His wife, Victoria Beckham, is looking toward the "next chapter" in their lives. Victoria shared her sentiment in a statement on behalf of herself and the couple's four children. Here's what Victoria said about David's retirement:

THE Presidency on Monday announced that wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, had travelled to Germany, where it said she visited often for medical check-ups.

“It is notable that Her Excellency has a history of visiting the hospital in Germany even before she became the First Lady, thus making her medical trips routine,” a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the President’s wife, Ayo Osinlu, said.

Osinlu’s statement was in reaction to media reports that the President’s wife had again returned for medical treatment abroad.

Patience was in 2012 overseas for six weeks attending to her health. Though Osinlu and the Presidency denied then that she was undergoing treatment, Patience at a thanksgiving service to celebrate her survival revealed that she underwent nine surgeries and passed out for a whole week.

The Presidency statement on Monday read, “Our attention has been attracted by some curiosity in a cross section of the public and particularly the media, about the movement of the First Lady, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

“For the avoidance of doubts and ambiguities, we wish to state that the First Lady travelled to Dubai, after which she proceeded to Paris, France, to participate in the first Green Women Conference, which took place in Paris on March 17, where she received the 2013 Global Women Leaders’ Award for Peace.

“She thereafter proceeded to Italy from where she went to Germany to see her mother, Mama Sisi, who is currently receiving medical attention.

“The First Lady is spending sometime overseeing the management of her mother’s condition.

“She is also using the opportunity to spend quality time with her holidaying children before they return to school, as they are with her to see their grandmother.

“It is unfortunate that again, some media houses have allowed themselves to be used by dedicated mischief-makers against the basic tenet of professional journalism, which regards truth as sacred.

“It is notable that Her Excellency has a history of visiting the hospital in Germany even before she became the First Lady, thus making her medical trips routine.

“It is also instructive to state that medical experts have recommended that every human being should undergo medical checkup every six months, even if not suffering from ill health.

“Therefore, hospital visitations of our leaders should not become leading media issues or attract disrespectful comments, just as the current circumstances of former President Nelson Mandela and other African leaders in similar situations, and even those who died, have not attracted negative comments from their people.

“While urging a more charitable disposition towards one another as our brothers’ keepers, we wish to express our appreciation for the sincere interests of those, who have shown genuine concern through their enquiries.

“The First Lady is expected back within the next week.”

Meanwhile, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Monday described an online report credited to him to have announced the sacking of Osinlu as “a classic April Fool’s joke and fake naija news”.

An online news portal, Saharareporters, on Monday morning, had posted a report that Abati issued a statement announcing Osinlu’s sacking and his replacement by one of the online medium’s columnists, Rudolf Okonkwo.

The report had since been removed from the website.

But Abati in his Twitter handling denied issuing such statement.

Women in Saudi Arabia are now allowed to ride bikes and buggies thanks to a ruling by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.

The commission lifted the ban to allow women to ride in parks, esplanades and open desert areas, as long as they are modestly dressed and have a male relative nearby in case of accidents, Gulf News reported.

An official with the commission told local Arabic daily Al Youm women should only ride bikes and buggies for recreational purposes and not as a means of transportation.

Traffic officials said they were not consulted by the commission for its ruling.

"Our concern is the positive traffic culture and full compliance with traffic rules and regulations by all drivers and riders," Ali Al Zahrani, the spokesman for the Eastern Province Traffic, said.

When asked how he'd dealt with the battery charges his on-again girlfriend filed against him in 2009, Brown said he had been "humbled by the whole experience." He replied as thus:

"From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is," the singer told Matt Lauer. Well, I must confess that taking water in the morning is not all that easy as I have tried making it a habit but I have failed being consistent in the act. I know it is not funny doing it but you have to continue until your body system gets used to it.

If you can form the habit of taking water every morning, you stand the chance of benefiting so much. Hay, I know I have been lazy about it just like you. But recently, for the very first time in my entire life as a human being, I maintained the habit of taking water each morning for a month!!! That calls for celebration right? If you understand how lazy most of us are towards taking water every morning, you will understand why I celebrated my first month of uninterrupted early morning taking habit. Come with me, as I teach you how I achieved it. Wait a minute, do you even know the importance of taking water every morning? Below are some of the benefits of taking water early in the morning:

I’m sure you are saying what is wrong with this dude right? Well, let me shock you-taking water every morning can help you lose weight. Astronomers Seek Birth Date of Oldest Star

Astronomers using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope say they've taken a step closer to finding the birth date of a star that's been around for a very long time.

The aging star, cataloged as HD 140283, lies 190.1 light-years away from Earth.

"We have found that this is the oldest known star with a well-determined age," said Howard Bond of Pennsylvania State University and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore.

The star could be as old as 14.5 billion years, astronomers said, which is a bit of a puzzle since the calculated age of the universe is about 13.8 billion years.

Couple Celebrates 80th Wedding Anniversary!!!!!!!!!

You can imagine the strength of their love…they are preparing for their 80^th anniversary of their wedding and the advice they both have for younger couples is to: “be humble and have patience”. They are North Carolina couple, from the United State.

Robert Gerald, 97, and Virginia Gerald, 95, of Goldsboro said they married when Robert was 17 and Virginia was 15 and they are now preparing for their 80th wedding anniversary April 12, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported Monday.

The couple, who the Observer said may be the longest-married in the state, had their first child within a year of being married and eventually had a total 11 children and Robert and Virginia could not agree on whether they had 36 or 40 grandchildren.

The couple said they have advice for couples seeking to reach the 80-year mark in their relationships.

"Love one another till death do you part," he said. "Remember that God is in charge. Be humble and have patience. Behind every cloud, the sun will rise again in your life."

They concluded.

Wow!!! what really shocked me about this couple is the fact that they married very early 17 and 15. They are still together even today. Love is not a respecter of age. If you really know the true meaning of love, the both of you will never find it difficult taking risks. Love is wonderful and I say a very big congratulations to the couple. I wish you all well.

2face Plans Mega Weddings Starting from March

The celeb couple 2face and Annie Idibia are planning one of the biggest weddings of 2013 after secretly wedding in July 2012. The official invites were released recently and have since gone rival.

The couple have announced the first step of the grand wedding – a traditional wedding holding on Friday, March 8, 2013.

The wedding will hold in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Annie’s home town.

The white wedding will hold on March 23, 2013 in Dubai.

Kennis Music Cancels Annual Music Fiesta!

Kennis Music, has announced that this year’s edition of the annual Kennis Music Easter Fiesta has been cancelled following the tragic death of one of the label’s artistes Susan ‘Goldie’ Harvey.

The Pop star shockingly passed away on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013, a few hours after returning from Los Angeles where she had attended the 55th Grammy Awards.

The label’s management say instead of the fiesta, they will be staging a thanksgiving service/Tribute Concert at a later date.

Goldie was buried on Monday, February 25, 2013.

You’d think the multi-million Naira SquareVille mansion would be enough property for the Okoyes to own, well apparently not.

The Okoyes are currently building another mansion in ParkView Estate located in the highbrow Ikoyi area of Lagos State. A rep for the pop stars confirmed this.

We’re told construction of the ‘edifice’ began late last year while Psquare were on their series of African tours.

A recent photo on Jude Okoye’s Instagram page shows him with younger brother Peter Okoye on the new site.

Pope Benedict Officially Resign

Could this be the beginning of the end of the world? The leader of the Catholic Church steps aside today!!

Pope Benedict XVI rode on his helicopter into the sunset this evening, on his final day as head of the Catholic Church. Pope Benedict will officially step down at 8 p.m. Rome time, but he already headed for the papal Summer residence, where he will stay until his Vatican apartment is ready. Before leaving, the pope addressed the church's cardinals, saying, "Among you is the future pope, to whom I promise my unconditional reverence and obedience." After his resignation, Benedict will continue to wear white and will be addressed as "his holiness" and "pope emeritus."

Cardinals will begin meeting soon to choose the successor. The hope is also that the new leader will not have a shady connection to the child sex abuse scandal. Controversy has surrounded the church leadership up until Benedict's final days. Italian newspaper La Repubblica recently reported about a "gay lobby" within the Vatican and alleged a series of scandals involving sex and money sparked Benedict's decision to resign. The Vatican denied the story as deplorable gossip.

After causing an uproar for saying condoms don't help HIV prevention during a trip to Africa, for example, he changed course and said contraception is a "first step in a movement toward a different way, a more human way, of living sexuality." Some hope the pope's successor will be more open-minded about social issues like gay marriage and sexuality. But since the cardinals who will choose him were all appointed by the very conservative Pope Benedict XVI or John Paul II, the next pope will likely share their conservative doctrine.

Church in Crises over N5m Donation!!

The tension was said to have been caused by the alleged demotion of the Vicar of the church, Rev. Mike Ogunniyi, by the Bishop of Ekiti West Anglican Diocese, Bishop Oludare Oke.

It was learnt that the demotion was caused by Oke’s opposition to the way the reverend administered a N5m donation to the church by Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The governor donated N5m to the church on January 25 during the funeral for the late Archbishop Abiodun Adetiloye, who was an indigene of the town.

Fayemi had said the money should be used for the furtherance of the gospel which Adetiloye lived and died for.

It was learnt that the bishop had ordered that the money should be deposited in a special fixed account, as an endowment fund.

The bishop’s order was said to have been given in anticipation that the money would yield an interest which would also be useful to the church.

It was gathered that Ogunniyi, in consultation with the leaders of the church, however, ignored the order and bought a N3m bus for evangelism, spent N1m on the renovation of the church and deposited the balance in the church’s account.

The actions were said to have provoked the bishop, who slammed him with a demotion from the position of archdeacon to a canon “for spending the church’s money without an approval”.

Benedict XVI will be 'pope emeritus'

After he steps down, Pope Benedict XVI will be referred to as pope emeritus or Roman pontiff emeritus, the Vatican announced Tuesday.

Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the 85-year-old German-born pontiff will continue to be addressed as "Your Holiness" following his resignation Thursday, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

Lombardi confirmed Benedict's ring of office as pope will be destroyed following Vatican tradition.

He said Benedict XVI would continue to wear the simple, white papal cassock and use shoes given to him by Mexican cobblers during a visit last year.

"The pope really liked the gift of the shoes made for him by the artisans of Leon, Mexico, and he will continue to use them," Lombardi said.

He said Pope Benedict's personal notes will remain with him but documents regarding the government of the Catholic Church "will go to the competent archives."

The Human papillomavirus (HPV) was once believed to have no effect on men, but it’s now found to be harmful to men as well as well as women. In fact, giving someone unprotected oral s*x or receiving it from them if they are infected can seriously jeopardize your health.A new study has found a rapid increase in the number of throat and neck cancers over the last 12 years, with thousands of new cases occurring every single year.

BlackDoctor.org discusses the issue in more detail, noting that throat, mouth and neck cancers were once caused by tobacco use. But although the use of tobacco has declined, the rates of certain cancers related to HPV have been on the rise. The rate of STD infection is even greater in the black community, where a lower marital rate has led to an increase in the number of s*x partners. One researcher at a major university told YBW that he randomly tested 20 men in a barbershop and found that half of them were infected with Chlamydia without even knowing it.

According to the Journal of Clinical Oncology, over 11,000 cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed this year, but the number has been declining. Women regularly get Pap Smears, but men are less likely to go to the doctor. As a result, the number of HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer cases will rise to 8,700, with 7,400 of those cases in men. The disease then festers within the mouth and throat of the victim, causing cancerous sores to emerge for those who are undiagnosed.

North Korea Threatens 'Final Destruction' of South Korea

North Korea followed up its nuclear test last week with threats aimed at its southern enemy during a UN conference on disarmament in Geneva Tuesday.

"As the saying goes a new born puppy knows no fear of a tiger," said North Korean diplomat Jon Yong Ryong to the meeting. "South Korea's erratic behavior would only herald its final destruction."

Jon avoided specifically mentioning the nuclear test, instead referring to a "resolute step for self-defense."

"If the US takes a hostile approach toward the DPRK to the last, rendering the situation complicated, it [North Korea] will be left with no option but to take the second and third stronger steps in succession," he said.

The nuclear test which earned broad condemnation from the U.N. and world leaders for threatening regional security.

The test, which was on a smaller device than in North Korea's two previous tests, raised fears that the country was nearing the capability of attaching a nuclear warhead to a missile capable of intercontinental distances.

Ambassador Laura Kennedy, the U.S. permanent representative to the Conference on Disarmament, strongly condemned North Korea's statement.

"I also was particularly struck by the phrase 'heralding the destruction of the Republic of Korea' and find that language incredibly inconsistent with the goals and objectives that this body is intended to pursue," she said.
