I am going to be working with Kroma Makeup....<br /><br />I am going to be at The Plaza Hotel in New York every Friday afternoon to help with everyone's makeup needs. This makeup line is very exciting, they have a great primer and the line is primarily waterproof...this due to the fact that they are out of the Florida area and are used to the hot weather...AND...Kroma also does custom blending....yeah...you heard me!<br /><br />They have a ton of great colors and an amazing collection of foundations, concealers and powders....I am really excited to be working with Kroma!<br /><br />But....I am only there on Fridays so be sure to come see me then! I am always asked if brushes are important and I can truly say that they are....<br /><br />They are the tools for great makeup application! And investing in good brushes is key....a good set of brushes will not only last you a long time they could save you on makeup. Yep, that's right...save you on makeup...huh. Never thought of that one, did ya?<br /><br />The reason good brushes can help save makeup is, for example, a foundation brush does not absorb the foundation the way a sponge does (nor will it contaminate it like your hands will) so you end saving about half your foundation. Now these aren't your lime crazy greens these are the soft muted greens that look beautiful on the skin. They almost melt right into it. I know I have been away for some time, my schedule has been CRAZY!! While that is no excuse for not keeping up with my blog, I know...its the truth. I wanted to talk about something today that I have noticed is a trend with some of my clients and models....<br /><br />Skin....<br /><br />We have touched on this before, but I want to talk about the ugly part of it...acne. Ugh, Ick....I know....it happens to a lot of us at some point in our lives. And to some in adulthood. It can be very distressing... you go through your teenage years, thinking you slid by with great skin and then...the Pimple Fairy comes along and...Wham! And there you are, stuck with breakouts. But there are some basic tricks that can help you keep your skin clear, whether you are having minor or major issues.<br /><br />First and Foremost....<span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Keep your hands off of your face!!</span> </span> Everything you touch during the day<br /> is put on your skin every time you touch your face. All those gross germs<br /> and bacteria from God know who or what....(sounds like your Mom, right? I am one...sorry) <br /><br />Second ...................<span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Don't pick at you face!</span><span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"> </span> This is vital to keep you from scarring as well<br /> as keeping your skin clearer. I know this is a hard one, but pimples will go<br /> away better on their own if they are left alone...And no scarring!<br /><br />Third..........................<span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Change your pillow case every other day.</span><span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"> </span> This may sound odd, but even<br /> with washing your face every night, you are putting your "clean" face on a<br /> pillow case that has oil and dander on it from a week or more. This is then<br /> getting pushed back into your "clean" skin, clogging your pores and can<br /> cause breakouts. This is one is amazing!<br /><br />Fourth.......................<span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204); font-style: italic;">Keep your phones clean.</span> Try to keep your cell phone and landlines clean.<br /> You can go to your local drugstore or grocery store and purchase alcohol<br /> wipes to keep oil and bacteria off of your phones.<br /><br />Fifth and Finally.......<span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Wash your face LAST in the shower.</span> When you shower, shampoo and<br /> condition your hair first...shower.... shave (if needed)...rinse and then wash<br /> your face LAST. This will keep any of the conditioner from running down<br /> onto your face in the shower. And as always, I do recommend that you<br /> exfoliate a couple of time a week (mixed in with your face wash) to help<br /> remove the dead skin cells and unclog your pores!<br /><br /><br />Well I hope that some of this information helps....you can always contact me if you have any questions! The shame is men always seem to have them, while some of us women are left to envy those fluttery wings....it just doesn't seem fair!<br /><br />And we try EVERYTHING...eye primers, mascaras, fake lashes and now of course Latise...which gives you those sweet, sweet lashes at a price of $75 per month! <br /><br />I know that pain of losing your favorite mascara...yes I'm venting, its my blog I'll do what I want....I was truly in love with Loreal's Lash Arcitect (waterproof formula); I used it for years. Then BAM its gone! Just gone....oh the pain!! I tried everything after that...and I mean everything. My friends, I went through 17 different mascaras! Sephora loved me, I spent a small fortune trying to find something, anything that measured up to my Loreal mascara...and I'm still searching. I am now stuck using a lash primer and then a Mascara. I use Fresh mascara, its awesome, but I need the primer to keep my lashes curled. And in my makeup kit I use the one and only Great Lash by Maybelline.<br /><br />Now for those of you who are interested in enhancing your look with fake lashes here are some simple steps to help you apply them!<br /><br />I always use the dark glue, while the clear glue is good I find that it doesn't always dry "clear" so I suggest that you buy the dark Duo Glue (in the pink &amp; white tube).<br /><br />ALWAYS put lashes on after you do your eye makeup. If you are doing simple or the no makeup look, then use black eye liner under your fake lashes to help them look more natural...<br /><br />Start by applying a thin coat of glue along the base of the lash, hold in the shape of a "U" for about 10 seconds...this gives the glue time to get tacky.<br /><br />Then tilt your head back....as far as you can, but still being able to see....gently put the lash at the base of your lash line, starting in the center and working your way out. Then press onto the inner lashes. And of course it depends on your skin tone how the makeup will turn out. I have seen a red lipstick completely change color depending on who wears it, and the same goes for pink, peach and beige tones.<br /><br />Being completely honest....I have a huge addiction for MAC's Nymphette Lipglass...its my fav! I wear it almost everyday, and when I do freelance for them I sell the crap out of it! This lipglass, to me is the perfect mix of a neutral pink/peach. It goes with everything and works on almost every skin tone. Its wearable alone or over lipstick...I love, love, love it!<br /><br />But...we are not here to talk about my addiction...<br /><br />I have found the easiest way to find if an shadow or lipstick works for you is to apply it to the back of your hand...now I know you have heard this part before...BUT...what you want to look for is the the veins in your hand. If these veins become more prominent, then this color does NOT work for you. Because if this color causes your veins to become more prominent, it will make the dark circles under your eyes show more. It can also bring out the other imperfections...as well as possibly age you. Now...who wants that?? And we know most will say that less is more (and its true)<span style="font-weight: bold;"> if</span>...you can do it and still feel comfortable. Now...I know that there are those that don't feel comfortable or "safe" going out without a full face or full coverage makeup. If this is the case, for this time of year I recommend getting yourself a long wear foundation. <br /><br />This type of makeup also works well with all skin types...there are foundations for dry, normal and oily skin. As well as varying SPFs for sun protection.<br /><br />Even though these are long wear, I do recommend using a light powder to set your foundation and reduce shine. Do remember that most of the long wear will have more coverage, and they should be able to be layered, reducing or eliminating the need for concealer. First I was perusing through the new summer issue of V magazine and saw the Alexander McQueen Eyes ad...Hmmm...What can I say? I think its in poor taste to have two skulls with sunglasses on them, with the Designer having died just this year.<br /><br />To me the ads scream death, and remind me of the loss of such an unconventional, and brilliant man who was so hugely innovative to the fashion world.<br /><br />Well...it felt good to get that off my chest. I just had to say it. Not that anyone out there is listening but at least it feels good...<br /><br />*****<br /><br />So as I look through the rest of V, I notice the trend of skin, skin, skin...Its everywhere and its just flawless. Not that everyone really looks like that, but there are things that we can do to try.<br /><br />It does really help to exfoliate...really taking off all that dead skin helps reveal that beautiful skin underneath.<br /><br />Next...is moisturizing, that helps your skin retain it natural softness that gets depleted through the hot showers, shaving, blah, blah....If you want some "color" you can use a moisturizer that tints the skin with time. HINT: I generally use those after I have applied some lotion already for more even application...<br /><br />And lastly...protection...oohh the p-word....yes, sunscreen. Its vital to protect your skin, especially if you don't want to look 40 when your 25...Sorry that's just how it is! I know that all of you little sun goddesses don't believe it can happen to you, but someday you will be tapped on the shoulder by the Wrinkle Fairy and she's a bitch!
