When you purchase a new home there may be a number of things you want to renovate. Among the top of the list these days, is adding a beautiful hardwood floor. This look offers beauty, value, and extra life. But there are several things to consider when installing hardwood.  Depending on the amount of time you have, you may want to try to get rid of the tile... but this isn't always plausbile

When shopping for homeowners insurance, take it in three steps. These three steps will streamline your shopping experience and find you the best possible deal quickly (it's not necessarily Geico). Let me first say, once you get a quote, share it with the other guys. That may seem mean to the person who worked up the first quote, but it saves the other guys time in asking "what kind of

In recent months there have been more website security attacks than I’ve ever seen before.  These attacks have mainly come in two different classes. Malicious Virus Attacks The first is just plain old malicious and mean – the type of attack that makes you wonder “do these people have a life?”  These attacks infect other websites which install software onto your computer and destroy

So I do a lot of bragging about northwest Atlanta where there is Marietta, and then far south of Atlanta where there is a wonderful place called Peachtree City... but I've been neglecting South Atlanta. South Atlanta is a place where there are beautiful lakes, friendly as ever people, and good food. South Atlanta is where you go if you want to make a friend with the barber and just about

Have you ever been in the blogging mood? If not, let me describe it: you have things on your mind, your want to tell somebody, your wife is reading a book, and your fingers want to move. Thus, blogging becomes the outlet. Work is awesome! It's great to be able to do things that you really enjoy. For example, today I made a few websites, while working on several technical issues. The issues

We recently bought a vacuum. Yay. Here are my thoughts on the vacuum - it sucks. Okay, that was not intended to come out, but I started typing and couldn't stop. I did about a days worth of research reading reviews, and going to the stores. In the end, this was the highest powered vacuum with all the features that we were looking for that seems to be durable. It better be durable! The next

It's been ages since I've written here! I'm not graduated, have two part time jobs, and I work in an entirely different industry than before (which was sales). I guess I shouldn't say entirely different, because almost everything is sales. But I'm out of retail! My two jobs are at 1) Extension Marketing and 2) Boomerang Leads. I'm enjoying both of them quite a bit, and I'm loving everything I

It's come and gone! Now I'm excited for the career phase of my life (though I'm even more excited for retirement).Work hard, keep learning and improving... if I stick to that, I think everything is going to be great!

I'm going to graduate! And since it's been a year since my last post, I now am married to Jessica! She is also going to graduate, and commencement is in 48 days. I feel like I've done a lot of good preperation; volunteering here and there, taking my time and doing well in my internships. Now I just have to market myself. That means that it is time for me to job hunt, and I'm starting now. I'm

Kirk Salisbury4/19/2010Career DayI attended the print journalism panel for career day.I found it incredibly interesting that almost all of the professionals in print, had not intended to have that be their career path. I believe it was two of the six that intended on it. I also found it comforting to know that I was in good company when it came to people who were uncertain about their future.

"I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that ever happened to me... It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your

The Fall semester of my third year at USU is coming to a close. And this semester I will be able to say that I have done so much more than any previuos semester. Yes, the previuos semesters I was an engineering student, so I'm not discrediting engineering - but with PR I feel like I'm actually going places and doing things. So as this semester comes to a close, I'd like to think back to a few of

I heard the news just the other day, so I went to the closest grocer, Lee's Marketplace, searched and I found nothing. So I stopped the store manager mid-conversation with another employee, and said "Do you know if Tim Tams are here?" He replied, "Well, the Pepperidge Farm guy was having trouble getting them to us, let me see if they're on the shelf yet." After a short walk we found them and

Can't get enough of photoshop today. It was a simple process, just time consuming. I created four different layers, one for the sky, the ground, the car, and myself. After doing that, I played with the color balance on each one, and we have a tripppy new world.

Kirk Salisburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447602367736758130noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081109922970642227.post-91164443952407389692009-11-20T12:47:00.002-07:002009-11-20T12:48:38.263-07:00

Another fun quick job, in basically 2 steps.1: Add both images, making sure the pumpkin layer is on top.2: Choose the blending options, and find one that works best for you. I chose the linear dodge option.

This was a fun quick photoshop job.1: Duplicate layer2: Color overlay, play around with which overalay setting you like the most.3: Delete the top of the lid.Wa-la.

Kirk Salisburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447602367736758130noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081109922970642227.post-21716267229270789952009-11-20T12:20:00.004-07:002009-11-20T12:26:32.013-07:00

There were 4 easy steps to change this picture.1: Color balance - I removed most of the yellow.2: I duplicated the layer, and cut myself out of the duplicated layer.3: I then increased the darkness and contrast to make myself less washed out.4: Dodged the dark areas and burned the bright areas to give it less of the flash effect, but only so much could be done. This was me being the first
