This is going to be the last post for this blog. I'm going to have make a whole new Madonna blog. I'll post the link here as soon as make I it.

I haven't posted on here in a while because I'm in waiting mode. I didn't want to think about it too much because you know how it is, the longer you watch the clock, the slower it goes. And it worked because it's already October and holy cow, less than a month until I see mother Madonna. I still have to go out and find my 'outfit' for the night. I will be wearing my usual 'Kiss Me Mrs. Ritchie' t-shirt. (And thank god her and Guy Ritchie are making it work because it saves me from ordering another shirt! Yes, I know. Selfish. Tell me something I don't know.)
I've been doing really good at not watching any of the concerts via youtube or even at any news outlets. It's especially hard when someone posts a video of her singing "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You." Because A. I LURVE that song and B. I saw her costume for it and ooooh.. I love the dramatics.
I wanted to also post this super cool video that was apparently made for her 50th birthday. Lots of her Hard Candy songs were incorporated which I love and of course, Madonna throughout the years, which I always love.

November 4th.
I have to wait until NOVEMBER 4th, meanwhile, in order not to spoil the show for me, I have to avoid all youtube posts that I see on Myspace and on various Madonna websites. I just cannot bear to watch the brilliance of a Madonna show through a shaky, bad quality camera lens. So I've just looked at pictures. Lord knows how long my willpower is going to last because believe me I'm tempted. If anything, I just want to see how the stage is set up. I'm 6th row, A8, so either way, that's a great fucking seat. Plus, I'm pretty much going to be casing the joint when I go to San Diego and just enjoying the show in general. L.A. is when it's going to be full on war-paint, front row or nothing mentality. ROWR.

So here's a lay out of what the stage should look like. Another catwalk of course, I wonder how close to the stage they let you get. I still can't believe I have to wait until November 4th.
The Queen was right, time does indeed go by so slowly.

Webcams at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany showed the set-up of the stage and early sound checks (before the feed was cut late this afternoon!).

These pictures show an interesting glimpse on how the stage, screens and rigging is set-up and prepared for tonights show.

I'm having heart palpitations.....

Member of Madonna Tribe's forum 'waynieboy' has posted first LQ photos of Sticky & Sweet Tour stage and a short description of the stage.

He also reports that there are at least three screens on or above the stage, one is a circular screen in the center, and the side screens are huge.
Accordng to the security employee, there are two platforms that come out at each side of the stage. He also stated this was the biggest production he has seen at the stadium.

There is also a catwalk, but supposedly it isn't as big as on the Confessions Tour.

Madonna's Influence on the history of Music.

Sorry I've been kind of MIA on this blog (if anyone even reads it but me. haha) but the posts will be heavy with concert stuff as soon.

A great article, Madonna getting the recognition she deserves:

There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll just come right out with it. As Madonna’s 50th birthday approaches on Aug. 16, it’s looking like her influence on pop music has outshone that of the Beatles.

Let me qualify the above statement before all the peace-and-love baby boomers start hating. It’s Madonna’s impact on the course of pop music that bests the Fab Four, not her sociological importance, songwriting skills or recording innovations. Influence means an artist has an effect on the future direction of music. While the Beatles influenced scads of artists in their time, after their breakup, their sound became yesterday’s news. Artists that tried to copy them (Badfinger, the Raspberries, Squeeze) seemed quaint or quirky.

But a quarter century after Madonna emerged, artists still use her ideas and seem modern and edgy doing so. Beyond the obvious Madonna wannabe 1980s singers, Madonna’s influence is felt in artists from Gwen Stefani to Britney Spears to boy bands, who found in the 1990s there was an audience beyond the old rock crowd.

Madonna, like Elvis, recast the focus of popular music. By emphasizing modern R&B grooves where most singers used rock beats, she was the catalyst that changed music from being rock-centric to being dance and R&B-oriented. (Disco, which influenced Madonna, might have done the same thing had it not died because of rock resentment.) It’s worth noting that before Madonna, most music mega-stars were guy rockers; after her, almost all would be female singers.

Combining genres, inventing styles How did this happen? Let’s scroll back to 1983, the year of Madonna’s first album. Like Elvis and the Beatles, Madonna combined genres. So her first two singles (“Everybody” and “Burning Up”) may have been lost on people because of the way they didn’t quite fit in with R&B or rock. Top 40 and MTV back then treated black music like a subgenre — not the backbone of 20th century American music, as it’s recognized now. With her music and videos, Madonna sliced away at genre straightjackets like a surgeon, opening the doors for the future hip-hop explosion.

As for style, well, Madonna’s rag-tag early clothing get-up defined much of what was to come in the 1980s. She was also perhaps the ultimate video pioneer, because her videos were integral to her presentation, not an appendage of it. Her career highlights came early on. She famously rolled around on the stage singing “Like a Virgin” in a wedding dress at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards. She had a featured role in “Desperately Seeking Susan” and got a huge hit out of that with “Into the Groove.” She topped the charts with “Crazy for You,” which wasn’t even on one of her albums. Forbes recently dubbed her the richest woman in music. The Billboard Book of Top 100 Hits lists her as the top female pop artist of the 1980s.

Women’s work
The word “female” is significant in that assessment of Madonna because she presented herself in a fresh way for women artists. She didn’t try to be one of the boys, but she wasn’t a girly-girl or a singer-songwriter. When the Beatles hit America, they changed the paradigm of performer from solo act to band. Madonna changed it back — with an emphasis on the female. With female artists everywhere these days, it’s easy to forget how revolutionary her success was (historically challenged Millennials especially seem not to realize this). But look at old music magazines or Billboard charts for proof that in the pre-Madonna era, women were the aberration, not the norm. Madonna’s countless hit records opened people’s minds as to how successful a female artist could be. Nineties artists such as Tori Amos and Bikini Kill have zilch in common with Madonna, but benefited from her opening the ears of teen-female pop fans to something other than the usual heavy metal shouters (trust me, teen girls in the 1980s loved that stuff). Her early audience was the recipient of some panic-stricken journalism early on, much of which took the tone of: “Madonna’s come to ruin your daughters!! Arghghgh!” The consensus then was that Madonna probably wouldn’t have the longevity of Cyndi Lauper (who immediately preceded her) and would disappear like other recent suggestive singers (remember Dale Bozzio? Terri Nunn?). But Madonna also had the Beatles-like tendency to anticipate the maturing of her audience and also the ability to reinvent her style. Her personal life became fodder for 1989’s “Like a Prayer,” just when her audience was looking beyond dance music. When Gen X grew more mature, she told erotic “Bedtime Stories” and unleashed her “Sex” book on the world.

Still in vogue
Madonna’s no-holds-barred example broadened the palette of what artists — especially female artists — could attempt. Liberate yourself, Madonna seemed to say, and the rest will follow. When her popularity didn’t fade, as predicted, people — especially skeptical Boomer critics — were forced to take her seriously. Madonna was also responsible for throwing off some of the unconscious modesty of pop music. Peripheral artists had attempted this, but Madonna was unique in that she brought a no-apologies approach to sex to her music. As she sung in “Burning Up:” “Unlike the others, I’d do anything / I’m not the same, I have no shame.” She could be calculating one minute and coy the next. Her concert tours, like 1992s “Girlie Show,” brought this to the fore, blurring sexuality, satire and social commentary. The late rock critic Lester Bangs observed in 1975 the Beatles’ jangly sound and somewhat naive worldview was unable to transcend its 1960s origins. Bangs never gave the band enough credit for their songs, but he was right that some of their continuing appeal was fueled by hippie era nostalgia. That’s still the case. It’s hard to get nostalgic about Madonna, though, because her influence stayed current. Not bad for someone who is about to hit the half-century mark.

MTV Classic Madonna Interview

Madonna was around 23 years old when this interview was conducted. She had just gotten famous and in the first few minutes of the interview you can see why she's been around so long. She was already thinking about business, how to invest her money, what's doing what and who's doing what, and who she needs to work with, etc. etc. Compare this 23 year old pop star to a 23 year old pop star today. I can't name one who comes off nearly as shrewd and quick witted. Most pop stars today are just smiley smiley happy to be getting all the money and can't wait to buy things, with pre-written answers to interview 'questions.'

I KNEW Madonna would not cheat on Guy (Leos are very loyal) ..especially with kids in the mix and I never thought in a million years she would cheat with a married man who just had a baby! (and not NEARLY as hot as Guy).

But I'm glad she spoke out on the subject anyways. The rumors have been all over the internet and I'm glad the Queen finally addressed her minions.

Madonna finally speaks out on her own accord, denying that she is divorcing director Guy Ritchie or having an affair with Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.

Madge tells People: “My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

She adds, “I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously. I also appreciate how fiction and fact seem to be perceived as one and the same by people who read both newspapers and the internet.”

US newspaper columnist and Madonna champion Liz Smith attended the Sticky & Sweet Tour rehearsals and offers this report:

'UHHH....I can't jump rope in high heels!'
'Really?'
'Well, not that high a heel.'
OK folks, who do we know who would jump rope (double dutch, too) in heels? Of course! It is our old friend, the indomitable Madonna.
La Ciccone has been rehearsing her 'Sticky and Sweet' tour in a massive space in New York. Her latest troupe of beautiful dancers is present, as is every other member of a massive Madonna undertaking. When the boss works, everybody works! It is 80 degrees and humid outside. Inside, it's a steam bath. Madonna does not enjoy air conditioning. (Audiences tend to leave her concerts having lost about 10 pounds in water weight.) Everybody looks whipped. Not Madonna.
Without makeup, her long blond hair lank, dressed in funereal black rehearsal togs, she looks fresher, younger and more vital than she does on the red carpet. (She also looks less muscular. Concert lighting and flash photography tends to over-emphasize her toned sinew.) She certainly shakes a tail feather like she is still writhing along the canals in Venice for the 'Like a Virgin' video, filmed before most of her dancers were born.
People close to Madonna, those who love her, are always saying, 'Why don't you relax more, have some fun?' Sometimes she will agree. But most of the time she doesn't bother to give concerned parties her life memo: hard work - pushing herself to the limit and most of all, dancing is her fun and relaxation. So many of her songs celebrate the power of dance and how it can free you - perhaps just temporarily - from immediate care.
Watching this star go through her paces, she seems not to have a care in the world, except to perfect her show. 'That sucked!' she declares after failing to execute her double dutch without error. 'I have to be better.' Madonna pauses and gives a mock scowl to her dancers, 'And so does everybody else.'
Later, she painstakingly explains her vision on one of the numbers. The choreographer is working only from an e-mail he just received from Madonna. She has her vision, now she has to communicate it. The number will feature four girls who are dressed up in various iconic versions of Madonna images past. She's laughing at her old 'looks' and discussing the particulars. 'At first I thought mannequins, then no, real girls would be better. Truthfully, I wanted drag queens - who does me better? But I figured that might be too much drama, you know - those girls love their scenes. And I provide enough of that!'
As Madonna recruits the dancers who'll stand and strike a pose, each holding or wearing a prop, the star will snatch away, the choreographer beams, 'Oh, this is getting so wickedly weird. Now I'm really loving it!'
Throughout the afternoon and evening, Madonna never flags, and never loses her sense of humor or the maternal camaraderie she always shares with her dancers.
Happily lost in her greatest love - her work - it doesn't seem the time or place to bring up her supposedly failing marriage or the betrayal of her brother, Christopher Ciccone, and his tell-all book. (Poor Christopher. He has made his bed, and already the peas in his mattress are the size of boulders. In the end, he will have helped sell a gazillion more tickets to his sister's concerts.) Will Madonna and Guy Ritchie separate? I don't know. I do know they have been deeply in love, very much in sync (certainly at one time), and both these strong-willed people have tried hard to accommodate the other.
The last time I saw Guy and Madonna together they couldn't have been more convivial and affectionate. They were in public, of course, so we take the proverbial grain of salt on that one. I don't think the towel is thrown in yet. It's damp and well used. It's hanging crooked on the shower stall. But it's not quite ready for the hamper. She has three children. She is not cavalier when it comes to divorce. (Remember, this is only her second marriage.)
Certainly Madonna does not look or behave like a woman whose marriage is on the rocks. She wouldn't show that face anyway; that's a great part of her appeal. She doesn't beg her audience for love or understanding. You either understand or you don't. Seen through the oft-distorted prism of the media, her ambition and 'manipulation' is not always admired. Still, many do admire her, without really admitting she has talent. Millions more worship her as a figure of empowerment and forging success in a man's world on a man's terms.
She's the music industry's Hillary Clinton, jumping rope in high heels.

Neither wind, nor rain, gas prices, nor the economy can slow down the momentum of Madonna fans who are turning out in record numbers all over the globe to scoop up tickets for the upcoming "Sticky & Sweet" Tour. Today, Live Nation confirmed that Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium shows scheduled for November 29th and 30th sold more than 100,000 tickets in just three hours, resulting in back to back sellouts at the famed stadium.

On June 16th, a photograph was leaked onto the Internet, featuring a piece of paper attached to a guitar case, reportedly at the base in Manhattan where the band and dancers are rehearsing without Madonna. MADONNA CELEBRATES ALBUM RELEASE WITH LIVE SHOW

Madonna celebrated the release of her new album "Hard Candy" with a live show at Roseland Ballroom in New York on Wednesday night (30APR08).

The star gave a typically electric performance, singing several new songs from her hotly anticipated new album for the first time.

Superstar Justin Timberlake joined the Material Girl on stage for "4 Minutes (To Save the World)" - the first single to be released from "Hard Candy" and already a hit.

Devoted fans had lined up for days outside Roseland Ballroom in order to see the gig.

Some went to extraordinary lengths. One super fan admitted "I paid $2000 for my ticket. I had someone stand on line and it was forfeited because it was not on my wrist."

Her friend did not think that was too much. She said, "Madonna is worth any amount of money. If you have it... I would fork up my tuition bill to see her. I actually did that with refunded money from school, actually. Spend money to get Madonna merchandise"

Madonna and her dancers wore Dolce and Gabbana at the show and thrilled the packed ballroom.

"Hard Candy" was released on April 29th.

Madonna's tour garners quick sell-outs

Initial on-sales for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour are off to a strong start, with quick weekend sell-outs reported in Paris (Sept.20), Boston (Oct.15), Chicago (Oct.26) followed by sell-outs in New York this morning.
Performances at Manhattan's Madison Square Garden Oct.6-7 quickly went clean, followed by third show now confirmed for Oct.11.
Tour will begin August 23 in Cardiff, Wales and play stadiums and arenas throughout Europe including a number of cities where Madonna has not performed in the past 15 years,or ever.
The Tour begins in North America October 4 at Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey with most U.S. dates going on sale now and May 24.

I can't believe I actually agreed with Perez Hilton on something. But he said that Madonna was the best live performer on the planet and if you've seen my girlfriend in concert, you'll know that that ain't no bullshit.

We started off our day meeting a representative in the lobby to take us for a "short walk" to the Roseland Ballroom. Short walk, meaning 10 blocks. Um....last I checked when blocks start going into the double digits, that's NOT a short walk. But it turns out I didn't even feel those 10 blocks because our representative was also a distant relative to Speedy Gonzalez. Mind you she was sheep herding about 40 winners from all over the place - most of whom were not from New York - and she decides to walk us at a cheetah's pace. Speedy was darting in and out of people, walking across streets that clearly had a red hand indicating NOT to walk. (If you know me but at all, I WILL NOT jaywalk...not because it's illegal or anything but because I'm a chicken shit, if a car came barreling my way, I'm pretty sure I'd stand there like a deer in headlights. ) and it was hard to see her because she was also about 2 inches taller than me. Finally, after about tackling 5 old people and running over toddlers, we caught up with her. We were outside of the Roseland Ballroom and it was a cluster fuck of disorganization. We were yelled at by the cops to walk around the block because the "special winners" had no designated area to stand.

Meanwhile I was getting to know my fellow Madonna fans, two lovely boys from Miami Florida who had won the contest from Icon (Madonna's fan club) and another fag hag duo behind us in line. There were several others who were clearly not fans and just happened to come upon tickets and wristbands for the performance. (I'll talk about a couple particular ones on a special Fan Letter Friday). I also noticed that I was the only one that even attempted to dress up. Now in Los Angeles, this is usually not the case for a Madonna concert. Usually, you get the drag queens coming out in full force, sporting her fits from Like a Virgin to Hung Up, I am no match for these geniuses. But last night, I was the only tried and true Madonna fan with a championship belt to prove it. Check it...

When we finally got a designated spot to line up, I saw the gays from Insider's report doing a news piece and the Associated Press stopped me, took a shot of my belt and interviewed me about Madonna. I was happy to oblige and for a quick minute I felt important but I got over it since the line was moving and they were finally letting us in.

We walk into the Roseland Ballroom and it was just like a expected, no seats on the bottom floor and for me this is not good because about half of the crowd was let in (no special treatment for contest winners because apparently we were all contest winners..or the people who stood in line the night before) and by the time Joey and I got in, we couldn't even see the front barricade. Joey, the generous man that he is, (plus he's tall so he could see just fine) bids me adieu and tells me to midget my way to the front, no matter what the cost or whose shins I bite. I decided biting shins would not be a good idea, Sure I have a mean bite and all but these are also die hard Madonna fans, some who have waited since 6 am that morning to get a wristband - I had a feeling most of them could have withstood a midget gnawing at their knees with no problem.

But people were surprisingly accommodating! One couple let me go in front of them because they could easily see over my head so it was no big deal, which put me butt to boobies with a 6 foot tall gay man who turned around, looked down and said, "Oh sweetie, you won't see anything! This just won't do...and OH look at that FABULOUS belt, I love it darling! Here, stand in front of me." And it went on like that for a couple more accommodating people (gays...love the gays...) who clearly had a soft spot for midget hags who also love Madonna. A couple friendly hellos, nice conversations and a few other fans taking pictures of my belt, I finally MADE IT TO THE FRONT right as the Queen herself was coming out. If you're looking at the stage, I was on the left hand side, if you're looking from the stage, I was on the right hand side.

The show was AMAZING of course! Madonna danced so much I don't think anyone got a clear picture of the bitch.

Up close, it is truly amazing that she's going to be 50 in August. She is flawless and her ass and thighs looked just like some of the sculptures I saw at the Metropolitan Museum earlier that day. Justin Timberlake was also there to sing 4 minutes. He looked good, kind of needs to shave the beard though, it's getting out of hand. The show when on just under 40 minutes (which literally felt like 10 minutes) and of course she put on an amazing show. The music was so loud, the bass literally blew my hair back, there were lazers, video screens, and Madonna dancing all over the place, rocking on her guitar, grinding with Justin and at one point she fell back on her ass but she hid it so well that I thought it was choreographed. She gave great eye contact with the audience and I'd like to say she saw my belt because she looked over a couple times but who knows. I'm going to lie to myself and say she did and she probably thought to herself, my my, that Elaine is so brilliant. Finally, just as quickly as it started, my girlfriend ended the night with remix of Music (I think, I honestly don't remember it was such a blur) and of course, left us wanting more. The concert was equivalent to that of blue balls. She teased, fondled, caressed and then turned around and walked away, taking her tight ass with her, leaving me wanting MORE! I took a few blurry pictures (seriously she would not sit still), and taking video would have been a waste of time because I had no room to move let alone hold a video camera still. And to be honest, I hate taking pictures and video during a Madonna concert. I feel like it takes me out of the moment since I'm watching her through the lens. MSN got it all on video for me so I'm not too disappointed.

So that's it - sorry that I didn't post sooner! That was my NYC Madonna dream fag hag trip! Afterwards, Joey and I grabbed some food (him pizza me a hot dog from a hot dog cart! YUM!) and then we stood in the middle of Times Square, took pictures, stared at the buildings, reminisced about the fabulousness that was Madge ....seriously, all we needed was some lawn chairs and that would have been the most perfect place to sit on our last night.
