Oct 2nd,. Dr. Blackman Presentation Notes: Possession is often portrayed in the movies as a vomiting, head spinning child or adult that wants to destroy Christianity. Sadly, this isn’t the case. Demonic possession consumes the soul and is a state of delusion so serious it will literally kill it’s host.

Rare is the case not founded on past assumptions and influences. Most cases spawn from current cultural and media influence. The actual cases of real possession are lower than 100 people per 1 million.

Patient inherently evil. Will use any means necessary to create havoc and injury to those around him.

Treatment: Remove from general population. Ration food. No communication allowed between patient and staff. Bleeding combined with sound therapy recommended.

Notes: Patient #049M, displays true demonic possession characteristics. Patient is cognoscente of possession characteristics and has embraced the evil nature of such delusions. Patient must remain in restraints for safety of general population and himself.

Staff: Patient 049M has begun to speak in foreign tongue. Do not verbally or visually recognize patients new speech patterns. Remain at least 20 feet away from patient at all times.

Dr. Blythe

I talked with Blythe again this morning. He is not compliant. I am going to have to adjust my management style to fit his arrogance. The longer hours and the reduction in salary and benefits have seemed to only encourage his behavior. It is disturbing to me that his techniques are so close to my own, and my suspicion of his meddling is gaining value.

I was hesitant to take on Blythe because of his history, but he became worthy of his position here almost immediately because of his shrewd counseling practices and precise surgical skills. Blythe’s comfortable mood in the operating and procedures rooms makes for efficient treatments even if he is a taskmaster with the staff. However, I cannot allow myself to be the target of his harsh attitude and course language. This is not the first time I have planned a treatment process for a staff member, but it is the first time I have planned such an aggressive treatment process for a staff member and one who is a doctor. Nevertheless, the future of my position here as chief administrator and chief surgeon is at stake because of Blythe’s candid nature and egotistical personality. I can tolerate what he did to Nurse Mariam and the orderly, but I cannot tolerate any further insubordination!

Blythe and I were becoming friends, but as the saying goes, “Familiarity breeds contempt.” It is true. The treatment process for Blythe will need to match his insubordination and his personality disorder. It will be extreme by necessity. Were Blythe in a stable, a normal, state of mental health he would agree with my treatment process for him. Keeping in mind that Blythe is still of great value as a surgeon and mental health doctor I have reconsidered and will not proceed with the lobotomy. For now that treatment is off the table.

I am going to employ several of the treatment processes that Blythe has used over these past months since Blythe is so proud of them. The treatment will include four processes to alter Blythe’s disagreeable personality. First, common electroshock therapy to be administered to soft muscle groups. This will be accompanied by the use of acupuncture needles: one of Blythe’s recent “improvements” to the staid electroshock therapy. Second, sound immersion. Blythe used this treatment to gain zero success with a former patient named (name scratched out with red ink). Third, starvation. I can call it nothing else because that is in essence what Blythe has done to many patients, however, it does draw forth the intended response of cooperation and humility that we so desire with him. Fourth, I am placing Blythe in the same room with Maxwell. Physician heal thyself.

Escaped Zombie in Cleveland, TX

On the night of September 6th, 2011, the Kingwood Asylum Zombies invaded Cleveland, TX. The quiet town of Cleveland, is now under martial law. Quarantined from outside towns and citizens, Cleveland has become the dark side of the moon overnight.

The Kingwood Asylum staff is currently in custody for reckless endangerment as well as involuntary man slaughter. Shayne Torrans, an orderly of the Kingwood Asylum had this to say, “Man, I just turned around and they were gone. We lock them up every night before shuffleboard and I know that I locked the gate! I can’t figure out how this happened.” Sadly, the story doesn’t add up. Investigators found the cell locks neatly hanging in the storeroom.

Kirk Fuson, a former patient of the Kingwood Asylum had this to say about the escape, “I ain’t no snitch,.. but I betcha it was Sylvia Wynters doing. That nut job has the run of the asylum and is pure twisted evil. Hell, I still take 500mg of Klonopin to dull my nightmares. I ain’t had a good nights sleep in years. That place is the devils work and Sylvia is the beast master man!”

Fearing the worst, officials have asked the press not to release photographs of the aftermath. If you have family or friends in Cleveland, please do not try to contact them. The military has stated that it will release Cleveland from martial law once the clean up is finalized.

Miller: Alright, Ms. Brown, you can begin.

Brown: How do I begin? Just speak loudly into this?

Miller: You can speak normally. Tell me what you told us earlier, about what you say you saw.

Brown: About what I did see.

Miller: Yes, ma’am. Start with your employment date and…

Brown: I started at Kingwood on February 16 of 1961 as a general nurse.

Miller: What were your duties at Kingwood?

Brown: Distributing medicine and carrying bedpans at first, but my hours quickly increased and my duties became more (pause) serious.

Miller: How so?

Brown: Dr. Blackman said that I stood out as a nurse with promise of great things. At first I thought he was hitting on me, but he wasn’t. (pause) Dr. Blackman wanted me and one other nurse to assist him in private treatments for special needs patients. That’s why I’m here.

Miller: Why did it take you so long to come forward?

Brown: Look! I was fresh out of nursing school, okay? I’m not a doctor! I didn’t have any clinical experience! And then they sent me from E.R. to Kingwood because Dr. Blackman requested nurses with vigor. That’s what he said. Vigor. Guess I had vigor. I just followed instructions.

Miller: Tell us.

Brown: There were times when we would have to strap them down. Tight. And then hold them down, too. Dr. Blackman made us look away while he did things to them. To the patients or inmates or whatever they were. I don’t know. Some barely could be described as human anymore! Christ help them. (pause) There was lots of blood. Lots of screaming. But afterwards, after it was over, the patients were calmer. Usually. So we kept on. There was one girl…name was, Lilly…who made me her friend. She was the most normal one of the floor I worked. She’s why I’m here i guess. That was the final straw for me. (pause) Okay, so Lilly was (pause) Lilly was about sixteen. Really sweet. Just had some problems. I don’t know how to explain it. But Blackman (inaudible) Blackman must have been experimenting on her. I’ve never heard of or seen or read about any of those techniques. (pause) At first it was just the mild shock therapy inducing seizures, then it went to restraint. Long periods of restraint in different positions and (pause) (inaudible) It got to flooding then. Then he went to oxygen deprivation. Mild starvation. Extreme temperature exposure. Once, and you can’t explain this, he had us shave her entire body. I don’t know. For no reason. He had her wear these shoes that were (pause) well they weren’t shoes. They were boxes. They were boxes padlocked to her feet. She could barely walk. Another time she was gagged. Then only handcuffed. (pause) He would tape her eyes shut when he handcuffed her. Make her find her way to the cafeteria. Said it would make her more independent and grow up. She got worse was all.

Miller: Is there more?

Brown: Yes.

Miller: Please continue.

Brown: He was torturing her was all. I know that now. I can see that now that I’m out. Now that I’m free.

Miller: You act like you were a prisoner there?

Brown: I lived there. It may as well have been prison. Staff who misbehaved, as he would call it, wouldn’t show up for work one day. He would say they had been dismissed. But then a new patient would arrive that same morning. Those times the patients would arrive with shaved heads, in straight jackets, gagged, handcuffed…all of it. They were taken to the vault wing. (pause) The vault wing was rows of six by six cells with nothing but a latrine outlet and a door. No light. Nothing. Blackman said that those patients were the worst of the worst from Angola. Real head cases. Incurable. Sent to Kingwood by the State to be (pause) handled. That’s why I’m here. He was torturing employees and hospital staff. I was next.

Miller: Now, Ms. Brown, you’re making some pretty hard accusations here! Dr. Blackman is a respected…

Brown: I was there. I saw it. I helped. And now I’ve told you so it’s your problem! You have to

On Friday, June 3^rd, the Kingwood Asylum traveled to Clear Lake, TX for the hed2head Tour 2.0.

The concert was held at the Scout Bar. Packed and ready for a riot, the crowd was at max testosterone levels when we walked in. We had a killer time watching The Hectic and Hed P.E. tear up the stage. These two bands brought so much damn energy to the bar. I had a hard time balancing my need to take pictures instead of charging the pit. After both bands had reeked their damage on the crowd it was time for Mushroomhead to hit the stage. The bar was so packed and amped that while the roadies prepped the stage, Pantera blared through the speakers and the crowd moshed and sang at max volume. It was awesome and comical all at the same time.

Mushroomhead, being the power house of bad ass that they are hit the stage with King Kong force. I was efin’ blown away by the energy they spewed. The concert was a blender of lights, drums, savage cords, criminal lyrics and a stage performance that can only be experienced live.

I drained my memory cards on my Canon 5d / 85mm 1.2 while the rest of the Kingwood Asylum team broke bread with the bands. All three bands are interested in performing at the Kingwood Asylum this year. I guess we will just have to wait and see if these wild dreams come true.

2010 Paper Mache Scarecrow Design Tutorial

Prop Building

Last haunt season, I decided to build a few scarecrows for the front yard of our Kingwood Asylum. I wanted to create something completely different from the standard scarecrow you might find at a haunt. The scarecrow needed to wicked, evil looking and looming. My other determining factor in building these devils was cash flow. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on supplies.

Paper mache was the answer. I sketched out a few illustrations of what I had in mind and then created a “supplies list”.

Here is what I came up with: Elmers Wood Glue, 1 large bucket, 10 metal coat hangers, 2 rolls of masking tape, 1 marker, oodles of newspaper, 2 pieces of pvc pipe, 1 metal rod to go in the pvc pipe, a wig and spray paint.

Step 1
The first step is to create the clavicle and spinal cord with the pvc pipes. I used a general measurement from my torso to judge the width of both clavicles. I also attached the metal coat hangers for the arms. Sticking to my original sketch, I made the arms much longer than a humans would be.

Step 2
In step number two I used chalk to mark out my coat hanger positions. I took the hangers and twisted them together making sure to leave enough tag to attach the head and arms to the torso. I then began to attach newspaper with masking tape to the clavicles and spinal cord. I didn’t need to make the wrapping very beefy because I would add a lot more structure to the scarecrow once I had the body assembled.

Step 3
In step three I started rolling up a ton of paper balls and arranging them to create the body of the scarecrow. I did this for both sides of the body. Once the shape was created, I taped it down with the masking tape. I then repeated the process to give the scarecrow depth. This was a starting point for making the scarecrow three dimensional. The paper balls also become the intestines once the scarecrow if fully assembled.

Step 4
In step four, I attached the torso with wire hangers to the pvc pipe and the arms to the torso. Once the scarecrow body was up on the pvc pipe, I began stuffing more paper balls behind the back of the scarecrow to fill in the void. I used a lot of paper balls and masking tape to give the scarecrow a full body. I also taped paper balls on and around the outside of the pvc pipe. This allowed me to use the pvc pipe as the spinal cord.

Step 5
Step five is a fun one. It’s time to create the skull / head. I started with a paper ball and built it up until I had enough of a skull shape formed. I then added in cheek bones and other features that would be identifiable once I cut the eyes and mouth out. I tried to make the head as close to human size or larger as possible. It would have been easier to make a small head… but seriously! What’s the point if I want a looming, scary scarecrow.

Step 6
It’s finally time to cover the torso and arms in paper mache. Create a 1:1 ratio of glue to water in your bucket. Cut the newspaper into strips and start covering the torso and arms with the paper mache. This is a messy process for anyone that hasn’t done it before. I’d recommend working over a surface you don’t mind destroying with copious amounts of glue. This will take a little love and time to get right. I let mine dry for about 6 hours.

Step 7
The hands are a labor of love. I like the long fingers that Tim Burton uses with his characters. I used clipped coat hangers, tape and newspaper to create the hand and fingers. This takes a while if you wrap and roll each finger with newspaper and tape. In my opinion, the freaky long fingers make the scarecrow.

Step 8
It’s time to attach the head. Use the extra length of the spinal cord coat hangers to attach the head to the body. This will allow you to start filling in the traps and shoulder area for a more balanced upper body.

Step 9
With all of the different body parts attached and ready for paint, it’s time to cut out the eyes, nose and mouth. I used an exacto blade to cut all of the voids into the head. I wanted to open the jaw really wide for the intestines to hang out of. This part will take a while. You don’t want to mess up and make a wrong cut. Trust me, if you have made it this far you just want the cutting to be over so you can start paint. Band aids are helpful if it’s 3am in the morning and you have topped off a twelve pack. ~Just saying.

Step 10
It’s always good to get a middle of the night shot with your new scarecrow. Don’t be embarrassed if you feel short and semi silly for posing with a bunch of paper, tape, glue and coat hangers. It’s fun for the entire family.

Step 11
Time to cut out the abdomen and start unraveling all of the paper balls you used to create the torso with. Once you have cut out the section of abdomen to reveal the intestines, you need to cut away a lot of the masking tape and pull the paper gently away from the outer shell. Twist and ravel the paper to create the intestines. This takes a while and is easier to do if you have your favorite tunes blaring in the background.

Step 12
Grab some spray paint and go to town. Our scarecrows were used in the front of the haunt with low red lighting. I used strong black, white and grey colors to give the creature more dimension. I also added in a wig so that the scarecrow had more of a “rocker” look and feel.

Step 13
Take your scarecrow out of the lab and place it somewhere in the front yard or around your dwelling. Make sure that everything is painted and looking the way you want. Paint the rest of the pvc pipe that is below the scarecrow. This is where the iron rod comes in handy. Take the iron rod and insert it into the pvc pipe for extra support. If you don’t do this critical step, your scarecrow will lean over and kiss the cement.

Step 14
Take one more shot with your large mass of paper and glue. This comes in handy the next time you’re unsure if your a complete idiot for spending so much time on what second graders do for class projects.

Step 15
Make a few more scarecrows so that they won’t be lonely. Once you have made three or more, it’s time to fry some bigger fish. I suggest making blood with dawn soap and tempera paint.

2011 The Kingwood Asylum hosted a Haunted House for the 2011 KHS Seniors

Kingwood High School

On Saturday, May 28^th, the Kingwood Asylum hosted a haunted house for the graduating seniors of Kingwood High School.

Organized by the Kingwood Asylum, the haunt was a lot of fun and a big hit with the KHS seniors and staff.

The entire set was built with sweat and tears in under a month. We created over 5,000 square feet of haunt for the seniors to enjoy.

The setup and production of the haunt took the efforts of a very large team of family, friends and enthusiasts. The Kingwood Asylum team would like to officially thank everyone that helped build the haunt, act during the production and strike the set.

2011 The Kingwood Asylum hosts a fund raiser for Project Graduation.

Kingwood High School

On Saturday, May 14^th, the Kingwood Asylum teamed up with Kingwood High School and the Society of Saint Stephens to raise funds for project graduation.

Organized by the Kingwood Asylum, the event was a lot of fun and very profitable.

Tickets for the event were sold at the Kingwood High School and were also available at the car wash.

With the help of several volunteers from the Kingwood Asylum and KHS, the car wash raised over 900 dollars.

The Kingwood Asylum and all of the volunteers would like to thank everyone that stopped by for a car wash. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
