We are thrilled to report almost 9,000 patriots have signed on to help verify the recall signatures, but we can use all the help we can get. If you want to know more about how you can get involved with the Verify the Recall project click here.
