It's Spring! It's one of my favorite times of year.

As the grass turns green with new life, the flowers begin to bloom, the birds sing their worship songs and all creation awakens from the darkness of winter, the earth resounds with a new joy of beauty!

All things become new! Can you hear all of creation worshiping the one true God and bringing Him glory?

New beginnings! New birth! New visions! New dreams!

Let us join with creation and give God the glory that is due His Name.

The Message Bible says "Bravo God! Bravo!...."

Let our mouths be filled with praise!!

Let's pick up that two-edged sword and fight this battle to win!

Our mouth and our sword in hand are great weapons for victory. Get our mouth in line with the Word of God.

He is our provider. He is our victory. He is our strength. He is our peace. He is our joy. He is our healer. He is our wisdom. He is everything we need!

The Message Bible says it this way...

Let true lovers break out in praise,
sing out from wherever they're sitting,
Shout the high praises of God,
brandish their swords in the wild sword-dance—

What are the words coming out of your mouth? Are they words of praise and victory? Or are they negative words filled with defeat?

Don't give the enemy an open door. Slam that door shut with the high praises of God who is your victory in all things!

We all have those days where we don't feel close to Him and we're distracted from His love, or just the stuff of life has pulled us is so many directions. Or maybe disobedience has put a separation in our walk with Him.

I know that the Father's heart is to be so close to us that we can feel His breath.

What has affected your closeness with the Father's love? Draw close to Him. He's waiting with open arms.

As we boast in everything He is to us, our trust grows, our faith grows, our gratitude grows and we allow God to become bigger in our lives.

Melt in your mouth Puff Corn

Melt in Your Mouth Puff Corn

2 packs of Puff Corn, I used Chesters. It has no hulls...your dentist will love you.

Put in large bowl, set aside

Preheat oven at 250 degrees

Mix together

1/2 cup margarine

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1 cup packed brown sugar

Cook on medium high heat in saucepan til bubbly for about 2 minutes. (Soft ball stage)

Add 1 tsp Baking Soda

Mix well.

Pour hot mix over Puff Corn. Stir to coat well.

Pour mix into large pan and put in oven.

Bake 45 minutes - stir every 10 minutes

Lay out on wax paper. Separate corn.

Drizzle melted chocolate if you like.

Wait for oohs and aahs.

Home for the Holidays

Hello Friends,

We had our home on the Holiday Home Tour in our community as a fundraiser for our new swimming pool. It was alot of work...mainly because I was way behind in my cleaning. You know...being too busy in life!

But once I got my act together in the cleaning department, I began enjoying the decorating. For me it's always a mess in the midst of dragging the totes from the basement, going through them to decide what I wanted out and what to drag back downstairs.

I struggled with my attitude, searched my heart and my motives, and went deeper into the arms of Jesus as I wondered what in the world was I doing in opening my home to lots and lots of people with the extra pressure of the season.

I had to get my eyes back on Jesus and what He called me to do. He reminded me of a recent prayer of mine about how I could to minister to my community in a greater way. Well, guess this was part of the answer to that prayer. God in all His faithfulness and love and mercy filled me His peace and wisdom to make my home a blessing to those who would come and see.

The Holiday Home Tour began with heavy snow early in the morning -

to the point of wondering if it should be postponed.

It was a lovely snow. We got about 5 inches by the afternoon which

made it a magical wonderland with all the lights.

My outdoor pots were all filled with greenery and branches.

Our entry door at night.

I had three candles on the steps.

There is course salt on the bottom (actually I used "ice melt")

with cranberries on top.

People were amazed that they kept burning even in the snow.

My hubby swept the porch and knocked one off.

Then there were two!

I'll add more pictures tomorrow.

Very simply put don't you think? Jesus was praying for us when He said these words.

As we spend time in His Word and time with Him, we become changed, we become like Jesus, we will be sanctified.

Why is it so difficult for the majority of believers to read their Bible?

The enemy knows that we will become powerful believers if we know what the Word says about walking in victory in every area of our lives. No wonder he throws the distractions at us when we try to quiet our hearts and spend time with Jesus. He doesn't want us to have power to pray for someone, peace in the circumstances, wisdom to make right decisions, etc.

When you sit down for your sweet time with Jesus, don't allow the distractions to come your way. Let Jesus love on you and minister His strength and peace to carry you through the day.

Don't you just love this picture? It's our favorite place to vacation. We just returned from there recently. It's probably our favorite place because we're together with all our kids and their spouses and five grandbabies.

And there is peace. We have separated ourselves from the day to day stuff that pulls us in all directions.

It's family time. We enjoy one another. We play together. We laugh together. We have quiet together.

God the Father is a God of relationship. Doesn't He want that kind of relationship with His own kids...you and me? Sometimes we get so "spiritual" that we miss the blessing of just being with Him, enjoying His love, laughing with Him.

Now that vacation is over, and we're back in the grind, where is my focus? Keeping my eyes focused on Jesus will keep my heart filled with peace, the peace that passes all understanding. No matter what tries to distract me and pull me from that peace, from trusting in Him, from spending time with Him and His Word, I will choose to keep my eyes focused and my heart and mind close to Jesus.

So many people struggle with thoughts going on in their heads that are tearing them down, or bringing fear, or discouraging them from walking into the destiny that God has for them.

Our minds are the battleground for the enemy to sow negative thoughts into our lives. It's what we do with them that makes the difference. When those thoughts come in, we must decide if they are thoughts from God, or thoughts from our own flesh, or if they are thoughts from the enemy.

My brother once told me that when a thought comes into our head, that we "pretend" to take it out and look at it and say "is this thought from God or me or from the enemy?". If it was from God, I put the thought back into my mind. If it was from my own thinking or from the enemy, I threw it away. Then I would find the verse in God's Word that spoke to that thought. If I had a thought of fear, I would throw it out, and say, "God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind" 2 Timothy 1:7.

That little exercise helped me to grow in discernment about my thoughts and actually pay attention to what kind of thoughts I allowed in my thinking. I took every thought captive to obey God's Word.

I want to keep my mind filled with His Word and filled with faith, not fear doubt and unbelief. How about you?

"The Star-Spangled Banner" was penned in 1814, rather famously, by Francis Scott Key, who was so moved after watching the huge U.S. flag at Fort McHenry survive a night of heavy British bombardment that he felt compelled to tell everyone a story of broad stripes and bright stars. There is a good chance you knew that. But do you know that the song wasn't officially adopted as our national anthem until an act of Congress in 1931? And did you know that our anthem actually has four verses? The first should be familiar — it's what we hear on patriotic holidays and before sporting events. The other three? Well, we did say that Key was inspired, didn't we?

Today we mark the song's 80th anniversary as our official anthem by bringing you all four verses.

Our son is getting married today! I have a few minutes before I need to beautify myself and wanted to declare the goodness of God is our lives.

For this daughter coming into our family, we have prayed for years and years for God's best for our son. And here she is! She will be gorgeous as she walks down the aisle to join up with our son in a covenant before God.

I love the Message Bible....God's beauty and love has chased after us and brought us to this most holy day.

We are grateful for His love that continues to chase after us and draw us closer to Him.

He is good! We are blessed! And we are so very thankful!

Now I need to go get ready for the big day!

I love that God has plans and purposes for each one of us.

As graduation season approaches, it's so encouraging to look at these kids and tell them that God has a specific plan for them. If they are believers, they respond with a resounding "Yes!". They have found peace in knowing that God is going to direct their steps, even though they only know one step at a time. It's a walk of faith and trust. And it's a very exciting time for them.

Our youngest son is getting married in a week and a half. We know that God has amazing plans for him and his bride as they also are finishing up college and entering into a marriage covenant with our Father.

It's exciting times for sure!

To Do List

God has plans and purposes for us each day. He wants us to spend more time with Him so that we can get our "To Do" list from Him.

I am a list maker and a post it note queen. I can write down all kinds of things to do for the day. But at the end of the day, did I accomplish what God had planned for me to accomplish? Or was it my own desires and my own thoughts?

Already this week, I have had to change my own plans about 8 times. God is setting me up with His plans and I have had to move many things off my own schedule.

I want to walk in His steps for my days....moment to moment. Then I know my day will be pleasing to Him if I seek His face and His plan for my day.

God gives us strength to accomplish His plans for our day if we seek Him. No wonder we get so worn out throughout the day because we try to do our own lists in our own strength.

God is a good God. He's faithful and He's filled with love for us. He wants to spend time with us. He has passion for each one of us. He wants to love on us and fill us with His strength. He has plans for our good. He desires to be with us every moment of the day.

Let God make your lists for you. Life will be so much easier because we won't be striving to do everything in our own strength.

The Message Bible puts it this way....vs. 34-36....

Jesus said, "I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave is a transient, who can't come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.

Are we FREE? If Jesus has set us free from sin and death, then we are to walk in that freedom.

What is holding us back? Are we tangled in barbed wire?

Is there "Jesus Freedom" in our marriages, our homes and our children?

Is there "Jesus Freedom" in our workplace, in our relationships.

Is there "Jesus Freedom" in our churches, in our own worship and devotions?

Is there "Jesus Freedom" in our character? Are we free from fear and bondage?

Is there "Jesus Freedom" in our hearts and in our thoughts? Are we overcomers in our thinking? Are our minds renewed and transformed by the Word of God?

Father, I ask that You would show us today those areas that we need new and fresh freedom in our lives. Lord open up our hearts and minds and our eyes to see those areas that are entangled and holding us back from living in true freedom in You. Thank You for Your goodness and mercy that covers us in our failings. And thank You for Your marvelous grace to help us to change and walk in Your freedom. In Jesus Name. Amen!

We live in the Midwest where there are 4 different seasons. I love the seasons. I just don't like cold or snow. But I do have to admit the snow can be very beautiful and breath-taking.

This is a picture taken yesterday of our deck. I love the newness that the snow creates. I love to look at the new fallen snow. And I love the quietness and the stillness of the moment. It does take my breath away as I soak in the presence of God.

God's mercies are so new to us every morning. My husband and I always say..."His mercies are new to us every moment that we need them". I can't wait until the next morning to get new mercies when I've messed up! God is so faithful to us. He's so loving and kind to us isn't He? How great is His faithfulness!!

May He cover you in a fresh blanket of His mercies today.

Thankful Thursday

It's Thankful Thursday and my heart is twitterpated to give thanks to our King for His goodness and mercy!

I'm so thankful for our family and what God has done in their lives. We have 4 grown children. Three are married so far.

This year we have added 2 more grandbabies, making a total of 5 grandbabies that rock our world with great joy!

Our oldest daughter and her husband have sold a landscape business that needed to be sold, so they could move on in what God wants them to do. Praise God!!

Our older son, a physical therapist, received increased opportunities in his job. His wife has kept her job as a radiation therapist. Praise God!!

Our younger daughter and her husband have moved to a different city and are worship pastors in a large church. Our daughter is excelling in her schooling and will graduate in June. Praise God!!

Our youngest son asked his girlfriend to marry him...and she said yes! They are getting married in May! Jenna is applying at Physical Therapy school. Caleb will finish his school in a year. Praise God!!

It's taken alot of prayer and time and patience for this mom to see the fruit of this past year.

I'm so thankful for what God has done in my own heart as I wait, and I pray, and I put my hope in Him. For God is with me always and He never leaves me nor forsakes me.

I look forward to pressing in harder with God in this coming year. I want to be closer....oh so much closer.

May you be blessed in the New Year as you draw nearer to Him.

I've become a fan of the Message Bible....

He taught me how to sing the latest God-song,

a praise-song to our God.

More and more people are seeing this:

they enter the mystery,

abandoning themselves to God.

If we surrender our day to God, He will put the "latest God-song" in our hearts. No matter what we're doing. Especially in the busy seasons of life. As we are singing our new song, it comes out of our heart and changes our attitude. And then people around us "enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God". Just because we begin to sing!

So no matter what circumstances you are in at this moment,

sing loudly my friends!

Allow God to put that new song in your heart and enjoy this season of celebrating Jesus.

During the busy holiday season, let's remember to let the peace of God rule and reign in our hearts. Hang on His peace in every situation. And be THANKFUL. Our hearts will be filled with more joy in this season as we are thankful....in all things.

How would we affect those around us in this busy season

if we let God's peace rule in our hearts

and were thankful in all things?

The Message Bible puts it this way....

Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other.

None of this going off and doing your own thing.

And cultivate thankfulness.

Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house.

Give it plenty of room in your lives.

Instruct and direct one another using good common sense.

And sing, sing your hearts out to God!

Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—

be done in the name of the Master, Jesus,

thanking God the Father every step of the way.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The family was all together. And that's the most important thing to me being a mom. We are hugely blessed that our family is in the same state and we get to see them often.

The day after Thanksgiving, Mike and I celebrated our 33rd Wedding Anniv. Wow, where has the time gone?

Here's a picture of Mike and I on our wedding day, November 26, 1977..

This was taken on Thanksgiving Day, 2010.

The fruit and blessings of 33 yrs of marriage.

4 children - Hannah, Jacob, Lydia and Caleb

3 spouses - Jeff, Kassia and Chris

Youngest son Caleb, just asked Jenna to marry him. She said yes! They're getting married in May, 2011.

5 grandchildren - Grace age 6 1/2, Sam age 3, William, 10 months and Jackson, age 2 and Baby Colton, 9 weeks old.

And they all love Jesus and are serving in His Kingdom!

We are so thankful that God's grace and mercy has covered us and given us strength and wisdom as we are on this journey of life. There's no way we can do this without Him.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
Psalm 92:1

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us,

I love it in the Message Bible ~

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

This is a picture of a Clematis that is still blooming in my garden. In the dullness and dying of the rest of the garden, she shines with all her pure beauty and glory. My eyes are drawn to her as I look into the garden.

We, as God's children, are to shine in purity and beauty in the midst of darkness. We are to have grace on our lips at all times. And the King will not only be our King and our Savior, but also our Friend.

I want Him to be my Friend, don't you?
