Let’s start with the announcement first, shall we? Since childhood, I have had two major loves. One, photography, should be no surprise to anyone. The other, medicine, may surprise some of you, but not those who know me very well. I have wanted to work in the medical field since I was 5 years old. I even had my first stethoscope by the time I was 16 years old. So, with that, I have realized how much more I would still love to work in the medical field, specifically as a nurse. I have taken a very long time to pray about it and talk it over with my family and have decided to close up shop and go to nursing school. I will officially be closed at the end of this calendar year and have already had my final photo shoot.

I haven’t photographed twins in a while.  So I put out a call for a set of twins a few months ago and a friend of mine referred these two sweet little ones to me.  On the day of the session, it seemed like everything was working against us!  There was a ton of hail, tornado warnings, mom & dad had construction going on and had a meeting that morning and my regular assistant, Wendy, couldn’t make it.  But, it was good to remind myself of all that goes into photographing twins and how different they are than singlets.  In the end, we got some beautiful shots and I’m happy with how things turned out.  I hope mom & dad love them too!!!  Thank you!

You all know how much I love newborns!  But, sometimes you meet a fresh little newborn and his mommy & daddy and truly fall in love!  Watching Jaxson’s mommy & daddy love on him and love on each other was one of the brightest spots in my year already.  It was just incredible to be in their presence as they interacted with one another and trusted us with their precious new gift.  Wendy, my assistant, and I left with a glow of joy after working with them and I know you will have the same response when you see their beautiful images!

Last week I posted about photographing some friends.  This week, I get to share the 2 adorable girls of my friend & co-writer here, Christy.  All of the great posts about food and things to do around Memphis?  Yeah, that’s Christy!  She’s awesome and I love her and her family to death!  We were thrilled to get some great weather on the day that we planned to meet up at the Memphis Botanic Garden to see what kind of fun we could have photographing Allie & Lydia!  Of course, we found a lot!  There is such variety there and it’s always a challenge to try and find a different angle or shot when going back to a place where lots of photographers shoot.

We loved the results and hope you enjoy them!  Thank you so much, Christy, for all of the great articles you’ve contributed!  We’re going to miss you and your sweet face when you move back to TX this summer!

So, I’m still playing catch up and have many more sessions to blog, but this little guy is just eat ‘em up yummy!  I had the privilege of photographing his mommy & daddy’s engagement session and their wedding, so what a blessing it was a year later to photograph their precious new baby boy!  He is absolutely adorable and could not have more wonderful parents!  If it sounds like I’m gushing, well, I am.  I really love this family and have been so glad to be involved in the big moments of their lives.  I look forward to many years to come of fabulous images as their family grows!

I love photographing my friends kids.  I love photographing kids who become my sweet little friends. 

If you’re thinking about a session, but are concerned about all of the crazy weather we’re having here in Memphis, keep in mind that we can get some fabulous images in your own home.  Yes, it’s true!  You may not think you have the most beautiful and perfect house, but no worries, we make it work and find the awesome light in your home.  Light is everything in photography and everyone has some somewhere in their house.  Well, unless you live in a cave with no windows and no doors, but even then, I bet I could find some great light at the entrance!  Lol.

I love adoption.  I am an adoptive parent and am proud of it!  So, it’s only natural that one of the ways I enjoy giving back to the community is to donate sessions to adoptive families who have adopted within the past 12 months.  I offer 1 per month on the months that I have time available and it is such a blessing.  I got a call a few weeks ago to photograph Denise’s new baby boy, Knox, that she had just brought home.  I was thrilled to be able to do it for her and was glad that I had the time available.  He is just precious and we are so happy for them both!

If you know someone who is interested in one of these sessions, my next available month is July.   If you’re interested in adopting, please feel free to email me and we can discuss it.  I’d be happy to help you find the right organization or just talk you through what the process looks like.  There are too many kids out there in need of a loving family.  You have room in your heart and your home.  I promise you will not regret it!

I have a confession to make.  I new I was behind on blogging, but I had NO idea I was this far behind on blogging.  So, look out, the next few weeks are going to be filled to the brim with new sessions and lots of adorable belly’s and babies!

To start things off, I’d like to introduce Charlie.  Some of you that “Like” my Facebook Page have already seen this big boy, but I don’t want to neglect these lovely pages and so, I share this sweet yummy newborn goodness.  He was over 9lbs when he was born and at just a few days old, already looked a few months old.  He was sweet though and gave us some great poses.  Dad loves baseball, so we had to add an element of that love.

Wow!  It feels like forever since I blogged any sessions.  I’ve been so busy with so many different things between business and family that my blog has been somewhat neglected.  Well, if you’ve missed seeing my beautiful clients, get ready, because we’re about to start seeing a whole lot more in the coming weeks.

These two little ones hold a special place in my heart, as their family is good friends with ours.  In fact, Charlie is my daughter’s little boyfriend.

There are so many great things about Memphis in the Spring!

Just about anywhere you can catch a glimpse of flowers and trees blooming and there are new trails and playgrounds to explore. Shelby Farms new playground facility is scheduled to open this spring – The Woodland Discovery Playground. The Germantown Greenway and Memphis Greenline have both been huge successes as families with kids on bikes and strollers, runners, or those with bikes getting some exercise have enjoyed the paved walkways throughout Memphis.

During the month of March, The Pink Palace Museum and Lichterman Nature Center offer free admission on Tuesday afternoons after 1pm. They are advertising new programs that you can check out here.

The Farmers Markets in the area will be opening next month. You can check out the times and locations here. I’m anxious to get my hands on some fresh fruits and veggies and explore new dishes. I jumped the gun and made a sandwich using fresh spinach and tomato, with a side of strawberries and blueberries.
