I’m obsessed with this Biker Melange jacket from Anthropologie. This Fall I’m prepared to make two big purchases - A great leather jacket and a killer pair of black boots. I think I’ve settled on this jacket at Anthro and for much less than I anticipated. Now when it comes to the boots - I am debating going over the knee, thoughts?

The main project I have been working on this summer is online research community Ytribes. We believe that what we are doing with Ytribes is just the start of a much larger online research community movement. We believe so strongly in this idea that we partnered with Carol Phillips and submitted a panel to SXSW to discuss GenY Research Communities. There is a very intense decision process to decide who gets to speak at next years conference - a large part being the online panel picker.

Description of the GenY Research Communities Panel:

Based on a similar motivation, two research-based communities Ytribes and Millennial Marketing ‘Super Consumer’ Community launched early in 2010. Both communities were built around gathering research and insights on the Millennial generation. Each community utilized open source platforms (Kickapps and Ning) to house the environment and facilitate engagement. The end goal of gathering qualitative research from consumers and turning the content into valuable and actionable material is shared by both communities. The approaches however, were very different. This panel will explore the purpose, ideation, success, failures, results and implications not only of developing a research-based community but also maintaining and monetizing such a project. From gaining Sr. Management buy-in to selling through to a client, we will discuss what we learned, what worked and what didn’t.

Here are the questions we plan on answering with our panel discussion:

Why did we develop our communities?
How did we grow our communities?
What are the differences between our two communities?
How are we utilizing our communities?
What are the implications and learning from our communities?

The BIG NEWS!

I'm making my Monday deadline by about 6 minutes. This afternoon I went live as the 12th and newest member of life-casting platform, Non-Society! Those of you who have kept up with K&T know that I've been a long time follower on Non-Society, and more specifically Julia Allison's career. For those who are unfamiliar with Non-Society, it is a life-casting platform made up of branded personalities that each have a specific niche. My life-cast will deal a lot with social media, but it is also going to follow my day to day life. It is just like reality tv, just on the internet!

I've had a lot of people ask me why I choose to join Non-Society since I have my own blog. I will tell you what I told Julia Allison, I felt that K&T was getting stale. Plain and simple. I had made such a point to keep all content "on brand". I don't talk much about my job, social media, or my relationships - really the things that make up my life. I love a great H&M dress and #manicuremondays as much as the next girl, it just isn't the whole story. I gave some thought into turning K&T into a life-cast, but that felt like a bait and switch. My readers, You (wonderful and amazing YOU!), have come back every day and expect to see certain content. It just didn't seem fair to all the sudden start talking about digital strategy and my new obsession with debating the difference between age vs. life-stages. Joining Non-Society will allow me to do that.

So what does this mean for K&T? Will I continue to post? And if so, how often? What content will go where?

I'm still trying to work out some of these answers, but here is what I have so far. K&T isn't going any where. At this point it is so apart of who I am I couldn't even fathom getting rid of it. I will continue to post as much as I can. As I've mentioned countless times before, I am currently working with a site designer. Together, she and I have switched platforms 3 times now. Now that I am on Non-Society we have decided to build K&T2.0 on Tumblr. This will make reblogging between the two sites very fluid. In the beginning I'm sure I will be re-blogging more from my life-cast onto K&T versus the other way around. I think this is going to be a little bit of trail and error, and to be honest and I intend on things being shaky at the beginning. But I promise I will do my best.

And now... time for the mushy stuff. I just really wanted to say thank you. I started this blog in 2008 because I had something to say. I wasn't sure what at the time, but I knew it was something. Over the past two years, through this blog, I have found my voice and found my passion. Seeing readers come back day after day has been the most amazing support and motivation. Every opportunity I have received in the past year has been because of this site and because of YOU. I don't take that for-granted and I will do my best to stay faithful to You, my loyal readers, who have been reading since brown rice sushi and feathered purses. I hope that you will follow along with me on my Non-Society life-cast and support me in this new chapter of my life.

Four Square & Wish List!

I'm very excited to announce the start of Wish List's Four Square contest! I think this is probably one of the most exciting projects I've worked on so far. This is such a new and innovative way to use this technology and I can't wait to see the results!

For those of you who aren't familiar with Four Square : It is a geolocation game, your phone is able to read where you are and give you a list of possible places to "check in" depending on your location. Once you check in you will be able to see a list of friends who have also been there and their tips - Check in the most at any one location and become a Mayor! What is really exciting about Four Square is it is a social media platform that works so well with brands and companies to be able to give back to their loyal following. Large establishments like Starbucks have began to utilize Four Square, but now even your favorite local boutique can recognize your loyalty!

Starting today - July 31, 2010 shop at any of the 3 Wish List locations and "check-in". Whoever holds the Wish List "Mayor-ship" by the end of July will receive a $100 Wish List gift certificate! I got this poster as a Birthday present and just brought it to my office today. Its just the touch my male dominated work space needed.

I looked at Kiss & Type for the first time in over a week last night and it dawned on me that I’ve been a very, very bad blogger. I find that when there are really exciting things going on in my life is when I blog the least, and when I really should be blogging the most. I’m going to try to fill you in a little, but I have a pretty HUGE announcement that is going to have to wait till Monday. Now for the less exciting stuff first (otherwise known as my excuses)… As you guys know I’m a consultant – which means work doesn’t come to me, I go to it. I’ve been in and out of the city 2-3 days a week just taking meetings and trying to secure new work. As much as I love Manhattan, running around the city in the summer and just trying to show up not looking like a literal “hot mess” is exhausting enough – now add on top of that having to pitch new work – it feels almost impossible. I’m also about to launch a contest next week with a new client, so for the past two weeks have been over seeing the execution of that. Oh yeah, and that research community I’ve been working on almost full time launched in Beta this month. And all of this isn’t even my BIG NEWS! I wish I could say that I will be catching up on blogging this weekend, but lets be honest, the forecast says its going to be 80 and sunny? I’m on the boat.

For those of you who are still checking in daily, I’m so sorry and thank you! Be sure to check back in on Monday for my BIG ANNOUNCEMENT … soon you’ll be getting more of me than you could ever possibly need! And that’s all I can say about that.

Colony Pizza in Fairfield

I've been a long time lover of Colony Pizza. In the Stamford (not so ascetically charming) location I've been quite a regular, taking down a whole onion and hot oil myself, thank you very much. So when I met the one of the owners a few weeks back I practically hugged her when she told me that they were opening a second location in Fairfield. I missed the opening when I was in Montauk so this weekend I finally made it up. I walked in close to 9pm on Friday night and the place was packed and it was still that way when we left at 11pm. This place is turning such a crowd that they've actually had to order two additional ovens. There was something so great about the energy in there, I know that sounds cheesy, but Colony is now owned by a group of best friends and you can really tell that when you're there. The new owners take such pride in ensuring to each customer that yes, this is the same amazing Colony Pizza. The new location is twice the size of the Stamford location with a great bar space and awesome exposed brick walls.

The pizza is better then ever and the teeny-tiny juice glasses have gotten just the size upgrade they needed - what more could you ask for?

Here's the beige bag with the perfect amount of gold hardware. I said it was under $40, but its actually under $30! This bag is much larger than it look. It fits my laptop and some. Between work bags, over night bags, and going out clutches I've had 5 bags in play - I have to admit that it was refreshing to empty them all out and replace them with just this one.

And if anyone is going to give you crap about wearing a cheap F21 fake leather bag, just tell them its animal friendly and to suck it. :)

This weekend I did a little bit of very manageable damage at Forever21. It was love at first sight with this dress in the Navy. It is so adorable on - the perfect mix of nautical and girly. I also picked up this great beige shoulder bag with the perfect amount of gold hardware for under $40, but unfortunately there isn't a picture of it up on their site. I know I'm 25, but there is still nothing better than a dirt cheap Forever21 dress.

The Battle of the Skinny-Cargos

Congratulation J Brand, your Houlihan skinny-cargos are the summer's must have pant. Who ever is in charge of PR over there needs a raise because I haven't been able to open one magazine without a mention somewhere, seriously. Everyone knows I love good pair of J Brands, but I just couldn't justify spending the $228 for pants I know I'd only where a handful of times. Granted the Houlihan's do have that amazing seam at the knee that I swear to you has the ability to make any pant great, but still they were a solid C-Note out of my range. Instead I settled on a pant that had almost all of the detailing I was looking for at less than half the price, Level 99's World Over Cargos. I didn't even bother to try on the J Brand Houlihan's because I didn't want to torture myself, so I can't compare but the two, but Level 99's were amazing on.

I strongly suggest you go down a size in these. And if price wasn't enough, being able to fit into a size 26 for the first time since high school was just another reason I practically ran to the register.

New Obession : Coconut Water!

I discovered Coconut Water last weekend in Montauk and I've been on a bender ever since. At first sip I wasn't sure if I even liked it, but by the end of the bottle I was hooked. Zico is definitely my favorite brand, I've also tried Vita Coco and O.N.E (like I said, bender). Aside from being the water alternative for hydration, it also has twice the potassium as a banana. Speaking of hydration, everyone be sure to drink a ton of water this weekend!
