CLASSES RETURNING.

Classes will start back in Listowel on Tuesday July 28th with classes as per normal, In Tralee on Wednesday July 29th at our new Full Time venue "Kingdom Academy" Unit 2, Davcon Business Center, Monavalley Industrial Estate, Tralee with classes as normal, In Ballybunion on Saturday September 1st from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

There will be a new Korean Kickboxing "KKB" class in Tralee on Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm for Juniors 10 to 15 yrs and 7pm to 8pm for Seniors 16yrs and over. All welcome.

Ms Julia Cross, 6 X ITF World Champ visits the Kingdom of Kerry.

Mr Adrian O’Mahoney, 6th Degree and Chief Instructor of Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do, invited Ms Julia Cross, 5th Degree, to Co. Kerry in Ireland to conduct Sparring Seminars in April of 2012.

Ms Cross is a 6 times ITF World Champion and was in the “Kingdom of Kerry” for Junior and Senior Sparring Seminars. On Saturday Ms Cross was in the Listowel Taekwon-Do Hall for a Junior Seminar. In A very upbeat style she taught the kids about movement and balance, footwork and how a good guard and side facing are very beneficial for good sparring. Ms Cross started with what seemed as simple games but each game evolved into sparring strategy. By the end of the Seminar the students were dodging and countering, attacking with solid punches and strong side kicks. A lot of the students commented afterwards that they found it easier to spar and score points after the session, and thought Ms Cross was brilliant.

On Sunday Morning the venue was the Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School, with Juniors starting at 10am to 12pm. 25 students arrived early and eager to learn from the World Champion. The format was similar to the previous day with each exercise progressing into the next. Sunday’s seminar was very up tempo and lots of drills were covered by the students and there was a visible change in how the students were moving after the day. After the seminar Ms Cross gave them a chance to ask questions about her training and Competition career and what she has achieved and how she achieved it.

At 12pm the Senior seminar started on what was to be a very fast paced 3 hour seminar. There was from white belt to 6th Degree in attendance, notably Mr Mark Buckley and Mr Pat Barry 6th Degrees as well as Eddie Dillon, Louise McCagh, Luke Laffan, Katy Laffan, and twice Junior World Champion Dylan Fitzgibbon.

Ms Cross covered core work, correct foot position for side kick in sparring, dodging and working angles for sparring, use of solid punches. This then led into sparring drills covering these topics. After working the drills they were then put into sparring practise, half of the class sat and watched as the other half sparred and vice versa. This was done so that each group could observe the other putting the drills into practise and see how the worked. This seminar was very informative and each student seemed to learn quite a lot. To finish up Ms Cross had everyone sparring in a point sparring game, when you lost you sat down and the winners moved onto the next person, with the last person left as the winner, (Dylan Fitzgibbon) this was a very enjoyable game. To finish there was a body massage from a partner, which involved walking on your partners back and massaging their shoulders. The seminar finished with a Q and A session, then Mr O’Mahoney made a presentation to Julia Cross on behalf of the Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do of a Glass clock and thanked her dearly for coming to Ireland for her first ever seminars in Ireland. Ms Cross has a wealth of information to teach and pass on and is very willing to do so. The one thing she impressed upon all the Seminar participants was that, to achieve something you have to believe in yourself and not to let others tell you what you can or cannot achieve.

MS JULIA CROSS WORLD CHAMPION SEMINARS

Ms Cross will be in Kerry to give Sparring Seminars, she is being hosted by Mr Adrian O'Mahoney ITF 6th Degree Black Belt of Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do.

Ms Julia Cross ITF 5th Degree Black Belt is a 6 times World Sparring Champion. She will cover warm ups, sparring drills, strategy and sparring. This is her first time ever to Teach Seminars in Ireland and we are very lucky to have her coming to the Kingdom.

The seminars will be held on Saturday April 28th 2013, with Juniors starting at 10am to 12pm and Seniors from 12pm to 3pm. The Venue for Saturday is the Ballybunion Community Center, Ballybunion, Co.Kerry.

On Sunday April 29th 2013 the venue is Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School, Tralee, Co.Kerry, with the same times as Saturday. The Fees are Juniors €15 and Seniors €25. Please contact Mr O'Mahoney on 087 6596425 as soon as possible as places are limited and are already starting to fill up.

MASTER MARK HUTTON 7TH DEGREE SEMINARS.

The Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do are hosting Master Hutton for Seminars on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of February. The Saturday 4th Feb seminar is being held in the Listowel Hall (F.C.A. Hall, Patrick St, Listowel) starting at 10am to 12pm for Juniors,€15, and from 12pm to 3pm for seniors,€25.
Sundays seminar will be held at the Tralee Hall (11 High St, Tralee) from 10am to 12pm for Juniors,€15. The Seniors seminar will be held at the St Brendans Community Center, Ballymacelligott, Tralee, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm,€25.
Master Hutton is a former 5 x European Gold Medallist and is one of the Directors of the TKD Tigers Life Skills Programme, he is in my estimation one of the top Instructors in the world today. He will cover Patterns, Kicking and stretching and knowing Master Hutton probably add more to that. ITA WINTER BLACK BELT GRADING IN TRALEE

The ITA grading is being hosted by the Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do in Tralee. Saturday is for candidates for 2nd Degree and above at the Maeve Frawley Fitness Center, Monavalley Ind Est and for 1st Degree Candidates at the Brandon Hotel. IRISH CUP RESULTS.

The ITA Irish Cup was held on the 19th and 20th of November 2011. The Midwest team had the UL Sports Arena decked out very professionally for both days, it was a credit to their organisational skills. The Kingdom Schools came 10th overall in the school standings, there were 530 competitors entered from all over Ireland. Emil Beauseigneur and Tara McGinty both took Gold while Katelynn Bunworth, Meabh McElligott, Saoirse Coffey and Sean Hennessy all took Silver and Beniamin Grabczak and Roisin Coffey took bronze. Aaron Shine took bronze in both Patterns and Sparring. This was a brilliant achievement from those students and also for the students that didn't take home medals, remember this was a brilliant chance to test yourself and see what you can now improve on, you were part of the team and did yourself proud. Well done to all. Umpires on the day were Mr Adrian O'Mahoney and Ms Sara Dillon with Mr James McCarthy acting as coach, thank you as well.

FUNDAY

Sunday May 15th was our Biggest FUNDAY so far with 100 students participating. They competed in Sparring, Patterns and Nomi Ap Chagi (Overhead front kick), there was also a Bungee Run and Gladiator type bouncy activity.
TKD Tigers, Junior Taekwon-Do and Advanced Junior Taekwon-Do students attended and displayed some phenomenal Taekwon-Do. The Patterns were very good and the sparring spectacular, wth the overhead kick there were some very athletic and agile displays of kicking, some of them reaching over 6ft.
A very big thank you must go out to all the Helpers fom all the schools.
There were students from 11 different ITA schools, Mr O'Connors schools Mr Murphys schools and Mr O'Mahoneys. Paul Woods has added the photographs of the Funday on the site, just go to the photo drop box.

KINGDOM TKD CHIEF INSTRUCTOR RECEIVES GARDA VETTING.

As part of the benefits of IMAC membership instructors in the ITA must undergo Garda Vetting. This facility is only available to martial arts coaches affiliated to IMAC and Irish Sports Council recognised groups. Mr. Adrian O'Mahoney recently received his Garda Vetting certificate as part of this process. As well as this all ITA instructors are required to hold an ITF instructor teaching licence, an ITF Dan grade certificate, qualify as a level 1 coach, hold a current 1st aid certificate and undergo child protection awareness training.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS NZ

The Irish TKD Team are returning today, March 15th, with brilliant results from the World Championships in New Zealand. Dylan Fitzgibbon with Gold, Stephen Ryan, Hong Keat Looi and Paul King with Silver, Chloe Aboud and Nicole Butler with Bronze. The Junior Male Sparring Team with Bronze and the Senior Male Sparirng Team with Bronze. This is an absolutly fabulous result. A huge congratulations to the Individuals, teams and Manager and Coaches from all at Kingdom TKD.

CORK OPEN RESULTS.

The students from Kingdom Schools of Taekwon-Do did very well at the recent Cork open. As a school we came joint 5th out of 24. Students who brought home trophies were. James McCarthy, Meabh McElligott, Aaron Shine, Katelynn Bunworth, Tara McGinty, Mr Sinclair Kingston, Beniamin Grabczak, Lianne Donnelly, Roisin Coffey, Kayla Donnelly. Those who competed very well but who didn't take trophies were Kristupas Montuvdas, Jack Barrett Rowan, Erin Rowan, Emil Beauseigneur and Lucas O'Mahoney. Well done to all and hopefully we will reach higher than 5th at the Dublin Open in May.
