Did you know that bridal bouquets originated way back in ancient civilization? Back then brides would carry bunches of garlic, herbs & spices to keep evil spirits at bay and in ancient Greece & Rome the Bride & Groom would wear a garland around their necks to symbolize new life, hope & fertility. I love bridal bouquets and am constantly impressed with the variety I see in each wedding I photograph. One of my favourites so far has to be the fruit bouquet at a Chinese wedding I photographed recently.

Four Corners (Byron Bay & Northern Rivers Family Portrait Photographer)

The Effeney family travel from all over the world every 2nd year to celebrate Christmas together. They have a tradition of taking a family portrait each time, which started over 30 years ago when Susan and David had their first child. Thirty odd years, six grown-up kids, four partners and seven grand-daughters (all under the age of four) later, it was my turn to help keep the tradition going.

This is Susanna. She’s building a business empire. She wanted some corporate head shots that weren’t too stuffy and didn’t look too much like corporate head shots. We spent a morning together and these are a few of what we came up with – I think they are just lovely and show Susanna’s warm personality and how she wanted to come across just perfectly.

Family photography has become my absolute favourite thing to shoot over this past year or so. Today’s blog post is a really special one to me as the Mummy in this family is my best friend of fifteen years. While I was in Sydney recently I got to spend some much missed quality time with Danielle & her beautiful family. Dan & Maarten have just bought their very first home, have the most divine little man Dexter and have baby number two on the way – so I wanted to give them a photo shoot that celebrated this beautiful moment in their lives. I hope you love it as much as I do.
