MASTER MARK HUTTON 7TH DEGREE SEMINARS.

The Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do are hosting Master Hutton for Seminars on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of February. The Saturday 4th Feb seminar is being held in the Listowel Hall (F.C.A. Hall, Patrick St, Listowel) starting at 10am to 12pm for Juniors,€15, and from 12pm to 3pm for seniors,€25.
Sundays seminar will be held at the Tralee Hall (11 High St, Tralee) from 10am to 12pm for Juniors,€15. The Seniors seminar will be held at the St Brendans Community Center, Ballymacelligott, Tralee, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm,€25.
Master Hutton is a former 5 x European Gold Medallist and is one of the Directors of the TKD Tigers Life Skills Programme, he is in my estimation one of the top Instructors in the world today. He will cover Patterns, Kicking and stretching and knowing Master Hutton probably add more to that. ITA WINTER BLACK BELT GRADING IN TRALEE

The ITA grading is being hosted by the Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do in Tralee. Saturday is for candidates for 2nd Degree and above at the Maeve Frawley Fitness Center, Monavalley Ind Est and for 1st Degree Candidates at the Brandon Hotel. Mr David Power 1st Degree, Instructor at Ballyduff and Abbeydorney Schools, is testing for 2nd Degree. The best of luck to Mr Power from all at Kingdom TKD.

IRISH CUP RESULTS.

The ITA Irish Cup was held on the 19th and 20th of November 2011. The Midwest team had the UL Sports Arena decked out very professionally for both days, it was a credit to their organisational skills. The Kingdom Schools came 10th overall in the school standings, there were 530 competitors entered from all over Ireland. Emil Beauseigneur and Tara McGinty both took Gold while Katelynn Bunworth, Meabh McElligott, Saoirse Coffey and Sean Hennessy all took Silver and Beniamin Grabczak and Roisin Coffey took bronze. Aaron Shine took bronze in both Patterns and Sparring. This was a brilliant achievement from those students and also for the students that didn't take home medals, remember this was a brilliant chance to test yourself and see what you can now improve on, you were part of the team and did yourself proud. Well done to all. Umpires on the day were Mr Adrian O'Mahoney and Ms Sara Dillon with Mr James McCarthy acting as coach, thank you as well.

The Summer Gradings will take place in Listowel on Saturday June 25th starting at 9am sharp and in Tralee on Sunday 26th at 9am sharp. FUNDAY

Sunday May 15th was our Biggest FUNDAY so far with 100 students participating. They competed in Sparring, Patterns and Nomi Ap Chagi (Overhead front kick), there was also a Bungee Run and Gladiator type bouncy activity.
TKD Tigers, Junior Taekwon-Do and Advanced Junior Taekwon-Do students attended and displayed some phenomenal Taekwon-Do. The Patterns were very good and the sparring spectacular, wth the overhead kick there were some very athletic and agile displays of kicking, some of them reaching over 6ft.
A very big thank you must go out to all the Helpers fom all the schools.
There were students from 11 different ITA schools, Mr O'Connors schools Mr Murphys schools and Mr O'Mahoneys. Paul Woods has added the photographs of the Funday on the site, just go to the photo drop box.

KINGDOM TKD CHIEF INSTRUCTOR RECEIVES GARDA VETTING.

As part of the benefits of IMAC membership instructors in the ITA must undergo Garda Vetting. This facility is only available to martial arts coaches affiliated to IMAC and Irish Sports Council recognised groups. Mr. Adrian O'Mahoney recently received his Garda Vetting certificate as part of this process. As well as this all ITA instructors are required to hold an ITF instructor teaching licence, an ITF Dan grade certificate, qualify as a level 1 coach, hold a current 1st aid certificate and undergo child protection awareness training.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS NZ

The Irish TKD Team are returning today, March 15th, with brilliant results from the World Championships in New Zealand. Dylan Fitzgibbon with Gold, Stephen Ryan, Hong Keat Looi and Paul King with Silver, Chloe Aboud and Nicole Butler with Bronze. The Junior Male Sparring Team with Bronze and the Senior Male Sparirng Team with Bronze. This is an absolutly fabulous result. A huge congratulations to the Individuals, teams and Manager and Coaches from all at Kingdom TKD.

CORK OPEN RESULTS.

The students from Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do did very well at the recent Cork open. As a school we came joint 5th out of 24. Students who brought home trophies were. James McCarthy, Meabh McElligott, Aaron Shine, Katelynn Bunworth, Tara McGinty, Mr Sinclair Kingston, Beniamin Grabczak, Lianne Donnelly, Roisin Coffey, Kayla Donnelly. Those who competed very well but who didn't take trophies were Kristupas Montuvdas, Jack Barrett Rowan, Erin Rowan, Emil Beauseigneur and Lucas O'Mahoney. Well done to all and hopefully we will reach higher than 5th at the Dublin Open in May.

Report of IIC in Ireland
The IIC hosted by the Irish Taekwon-Do Association (ITA), in Tralee, Ireland from January 28th – 30th was a great success. 138 people took part in the course from red belt to 8th Dan, including 50 4th Dan and above and 5 masters. Participants came from 9 countries; Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Ukraine, Spain, Jamaica, Belgium and Norway. The course was conducted by the ITF technical committee of Grandmaster Marano, Chairman of the technical committee, Grandmaster Trajtenberg acting President of the ITF and Grandmaster Bos, Secretary General of the ITF. The Grandmasters did an excellent jobover the three days of the course. They displayed fantastic knowledge that left participants with no doubt about the technical aspects of Taekwon-Do, inspired the participants with their passion and knowledge, and motivated everyone to train hard, stay in shape and always strive to put on the dobok and improve.

Arrival of participants

Upon arrival all participants were greeted by the organising committee and as they registered received their ID cards, free t-shirt of the IIC and free pen as well as an info pack containing information on the IIC and the local area.

The venue

The venue for the IIC was the Brandon Hotel, Conference and Leisure Centre, in the heart of the town of Tralee. Having the IIC and accommodation in the same building made the course more enjoyable and convenient for everyone. The IIC hall was very well decorated with banners of the ITF & AETF logos, pictures of the founder and of GM Tran, and large banners showing different aspects of Taekwon-Do. Outside the Conference Centre a large banner hung so that passers-by could take notice of the prestigious Taekwon-Do event being held in the town.

Opening ceremony

As part of the opening ceremony the organising committee wanted to make the Grandmasters feel at home so the mayor of the town officially welcomed the Grandmasters to the town of Tralee and presented each of them with the medal of the town, gold with the official town emblem engraved on it.

The course

The IIC promised to be a great event and the Grandmasters did not disappoint. Over the three days all aspects of ITF Taekwon-Do were taught and every participant put in a big effort in their training, motivated by the Grandmasters. Some participants described the atmosphere during the IIC as “a family atmosphere” and the Grandmasters added to this by being very approachable and willing to answer questions and clarify any doubts. Grandmaster Marano astounded participants with his knowledge of the patterns as he referenced pictures and pages from the encyclopedia verbatim. Grandmaster Bos, as always inspired participants with his excellent physical shape, his motivating teaching style and innovative ideas on teaching all aspects of Taekwon-Do. Grandmaster Trajtenberg exudes positivity and wisdom and with his anecdotes of times with General Choi clarifies every question with technical and background information.

On the Saturday afternoon there was a promotional examination conducted by the ITF technical committee. Five people took part in the exam of which four were successfully promoted. Among them was a new Master for the ITF and Ireland, Master Patrick O’Rourke, who has been practicing Taekwon-Do since 1974.

Banquet

The banquet was attended by 114 people who enjoyed a three-course meal and had the opportunity to experience some of Irelands unique culture. A group of young and very talented musicians entertained the crowd with some traditional Irish music, dancing and singing. The crowd really enjoyed the entertainment and there was plenty of clapping, cheering and singing along with the music.

Closing ceremony

The IIC was officially closed on Sunday afternoon. During the closing ceremony the organising committee presented the technical committee with some gifts, including the IIC t-shirt, Official CD of the course (500 photos) and a very special gift of a personalized bottle of 12 year old Jameson reserve Whiskey. Each bottle was specially commissioned with the name of the Grandmasters engraved on the bottle.

The ITF Children’s program

During the IIC Master DonatoNardizzi from England and Mr. Fabian Izqueirdo from Argentina worked on the official ITF childrensprogramme. On Sunday afternoon they made a presentation to the Grandmasters of their work on the programme.

Feedback from participants

The feedback from the participants was extremely positive and all were complimentary of the work from the organising committee and the ITF Technical Committee.

Dear Grandmasters, Masters, Instructors & Friends,
This to update you about the IIC to be held in Ireland from January 28th - 30th 2011. We now have over 130 participants registered for the event and we are still accepting registration. We currently have delegations registered from Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Jamaica, many of them above 4th degree. Many of the participants are also bringing family members with them to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the Kingdom region of Kerry, famous for its hospitality and Irish Culture. Following several requests we have decided to extend the registration date to the 16th of January 2011 so please avail of this opportunity to train with and learn from the ITF Grandmasters and to share a positive weekend of Taekwon-Do with your peers. The documents and info pack can be downloaded from www.taekwondo.ie or see the attached.
Accommodation
Rooms in the host hotel, the Brandon Hotel, www.brandonhotel.ie can only be booked through the organising committee. We are still awaiting hotel and banquet confirmations from some participants. We need this information ASAP so that we can liaise with the hotel and make the best preparation possible for the event. Those that require assistance with arranging transport, or have any additional queries please do not hesitate to contact the organising committee oniic@taekwondo.ie and we will do our best to assist you.

Registration procedure on arrival at the hotel
On arrival at the hotel please proceed to the IIC registration desk in the main entrance area of the hotel (directly across from hotel reception desk). All fees for hotel, IIC and banquet must be paid on arrival at the IIC registration desk. Each participant will be issued with their hotel room key, an ID card and information pack for the weekend and also a couple of complimentary gifts!
Test for Promotion

Those planning to test for promotion at the IIC must have the required approval and apply through the Secretary General of their association to the ITF Secretary General, Grand Master Bos, at least 1 month prior to the IIC. Please send a copy of the application also toiic@taekwondo.ie. Please see the info pack for additional information. We can also arrange timber for breaking for the grading participants upon request at a small cost. Please contact the organising committee to arrange this.

Banquet

We have made special arrangements for the banquet (there are still places available), where we plan on sharing some of Irelands unique culture with you.
This promises to be a great event and we hope that you can come to Ireland and share a weekend of Taekwon-Do and Irish Hospitality with us.

GRADINGS

Congratulations to all the students who passed their Grading over the weekend, new tags and belts for all. A very impressive reflex kick by James McCarthy, off the backs of Adam Grey and Mr James Mahoney, testing for Black Tag.

The TKD Tiger tests were a huge success with all Tigers passing their relevant Taekwon-Do Stripes and their Stranger Awareness Skills, so new stripes and Badges for all. Daniel Stoev and Ryan Guerin passed their Black Stripes so they are moving into the Junior Taekwon-Do class, leaving behind all their friends from tigers but they have already made friends in Junior TKD.
